The 21 Best Restaurants In Marseille - Marseille - The Infatuation

"Live out your French Riviera vacation dream with a seafood tower and a glass of rosé at Coquille, a block from Vieux Port. On the cooked side are mussels, always, and grilled fish like tuna or hake with asparagus or sweet potato mousseline. The decor is cheeky-chic—think marble tables with wood and rattan chairs, blue and white striped banquettes, and a wall-size tile mural of crustaceans in hats. There’s well-shaded patio seating, an indoor-outdoor front area, and a dining room at the back where you can watch pizzas going into the flaming oven. If you’re looking for a place to try Marseille’s exclusive pizza style, called the moitié-moitié—half cheese (mozzarella with a bit of emmental) and half anchovy, both studded with black olives—this is it. After exhaustive research, we can assure you that this is the best moitié-moitié in the city." - sophie friedman

Very nice food, fresh and modern seafood bistro. The pizza as a starter is really nice and tasty. They are kid friendly and have been very taking of us. Fish were well cooked. I recommend if you want a lunch in the center of Marseille to avoid all the tourist trap. I recommended reservation.

Conveniently located close to the port, this restaurant has a very nice atmosphere and a pleasant setting. The food started off strong. The oysters were fresh and nicely briny—we tried four different varieties and all of them were excellent. The bulot was also fresh, and the sardines were very yummy. We ordered the sardine and anchovy pizza, which was really tasty and well balanced. The beef tartare was another highlight and very well prepared. Unfortunately, not everything lived up to expectations. The crab had almost no flavor. While the texture was fine, it completely lacked the natural sweetness you would expect from fresh seafood and tasted more like plain cold meat. The worst part of the meal, however, was the mussels. They were clearly spoiled and smelled terrible. I had to handle them with a fork and my fingers, and even after washing my hands several times, the smell lingered. When the waitress asked how the food was, we honestly mentioned that everything was good except for the mussels. Instead of addressing the issue, she became offended and responded in a rude and unpleasant manner, which made the experience even worse. Overall, while some dishes were very good, the spoiled mussels and the poor reaction from the staff left a very negative impression. The service and food quality does not justify the high price point.

Great seafood dinner. We stopped by without reservation on Saturday evening but were fortunately able to be seated on their patio. I recommend making a reservation though, as our experience was very lucky. The patio angles out onto the square toward the fountain alongside several other restaurants. Besides the open air tables, there are several more tables in an enclosed patio and then more in the building itself. We enjoyed the monkfish medallions with leeks and the skatefish.

10/10, the oysters and prawns were so amazing they made me want to die in marseille, the wine is fantastic even the cheaper bottle that we got, the chips were perfect, the service was friendly and light hearted. There is not a single aspect about this place you can fault. C’EST PARFAIT!

Cozy place with tasty and affordable oysters. There’s a tasting platter if you want to try several varieties. The baked mussels are absolutely delicious — highly recommended.

We booked a table for 6 people, and it was amazing! I had mussels with fries, and they were so yummy—everyone should try them. We shared a big plate of seafood, and it was super fresh and tasty. We also had some wine and sparkling water. The restaurant is really pretty, which made it even more fun. Make sure to book ahead because it can get busy. If you love seafood, you’ll love this place!
