7 Great Day & Weekend Trips From Paris

"You can live out your your French Riviera vacation dream with a seafood tower and a glass of rosé at Coquille, a block from Vieux Port. But it’s also the best place in the city to try Marseille’s exclusive pizza style, called the moitié-moitié—half cheese and half anchovy, both studded with black olives. There’s well-shaded patio seating, an indoor-outdoor front area, and a dining room at the back where you can watch pizzas going into the flaming oven. The decor is cheeky-chic—think marble tables with wood and rattan chairs, blue and white striped banquettes, and a wall-size tile mural of crustaceans in hats. " - sophie friedman

A very good seafood restaurant (and Pizzas) right next to the Vieux Port in central Marseille. The Coquille St Jacques carpaccio appetiser was delicious as was Merlu roti with spring vegetables. The wine card is substantial with a good variety of prices. The staff is warm, friendly and knowledgeable. The restaurant is large and thematic and therefor less personal than the others we visited during our long weekend. That said we still had a lovely evening.

We loved our lunch at Coquille-Bistro Marin. I enjoyed the whole roasted Seabass and my partner the seared tuna. Great atmosphere, service, and selection of seafood.

We booked a table for 6 people, and it was amazing! I had mussels with fries, and they were so yummy—everyone should try them. We shared a big plate of seafood, and it was super fresh and tasty. We also had some wine and sparkling water. The restaurant is really pretty, which made it even more fun. Make sure to book ahead because it can get busy. If you love seafood, you’ll love this place!

Fantastic restaurant - the food was incredible, the staff was very friendly. Everyone who worked in the restaurant seemed to be having a great time and it came through for the experience of the guests. Wonderful place.

One of my favorite restaurants in Marseilles! Oysters are amazing and the dessert too!!

The food was mediocre to bad—nothing special at all, and unreasonably expensive! We ordered oysters, hake fish, mussels, and pizza. Only the hake dish was good, and I have to emphasize that the oysters couldn’t have been worse! The staff were not helpful at all. We asked for a recommendation for their signature fish or wine, but the waiter just said, “I don’t know, order whatever you like!” We were so disappointed on our first night in Marseille.

The food was okay. Nothing out of expectation. On top the pizza was too salty. Service was not fast during dinner time.

We found this place from a site of a food critic. It has high remarks from the site so we went here. We had to book for another day as the night we arrived without booking was already full. The lady handling the reservation was really accommodating and friendly. On the day of our reserved dinner, we were welcomed by the same lady handling the reservations and she asked as to wait a bit while the table was being cleaned. Took a bit of time waiting but we were given free drinks while waiting (we had champagne). The food was tasty and exquisite. The staff assigned to us was also good, attentive, and friendly. One of the best restos we visited in Marseille. Highly recommended but make sure to have a reservation.
