Celebrated Santa Barbara Restaurant Corazón Cocina Opens in Ventura | Eater LA

"Opened the same week along a popular strip in Downtown Ventura as a full-service restaurant and marks the mini-chain’s first location with a full bar. The bar features small-batch mezcal for traditional margaritas or a flight to sip; all beers are Mexican and wines hail from Baja Mexico’s Valle de Guadalupe. New menu additions at this location include a ribeye chicharron with mozzarella, chorizo, pasilla, and flour tortillas, as well as a tuna tartare with avocado, burnt habanero, and a crema serrano ponzu. Velázquez says timing was key for the Ventura and Carpinteria openings—the building’s landlord brought the opportunity, bringing his total number of restaurants up to five. “My goal has never been to open a chain of restaurants and make money. Our main objective and goal is to produce great food at a good price. We are driven by farmers’ markets, local fish, and great corn from Mexico.” Hours are Sunday–Thursday 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. and until 10 p.m. on Friday and Saturday." - Mona Holmes

This was my first time here and I love it! I went in for an early dinner after some shopping in downtown Ventura. I ordered the Colifor Taco and added a side of Rice and Beans. The taco was a work of art and tasted just as amazing. The cauliflower had a light batter and was dressed with micro greens, crema, almond arbol salsa, avocado, salsa cruda, and dates on a blue corn tortilla. It was sweet, savory, salty and creamy. The blend of flavors was delightful. The rice was light and fluffy alongside pinto beans topped with queso fresco. I asked for chips to scoop them which added a light salty crunch. This was the perfect meal for a light dinner. The staff is very friendly and attentive. The decor and ambiance is soft and inviting. I will be back soon!!!

My wife and I went with friends during their “soft opening”. In terms of service, we went in with low expectations as we assumed they would still be ironing out kinks. But we were pleasantly surprised with exceptional service. The food was terrific too. Flavor and presentation did not disappoint! The best part of all was the atmosphere. We asked to be seated in the back courtyard, and the vibes were A+. If you drink alcohol, order the passionfruit La Guerita. Delicious! Update on 11/1/2025 I stopped for breakfast and decided on the Los Alamos breakfast burrito. Now, I haven’t had every breakfast burrito in town. But I’d say I’ve had the top 6 or 7? The Los Alamos is hands down the BEST breakfast burrito in all of Ventura. Most BB are overloaded with massive, bland, chunks of russet potato. Not the Los Alamos. It had the proper balance of potato, egg, bacon, and peppers. They even served it with what I’d describe as a nacho cheese sauce, and tortilla chips. It was amazing!

We were seated immediately and told that our server would be by to take our drink order. More than 10 minutes had passed and we were talking about leaving when our server came up, semi apologetic about the delay. He had already served others who had been seated after us. I think there was some poor communication of which server was assigned to our table or from the host to the server that we were waiting for. Fortunately, what saved the experience is the food was delicious and the server was being very nice after that point. To drink, I ordered the Aztec Old Fashioned which was very smooth and noticeably high quality. We started with the guacamole, which was served with house made chips and salsa. The guac was delicious, seasoned well and a touch of heat. The chips were perfect, not the flimsy type - nice hearty chips crisp and not over fried. The salsas, green and red, both were amazing and flavorful. The Ensenada fish taco was fresh and tasted good. Nothing wow'd me about this one, but it was good. The Norteño steak taco was excellent! This was the highlight of the meal. The steak was perfectly tender, seasoned well and accompanied by some beans and guacamole. The Chicana shrimp quesadilla was nice, but nothing special. For what this was, I probably wouldn't order this one again. Nothing bad to say about it, but nothing really makes me want to have it again. Despite a very rocky start to the point where we almost left the restaurant, I'm glad we got to experience the food and pretty good service after that point.

Google
New favorite spot! Incredible food - quality, flavor, and presentation. I had the Coliflor and Ensenada tacos and they were so delicious. The cauliflower and the fish in each taco were both perfectly fried and accompanied by great flavors and textures with their toppings. We also enjoyed the guacamole and salsas - yum! We waited about 35 minutes for a table, which was the estimated wait time by the hostess. Not bad for a Saturday night at peak dinner time. It was definitely busy in the restaurant but the staff were on it and the food came out pretty quick. Can’t wait to come back and try more.

Google
The food was mostly good. I got the fish taco and aguachile which was very delicious and flavorful. The aguachile had potato tacquitos in it, that was very different. I am not mad about it, I think it could do without and more aguachile and chips would have been better. The drinks were phenomenal. I got a Paloma and regretted not doing the double, my husband got an a unique old fashion which was so delicious. My husband got a steak taco. He was not the biggest fan and left part of it. Overall I would go back for the food and drinks

Google
The restaurant is self is gorgeous and so different from other Mexican restaurants in the area! I got the aguachiles and passionfruit margarita. The aguachiles were delicious, great flavoring and not too spicy (beware the jalepenos). I’ve been dying to try the passionfruit margarita and it definitely did not disappoint!! Everyone’s tacos looked loaded with meat and toppings too so I don’t think you can go wrong with anything here !

Google
Food is delicious! I tried it several months ago and was so impressed. Brought a friend here to try it after our walk and she loved it too. I highly recommend Corazon Cocina. We had the birria, tia juana and norteno tacos plus guacamole. All were delicious and the salsas are also very good!

Ingrid B.

Yelp
Absolutely delicious food and good portions (aguachile, tacos, side of black beans with plantains). Great service and mellow atmosphere. Drinks are equally fabulous. It isn't a traditional taqueria but definitely will be back when it's time for a slightly fancier meal.

Yelp
Been here for both lunch and dinner, so I feel qualified to speak on this. Corazón Cocina on Main Street does not miss. The standout for me is the aguachiles. They're not traditional and that's the point. Potato taquitos in aguachiles sounds wild, but somehow it works and I crave it every time. Counter service, easy flow, no fuss. Also, I'm sorry, but the reviews saying the food is bland? That feels... suspicious. The flavors are very much there. The coliflor taco and the tia Juana are everything. Crunchy, flavorful, great texture. Complimentary chips and salsa are always a win, and the cocktails are refreshing and crisp. Salsa mugrosa is my fave, smoky and hits all my taste buds. Perfect for a casual sit-down or a low-key date night. Yes, Ventura County has plenty of taquerías/taco trucks offering $3 street tacos, but this place is different. The ingredients and combinations are thoughtful and unique, which makes it stand out. It's not for everyone, and that's okay. The back patio is super cute, the interior aesthetic is on point, and it's been fun watching this space evolve and seeing how much care went into it. Staff is friendly too, which always makes the experience better.

Yelp
Atmosphere: quaint yet busy. We did a late dinner on a weekend and were able to snag a nice table in the back courtyard. Food: We got Shrimp Aguachile...I wanted to slurp up the bowl. This was the star. We also got Doraditos (like potato/cheese taquitos) which were tasty and nice to dip into the aguachile (did I say I loved that broth?) We also got a vegetarian ceviche which was bright and unique. Overall: I'd come back for that aguachile alone, but I'm excited to try other things on the menu. Our server was very sweet too.

Yelp
Came on a Friday night to try this place finally and was not disappointed. Mellow atmosphere, nice lighting, friendly server. I got a mezcal negroni and my boyfriend got a carajillo, both were so good but the carajillo was delicious. We started with the La Baja Tostada, phenomenal! Such a generous portion of fresh fish and shrimp tempura on the crispy tortilla, slight little kick of spice and the ponzu was so good. Then I ordered the sweet potato taco and my boyfriend got the quesabirria and the ensenada fish taco. We loved the blue corn tortillas. The sweet potato tacos were SO good, probably the best veggie tacos I've had in town. The consumé for his birria was so good, fish was soft in the tacos, the tortilla chips reminded me of my childhood family favorite mexican restaurants. So good! Will be back! Worth the price

Yelp
Tiajuana Tacos still amazing as ever! I had to order it to ensure I had a tasty taco to fall back on. I tried the Mole Taco this time since it is the most mentioned in Yelp but I did not like the meat. The rice and tortilla combination with the meat was soft and nice to eat though but I did not like the taste of the mole. There was just something about it that I didn't enjoy. I got the Tuna Tostada and it was quite enjoyable except I think the spiciness of the smoked chile mayo hit a bit too hard for me. The tuna and everything else was tasty though.

Yelp
Si to a norteño taco or two made with CORAZÓN. Un apapacho ... a hug to the soul! These tacos are big and full of pure deliciousness! The strawberry fields marg is so good and refreshing ! Cannot wait to go back for more ! Muchas gracias Chef Ramon todo está riquísimo de verdad! Honest review, I am hooked! My amiga and I had a great time. We sat on the patio enjoying the beautiful Ventura weather. Great add to Downtown Ventura!

Yelp
After the Ventura Wine Walk, our party of four walked up to Corazón Cocina to inquire about a table. The place was busy, thankfully we were promptly seated. We had the guacamole and chips, the hubby and I split the chicken quesadilla. The guacamole was tasty and served with green and red flavorful hot sauces. The quesadilla was a blue corn open-faced topped with chicken, grilled veggies and cheese. The portion is hearty and delicious. Our friends are big fans as they frequent the Santa Barbara location, both raved over their food. The service was attentive.

Yelp
The aguachile shrimp civiche I loved . Pretty spicy , drinks good, not cheap but not overly expensive. I felt I got good value for my money spent . Would I come back? Absolutely. Not in downtown Ventura often . But I happen to be to get a car windshield fixed so when In Rome . Will be back in the future for sure

Yelp
Corazon Cocina is a great addition to downtown! We walked in Saturday at 6pm and it took around 40 mins to seat a party of two. Norteno taco 5/5 giant taco that was loaded with high quality steak and so much fresh guac on a perfectly grilled flour tortilla (I opted for no beans) Ensenada taco 5/5 delicious battered fish taco Strawberry fields margarita 5/5 strong, with fresh strawberries, refreshing. It's a beautiful restaurant and service was a bit slow, but it was a busy weekend night!

Yelp
We are getting pretty spoiled in the 805 with all of Chef Ramon's restaurants popping up from Ventura to Santa Barbara. :) On a weeknight this spot was PACKED. So happy to see another restaurant on Main St. thriving and bringing in the crowds. The community and locals have begged for Main Street to return to its glory days with busier foot traffic and support to local businesses, it's amazing to see how the community shows up for some good food and one another. On the night I came they were sold out of some Items so I went with some dishes I've already had at his other restaurants and that I knew I would like. Happy to report that they did have their famous octopus & shrimp tacos which hit the spot as always. The octopus at Corazon Cocina is always super tender and flavorful. If you like octopus this is a great appetizer or main. The tacos come just one to an order but they are big and jam packed - so one always works for me. The star of the night actually were the cocktails. I went with a classic strawberry margarita. It was a no frills margarita but it was done well. On the sweet side which is always my preference when ordering a fruit forward drink. I'd get this again for sure. My friend ordered the La Guerita which featured passionfruit and lime. She let me try it and I absolutely loved this cocktail and was grateful she gave me a sip. I'm coming back for this drink again and I'd highly recommend it if you are looking for something a little more unique but still refreshing and fruit forward. Service was nice and friendly despite them being super busy. They also were patient with us as we yapped and were the last table to leave. I'll definitely be back as there are some more dishes I want to try but for now the classics were great and the cocktails perfectly balanced.

Yelp
Came here on a Friday night with my husband and toddler and we were sat on the back patio which had ample room to fit our stroller and wild 2 year old lol. The inside ambiance is so elevated and costal and hope to sit inside when we can get out for a date night because it seems dreamy! We ordered the Kids Chicken Quesadilla, Large Classic Marg, the El Cali Burrito & the Sal de Mar Ceviche. No chips and salsa were offered but didn't necessarily see any other tables have them with so it's probably not a thing here! Kids meal options were great, my 2 year old devoured his chicken quesadilla and rice. 10/10 OMG the Sal De Mar Ceviche?! For sure the favorite of the night for me, so fresh, tangy, spicy and so unique with the chunks of watermelon & pomegranate seeds. Will be back just for that. 10/10. The El Cali Burrito was good, with steak & French fries inside but was almost lacking flavor after eating the ceviche? 7.5/10. Overall great experience, accommodating to families with kids and great service. Excited to come back and try more!

Yelp
This Wednesday noon, my wife felt better after recovering from her medical treatment. I asked her if she wanted to make a road trip to try a New Mexican restaurant that just opened. We drove 2 hours to Ventura to taste tacos at Corazon Cocina. We ordered all their tacos. Unfortunately, they ran out of their sweet potato taco. My wife had the Tia Juana that features octopus and white shrimp and the Norteno that had skirt steak. I had the Coliflor, a tempura cauliflower taco, Ensenada, a crispy beer battered Ling cod fish taco and the mole taco the featured chicken mole. This is my new favorite Mexican restaurant for tacos. I enjoyed all my tacos. Ranking them: 1. Mole taco. 2. Ensenada taco. 3. Colifor taco. I ordered the sauce on the side to sample. I love their Almomd Arbol Salsa. It had that smoke flavor to it. I spread it generously on all the cauliflower. My wife enjoyed both tacos. Her favorite was the Norteno. There's inside seating and outside covered seating in front of the restaurant. The restaurant has a nice airy atmosphere. DJ's rating: 4.55/5.00 Would we come back? Definitely Yes!

Yelp
Corazon Cocina's 5th restaurant is a welcome addition to VTA food scene! First Bib gourmand winning restaurant by this group was Corazon Cocina & Taproom at The Project in Santa Barbara and it is still my favorite- unfortunately Covid forced its closure. I loved the vibe, the food and I can't help but compare all of the follow-on restaurants to the Original. VTA ambiance is intentionally minimalist warmed up with greenery and wood elements. It features both indoor and outdoor tables. Our server was very friendly and the food came out quickly. Food -Guacamole with chips is accompanied by both salsas and is an excellent start to the meal. The Norteno tacos are delicious. Once you fold over the crispy fried flour tortilla, you taste all the elements in every bite; steak is tender and the beans, cheese, salsas & guac are good combo of flavors. I'm happy to have a C.C. location nearby but I honestly prefer the menu selection at the Public Market in SB. The taco/burrito options with dreamy birria and quesa-birria offerings served up with a margarita are the flavor-bombs that make me happiest but I still have to give the new VTA a 5 star for what we ordered and for ambiance. Would I go back? I'll drive to SB to get the food I crave but I'd still recommend VTA for an elevated date night experience.

Yelp
Corazon Cocina Ventura grand opening today. I ordered the mole taco, Ensenada (fish taco) and the passionfruit margarita. The mole taco was flavorful and stuffed I almost needed two shells to hold it all in, which isn't a bad thing at all. The fish taco was seasoned perfectly. And the passionfruit margarita with Mezcal was the perfect t balance of flavors, and not to sweet. The restaurant itself is beautifully decorated and they have a courtyard in the back

Yelp
Came here for my husband's birthday on a weekday. Nice cute lil spot in downtown Ventura, not too big. Excellent food and drinks! We tried all the tacos and the burrito too. I got the spicy margarita and it was legit! Portions are just right I would say. The tacos are similar to street size tacos so you can try multiple varieties. 5 stars for Mexican food!

Yelp
Usually I wait a bit before I provide a feedback but I couldn't wait. Still finishing taco Ensenada (fish taco) that is sooooo good. I had Norteño (steak) that was as amazing. Staff is very attentive and friendly. I upgraded my Margarita to a Cadillac Margarita using as a base their grapefruit margarita (can't recall the name but look it up ppl) and this thing rocks!!! Wow! The bartender lady is a pro! Seriously. I 100% absolutely recommend this place!!! Check it out ppl!!

Yelp
Welcome to Ventura, Corazon! I was thrilled to see the grand opening happening on my bday so of course I had to celebrate with my favorite tacos. This location is STUNNING! The tree in the center, the walls, the light fixtures, greenery; such a vibe! The food of course is the star of the show. The taco norteño is a must EVERY TIME! I tried the doraditos and that amazing crunch with the juicy chicken and fixings is a must for me from now on. The Ensenada taco was fresh and well cooked and the chicken mole is my husband's favorite. We got a side of rice and beans for our son and the portion is very generous. I've said it before and I'll say it again; you know the food is good when their rice and beans are good. You honestly can't go wrong with anything on their menu! And of course the celebration isn't complete without an adult beverage. We got the strawberry fields margarita and the Aztec old fashion. Both really good! Staff was hard at work and very friendly. Noah was sweet to check in on us and even made sure our son didn't lose a toy. See y'all again soon!

Yelp
Went for a ladies night out to celebrate a friend's birthday. We had hits and misses... currently they do not accept reservations. When we arrived there was a little bit of a wait, about 5-10 minutes. The decor is simple, chic and has an open air al fresco ambiance. I mentioned it was one of the gal's birthdays, but there wasn't any acknowledgment at all, was kind of bummed they don't do anything. We ordered quite a variety of food. The margaritas were good, but didn't have tajin to run the glass. The lemon ginger agua fresca was delicious and should be used to make an alcoholic drink! (Not sure if it's already on the menu?) The sweet plantains and side of beans and rice were perfection. They were sold out of the sweet potato taco, which was disappointing. The cauliflower taco was very tasty and had a nice crisp breading. The flavors were a great balance of sweet and savory. The ceviches felt like misses. We ordered the Sal de Mar ceviche and aguachile ceviche. The watermelon in the Sal de Mar felt oversized and seemed more like a salad not really intended to pile on a tostada and eat. The flavors all seemed to work together, so at least it tasted good. My friend ordered the Aguachile ceviche and hadn't read on the menu it was served on top of taquitos. The header seemed a little mis-leading when you think of traditional taquitos. Overall, we enjoyed trying the newer restaurant. We were in good company, but there are a lot of Mexican restaurants that compete and are seem to be a little better value in my humble opinion.

Yelp
Food was OUTSTANDING! And I know good food. Nice and relaxing ambiance. Fast and personable service. Huge bonus: outside seating is dog friendly. So coming back.

Yelp
So excited to have Corazón Cocina here in Ventura. I stumbled upon the SB location years ago and have been a fan since the beginning! The owners put in a lot of work to update the spot and make it better than it looked before! I like how they are making use of the outdoor patio now- tucked away and private for a great bite with friends! As for the food, 10/10 as always. I ordered the Sal de Mar ceviche and it was so refreshing and fresh. I believe it was made with yellowtail that day, my favorite! We also tried the Corazón salad and their fried plantains and black beans- both delicious. My friends ordered the sweet potato taco and the Norteño and said they were both really good. Can't wait to go back again.
google avatar

Gaye Lynn B.

Yelp
Cheery and welcoming. Great views at the outdoor coveted seating. Excellent customer service. Superb tasting food. Waitress accommodated my diet and recommended the Mercado quesadilla with steak no cheese. So good. And an aqua chili margarita paired nicely with it. Will be back when in Ventura.

Yelp
Really enjoyed our time here, the aesthetic is super cozy and the menu is really creative. The chicharron dish is amazing. Richard, who works there, was incredibly helpful in his recommendations and is a pleasant host all-around. Highly recommend!
google avatar

Yelp
Delicious! And the owners/management are wonderful. If they had Table service it would be a plus, however ordering is very easy and food & drink are great.
google avatar

Anastacia M.

Yelp
All the food here is homemade! The guacamole is amazing and they have vegan tacos. My cauliflower tacos were great! My friends loved the steak, chicken and seafood tacos too. Everyone loved their food. Our server was very nice. The restaurant is conveniently located in the heart of Main Street and has a lovely old Spanish style décor. My only complaint is that they do not have ice tea or coffee but otherwise this place is excellent. Added bonus they were able to do separate checks for our large party. Dog lovers can also use the beautiful patio in the back.
google avatar

Kaylin K.

Yelp
We went for an early dinner with friends and our two babies and had a great time. Service was fast, friendly, and we loved being able to place our order from the table this time. The ambiance was just as charming as before, and the food was excellent as always. My only note is that having just one high chair isn't ideal -- I'd recommend at least two, as there were at least four other families during our visit who also needed a booster seat or high chair. Overall, still a wonderful dinner and we enjoyed everything.
google avatar

Ray N.

Yelp
The food here is bonkers. I had a transcendent seafood taco: octopus and shrimp with a roasted pasilla pepper on an immaculate blue masa corn tortilla. The seafood was high quality, expertly cooked, and the sauce was hugely complementary. I also got a fried fish taco that was very good, a tuna tostada that was very flavorful, and a huge salad that showcased many fresh and tasty ingredients (jicama, watermelon, pomegranate seeds, baby kale, and pepitas). But the seafood taco was the standout: truly out of this world.
google avatar

Dana G.

Yelp
Literally the best, most fresh and delicious Mexican cuisine I've had. Everything from the drinks, to the chips, to the cook of the meat was perfect. Also love the atmosphere and how easy it was to eat with a baby in tow because of the ease of ordering at the counter but also having a wonderful sit down meal. Will be back as soon as we are back in Ventura!

Yelp
We were in town shopping this past Sunday and hungry for lunch so we just popped in this cool looking spot on a whim. We didn't even know it was a soft opening. My husband had one of the ceviches and I had the chicken taquitos. Delicious. We also had an old fashioned and a Paloma margarita. Everything was great and sweet service. Our cocktails took a little time but we were fine and as we know now-it's a new place so give grace.

Alyssa L.

Yelp
I love this place. I've been here once and I can't stop talking about it. I love how fresh the ingredients are and the ambiance of this place. It's so beautiful inside and so is their food. Visually appealing and super delicious. More upscale so I'd recommend for like a date night dinner. I got the flan and i enjoyed it as it wasn't too heavy. It had hints of orange that balanced out the sweetness

Yanet L.

Yelp
The food is not good sorry! They didn't have a couple of plates that we asked for or drinks The service was ok not the best experience

Leslee O.

Yelp
We absolutely loved the atmosphere and vibe of this place! We arrived early, and by the time we left, it was packed--and for good reason. We started with two orders of the guacamole, which was incredibly fresh and flavorful, paired with crisp, house-made chips and perfectly crafted margaritas--big and bold with just the right kick. Let's just say we had a happy little buzz going when the food arrived! The menu is small for now as they test out what their customers enjoy, but what they offer is packed with flavor. I had the Chicana taco--rich, savory, and seasoned to perfection with a delicious sauce that brought it all together. Our waitress was a gem--warm, attentive, and so knowledgeable. Her bright smile and great service made the evening even better. All in all, a fantastic experience. Highly recommend checking this place out!

Yelp
Their orange flan is quite possibly the best flan I've ever had. The other food is good but please do yourself a favor and get the flan. Anyways now that we've gotten that out of the way, the service was great and the interior is beautiful. If you're gonna get a taco just know that they're pretty large and loaded. I had to use a fork to eat some of the toppings off of the taco before I could fold it. Normally I can eat three tacos but I could hardly finish two tacos from here. Also they have this ginger lemon aqua fresca which is really unique but if you like ginger it is definitely worth the try! Definitely coming back another time to try their other items.

Yelp
Food was excellent, we ordered three diff tacos plates, salad, guacamole, side of plantains and beans with tortillas on the side. The norteño taco + cauliflower were solid. Understandably, the service is working out the kinks - restaurant opened only last week. We'll try again in about 1.5 - 2 months. Suggestion to management: cancel the "counter orders" and just have a full wait staff with table-side service. They have Cazcanes and Fortaleza tequila, just wish the margarita was made with more care (for some reason they served in a massive glass and the ratios were off). Overall, food was great and we'll try again soon.

Yelp
This place is so bright and welcoming! It catches your eye immediately when you're walking by. We were there around 1pm on a Wednesday for lunch. It wasn't busy, but the front patio was full so we sat inside. Order at the counter style. I got a chicken mole taco and the norteño (steak) taco. They were very big tacos and packed to the brim which I appreciated! The mole taco was probably my favorite of the 2. The steak in the norteño was so tender and well cooked, just a little bland as was the taco itself. It needed some kick to it in my opinion. I would request salsa or something to add to it. All together I enjoyed the experience and would love to come back and try some of their alcoholic beverages! Beautiful place to enjoy a meal!

Yelp
Food was excellent. Service was friendly but slow--It took about 15 min just for water and acknowledgement. Overall, the food and vibe was good enough for me to try again sometime soon.

Yelp
My friends and I went to try this place the other night. We tried a few of their tacos, ceviche, and the doraditos. Everything was super tasty. We were seated outside and the atmosphere was great. Our server was very friendly and helpful. Overall, we had a great time!

Yelp
Super yummy Mexican food. I had the quesadilla with rib meat served with a consumé dipping sauce. Wow! Really yummy. Not huge portions but not crazy expensive either. Great service. Cozy and friendly ambiance. Good place for a date night.

Yelp
The service was really good and the timing of everything was on point but I had such high expectations for this place and everyone was so excited to try it. The ambiance is lovely but their fish was not fresh at all on the tostada I instantly lost my appetite. It is not what I expect from a restaurant that has fish as a main protein on their menu, how close we are to the ocean and the reputation of the chef i definitely had higher hopes and expectations. Definitely wouldn't waste my money to lose my appetite again and do not recommend.

Yelp
Very fresh and tasty. I had a fish taco and my friend had a salad.i just wish it was a full wait service experience instead of having to order at the counter

Yelp
We watched this place being built and were excited to try it out, no disappointment at all. To begin with the venue is classy and beautifully decorated. And the food and drinks are amazing. My wife loved the delicious Mezcal Paloma, it was perfect. The ribeye chicharron dish is crazy good, you will need more tortillas. Get the blue corn, fantastic. The seafood Tia Juana taco was to die for. We eyeballed the other dishes coming out of the kitchen. All looked as amazing. Richard was a great host and server/bartender to boot. Don't miss it. Amazing!

Yelp
The food at Corazon Cocina VTA is so consistently good--it's easily one of my favorite spots in Ventura. I'm so happy we finally have Corazon here. The Norteno taco is hands down the best taco I've ever had--perfectly balanced, flavorful, and unforgettable. Their ceviche is also excellent--fresh, bright, and packed with flavor. The space itself is beautiful and feels like it was lifted straight out of Mexico City. You can tell a lot of thought went into every detail, from the design to the menu. This is exactly the kind of restaurant Ventura needed. Can't recommend it enough!

Yelp
Wow!! We were completely blown away by our experience last night at Corazon. Everything from the service to the cocktails, the food and the ambiance was outstanding. Can't wait to come back and make this a regular spot of ours.

Yelp
I am beyond thrilled this restaurant has a branch in Ventura now, not just Santa Barbara. The ambiance is uplifting with colorful tiles, Earthy wood notes, warm natural lighting, and a large green tree indoors. There are 2 outdoor patios (1 in front and 1 out back). My seafood taco with octopus was delicious as was the ceviche with watermelon, pomegranate seeds, avocado, and cucumbers. The portions are filling and generous, which I appreciated. We also ordered a market salad with jicama and radishes that tasted a bit heavy on the agave-infused dressing (may ask for it on the side next time to moderate), but I just added more acid leftover from the ceviche for more balance. Great job overall!

Yelp
we live in Los Angeles and came down to Ventura for the afternoon. I was pleasantly surprised with this restaurant, it was very good. The tacos are sold individually, but they are large and open faced. I had three, but I took one home. The food definitely had its own style and flavors quite unique. I will definitely come here again if I lived in the area.

Yelp
The food was mid at best. Everyone says they like the Norteno taco but it was a few cubes of steak and wayy too many beans, not what I was expecting, it tasted good but not $10 good for one taco. The tortilla also was oily and soggy. The Ensenada was also mid there are better fish tacos around Ventura. Also there was no service you had to order at the front. For the price and ambiance I expected some kind of service. Ambiance was nice. I would say if you are rich then go for it :)
