It took me a few days to post because I've been phoneless. This place is a bit pricy but then again, I don't eat out much because I get authenticity at home. And really, I prefer taquerias.
Ambience was amazing. I loved all the paintings, although can do without some St. Francis de Assisi and more Virgencita. I did appreciate the Frida Kahlo and Cantinflas but it was in a dark hallway on the way to the bathroom. I loved the light fixtures with the strung pom poms. Rate an 8.
Customer service is spot on, a 9.5. My service animal helps me walk, and I tremble. If I had to get my own water, chile, etc, it would have ended up on the floor, spilled ingredients and shattered glass. The young man who helped me was very courteous, his mama would have been proud of him. I was also very happy because I did not get harassed for my dog, believe me I get side looks at other restaurants.
Who made it better? I rate a dish compared to my family, a really high standard. I ordered pozole for a few reasons. I measure great mexican food based on my favorite dishes, I was craving it and could not wait for my momma to cook it, and my neighbor, who is also Mexican, gave me the green light. I give their pozole an overall 7, for several reasons. The flavor was spot on but the texture of the meat was missing something, the chile made it better. Unhappy, because it came with a 1 (one) fried, oily tostada, they were NOT generous with the cabbage, radishes, or lime. I asked for more and could have had 2 more servings of cabbage & radishes. I could do without the avocado because mountains of cabbage, radishes, tostadas, lemon, and chile make this dish. The agua de jamaica was amazing.
Next time, I'll order a chile relleno taco and margarita.
