Oh man.. I was excited for some Italian food and found Corelli's on Yelp with some good reviews so thought we'd give it a try. Service was fine, we were seated right away and they refilled our water and bread as requested. They're pretty quick on bringing you your order as well. But that's where the positives end I'm afraid. We really wanted to like it but none of the food was good, or even edible for that matter, we were highly disappointed. I'm not sure if our tastebuds were off cause of that cheesy breadstick they gave us beforehand drenched in Parmesan but everything tasted off after that. The garlic bread tasted funny - and I normally love garlic and fresh hot bread.
We ordered the appetizer sampler platter which came with bruschetta, mushrooms caps, Italian sausage, and some grilled veggies. The mushroom caps were ok if you compare it to everything else.. We liked the red sauce drenched over it. The bf liked the Italian sausage - it was unique. But the bruschetta with the pesto tasted weird - I can't pinpoint what it was but we didn't like anything about it. The grilled veggies seem to be out there just to fill up the plate, with two tiny shrimps. Meh.. The best thing on the platter was the red sauce.
The bf ordered the lasagna - he literally orders lasagna everywhere and he barely touched this one. If you look at the photo, the lasagna looked like it was premade, refrigerated, cut and reheated in the microwave. The cheese was all coagulated - fresh lasagna just doesn't cut smoothly like this one did. It tasted ok but like how it looked, it didn't taste like fresh ingredients. The only thing fresh was the sauce they spooned over the brick of lasagna. We didn't even take this to go.
I love me some spaghetti forever and always. This one was like a cafeteria spaghetti - where they throw things from a can together and call it spaghetti. The noodles were overdone, the sauce tasted funny - again I can't pinpoint exactly what it was but the sauce was too sweet to me, the meat tasted like frozen hamburger meat. I didn't like the flavors at all - I barely touched my dish and ended up just tossing it when I got home.
I'm usually pretty fair in judging a place and I always feel bad leaving the lowest review. We gave them a one star for service but we felt like we paid for a meal we didn't even touch cause everything was so bad. It's been a long time since I've felt this way about a restaurant. Maybe it was just an off day?! But we wasted money spent here cause the food was all thrown anyway. Boo!
