The 17 Best Spots To Have A Group Dinner In Philly - Philadelphia - The Infatuation

"Corio in University City has a massive menu that just one person can’t conquer. And thanks to the many big wooden tables, and three of your friends replying to a “who’s hungry” text, you won’t have to make the attempt. There’s eight Neapolitan-style pizzas on offer (our favorite is the creamy potato and green garlic), and they all work for a big group dinner, along with a pasta or two, since they all come in generous portions. It’s an easygoing place that works well for both lunch and dinner, surrounded by drinks and your most bucatini-obsessed friends." - candis mclean

The Hit List: New Philadelphia Restaurants To Try Right Now - Philadelphia - The Infatuation

"A sit-down pizza and pasta spot isn’t really a thing in University City—someone probably thought the only way undergrads and doctors want to eat is on the go. But Corio, with its laidback dining space, pop music playing from the speakers, and a menu of Italian-American dishes, is here to dispel that theory. The Neapolitan-style pizza features light and airy crusts (our favorite is the creamy potato and green garlic), the gemelli perfectly blends pepper and parmesan, and the saucy wings have a delicious heat thanks to the hot honey with Calabrian chili. It’s an easygoing place that works well for both lunch and dinner, surrounded by drinks and a few bucatini-obsessed friends. Plus, the front of the house operates as a takeout shop, if you insist on proving the original theory correct." - candis mclean, alison kessler, candis mclean, candis mclean, alison kessler, candis mclean, candis mclean, candis mclean, alison kessler, candis mclean, alison kessler, candis mclean, alison kessler

The Newest Restaurants In Philadelphia - Philadelphia - The Infatuation

"A new pizza and pasta spot has arrived in University City. Corio, open for both lunch and dinner, offers wings, NYC-style pies, and dishes like squash risotto and crab bucatini for both. There’s also a full bar, so you can expect wines and typical cocktails like old fashioneds—but they’re only available in the evening. We checked out Corio and added it to the Hit List." - candis mclean, alison kessler

Google
I’m honestly freaking mind boggled, flabbergasted just downright distraught and confused as to why more people don’t know about this place and why is it no going viral!? Stopped by last night and me and my partner go out about 2x per week to a new restaurant typically. THIS WAS THE BEST NEW RESTAURANT WE HAVE TRIED IN THE LAST 3 months!!! Everything was perfect and you can just taste the carefully well placed thought process behind each dish. The cocktail menu was extremely impressive and unique as well as having some of the best espresso martinis that were upper echelon. The rabbit pizza was superb. The dough was unlike any pizza dough I’ve ever had. Light, thin yet airy and not flakey. Definitely going to return and worth every penny. If you haven’t stopped by here you are missing out on a hidden gem!!!

Google
Sublimely mid. I ordered a meat pasta dish (Italian sausage) and when it came it didn’t have a crumble or inkling of meat. I asked and they said it was blended into the sauce. The sauce was quite watery, and the pasta flavorless and bland. I don’t doubt there was meat in it, but you could not taste it or see it. Im really disappointed because i really wanted to like it and I live close, but I won’t be coming back 😞

Visited Corio for the first time in September 2025, and had a solid first experience. The highlight for sure was the delicious food. Everything we ate was yummy - modern (and often spicy!) takes on pizza and pasta, plus great apps/salads/sides. The atmosphere is a bit disjointed -- split between a very large pickup area (guessing for lunch/takeout), bar seats, bar hightops, and then a very small dining room (4 tables). The only comfortable wooden chairs looked like they were in the dining room, the rest of them appeared to be bulky metal. The service was a little slow (waited 15 mins after our reservation start time to get our table, and another 15 after that to order). We also had a disgruntled server who kept getting upstaged by the hostess, which was awkward but we didn't mind because the hostess was serving us faster. Will def be back to check it out again soon!

My wife and I had a rare, but excellent lunch date at Corio. The location, right in the heart of UCity on Market, is perfect. The restaurant itself is beautiful with a nice drink and food selection. We decided to go with the Crispy Potatoes and the Hazelnut Pesto Pizza, we also got a nice white bean salad. I am not too keen on salads or veggies (I am not a rabbit), but this salad was excellent! I think I even surprised my wife with how much I ate. The potatoes were hot and crispy, the scallion dip accompanied it quite well. Lastly the hazelnut pesto was to die for! I had more than my fair share, and then some. The staff was very attentive and the whole experience wants us to come back ASAP, hopefully for dinner this time. Corio did not disappoint, it did the opposite and we can't wait to dine here again! Kudos to all here

I don’t plan to go back unless someone else is paying. The atmosphere felt quite sterile — uninspired and awkwardly unfinished. The vibe just didn’t feel comfortable. The Crispy Potatoes was the best thing I ordered. They had a perfectly fluffy interior, a crispy exterior and were heavily salted, which I enjoyed but beware if you have sodium restrictions. Unfortunately, my main, the Short Rib Sandwich, was memorably one of the worst things I’ve eaten in a while. It tasted like fish. Imagine the smell of less than fresh, funky, almost rank fish. That’s how it tasted. I love fish and may have been able to accept that flavor if there was a good reason but there was nothing in the ingredients that should have caused that flavor. I did not finish it. If I go back, at someone else’s expense, I’ll try a pizza. Those *looked* decent.

Google
We had the Rabbit Pizzaiola and Gemelli and both were phenomenal! Great price point given the quality you receive and it’s right in U City. Great spot for college folks looking for an upscale experience!

Google
we’ve gotten their seafood white pizza twice now. i dream about it. the pizza crust is nicely crispy with an enjoyable chew that won’t hurt your jaw. recently, we dipped our remaining pizza crust in the crab bucatini pasta. *chefs kiss* next time i want a classic red pizza tho, i’ll definitely get the spicy bolognese. props to the ppl who built the menu!

Google
I have been here three times and it is outstanding. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable and the food is terrific. I've had the margherita pizza, peppers, artichoke, gemelli, and focaccia. All are highly recommended. If this place was any closer to my apartment, I'd have a serious weight problem. :)

Yelp
This place was good! I ordered takeout from here while I was at work, and they were pretty fast with making it and also friendly when I interacted with them. The place itself is quite cute, but I was only there to grab and go lol. I only got the short rib sandwich, and I know they are famous for their pizzas and pastas, but this was also SO GOOD! the bread was so soft and the short rib was delicious and tender with a yummy sauce on it. Hopefully, I can come back and try more! The portion was pretty big too.

Yelp
While I totally appreciate that this spot is new, I do think it has some growing pains to go through before realizing its identity. The menu itself has a few things that could be interesting. We started with the Caesar: there was a bit of a paucity of dressing, the lettuce wedge was a bit hard to eat, and while I fully recognize that Caesar dressing has anchovies in it I am not a fan of serving actual anchovies on top of the salad as I don't feel like it adds anything and if anything detracts from the experience. Spicy bolognese pizza was fine, nothing terribly special and crust could be a bit firmer as the pizza itself was a bit floppy. The bucatini with crab was a total miss, which was disappointing. The sauce totally overpowered any opportunity to taste what (little?) crab there was. The pricing is a bit on the higher end, which could be fine if the food were a bit more elevated. But what I think needs the most work is the overall personality of the restaurant. Everyone was nice enough. But it felt like I was in a hotel lobby the whole time in terms of decor, interactions, etc., and I feel that they would benefit from a bit more personality.

Yelp
My wife and I had a rare lunch date here and it was perfect! The restaurant was beautiful and very welcoming. Bright, warm, and inviting was the immediate thought. We were seated by the awesome host James. Our server was very nice and did an excellent job explaining the menu and bringing out of drinks. To the food, the white bean salad was incredible. This is a lot for me, I choose the unhealthy stuff usually, but this salad was on point! The crispy potatoes were awesome and the charred scallion dip complimented in well! Lastly, the star was the hazelnut pesto pizza. What a unique pizza that was very delicious! This was a perfect spot in an awesome location that will do very well! We can't wait to come back for dinner!

Yelp
The interior of this place is very cute. Gives a modern cafe vibe but still classy. Love it! The waitress was awesome and so were the rest of the staff. We ordered the pizza by mistake thinking it was a pasta dish and they were able to change it. They also give us a piece to try. Very appreciated for what they did. Wings: 5/5 downright one of my favorite. Crispy and very well flavored. It can be a bit spicy for some people. I would compare the spice to be closer to a habanero. It was sweet and spicy; burst full of flavor. A must try. Short Rib Sandwich: 5/5 The meat cooked very well and well seasoned. Love the salsa verde and the sauce. It had the right amount of tangy bite to keep you eating more. Only thing would be that it gets pretty messy. Gemelli: 4/5 cooked to a perfect Al dente. Creamy and delicious. Spicy Bolognese Pizza: 4/5 You gotta eat this as soon as it comes out. Love the crust. Gives you a thin pizza crispiness. The flavors are great and works well. I love it. Only thing would be that it was pretty oily. Might be a turn off for the people that don't like too much oil. Still a great pizza. Overall: Amazing place despite a small lunch menu. There is only one pasta on the lunch menu which is the Gemelli. The rest are pizza just to be warned. I wish they had more pasta options on the lunch menu. Overall you can't go wrong with the food here. It's great!

Yelp
Took my husband here for his birthday last week and we had an amazing time. We don't drink, and appreciated the thoughtful and delicious mocktails. The long hots, strozzapreti and sausage pizza were incredible. Wish there were more dessert options, but we'll definitely be back to try more of the menu! Service was wonderful as well.

Yelp
Had a really nice time. The wings were very tasty with a zing of heat. The peach piazza was an interesting combination of ingredients but ended up being really good. The sesame pasta was tasty with good texture. The staff was attentive and very nice. Recommend going. Great experience.

Yelp
Wow! I was blown away with this new offering in West Philly. The food was remarkable. The ambiance was great. Highly recommend. The pizzas and short rib sandwich are unreal.

Yelp
Wonderful experience overall. We were seated promptly. Staff was attentive and courteous. Summer tomato pizza was delicious. Atmosphere was lively without being overly loud.
