Corks Review - Richmond - San Francisco - The Infatuation

"Drinking wine and eating some pasta in the presence of your own company is one of life’s greatest pleasures. You don’t have to share your noodles with anyone, and can ponder all the ways you’ll furnish your imaginary villa in the countryside in peace. One great place for this carb-y solo date is Corks. The lowkey spot in the Richmond has shelves full of Italian wine, shareable appetizers like prosciutto with burrata and caprese salads, and house-made pasta, including an excellent fettuccine all’amatriciana. It has caramelized chunks of guanciale, slick red onions, bell peppers for added sweetness, and is topped with fresh parmesan. And even though that villa might very much be an unattainable dream, the amatriciana will always be here for you." - Julia Chen

The 8 Most Expensive Burgers in Nashville Right Now | Eater Nashville

"It looks as though the most expensive burger “in Nashville” now actually resides a little south of town at Franklin’s Cork & Cow. Known simply as ‘The Burger,’ the patty is made up of house-ground tenderloin, then topped with Benton’s bacon, Tennessee cheddar, greens, red onion, and truffle aioli. All-in, served with fries: $24." - Eater Staff

Did not disappoint! Our first time as a new somewhat “local”. Sitting at the bar was worth the experience of getting to know many of the restaurant’s “regular” patrons. Good food, drinks and conversations along with a seasoned staff of excellent waiters and bartenders make the evening a repeat experience!

Google
Was excited to eat at such a highly rated Steakhouse. Upon arrival I was greeted with warm smiles and kindness. Atmosphere was great! Reviewed the menu and thought I decided on the Chargrilled Oysters. Waited around and they never came. Ordered their Ole Fashioned and it was extremely sweet likely due to pre made mix. No cherry also! Decided on 45 day dry aged ribeye and it was a disappointment. Expecting a tender melt in your mouth steak and it wasn’t bad but far from the price point. Finally ordered crème burlee and it was watery. Could have been an amazing experience! Just never met my expectations. Other steakhouses I am been blown away at for comparison sake is Oak Steakhouse. Charleston, SC. Malones Lexington, KY, Halls Chophouse, Charleston, SC.

This place was rustic and somewhat quaint. And the food was tasty. We sat at the bar for an early dinner, bartender was very nice. An overall good experience!

Google
This is our favorite restaurant in Williamson county. My wife and I came for our anniversary and it was beyond amazing. Of the 20+ times we've been, it keeps getting better. The food was absolutely amazing, but the service was stellar. Barry was fantastic and gave us perfect direction from cocktails to dessert. I will be coming back purely for his expertise and personality. Thank you Cork and Cow for another fabulous night! We'll continue to recommend everyone we can to your door!

No words can fully describe the experience. We celebrated 52 years since our first date. Incredible atmosphere, food, and service. We will return again and again.

Google
Pretty disappointed with our last visit to cork n cow. We were in town visiting family we have eaten here for many years. We haven’t been in about two years because we left the area. So we were really eager and excited to eat at our favorite place. Sadly we don’t plan on coming back. The service was fair, food portions have gotten smaller and smaller over the years. And to top it off my mule was so watered down it was terrible. They had ran out of bread that they now charge $5 for. For over 220 dollars it was such a disappointment. I recommend going else well for your time and money.

Google
Walking old Franklin? Drop in as early as 4:00 pm Saturday, limited service at the bar until 5:00 pm. Service is excellent at the full bar, with an expansive domestic and continental wine list. Executive Chef Jake Plahuta swears by the Bruschetta and the Scallops which are both particularly good, lots of flavors, perfectly prepared. The setting is a chic steakhouse, with subdued lighting.

Chad Cwold

Google
Start with the good. Service, attention, atmosphere, ambiance, all the A’s. Food is where we struggled a bit. Scallops were small in size (baby scallops) and had a ton of sauce on them. The Elk was charred, got to almost the burnt side. Setup was great! Wife had the filet and that was perfect. Carrot cake was great, not amazing but that’s a tall feat. The gnocchi, requested less sauce was the star!

Yelp
We had a great experience both from a service perspective as well as food quality. The truffle butter for the steak is a must and the appetizers were all great - we had the oysters, wedge and house bread. For our mains we had a ribeye, filet both cooked to perfections. For our sides we had fries, risotto and broccolini. The desserts were a tad underwhelming but that didn't take away from the overall experience. Exceptional service and experience overall!

Yelp
My high expectations were most definitely met! My husband is very particular about how he likes his steaks cooked. He likes them rare cold and it's so hard to find a grill man that has done that before. He was so happy to have his steak prepared exactly the way he wanted it. For apps the pork belly was good but the fontina crepe was outstanding! My husband ordered the manchego risotto and roasted broccolini with his steak. We both agreed that the risotto was in our top five favorite risottos we've ever had. I had the braised short ribs, it was very good. To top the meal off we had the incredible pear crisp which was definitely a wow! They were out of several different bourbons but we settled on the pappy 10 with a lemon twist and a cup of coffee for me. The service was excellent thanks to our wonderful server. The bar was a bit loud but sitting at the table away from it helped bring the noise down a bit. Will definitely return!

Yelp
Home of the best old fashioned I've ever had. Definitely should have one if you come to this place. Cork and cow came highly recommended to me by friends, located right in the downtown on Franklin this is a super cute place for date night or intimate dinner with friends. Everything was absolutely delicious and service was amazing. Started off with their wedge salad and ordered their short rib which fell right off the bone, their filet was also perfectly cooked and the potatoes really made the dish. Will definitely be back!
google avatar

Yelp
Best steak I have ever had! Also their Brussels sprouts are amazing! I would recommend this place to anyone in the area!

Yelp
We enjoyed our dinner here and the service was absolutely excellent! We sat in the loft area and enjoyed the quieter side of the restaurant! The bread in the skillet was so yummy and my salad was just delicious! The ribeye was melt in your mouth and the fries might be the best fries I've ever had! Will be back!

Yelp
Had a perfect dining experience at Cork & Cow. Food was made to perfection and our server was very knowledgeable about the food and drinks. The charcuterie board was by far the smallest one I've ever seen for that price - seriously, don't order it.
google avatar

Ashley U.

Yelp
Went here to celebrate my husband's graduation and was easily able to make a reservation. He loves steak and I'm a vegetarian but we were both able to find things we could eat. Our waiter was super knowledgeable and helpful with our orders and recommendations. It's a smaller restaurant but the ambiance is charming. Do recommend for a more upscale dinner experience.
google avatar

Brittan G.

Yelp
The service was amazing and they were able to handle our food allergy without issue! The filet was amazing but the blue cheese brussel sprouts are the star!
google avatar

Lynne B.

Yelp
Wow this place is amazing! Adrian was our server and he did a great job! Super cute downtown restaurant. We had the salad, steaks and potatoes! Don't skip the bread either! Worth the extra charge. Lots of food. Absolutely delicious!
google avatar

Yelp
We ordered the charcuterie and oysters for an appetizer- charcuterie wasn't great but the oysters were delicious. The main dishes took forever- I ordered scallops which were amazing- my wife ordered a filet .... Which looked more like the NY strip- it came out cold - which probably explains why it took so long for the food to come out- thinking maybe they cooked the steak, forgot the scallops then had to let the steak sit. Pretty sure the waiter knew because he avoided the table as well. My food was good, but the experience overall seemed overpriced.

Yelp
Wasn't super impressed with this place. Steak was ok, but there are definitely better options in Franklin. Cute bar area. Would probably be back for just pre dinner drinks.

John M.

Yelp
Fantastic local gem in downtown Franklin under Executive Chef Jake Plahuta. The appetizers Fontina crepe and lamb lollipops are delicious. We enjoyed the filet and the Kansas City Strip, with broccolini. The crème brûlée was an excellent dessert. The wine list has depth and is well curated. It's not easy to get a reservation, and the bar fills up fast, so book early!

Yelp
I've been a couple of times. First visit was great! Second, not so much. First experience was absolutely perfect. From food, to service, and everything in-between. Flawless. Steaks were cooked perfectly. Meat was tender and flavorful. Service was flawless. Just an all around great night. My second visit was a Birthday celebration and was a complete let down. While the service was decent, not great, but good... The meal itself was horrible. From the watered down Old Fashioned, to the tough and grossly undercooked steaks, it was a failure on most levels. Not only was it not worth the money, it was not worth the time. Since the first visit was so good, and the most recent one was horrid, I averaged it to three stars. I will note, the Birthday meal was so bad, I almost went with two stars. IF I go back to try it again, and IF it's a better experience, I will update my review. But for now, I can not, and will not, recommend Cork and Cow to neighbors, friends, and visitors. Yes... My last visit was that bad.

Yelp
My wife and I had a most fabulous anniversary dinner here at Cork and Cow. With are tastes being vastly different it was great that she got a perfectly well done and still flavorful filet and I got a medium rare tomahawk. The service was incredible and they walked use through all the apps as well as the desserts. The drink recommendations were great as well. We were able to be sat up stairs and really had a great level of privacy. The dinner was dimly lit, we were able to enjoy each other's company, and carry on conversation easily at a normal volume. 10 out of 10 definitely coming back.

Yelp
I was able to snag a spot at the bar, and I normally would pass on a restaurant if I can sit at a table as I feel a bit neglected usually by the staff when sitting at the bar. I will say, it was lovely. All the bartenders were so accommodating, friendly & attentive. The filet was so delicious and buttery. They had plenty to choose from on the menu and the deserts looked phenomenal.

Yelp
Really nice ambiance. I really enjoyed my meal . Great for a date night . I would deff recommend

Yelp
What a great place to go, although a little expensive. You can't go wrong with what you get and the service ranks up there with the tops in Franklin
google avatar

David ..

Yelp
Stellar food and service. Wife and I each had a steak, the Old Fashioned Drink was top notch and to end the S'mores Desert was excellent. Favorite meal we've had in Franklin so far.

Yelp
WORTH THE SEARCH TO FIND! Visiting friends that we were meeting here for dinner. Very busy eclectic street for a Tuesday night. After circling to find parking we walked and stood in front of a bar called 55 SOUTH. A waitress saw us looking puzzled and she asked, You look'n for CORK & COW? She led us through the bar into a back room that had a "speak easy" kind of feel.......and there were our friends waiting at that bar. Once seated. Our waitress was friendly, attentive and well versed on the menu. My filet was seasoned with their lemon butter and coarse salt was tasty tender and cooked to perfection. Their "special house" Old Fashion was really good and a bit different. We would definitely make this quaint, unpretentious high end steak spot a regular if we lived here. High five to our great waitress originally from NY! 4 out of 5 due to hard to find for first time out of towners and tables a bit too close. Great food and great service!

Yelp
Great steaks. Great location. The bartenders are a lot of fun too. Cork & Cow is one of the hidden gems in downtown Franklin. #IYKYK

Yelp
I was in Franklin TN with the wife and heard this place was very good. I'd say the word is excellent! One of the best tomahawk steaks we have ever had. My daughter is the GM at one of the premier steakhouses in so cal. And we eat at her place once every other month, we love her place but, Cork and Cow is head and shoulders above. The ambiance the decor the people, it was superb. We had a great time and will definitely return when, we are back in Tenn in March
google avatar

Yelp
OMG! The best steak I've had! The food was amazing. The bread is outstanding! Drinks were so good. Cheese cake was delicious! I will go again and again whenever I'm here visiting!

Yelp
My family and friends are avid steakhouse enthusiasts and bourbon drinkers. We have been waiting some time to catch a reservation to this restaurant which came highly recommended. To say we were very disappointed is a understatement. The appetizers we had were good but not spectacular. We had the pork belly and lamb chops. I could have and should have enjoyed these with a barrage of bottle pouring and called it a night. Sadly I continued. How it started: When we arrived a few moments early. We were asked to wait in the bar which was not busy but was petite. It caused our party of 4 to have separate tables. No big deal as we anticipated our ascension upstairs to the resteraunt soon. We were unpleasantly surprised when the hostess found us to tell the party our table was ready. They had us close out our tab before moving to the resteraunt so we thought. Sadly we moved a total of 3 feet to a bar table of 4 and were seated by the front door. How ridiculous, why not just have us wait till a table in the main room. was ready. Dinner: COLD..... Our reservations were at 830pm, we got sat at 9pm, dinner came out at 10pm. Getting drinks was a chore, we had to continue to remind the "waiter" that our drinks need fill and our sides had been forgotten. We ordered 3 filet and a ribeye. 3 cold ribeyes (the butter would not melt on top of the steaks) and a ribeye textured like a rubber shoe sole. The waiter asked if all was OK, I informed him of my dislikes and I did not want my steak taken back. My intent was to give it to the dogs at home. I certainly did not want to wait another hour for a mediocre steak to only be made more unhappy. Our sides, "risotto" was like Vietnam soaked rice texture, "gnocchi" was like a half cured glue tubes seasoned in pocket lint. "Broccolini" was MIA and when we reminded the waiter of our order. We received 4 greensticks. Cold as if they pulled out the can opener and poured out the contents onto a cold plate. Our experience could have been out of the ordinary but our intent is to keep clear of this restaurant again. Our reservations, appetizers, main course and overall feeling of "well spent money" from Cork amd Cow could have been overshadowed by any resteraunt franchise. When you're spending in excess you expect an excess of feeling its well spent.

Yelp
Heard great things about Cork Cow and it lived up to expectations. We had a bone-in ribeye a couple of filets, the lamb chop appetizer, and the beef tartare appetizer, and all were quite delicious. Our server took very good care of us all night long, and was extremely attentive. Loved the cozy atmosphere. Reservations a must.
google avatar

Yelp
Awesome!!! One of the best NY strips I have had. Wife had fish and said best in over a year, as good as in Cabo!! Great service. Broccolini was great as well as potatoes. Turley old vines $105! Costs 37 and home, so wine prices are very marked up!! Service great and pretty loud! Food is of excellent quality. The bourbon cocktail was out of this world!!!
google avatar

Yelp
I came here the other night with friends in search of a high quality steak. I ordered the bone in ribeye and it was breathtaking. The wedge salad was delicious. Even my Diet Coke with a side of limes tasted true and refreshing. We also ordered some robust rods of asparagus and later I noticed a strange odor in my urine, which I believe is standard.

Larry K.

Yelp
At the suggestion of a Franklin friend to "try" to get a reservation at Cork &Cow, we placed a call while driving south on I65. Initially we were told they had a table at either 5PM or 7:45PM. The early time was impossible with traffic conditions and operating on Eastern time, the later was about bedtime. So on we drove, searching for another dining location. AND THEN, my phone buzzed and an angel named Lauren, told me she could work things out. From there, things just got better. C&C is located centrally, in historic Franklin. Parking can be problematic. The atmosphere is inviting and well appointed. Steakhouse, upscale casual would suit it well. Once a Cork was pulled, the evening only got better. Our waitress friendly and informative, the manager, Paul introduced himself and gave his menu suggestions. As a first time visitor, it made me feel welcome. A large round loaf of delicious bread arrived in an iron skillet smothered in whipped butter. It took a great deal of restraint note to devour every crumb. The Caesar salad was tasty with light cream dressing. We ordered the 10oz filet with red skin house potatoes. The Cow was perfectly charred over maple(?) would flames. Could not have been more pleased with the quality of the beef. The grilled, garlic shrimp add on were good, I would have preferred a larger count shrimp. The house potatoes were large baked red skins with chimmichurri-delicious. As a side we opted for sautéd spinach with Parmesan. To our surprise, the arrived with a fried egg on top. Cork and Cow is good enough to be a destination! No wonder Reservations are just not recommended. Just wish I didn't live over 400 miles away, there are many more of the menu items I'd like to try. Deserts, couldn't comment, still licking bread crumbs from my fingers.
google avatar

Yelp
Classy and comfortable upscale restaurant in downtown Franklin. reservations are highly recommended, we didn't have reservations but were able to score two seats at the bar. I had the nightly special which was grilled halibut a top of polenta with a side of grilled asparagus. Everything was outstanding! Our bartender, John, did a great job serving us!
google avatar

Kim D.

Yelp
I was at a conference in town and was referred to Cork and Cow by a local person. The ambiance of the restaurant was nice and the server was very attentive. The food on the other hand was nothing special. I had the bone in rib-eye and it was a very poor quality cut of meat. It was very tough and was at least 30% fat. I have no problem paying for a good steak, but this could not even listed in the "decent" category. I would try somewhere else if you have a choice.

Frank S.

Yelp
This is one of the best steak places in the entire Nashville area. The food and service are always great. It's a bit pricey but every steak restaurant is.

Yelp
Convenient parking garage just across the street. It's a surprisingly small space with a lively bar near the front, and the dining behind and on an open second floor section above. We were first seated at a lone table in the corner right at the bar, and with the Friday night bar rowdiness going on, it was so loud it would have been impossible to have a conversation, so we asked to be moved to the main dining area, where it was still very loud, but not as painfully so. They have an interesting mixed drink program; found their version of a last word, with tequila instead of gin, to be particularly interesting and tasty. Grilled oysters were a nice shared small starter, good flavor and presentation. Good salads, liked the wedge, which was interestingly served with a couple bonus deviled eggs on the side, a fun touch. We both liked the cook and flavor on the steaks. I was a touch amused by the piles of butter, first on the bread and later on the steaks. A bit over the top, but no biggy. Wife commented they deserved 5 stars for perfectly cooking a medium filet, which she's found hard to be served without repeated attempts. Steaks come with a couple new potatoes but it's still best to order a sharable side. We did the mac and cheese, and though it didn't "change our lives" as the wait person suggested it might, it was a good choice. Attentive service. We might be slow to return, but primarily because the noise level is a bit much for a nice steak dinner.

Yelp
This place is a gem! Showed up without a reservation, but we got lucky and were able to be seated at the bar. The place is beautiful and classy. The food and drinks were AMAZING, but what really stood out to me was the service of everyone there. Our Bartender John was literally the BEST! He was knowledgeable, quick and was an absolute joy to have as our bartender who also gave us a history lesson on the place and also on Franklin since he is a local and was born and raised there. This Vegas Native loved the experience.

Yelp
Amazing service & food! Showed up with 2 friends, we didn't have a reservation but we were able to seat at the bar. John (our bartender) was amazingly kind and nice the whole night. The cocktails and food recommendations he made were on point! Most if you're in Franklin.

Yelp
We will definitely come back to cork and cow. Actually my fiancé keeps asking can we just go sit at the bar and eat cork and cow again?! Steak was amazing, and they gave me a free crème brûlée for my bday. Service was amazing, great wine and whiskey selections. The ambiance was cozy!

Yelp
The food was amazing! Service was great. New favorite restaurant in Franklin for sure.

Yelp
Needs more items to choose from on menu, but the steaks are pretty good. Very romantic vibe. Great date night. Expand your palate.

Yelp
Excellent experience tonight! Make sure to book a reservation; we were very lucky and they happened to have a table available even though we didn't reserve a table. Our server was Adrian and he raised the bar for all future experiences. Make sure you get the Asparagus with cavier! We will be back!

Yelp
Great place for steak and seafood. The fish is some of the freshest in Nashville, highly recommend!

Jimmy S.

Yelp
it's a local hangout. overall it was good - we went for a nice dinner (my wife and I) for my birthday. it was a little salty and I thought it was over priced for what we got. with so many options in town, I'd just go to another steakhouse before I'd return.

Yelp
What a glorious day I spent in Nashville yesterday. A round of golf with my eldest and a dear friend and capping the evening with a very nice dinner at the Cork and Cow Steakhouse. Nestled into a beautiful community in Montgomery County, this landmark steakhouse is the real deal. The ambiance has an "Old South" feel to it. It's a big restaurant! It needs to be big, due to its popularity. Last night was packed. Just by the volume of people here, I'm thinking you really need a reservation to get a table. The four of us had: A terrific wedge salad with all of the standard wedge salad fixings. Their French fries were really good and their dipping sauce was better. A loaf of their excellent baked bread with onion butter was a definite high point. I had a bone in rib-eye steak that tasted delicious. One problem though: The temperature was off by 15°. It was cold! Here's the problem with that. You order a medium-rare steak cooked perfectly. You send that perfectly cooked piece of meat back to the kitchen to raise the temperature from cold to warm. Now you have a medium steak not a medium-rare steak. So, what do you settle for? Your cold medium-rare steak or a warm medium cooked steak. I chose the former choice! Both were lose / lose! At these prices one shouldn't be put in this situation. With all of the good things this lovely restaurant offers this one faux pas just wasn't right.

Yelp
Incredible food, drinks, and service. Our server, Barry, was very informative, knowledgeable, and helped us have the best experience for our anniversary dinner. My favorite fine dining experience in Franklin, TN hands down! I'd give more than 5 stars if possible.

Yelp
Food and atmosphere were tops. Cool to see Iberico Secreto on the menu. Manager Allison is the best!!

Yelp
We had a great food and service experience here. Cocktails, excellent whiskey list and food were all great. Our server was exceptional and took the time to give us advice on our selections.

Yelp
One of my favorite dining experiences in Franklin. Beautiful restaurant, friendly staff, nice drink selections, and delicious food. Dinner begins with bread service of a huge dome of steamy rosemary bread and a giant dollop of whipped butter in a cast iron skillet. Loved it. The peach arugula salad with goat cheese is a lovely salad course. For entrees I'm sure all of the steaks on the menu are incredible, but I enjoyed the filet with gorgonzola horseradish butter. Perfection. It was served with 2 perfectly roasted smashed potatoes. Another entree highlight was the crispy snapper. Delicious.

Carla J.

Yelp
Excellent service & delicious food & beverage! The ambiance is great and its so convenient in Downtown Franklin.

Yelp
We have dined here several times and it always exceeds our expectations. Reservations should be made well in advance (2 weeks)...a testament to the restaurant's popularity.

Yelp
Went her for my bday dinner with a party of 4. Service was excellent and the food was delicious. However, ambiance was lacking - the tables are very crowded together and it is extremely noisy. We were disappointed that the first two items we tried to order we were told "sorry that's sold out" and "sorry that's not available" for wine that was on the wine list and soup that was on the menu. Keep it updated and keep your guests informed before they order. It was only 5:30 so there's no way they sold out already. A simple step to update or be prepared would have helped with no disappointment. Our entrees were delicious. Dinner for 4 with a few cocktails and half off wine was about $425. A little pricey for the lack of ambiance and for being out of menu items. I don't think we will be back, but it was a good meal overall.

John S.

Yelp
A real suprise. Nice atmosphere, great service and really good steak. The filet was one of the best we've had in years. Half price bottle night on Sunday was a big suprise. We will return for sure

Kim W.

Yelp
Excellent service. Our waiter was great. He had strong recommendations and did not oversell. We enjoyed wonderful cocktails. Steak was seasoned deliciously. We split the bone in rib eye with a wedge salad and asparagus. It was all excellent! We will definitely be returning. It's old school ambiance and great for a date night.

Carlos T.

Yelp
Service is terrible won't return calls. Do not come here drive to Franklin. AVOID AT ALL COSTS
