The Best Places to Dine in Fredericksburg, Virginia | Eater DC

"This intimate fine dining restaurant offers a surprisingly affordable prix-fixe menu (3, 4, or 6 courses for $54, $62, or $85). Chef and sommelier James Fallon—a CIA grad—crafts a seasonal menu with thoughtful wine pairings. Think dishes like seared scallops over jasmine rice or artisan cheeses like Goat Rodeo’s Bamboozle, finished with beer from Pittsburgh’s Cinderlands Beer Co. End with sticky toffee pudding paired with Madeira for the ultimate sweet-on-sweet finale." - Robey Martin

We had the pleasure of dining at Cork and Table for our anniversary, and it truly made the evening special. We both chose the four-course meal, which gave us the chance to try dishes we wouldn’t normally order. For example, I went with the Puree of Roast Parsnips for my soup, something I’d never tried before, but our server mentioned it was her favorite, so we gave it a shot. It was delicious! Every course was beautifully presented and full of flavor. The service was excellent , friendly, attentive, and very knowledgeable. We’ll definitely be back!

Interesting spot in an old theater in the middle of the historic district. We had the 6 course tasting menu with wine pairings. Everything was very nicely done.

As foodies who appreciate exceptional cuisine and fine dining experiences, my husband and I were impressed with our date night evening at Cork and Table. We made reservations for a Wednesday evening and it felt like we had the restaurant to ourselves. We chose the cheese tasting for two and the six-course chef’s tasting menu, and each dish was a thoughtfully and elegantly plated and some featured a creative use of plant-based ingredients that I really enjoyed such as quinoa, chickpeas, coconut milk and agar gelatin. I'm not a big watermelon fan, but the watermelon salad was a dish I could eat a whole bowl of! What really set the experience apart was being personally served by Jim, the chef and owner. His hospitality, passion, and culinary artistry elevated the meal into something truly memorable. The menu changes with each season, so we plan to come back and try future menus. From start to finish, it was an intimate and refined dining experience that we’ll be recommending to fellow food lovers.

I took my husband here for Father’s Day for the first time. The atmosphere was really nice and quiet. The service and food were phenomenal! I I found the portions to be a decent size so you can finish every course. We got the crab and corn chowder, the duck breast salad, the smoked salmon salad, filet and shrimp, crab crusted salmon, sticky toffee pudding, and the cheesecake. Everything was delicious, especially the main courses! We definitely cleaned the plates 😂! We will definitely be returning!

This restaurant is a schizophrenia wonderland. Lets start with the neon pink sign followed by the 1950s black and white checkered hallway. You are asked seated behind a heavy tan suede cloth curtain. Then you are seated at wooden tables with no table cloths and weird knick knacks. A ladder, a cubby with books and old maps on the wall. It was very quiet. Oddly quiet. We were the only people there and that should have been a red flag. The appetizer a shrimp and corn chowder or something to that effect was disgusting. I could smell it from a mile away before it ever reached the table. The taste was revolting. The duck salad was ok. Except the duck looked like strips of left over Arby's roast beef. The dinner I sent back because what they did to the halibut was criminal. First of all, it shouldn't be rubbery like a dogs chew toy. Second, they essentially kicked the fish down a mountain of table salt and then just for kicks tossed it into pancko bread crumbs. I sent it back. All you could taste was fishy saltiness. Why would you do that to such a beautiful fish? Also whatever was under the halibut was not farro it was burned crunchy rice. Got the steak with mash instead. Why were the steak medallions so tiny? Who is back there with a cookie cutter carving out tiny pieces of steak? Also. That was not a mash. It was a parsnip pure, and overly sweetened. The only thing worth its weight was the cheesecake factory cheesecake which I know was not cooked by the chef. It was very obvious. The wine pairings made no sense. We ended up getting McDonald's on the way home. We won't be back. Skip this disgusting restaurant. Fire the chef. Shut it down and start over from scratch.

Every detail is well thought out, making our dining experience truly amazing. The food was perfectly cooked, and the presentation was top-notch. The wine pairings were phenomenal. I highly recommend Cork and Table!

Google
I loved my visit to Cork and Table everything from the ambiance, the service, to the food and wine pairings was top notch. Our host was very friendly and helpful during our whole meal! It really felt like a friend hosting a private dinner party. Each of us did the 4 course dinner with wine parings and I would highly recommend this if it's your first time.

Karen K.

Google
We had the most amazing meal at Cork and Table. Some in our party (well-traveled ones) said it was the finest meal they had ever eaten. I concur. The parsnip soup was a new recipe for me and wonderful. The owner/chef is so engaging and loves what he does. His joy in cooking and serving is contagious.

Yelp
Cork and Table is a small establishment so reservations are required. The ambience is very nice with wines decorating the walls and maps of wine growing regions. The menu changes regularly since it is chef driven. I attended for my birthday and chose the 4 course menu. The food was cooked perfectly, however portions are quite small. The wines are very nice and the servers are knowledgeable, but I have experienced better wine/food pairings. It's a lovely meal and experience with a higher price point for the area, but definitely worth trying at least once.

Yelp
It is always a pleasure dining at Cork & Table. The cuisine is carefully prepared. The staff are attentive. Highly recommend it.

Yelp
Excellent food, wine, and service. The selections were great, and portions perfect. We will be back!

Yelp
Classified as a non-pretentious fine dining experience, the pricing begs to differ. For ~$100 for a four-course meal with wine pairing, I was slightly disappointed. While the flavor of the food was delicious, the wine pairings felt inadequate, especially for a doubling of the price to have that included. The wine didn't taste exceptional and most had flat flavors without many tones. For the dishes, they had decent flavors. I really appreciated the monthly soup special of a butternut squash with truffle oil, the portobello mushroom salad, the scallops and the Wagyu beef filet mignon (especially that shrimp), and their delicious toffee pudding for dessert. The one dish that felt underrated was their salmon. The carrot-ginger broth overwhelmed the taste of the salmon, such that the fish didn't have much flavor. I did appreciate the service and the wait staff, who were incredibly kind, professional, and well-trained. They made it a lovely dining experience In general, I'd recommend their 3 or 4-course menu without the wine pairings. One should book in advance as there is limited seating.

Yelp
My first time here and have been eyeing this spot for years. And my oh my wasn't disappointed. It is a rather small intimate restaurant. In think they have seating downstairs and they added on a bar area for wine and beer tasting which I'll check out sometime. You have to go w one of their Pre-fixed meal plans either 4 or 3 course w or without wine pairings. Wife and I did the 4 w wine and also added onThe cheese and charcuterie sample. The cheese selection and meats were very good. I had the Corn and Crab chowder soup as a first course w a white sparking wine. I'm not a white wine person any longer but it wasn't bad the soup was ok. Could use some more seasoning, a little pepper would have done the trick. Next course was smokes salmon salad which was good. My wife had duck and yes it was fantabolous. Main course I had scallops w a full Maine lobster tail add-on which was very good. Idk what the complementing side was, like a black cous-cous but it was cool. Last part, I had the cannolis and my wife cheesecake. The cheesecake was very very good. Wasn't a big slice like Cheesecake Factory but decent. Cannolis were tasty. Each meal came w a different wine pairing and they were all good and paired well. From a light red Spanish blend to a bold Pinot Noir ended buy a dessert white wine. Go here for a good experience and good wine. Four courses sounds like a lot but I left satisfies but could eat again. Service was very good. Server explained the origin and inspiration of the restaurant and chef as well as the wine selections.

Yelp
I've come to find that Fredericksburg has some really nice spots but none nicer than Cork and Table. I like to switch it up on occasion and get away from the hustle and bustle of the city, that said, F'burg is the perfect destination. Cork and Table is Chef owned and man he's got a great thing going! From the title, this is a wine based restaurant and although I'm no wine connoisseur, I do partake every once in a while. The food is excellent. I went for the lamb chops while my friend chose the filet topped with Jumbo shrimp. With the exposed windows into the kitchen, we can see the Chef pouring into his creations and they came out perfect! Cork and Table follows the Fixed Price dinner menu model with the 4 course being $52pp while the 3 course being $46pp. I've never seen so many entrée options on a Prix fixe menu.. I was thoroughly impressed! If you're ever near Fredericksburg and you want a refined dining experience, go to Cork and Table.. You'll absolutely love it!

Yelp
We are NEVER disappointed when we eat with Cork & Table. We were a large group and each meal came out perfect. The wine pairings are great because it opens you to new choices. I love this place $$$$

Yelp
Delightful dining experience Reservations are a must. The cheese addition was definitely worth it. The mushrooms with the salad were great. The scallops are AMAZING. The smoked duck salad was very tasty.

Yelp
Such an amazing gem in downtown Fredericksburg. Space is larger than depicted in the photos but still cozy and intimate. Food was delicious! Service was on point! Timing between courses was perfect! The crab and corn chowder was more on the soup side but packed with crab meat and robust flavors. The salmon salad was tasty. My friend had the duck salad and said it was the best salad he's eaten "in his life". The sautéed waygu steak was perfectly seasoned and sliced like butter. The potatoes was seasoned right with the right amount of butter. My friend had the lamp chops and said they were excellent. The menu is 3,4 and 6 course prefix menu. Great price and great wine pairing suggestions. The chef/owner prepared our meals that night and with the open dining area we were able to see him at work preparing the meals. Not sure if this is a routine thing but the server did say they were short staff. Either way, no complaints from us to have the owner/chef prepare our entrees. Honestly, the entire dinner went smoothly and was excellent so we wouldn't have never guessed it. I enjoyed everything about this restaurant.

Yelp
Great atmosphere, food, wine, and knowledgeable and attentive staff. Love this place!

Yelp
Great food, wine, and service. We did the three course menu and everything was delicious and cooked to perfection. We get so bored of eating our as every menu seems to have the same dishes that taste the same. This chef truly creates his menu with unique flavor combinations that surprise the palate in wonderful ways. We live 1 1/2 hours away and will return just for this wonderful dining experience.

Yelp
Date night with my boyfriend at this place really hit the spot . Food was delicious, atmosphere was excellent, and service was outstanding . Andrew really blew us away, had lots of knowledge on the wines. Very attentive and personable. 5 star service.

Yelp
This place I just can't... I mean, this was the absolutely BEST food experience I have had to date!! I booked reservations for my boyfriend's birthday because we enjoy food and wine pairings and I had found this place on the internet and thought it was right up his ally. The ambiance is clean and modern. The food is off the chart. And the service was okay... with the most cordial person being the chef who brought one of our meals out and chatted with us a bit. I would normally enter in to a long drawn out review here, but I am reading others' and they say it best. I will say that the Salmon and Ginger was actually one of the best morsels of food I have ever put in my mouth! And I despise Salmon. LOL
google avatar

Joseph L.

Yelp
Excellent restaurant, the chef is always on hand and creates delicious combinations. They use a pre fixe style menu which can be paired with the perfect wine per course. I recommend also getting on their list for special wine events. It will take most of the evening, but worth it. You can also leave with some bottles.

Yelp
I came during restaurant week (my favorite time of the year!), but ended up just ordering off the regular menu. I went with a group of three others and we all pretty much ordered the same thing. Everyone started with the crab and corn chowder, which was excellent and light and full of crab. My salad was the smoked duck breast salad with strawberries and chevre, which was great! It was my first experience eating duck and i was not disappointed. Let me back track, two ppl ordered a cheese plate and charcuterie board. It was SO MINIMAL! Like, i don't understand how they could charge $14 for the cheese and $14 for the charcuterie. It should have been both together for the $14, in my opinion. We all did the 4 course meal, two with wine pairings. There was not even an offer or suggestion on an additional glass of wine with the charcuterie, which was surprising. It was also difficult to flag down our server, even though it is a rather small establishment, to order wine. One person in the party asked for a glass of champagne and the server poured it into the wine glass at the table. HEAVENS! should it not come in a flute?? Back to the food. The soup and salad courses were wonderful, and then came the entree. We all got the crab stuffed salmon which came over rice with a sauce over top of it. Salmon was perfectly cooked, i thoroughly enjoyed the main course and the flavor profile. I got the espresso chocolate mouse, which was pretty good but more in the bittersweet side. I took some of the caramel on my friend's sticky toffee pudding and that made the mousse so much better! I was given one bite of sticky toffee pudding from my friend and it was phenomenal! Next time I'll get that instead of trying to order something different just bc we're all ordering the same things. One friend requested an additional sticky toffee pudding to go and the server she asked said she would try, but the ice cream isn't portable. It would slide off the pudding. My friend asked "do you have a cardboard or Styrofoam box? " she nodded, "it will be just fine". Never in my day had anyone told me i can't have a dessert to go bc the ice cream isn't portable and would roll off the dang cake. You package it separately, man! I was a server for over ten years and that was never a concern of mine! All in all great food, smaller portions, so you're just satisfied and not full or stuffed at the end. It would have been nice if the portions were a lil bit bigger so i would have some left over to take home, but i was still pleased with the food, service and price! I will certainly be back!

Yelp
Wow!! I can't say enough good things about Cork & Table. The space itself is very cool, tucked away just a few steps from the bustle of Caroline Street, inside the old theater, in a cool contemporary space. It is all coursed or pre fixe menus and they have a lot of good choices & supplements to create your perfect combo. We all did 3 courses & can report back rave reviews for the wagyu medallions, surf & turf, and Asian vegetable stew. The Sticky Toffee Pudding was delicious & we ate every last bite. The bread was so soft & I almost never comment on the bread haha. Wine selection was great. Service was excellent. Also very reasonably priced. I can't wait to go back!

Yelp
excellent meal, excellent service, excellent wines. top notch across the board. I've had this on my "Try Sometime" list for quite a while, but we never seemed to find the opportunity - guess I can blame the embarrassment of riches restaurant-wise in the Fredericksburg area. now that we've tried it, I figure we'll be back. we had the 6 course chef's signature tasting meal. every course was better than the last. soft flavorful cheese spread, crab & corn chowder, smoked duck breast, salmon with crab stuffing, and wagyu filet mignon. my favorite was the smoked duck - elegant, rich, and perfectly smoked. I realized that my red wine flight represented most of the pairings for the meal, which worked out nicely. the duck had a perfect pairing in the Viña Temprana Old Vines Garnacha - the wine touches your tongue & the rich smoky flavors explode in your mouth. delicious. the pinot and cab paired nicely with the salmon and steak respectively, but nothing like the fireworks between the duck and Garnacha. dessert was excellent - sticky toffee pudding for me, and they let my wife deviate from the menu to have the dark chocolate pot de creme. very tasty.

Yelp
I had been really looking forward to dining here. As a wine lover, the paired selections sounded great, but the experience turned out to be a horrible date night for me and my fiancée. First, we were placed within arm's length of a table of 10 that had to be the most loud and inconsiderate family on the East Coast. They didn't just talk over each other, they yelled over each other the entire night. While not the restaurant's fault, the annoyance was obvious and the staff could have placed us elsewhere. But now let's talk about the service and food. The service was limited to this: take order, deliver course, remove plates. You had to flag down a server for a water refill and we had to go get our own steak knife. As for the food, every course that should have been served hot, came out room temperature at best. I ordered the filet mignon at a medium temp and after one bite my appetite was gone as the steak was served blue (raw). Not even a line cook at Denny's could make that mistake. When I informed the server, she was unphased. Trying to be pleasant I told her no need for a refire (plus she was just coming to get our plates and my fiancée had finished her meal long before that). I did ask that she inform the chef and show him so it doesn't happen again -- as I asked on my way out she stated that she did not inform him. Reading the other reviews, I now know why. The chef/owner, Jim, is a little soup Nazi but without the skill to justify the snobbery. Diners who complain are told by the chef they are wrong. Other diners have witness him berating his own staff as the dining room watched in horror. The reason why the waitress didn't tell the chef that he can't even cook a steak is because she didn't want to deal with the confrontation -- so the customer got the raw end of the deal. Enough of these bad experiences and Cork & Table will run out of customers who are willing to return. It's only a matter of time before arrogance catches up to the owner.

Yelp
The food from apps to main to desserts was amazing. The service was engaging and fun. We came all the way from DC and left fat and happy.

Yelp
A coursed meal without the stuffiness of a fancy restaurant - I'd call it a "casual fine dining experience". This place is my absolute favorite in Fredericksburg. I called it a casual fine dining experience, but believe me there is nothing casual or ordinary about the food. I've had many tasting menus over the years but the way the chef curates these dining experiences is outstanding. The food and chosen wines are always delicious. You can order off the main menu and create your own tasting menu with pairings or join them for a "Wine Dinner". At the wine dinners, the chef curates the menu themed on a geographic location - and even though we're here in Fredericksburg our tastebuds are whisked away to somewhere like the Burgundy region in France. It takes a creative mastermind to do that. In addition, you will have a chance to take home the wines that you sampled for the night if you choose to purchase them. The chef/owner is super friendly and makes appearances many times greeting customers and explaining the menu in more detail - it's a nice added touch. The service has always been great, with the courses and wine pairings coming to the table with perfect timing. The ambiance is just right with light music playing in the background, most tables speaking in hushed tones, it's just a great way to enjoy an evening in the area. Great for a business dinner, date night, special occasion or just a way to getaway from the normal chain restaurants in the area. Fredericksburg is so incredibly lucky to have Cork & Table - and is a must try!

Yelp
Cork and Table is a fabulous restaurant. Walking in I didn't know what to expect. But immediately we were greeted by our waiter Tom and he served my husband and I superbly during our meal. He was very attentive to our needs and requested and timed our 4 course meals delivery right on poo t. The food was so good!!! We ordered the Shrimp and Bacon flat bread as an appetizer to the 4 course meal and realize we were stuffed by the smoked duck and salad. Cork and arable is an excellent choice if you want a great meal in Fredericksburg

Yelp
Pretty good - we were really excited for the vegetarian/vegan tasting menu for a birthday celebration dinner, and arrived around 6pm on a Saturday. The ambiance was lovely! We got the only vegetarian first course, Tomato Bisque, to start - it was honestly okay, could have been spicier and smoother instead of the textured kind of soup to make it feel more elegant. We enjoyed the bread & butter it came with. For our second course, we chose two different kinds of veggie salads, but in all honesty, I would skip the salad course - it was basically just chopped grocery store veggies with an okay dressing. The main courses were tasty, an Asian carrot-ginger curry and portobello steak, both with spaghetti squash. The curry was flavorful and warmed us from the inside, and the portobello was umami to the palate. But the course that really blew us away was dessert! They were able to sub the chocolate chia seed pudding for the cheesecake and my dinner date got the dark chocolate mousse. Both were fantastic! I'm still drooling over the caramel sauce on that cheesecake. Overall, sweet & classy vibe for dinner and pretty good food, too!

Yelp
Not difficult to find but odd designed. I would have rather had placed this restaurant on a waterfront. I do like how you can see the kitchen though. So decor and ambiance was nice and quaint. The staff were very knowledgeable and professional. I actually liked how the menu was designed. A preset 3 or 4 course meal and you could have wine pairing with each course if so desired. I so desired and was very impressed with how amazing the wine paired. Each course was plated with fine simplicity and was cooked, seasoned perfectly. I ordered the smoked salmon salad, salmon entree and toffee bread pudding. I would certainly order this again and would most definitely recommend this place. An amazing applaud to the chef and kitchen staff.

Kiersten Z.

Yelp
They steal their servers tips don't go here. It doesn't matter how good the food is the servers deserve their tips . Not the restaurant .

Bisma A.

Yelp
Food and service was amazing. Their wine pairings are well crafted, highly recommend it. Best lamb ever.

Yelp
Cork and Table is a more upscale restaurant in downtown Fredericksburg that I haven't been to until just recently after 23 years of living in the 'burg. They only offer a three or four course tasting menu, so be prepared to have your wallet ready for that rather than coming to order dishes à la Carte. The one thing I am not too fond about with cork and table is the fact that they only offer wines and beer, no cocktails. I think they were benefit from a cocktail list, and the wines you can have by the glass are very limited. I chose the three course dinner, with the cheeseboard as a supplement for my friend and I to both split. For my starter course I had the roasted mushroom salad, which seemed bland but the mushroom had so much flavor but I was incredibly shocked and pleased! For my entrée I had the Asian vegetable stew, which was like a sweet coconut curry... Be warned though: the portions are not large! For dessert, I was able to try the sticky toffee pudding and the cheesecake, both which were delicious. I'm glad that they have a few vegetarian options on the menu, and while I did enjoy my meal, I didn't leave very full. This place is a great experience, but not in every day casual dinner choice. But it is definitely worth giving a try at least once!

Yelp
Cork and Table is a very small place with big flavors. It's not elegant or stuffy, it's casual and intimate. We were driving through town on our way south and needed a bite to eat. I looked on Yelp to find it and make our reservation. We showed up a bit earlier than expected. They had tables available and we were directed to a nice table without a wait. The staff was a nice balance of attentive without hovering. I chose the duck with a cherry reduction on a bed of spaghetti squash. There was also a nice bit of cucumber salad. It was just enough food for one person, without bursting at the seams. The duck was delicious and flavorful. BF had a chicken topped flatbread that he seemed to like very much. They have a good wine list and we easily selected a nice red to go with our choices. I would definitely want to try their prix fixe four course meals, if we drive this way again and we're hungry enough. It I think that it's priced in line with the high quality of the food and excellent service.

Mark K.

Yelp
Great tasting and wine pairing menu. Four courses with two choices for each course. We had the two different appetizers of cannellini bean and cheese spreads with bread and crackers. Then the crab corn chowder soup followed by a portobello mushroom salad and a marinated artichoke salad. Finally, we both had the beef filet with red wine reduction sauce. All delicious and very reasonably priced. Excellent service, too!
google avatar

Madi s.

Yelp
Okay so hear me out, the food is good here and they have a lot of gluten free options. However, it is very expensive for honestly lower quality food. The " Wagyu" filet couldn't have possibly been wagyu or filet because it was pretty chewy. I expected the wine pairing with the courses to be a little more suited to the dishes, and not taste as old? The servers are nice, you have multiple throughout your dinner so it's interesting. The place feels a little uptight and the chef seems a little snooty. But all in all, I wouldn't go out of my way to have it but if you have a gluten allergy it's a good option.

Aly M.

Yelp
We had a great anniversary dinner last night. I greatly appreciate that the majority of the options were gluten free too. Everything was a delicious and my favorite was the sticky toffee pudding. I wish I could just come in for desert sometime.

Yelp
Visited for Fredericksburg Restaurant Week and what a treat! A three-course meal for just under $35. The butternut squash soup, seared salmon entree, and chocolate mousse dessert were fantastic and of great quality for this small town I will definitely be back for dinner some other time. They also have a great wine menu and, overall, their prices are very reasonable.

Yelp
Food was ok, the service was strange as the people were attentive once we placed our order but we had to flag someone down to place drink orders.

Tony B.

Yelp
Went a few years ago and loved it. But unfortunately that was not our experience this time. They advertise having Wagu beef. Three of us ordered it and all were tough. One was uneatable. We let the server know and she came back saying that they reduced our bill $25. The first time we went the owner/chef came to our table and explained each of the wine pairings and how the dish was prepared. This time he chose to stay in the kitchen. Oh! When we got up to leave and try to use the restroom on the way out, only to find out that you needed a code to get in. You would think that the waitress would've told us that. We won't be coming back. Such a shame
google avatar

Richard O.

Yelp
You can't go wrong with the chef's tasting menu with wine pairing. We loved it and are looking forward to going back.
google avatar

Erika T.

Yelp
Arrived without a reservation and was seated immediately. My server (Tom?) told me the specials and I decided to go with the 4-course meal, including corn and crab chowder (delicious with plenty of crab), smoked salmon and goat cheese salad; scallops (pictorials -- divine) and a cheese dessert I can't remember the name of. Paired with a Troegers beer and later a glass of the Landmark Pinto Noir. Great service, fabulous food -- I will be back.

Yelp
You are paying not just for a culinary dream but an experience. We went there tonight 8/20/22 for a much needed date night. Our waitress was nice, at first, but as the night went on she became more and more non existent. Friendly yes but bringing us a to go plastic container for our salad dressings ? Okay moving on. We each chose a 3-course paired dinner. Everything was wonderful until the main course. Filet mignon. What is the Chef thinking drowning that with sauce ??!!!! I had to soak up that unnecessary crap with my napkin. Not that I was expecting my growing unfriendly waitress to give me new utensils, which they never do. I even watched other customers using their napkins to clean them off. Our waitress never Never NEVER asked what we thought. So would we come back. No. Not worth the money and obviously they don't care about feedback.

Yelp
Came here on a Tuesday for the $25 three course meal special. Service and atmosphere was great but the food didn't quite match up to what I was expecting for the price and the ratings. I got the Provence Rose and loved it! It was on the dry side but had just the right amount of sweetness. The wine paired really well with my food too. The salad was very fresh but it was literally 5 pieces of lettuce with some carrots and cucumbers. I guess I was expecting something a little fancier, a little more unique. For the main course, I got the chicken breast. I loved the portobello and Brie cheese topping, it really created a nice, creamy consistency to the chicken. The mash potatoes and the vegetables were really good. I wasn't a fan of the sauce though, it was a little too salty and overwhelming. Dessert was definitely the best part! I got the toffee pudding. Wasn't really pudding, it was this really rich bread made with dates and pudding. The vanilla ice cream was not too sweet and had a mild crunchy consistency. The combination of the ice cream and date bread was absolutely perfect- the best part of the dinner by far. Service was great and the restaurant was cute and cozy. It just smelled a little smoky from the kitchen.

Yelp
Cork and Table is one of the more upscale restaurants in Fredericksburg with great options for three and four course price fix menus. They have a fine selection of wines and you can even add the option of wine pairings for either price fix options. Call ahead or use Open Table to ensure you have a table during the weekend. Menu changes according to season, so we enjoyed the parsnip purée, mixed wild greens, ahi tuna, chicken breast with Brie and save room for the toffee tart or traditional cheesecake with spiced apples.

Yelp
I truly cannot believe that we we were treated the way we were at this establishment. Made an 8:00 reservation days before, and the day of I received an email saying our reservation was cancelled. I should have taken this as a sign, as we did still have a reservation and the experience was wretched. We both chose the 4 course meal with wine pairing $91 each. We chose the crab and corn chowder which had a very watery consistency, but the wine was good. The salad choice was very good. Moving in to the main course of Wagyu filet mignon, the debacle ensued. The steak was over cooked (ordered medium rare) and was drenched in an over-salted gravy, with a blob of similarly over salted mashed potatoes and a small pile of over seasoned and mushy cauliflower. The food was brought to the table with NO silverware. At no time did the waitress (or any of the wait staff) check on our table to see if everything was done properly etc. or even if we needed anything else. When we flagged down a staff member we advised of the overcooked steak. He stated that they would provide a new meal, however moments later the "chef" appeared and said he was sorry the steak was not to our liking, but that the kitchen was already closed. So regardless of the $30 credit to the bill, I went home without an entree. When I inquired about why the kitchen would close while there were still customers the chef decided that he would reply with obvious frustration instead of apologies. The original waitress never came back to our table, as unprofessional as she was from the start, and the restaurant actually turned off nearly all the lights before we even left. Furthermore, another patron even stopped at our table to tell us that he agreed with our statements to the chef of the overly salty "sauce." This restaurant should in no way be touting any type of service above the standard Olive Garden repertoire, unless they do a major overhaul of staff, CHEF, and overall service. This place, and the Chef, are a joke. I will make sure that everyone that I know understands the failure of this restaurant, and the deplorable way they treat their customers. Without customers, you have NO business. For a proper dining experience of the same price point, go to Fahrenheit.

Yelp
Just had the most wonderful 6 course tasting menu here. Oh my goodness...the crab and corn chowder was delectable and the duck breast salad was mouth watering! But, beyond the fabulous foods, our servers, Nancy and Kat, were warm, friendly, and totally unobtrusive. They both knew just when to drop by the table and kept our courses coming right on time. Thank you, ladies, for making our experience a night to remember.

Yelp
I signed up for yelp specifically to write this review, for this particular restaurant. Please, please, please do not support this establishment. I had an incredibly unpleasant experience with the owner and after doing research on him and his restaurant, I have found my experience was shared. Please research other peoples reviews. I am young and have been working in the restaurant industry for five years--an industry that I love. This man made me realize my love of food and serving was not always going to be a pleasant experience.

Yelp
We went here for our anniversary. I had the four course dinner with wine pairing and hubby had the three course with wine. We really enjoyed it. Plenty of gluten free options and the food was delicious. Service was a tiny bit slow but all in All was a great meal in a quaint little place. Will definitely be back.

Yelp
Brought my mom, best friend of 25 years, and mother to my niece here for a mother's day dinner. The service was AWESOME. We did the 4-course tasting dinner. It was a memorable experience. My mom is picky about wine and they allowed her to switch to wines she was more experience with. My niece's mother enjoyed each course. And my best friend started crying because she just enjoyed the overall experience. As for me, I thank the staff for helping me shower these phenomenal ladies. I loved the dessert wines most

Yelp
Under Chef Jim's careful guidance, this little gem has risen to the top locally. Whether a regular dinner or a weekly wine special dinner, the food is great and there's a great wine list.

Yelp
My husband and I randomly chose this restaurant on a return trip from DC. We had to push our reservations back half an hour due to heavy traffic on a Saturday evening - which they pleasantly did. Dinner was fixed price - we each had 3 courses + shared an appetizer and one glass of wine each. Service was friendly and quick; prices were reasonable; the appetizer was perfect to hold us over until salad. We had a charcuterie with duck breast, pate and Serrano ham. Salads were light and fresh with balsamic vinaigrette; main courses were from vegan selections (mine was asparagus over wild rice; husband had portobello mushrooms, which was delicious!) the dessert was an amazing chocolate pudding- if we come again, I may just reverse the order and start with dessert!
