Google
Seems like it would be a cool bar on a weekend night but during the week I would say it's just okay. It's in a weird location so you can't park nearby and there are no real other bars you can walk to from here. All of the food trucks were closed so we didn't get to try those out but it's nice that it's next to TacoDeli.

Google
Great bar. It’s not huge but there’s plenty of seating, a ton of great quality tvs to watch sports on, and they let me drink out of a tower so if I need refills I can just pull a nozzle. I once lost my wallet and the owner found me on Facebook to let me know he found it which saved my tail because I had just gotten back from New Orleans and had just won a fat wad which I hadn’t quite yet deposited in my bank because carrying all that cash made me feel like a cool old dad. Great community feeling and a great staff. I will gladly spend money and brain cells in this establishment.

Google
Perfect bar on a Corner, wether watching Da'boyz get beat...again. or stopping in for a cocktail after yoga class. Hanging with you're friends and getting some awesome food form one of the 2 food trucks outside. Put you're phones down, make eye contact, actually listen to the words coming out of your friends mouth. It can make all the difference in the world, for you both. We ordered the Austin Collins it was good, a little sweet but refreshing. Had some food, shared a laugh. Then I got to walk my darling love back to the car, holding hands, snuggling each other for warmth. It's Totally true, what they say. Everything does taste better with Love!🖤

Google
Went there for the first time last night and Sydney was my bartender! She was AMAZING and I loved the drinks! Will definitely be returning

Peterson Entertainment

Google
Cool local hang out spot. Friendly folks, good bartender. Two food trucks in the parking lot.

Savvy Shabazz

Google
The male bartender was rude and seemed a bit racists. Had an attitude from the time I walked in, stared me down and sized me up. Then low and behold a 9 year old walks in which led me to believe they serve children liquor.

Google
On busy corner. Parking can be difficult. Bar bigger than it looks, has a patio area as well. Reasonably priced drinks. No food but a couple food trucks parked onsite. The bbq seemed to be really popular.

Google
This is a great place to have a beer while you are walking downtown. It’s right around the corner from Tacodeli. Good place to people watch. Joe the bartender was friendly and helpful. Gave us some good information on things to do. Enjoyed our time there and recommend.

Yelp
Parking is tough to find here. The indoor space leaves the doors open and lets the fresh air in. The drinks are good. The bartenders are hip. The best thing about it is the Kiin Di food truck in its parking lot, which serves the best Thai food i've ever had (and I've had a lot). The worst thing about it was the other food truck in their parking lot, Native Austin BBQ, because that food truck blasts its own music, which clashed with and made it impossible to enjoy the music coming from the bar. Sitting on the porch of the bar was like listening to a way of sound waves. That said, it's a great bar :-)

Yelp
Eight year veteran of Corner Bar during football seasons, but have been on duty outside Austin for 18 months. Eased in today (10-15-23) to watch football and run up a $30 tab sufficient to earn a two plates of Brown's BBQ for the first time since the 2021 season. First observation: Sparse crowd; maybe 8 patrons 2nd observation: No energy, slow 3rd observation: Request ticket for BBQ only to learn that's no longer a thing. 4th observation: Even though no more BBQ with $15 tab, drink prices exponentially higher and they conveniently forget to itemize cost of your bill 5th observation: No coincidence the sparse crowd a function of no longer offering Brown's BBQ; that was CB's hallmark and it's now lost. I'll give them one more try, but if that's their position, there's dozens of other sports bars in Austin with plenty of cache that have it going on more so than Corner Bar. Hope y'all come back around...

Yelp
Michael is the BEST!!! Miranda is FANTASTIC! Love this place. Drinks, staff, and atmosphere is great.

Yelp
It's a bar. It's on a corner. It has a couple food trailers. Bartenders are cool and the drinks are cheap. It does get busy and can take a while to order. Another employee or two would probably get them another star.

Yelp
If this is what it means to hangout on the corner on a Sunday afternoon, then sign me up and let me make my post! I freaking love the vibe of this spot and don't even get me started on their weekend promotion. $15+ bar spend (literally me in five minutes at any spot) and you get a food ticket to support one of the local trucks outside. HELL FREAKING YES. (Check out my review for Brown BBQ, but TL;DR- get the damn plate and order everything!) So the skinny on this food ticket promo is that it's valid for bbq from Brown's on Sunday and on Saturday's it's the Thai food truck adjacent to it. Love how Corner Bar shares the love. The tickets are handed out starting at 3pm but free food means a decent line. So just be patient and don't get all antsy patsy on this amazing promo. There's a wraparound patio that is dog friendly and they have a tv outside for those who watch sports. I really enjoyed their draft beer selection and the Yellow Rose IPA and Electric Jellyfish on tap already had me swiping right on them. Make sure to check out their social handles as I saw a few promos for FREE CRAWFISH and a few other events. They even have an overflow parking lot which I learned about whilst using the loo. I'll have to remember that for next time, but there is plenty of neighborhood parking!

Yelp
I just a had a quick burger pick up there and enjoyed the taste. It wasn't cheap, but I understand the times are not great right now to survive in this business.

Yelp
Stumbled across the corner bar to catch the games. Didn't know what to expect as I was only interested in the games. I get there early and they had complimentary breakfast tacos. Absolutely delicious. Typical sports bars and since the games were on I just had beer. Tiny place but the people there are very friendly. Got along with all the patrons there. On Sundays, they have a deal where if you spend $15 on at the bar you'll get a free meal ticket to use at the BBQ truck across from it. I got the ribs, Mac and cheese, and beans. As soon as I took a bite of the food, my soul had left my body and was just in pure bliss. Ribs smokey and flavorful. Mac and cheese were the best I had. Definitely want to go back

Yelp
Great experience here- smaller bar but has big TV screens, great food trucks in the parking lot, and the staff was very friendly. Highlight was the cold brew Irish coffee- highly recommend!
google avatar

Yelp
Stumbled upon this place by accident, but boy am I glad we did!! Super cool vibe with a great selection of cold beer, craft cocktails, and super friendly staff! Doesn't look like much from the outside bit really cool place.
google avatar

Yelp
Wonderful little "do drop in bar" Strong assortment of craft beers on tap and strong likker pours. There are daily specials and if you hurry they offer some unique holiday cocktails. Grab a bag of gratis popcorn go sit out on the patio and watch the show on South Lamar. There is a BBQ trailer out front but it were closed the day we were there. There are a few TVs inside and out if you want to catch a game. Friendly service, a great chill atmosphere, and good cocktails make the corner bar a great venue to get your drank on.

Yelp
Corner bar has always been one of my favorite local bars. CB is a true original Austin bar with a great location and vibe. It's usually pretty chill and relaxed.
google avatar

Jingwei K.

Yelp
Stopped by to watch the UFC fights on a Saturday night. There's a few large TVs and a decent selection of beers - I particularly enjoyed the Electric Jellyfish. Unfortunately, they only played audio for the title bout. For food, Brown's BBQ and Kiin Di food trucks are located right outside and both seem to be highly rated.
google avatar

Chante N.

Yelp
nice little spot to pop-in and not have to fuss with a thick crowd. the staff is chill & you're liable to see a pup to love on.. oh they have a great special on mimosas... keep the brunch vibe going on the weekend!
google avatar

Yelp
Awesome dive bar ans great drinks and drink prices!!! We had a margarita and an old fashioned for $20!

Yelp
A fine corner bar. A superior collection of bottles. I was quite happy with my Templeton Rye. Large generous pours. Fine whiskey glasses not plastic cups. A good popcorn machine. A first rate barbecue truck outside. But the standout here is the ambiance. Come here late afternoon. The sun pours through the southern semi-opaque window. It imbues the whole establishment in warm golden light. The bar has natural deep brown tones which commune with the colors of late afternoon. You can see Lamar in that same golden light without the noise and the stench of actual traffic. If you are a TV watcher, you can watch TV. Or you can just soak up the colors around you. The afternoon light turns the world the color of whiskey, And your mind also turns the color of whiskey. Charles Bukowski was right. Time was meant to be wasted.

Yelp
One of the best burgers in town! Excellent staff, menu, venue and cocktails. Love this part of town in general so nice to have another spot to frequent
google avatar

Samantha M.

Yelp
This place is definitely a hole in the wall neighborhood bar! They have lots of locals which gives it a cool vibe. They also have food trucks, unfortunately the food trucks close a bit early. I ended up ordering food from Austin Pizza next door so it being so close by is a bonus
google avatar

Bear S.

Yelp
When you come to a place like this you don't expect to get the real moment but the biggest moment about this bar is the people that surround being.
google avatar

Jordan C.

Yelp
Came here to watch NBA finals. Super comfy and intimate vibe. Indoor and outdoor seating! Jack is an awesome bartender!! Highly recommend checking it out

Brian R.

Yelp
Like the atmosphere sometimes depending on music and volume level. We go there because it's nearby and for Brown's BBQ truck. Drink prices are not transparent. Drinks listed on a TV screen with no prices. I was just charged $9 for a 512 IPA pint...that goes for $6 or $7 at the most at other bars. Good TVs. I will hesitate in future.
google avatar

Bill G.

Yelp
Cool little spot. Stopped in to watch the end of the Astros game and pick up some Browns BBQ in the parking lot. Staff was really cool and put the game on for me. Drinks were good and has the feel of a neighborhood bar. Not too divey at all. Dogs are allowed also. I like it!
google avatar

Cameron N.

Yelp
We went for a coworker hangout which had amazing service and drinks. The drinks were stronger with some nice chips and three dips
google avatar

Corey W.

Yelp
Great local bar! If you're visiting for ACL or SXSW keep walking because this place is for locals! Kiddding...awesome drinks, cool staff, and amazing bbq our front. Great place to watch the fights and other sports as well.
google avatar

Heather C.

Yelp
I like this place a lot. They have Brown's BBQ in their lot (super little bbq truck) and on some days you can get free BBQ with a $10 beer tab. They have a dog-friendly patio that is usually enclosed in wet or cold weather and the staff have always been nice. They have TVs, but unfortunately they always play loud music even when everyone in the bar is watching football on the screens. Policy, I'm told. If y'all see this, you should change that policy when it's football season :)
google avatar

Yelp
A hip, low-lit bar on South Lamar that serves it's purpose. Went with a group of 6 to drinks one night before heading up the road to Matt's El Rancho for dinner. Walked in to a 1/4 full place with one bartender and dirty glasses on tables everywhere. The entire place seemed dramatically understaffed. One of our guests ordered a Chardonnay, which she had to swap out for something else because it was so bad. It was a Wednesday, so they had some specials going on Whiskey's, but nothing too wild. They offered complimentary popcorn, but the popcorn machine was empty and none was being made...? If the weather was nice out, they do have some yard games outside that could be pretty cool, but besides that not too much to see here. Lots of other options on South Lamar that would be worth a shot instead.
google avatar

Maggie M.

Yelp
I love their craft drinks! We got a super fancy gin cocktail and it was delicious, it's been months and we still talk about it! I wasn't expecting so much out of a tiny bar but it's a great little find! Will definitely return
google avatar

Zachary A.

Yelp
Really liked Corner Bar. Got a few good IPA on draft and Happy Hour until 6pm with $5 all drafts. Indoor area nice, but outdoor area is the key with really warm lamps, plenty of seating, and good looking par food. Lots of TVs and just a fun, Austin vibe. Really can't ask for much more from a downtown Austin bar. Should be anyone's go-to for an office Happy Hour or late night drink lounging outside.
google avatar

Tessa B.

Yelp
The Farro salad was absolutely delicious and the perfect dinner. Also loved my Corner margarita with jalapeño. Easy dinner spot to hit before getting drinks downtown!
google avatar

Yelp
Sent this as a text to someone saying they had just driven by: They have popcorn. They have big and small dogs. They have nice bartenders. And they have cornhole.

Yelp
If it wasn't for Barton Springs Saloon, I would have thought this place doomed from the start just based on its location, after all, who wants to hang out at a bar that sits on a busy intersection? But hey, the Saloon works, and this place does too! I went to Corner Bar last night with five friends, all of which, myself included, live in the neighborhood and are always looking for the next local bar to add a little change of scenery. While small, the bar is nice on the inside and gives an impression of being a lot bigger than it is- the downside of which is that the high ceilings and lack of anything to absorb all that noise makes the place echo so much that we were all driven outside just to hear ourselves talk. The noise set aside, the drinks were strong and the bartender was nice and attentive, even on a night that seemed relatively busy (but then again, perhaps that impression was too because of its size.) When my friend decided that she didn't like the drink they had made for her the bartenders were happy to replace it with a round of shots for all of us-above and beyond what any of us had expected! We had only been there about twenty minutes when we were approached by (what I am assuming was the manager or owner) to ask how we were enjoying our night and what we thought of the bar. He made a point to make sure we were happy which I thought was a great move on his part. When I mentioned the lack of ashtrays on the patio he was attentive and agreed that I was right and said he would make sure to get some as soon as possible--I'll cut them some slack for it this time considering they have only been open for five days, next time though I will for sure keep an eye out for them to see if he really listened. Perhaps the coolest thing about this bar though was their "jukebox" which can barely be called a jukebox as there is no actual "box" to speak of. They use an app for iPhone and Android called roqbot--a free app which allows you, the patron, to choose the music, and vote on songs that other people at the bar have chosen to play--and displays the song being played and its "dj" on a big TV screen behind the bar. It was definitely a fun interactive aspect to the bar which I hadn't seen before. The manager even spent a while talking to us about it and let us know that at a ripe 5 days old, Corner Bar is already the number one user of the app! The downside I guess would be if you don't have a smart phone. If anything else, I could nitpick at the parking situation--there is barely any--but that just comes with the territory I suppose. Lastly the outside patio was tiny and cramped and on a busier night could probably prove hard to get on to. I will for sure return to this bar, and I can see myself becoming somewhat of a regular if they continue the pleasant service and fun environment. I definitely wish them success and all the best.
google avatar

Dani L.

Yelp
Perfect little neighborhood bar with lots of natural light, fresh breeze through open windows, plenty of TV's, super friendly staff, and delicious cocktails! It's definitely a "Cheers" style bar with lots of friendly regulars and a great place to bring your pups too. But the best part is the delicious free BBQ on Sunday's and UFC fights with No Cover charge.

Erin P.

Yelp
Best bar in the world. Best tacos. Best ambiance. We lived across the street and found it hard to go anywhere else. Still miss going every afternoon. Great food, great drinks, friendly bartenders. Just amazing, wow!

Meredith C.

Yelp
Corner bar is such a treat. The Watermelon Margarita special offered in May was a serious delight and I've already taken two friends to try it. Staff is also very friendly and fun.
google avatar

Anieca B.

Yelp
Awesome new bar on South Lamar! FREE food on Sundays! Can't go wrong with that!! The staff is friendly and it's an all together great environment. Good experience, keep it up corner bar A++++!!

Allie L.

Yelp
This place is amazing! Ellie is the best server ever! Would come back time and time again just for him :)
google avatar

Carmela S.

Yelp
There isn't anything outstanding or amazing about this place. It's a small bar with a small patio but, a good location so I am sure they get plenty of traffic. We came in between lunch and dinner for one drink before heading home. I feel like this is what this place is for me, one last drink stop before heading home. The bartenders are friendly and pour atiff drinks if you are getting a whiskey and coke, tequila and sprite or something of that nature. I had a margarita and it was so sour I had to ask for a small glass of soda and another shot to make it good. On the bright aide they do hace Espolon tequila which I love. They do have an amazing food truck outside. Parking can be a nightmare since they only have about 7 spots in their parking lot. Not a place I would go out of my way to go to.
google avatar

Mike G.

Yelp
Entered Doors at midnight after drinking for most of the day. Don't really remember what the crowd was like however, it was pretty full. The bar tenders where nice and shots where very full. Um did a bartender just tell me I was loud? Isn't this a bar? I guess I am kind of loud though...........but really?
google avatar

Sawyer K.

Yelp
Daniella was the best, bloody Mary's highly recommended. Otherwise anything and everything is off the chain!!
google avatar

Jennifer T.

Yelp
Love the atmosphere outside. Great food and happy hour deals! Alex was a huge help to us. He wasn't our server but definitely made sure we were happy! We will definitely be back!
google avatar

Yelp
Chill place to be on a Sunday! Indoor/outdoor seating, it's a pretty small place but they have Awesome Daily drink specials that don't end at 7pm like most places. They advertise Free food on Sundays but apparently not yesterday...they had boiled Crawfish which was great! $5/a pound...not bad price, it was really good. Plus $2 Mimosas & Bud Light, $4 Rehab shot & $5 Bloody Marys. +Pet-friendly! Parking is limited, look on the street behind it. Now s upposely there is free valet, but I didn't see any.

Deneatria C.

Yelp
This place must be known for its beer(which is something I did not get) because the food was not good at all. The best thing was the chips and dips which is not a compliment. The food was very bland but looked great.
google avatar

Rachel G.

Yelp
This is kind of one of those places I really wanted to like but just doesn't stand out as anything special. It's a chill spot for sure. I enjoy going from time to time. It's a bar...on the corner! I mean, come on! I'd say the best part is that on Sundays once you have a $10 bar tab you can get a free plate from Brown's BBQ truck out front. Now that is a steal! Alos can be a good place to watch some sports.
google avatar

Brittany N.

Yelp
Quaint beer bar that was suggested to us by a local bartender. Nice chill laid back vibe with friendly bartenders. Several Local brews on tap to enjoy out on there front patio or inside while you watch the games. They also offer a side patio for a good ol' game of cornhole among friends. Oh, and Free popcorn is always a plus too : ) I totally dig all the paintings displayed throughout the bar too! Almost offered to buy the Willie one. This was a great spot to end the night on.

Yelp
Two Californian investment bankers walk in to a Chipotle... Investor 1: "Hey dude, I just had the most AMAZING weekend in Austin. We went to all the HOT SPOTS like SoCo and 6th Street--west AND east! Had dinner at the Oasis...amazing food. Bro, anyway, it got me thinking: We did well last year on the Peterson account, so what do you think about opening up a bar with me in Austin?" Investor 2: "Heck yea, bro, as long as it's like Key Bar or J. Blacks, but a little more...you know...Austin-y! We should totally see a return on investment within a year--EASY!" Investor 1: "EXCELLENT! Well, I've already done some research and I found this AMAZING spot, bro. It's an old gas station off W. Mary Street in this part of town called 75704. People are saying it's going to be like the new bar district in town, so we need to get on this thing pronto, mi amigo!!!" Investor 2: "AWESOME! But one thing: Will we have live music there?" Investor 1: "No, but here's what we will have: A) An INCREDIBLE sound system with lots of dance hits pumping overhead to keep people drinking and B) TONS OF FREAKING FLAT SCREENS, BRO! Also, I found this street artist who will do these edgy, Austin-y portraits of Stevie Ray Vaughan and Willie Nelson that we can hang on the walls. Locals love those dudes, and when they see that we've done, they'll know this place is STRAIGHT UP LEGIT!" Investor 2: "BODACIOUS! But you know Austin is really big on craft beers now, so what about having a large selection of local beers on tap?" Investor 1: "Too expensive. Everything will be bottled, and all brands owned by Budweiser InBev, to keep costs down. Of course, we'll have like 20 different ones to choose from." Investor 2: "GNARLY! But what about parking? I want to be SEEN in the 75704, but don't really want to...you know...take the risk of parking next to some hipster's '93 Subaru and getting a door ding on my brand new Maseratti Quattroporte." Investor 1: "Dude, already there. One word: Valet." ************************UPDATE************************************* I received a note from the owner of the bar a few weeks ago and I will post it below: ------------------------------------ You even made me laugh... 1. Two of the owners are from AUSTIN born and raised.. the other one has lived within a mile of the bar for the last 13 years. 2. Two of us actually live blocks from the bar 3. We do have live music, just not ever night. The neighborhood association would not allow us to have outdoor live music at all. 4. The music is picked my the people in the bar. 5. People like a place to watch a game 6. We have been open for less than six weeks and after the city has cost us 100's of thousands in petty improvements so the Zilker Neighborhood Association would be happy (which they still are not), our beer selection will grow with time. 7. Bill, the local artist is a great friend and little more than a street artist... 8. We have limited parking and wanted to respect the neighborhood to keep the noise down late at night. SO YES... FREE...YES FREE Valet.. ...FREE Thanks for the completely off review... -Corner Bar of Austin... Not affiliated with any other "Corner Bar" anywhere else.

Yelp
Cliffnotes: Seems cheerful but really just a trick to get you to have another beer and bob your head to psychotic pop song rants while not being able to hear a DAMN thing your friends say, not 2 feet away from you. EFFING TVS ARE EFFING EVERYWHERE! and it is really on a peninsula, not a corner... should be called, Peninsula Bar. . . . "Robert's got a quick hand. He'll look around the room, he won't tell you his plan. He's got a rolled cigarette, hanging out his mouth. He's a cowboy kid." Murderously LOUD evening combined with that cheerful, head bobbing song Pumped up Kicks by Foster the People about a psychotic kid and bullets and killing people. So there we were, bobbing our heads to such cheerfulness while getting a drink pre-dinner. WHAT? Extremely LOUD with 7 enormous tvs blaring in a teeny tiny space with one miniscule outdoor area that faces busy Lamar and has large sliding doors open to the interior so if smoking is happening outside, it is happening inside. No attempt at sound abatement whatsoever. I am not a fan of football in a bar, unless it is expressly a sports bar. Can't we go out for a drink without having to watch tv? Large side patio is OFF LIMITS to alcoholic beverages because of complaints from people about the noise. "People"? It is on the Austin Pizza side... would they complain about people enjoying an adult beverage on this side of the bar? And if they did, who cares? Big sign that limits access with adult beverage on glass door to large side patio makes you wonder who runs this place as people are on the front slice of outdoors with a drink but this quiet side refuge is vacant. Code issue? Unlikely. WHAT? Nothing special about the drinks. No food. So you can get a beer or a mexican martini and sit in a tiny peninsula of a bar screaming at each other while avoiding the visual onslaught of 7 enormous televisions. Would like to see this place work out. Love for them to belly up to the bully for the side patio access as it would more than double their exterior space. Love for them to have 3 specialty cocktails. Love for them to do something about the Death by Sound issue. Regarding this song, Mark Foster of Foster the People said: "I was trying to get inside the head of an isolated, psychotic kid. It's a f--k you song to hipsters, in a way - but it's a song the hipsters are going to want to dance to." (Rolling Stone) Exactly. This isolated peninsula called a "corner" is a haven for wanting to dance but not dancing.* Head bobbing and a big smile on her face and singing about a bullet and a gun, my sweet lawyer friend said, "I just love this song... the IRONY!" WHAT?! "You better run, better run, outrun my gun. All the other kids with the pumped up kicks, You better run, better run, faster than my bullet." *They have complimentary valet parking. That never means it's free, so get ready to fork over $5 to a super cheerful, nice guy who will park your car on any street that is not Lamar.

Yelp
It's tiny. It's L-O-U-D. It's drafty and cold under the vents. It is impossible to have a conversation without a TV in your line of vision. The only food available is take-out from Austin's Pizza next door. There's almost no parking. And no, the valet parking option does not count. We are not at the opera, we're at a freaking dive bar. They have one entire patio that you're not allowed to use (unless you're not drinking...but why in the world would you be here if you weren't drinking?). But the drinks are strong, and after a single Mexican martini, shouting over the music suddenly veered from being annoying to being...festive. Of course, this likely had more to do with the company I was keeping than anything the Corner Bar did. If this bar were on a corner within walking distance of my house, I might venture back. But it's not, so I probably won't.

Yelp
Okay, seriously, who transplanted a tiny bar from Dallas to South Lamar? I mean, VALET? You can't fit 50 people inside this place, and you have your own, dedicated valet in the private lot you get to use? I could not possibly find this place less pretentious unless they had a "no jeans" dress code. Which they couldn't, because in Austin that's all we wear. Yes, it's shiny and new and clean. Yes, there's lots of TVs. The beer selection is standard, the liquors are Dallas standard (every BIG name brand is there, but nothing local and nothing particularly good). The service was quick and friendly, although that could be because we stopped in at 10pm on a Sunday for a quick drink prior to our movie at the South Lamar Alamo Drafthouse. The prices were high to me - $5 for a draft Fireman's #4? And what the sh*t is the point of a patio if you can't take your drink out? I want to smoke and drink - that's why I'm willing to stand outside in the 45dg weather. This place is as generic as Dallas - it's plastic. Cold, transparent, and soulless. I do like the roqbot app (installable to iOS devices for free and lets patrons propose and vote on the music playing), but man... I want this place to work. But they better get rid of the skimpily clad bartendress (I mean, really, is this Hooter's?), get that patio open, and chill the hell out. Oh, and ditch the valet. It's just... stupid.

Yelp
The drinks, are, awesome! Bbq Sunday's are the greatest. Parking sucks, but it's well worth the hassle!
