Best Pizza in Atlanta | Eater Atlanta

"Open For: Lunch and Dinner Price Range: $ - $$ Corner Slice took over the former Avellino’s space on West College Avenue in late 2022, the same complex as Tortuga y Chango. For folks who love to thick-crust pan pizzas, Corner Slice is serving up Detroit-style pies topped with everything from Calabrian peppers and Italian sausage to bacon, red onions, and jalapenos. Look for batches of saucy wings, fried mozzarella sticks, and sandwiches like meatball parmesan and a meaty hero served on fresh sesame seed focaccia bread on the menu, too. Google
This is the best Detroit style pizza that my husband and I have ever eaten. They allow custom orders per slice and we were able to get so many fantastic toppings and they were all excellent. The pizza crust was cooked evenly all the way to the center. The pizza was extremely reasonable for the size of the slice and additional toppings. For six dollars a slice we were able to get a slice of pizza with six toppings. We would highly recommend this place!

Google
A1 review! Just plain out good! I'm a sauce girl but Detroit style pizza isn't however this is a 8/10 because I like sauce Janeway. Ingredients fresh, pizza hot! Parking can be difficult but don't let that stop you. Ronnie has some of the best customer service. Very clean Outside seating We definitely will be back!

Google
Unassuming pizza joint with fantastic pies, I loved the whipped ricotta topping on the light and fluffy Detroit style slices. The hot honey drizzle was nice as well. We split a whole pie for 2 people and 3 slices each was just about right. Worth stopping in

Google
The deep dish pizza was SUPERB! Loved everything we ordered. Highly recommend!

Google
The best Detroit style pizza I’ve had in the southeast, maybe the whole east coast. The cannolis are top notch! Crispy shells freshly stuffed with delicately balanced filling. Thin crust pies equally impress. If you eat pizza at one place in Atlanta, eat it here.

Google
couple of things about this place, I’ve eaten pizza all over the country. Five dollars a slice is average but a Detroit slice for five dollars a slice in my mind is pretty good. this is a Detroit style through and through light to the feeling heavy on the cheese on top with a sprinkle of sauce and everything tastes fresh All you need is one slice and split some wings with a friend and you’re good to go. I spent $15 on two slices and a drink, but I added toppings realistically it was more towards $12-$13 without changing anything. this place is also very big when you walk inside the inside of the front makes it seems like a small cute shop, but there is a whole backside which should be filled all the time

Google
👍🏾when I open the box my first thought was the school cafeteria served me…But then tasting the white perfectly light orange greased glazed cheese hanging from off the front, my mouth said, oh hell No ain’t no school serving slices wit cheese this perfectly seasoned good…..Even If Tuition was Required……..!! Air, Light, Yet fulfilling Crust Sauced Rightfully Red mildly chunked Firm Steadily Softening Bite Thru With Slick Perfectly Mild Burst of Herbs…………….in too every bite……. I was cheap only ate cheeseSlice, (for now just imagining how good the rest of the menu will be)….but for the price & my wallet I served as deserved……..almost perfect👍🏾 *******makes for a RETURN VIST for me

Google
This was my first order and first visit to the pizzeria...but it will not be my last. I enjoyed my order of a Bar Pie with pepperoni, sausage and spinach. Wonderful bite! And that hot honey was such a nice compliment to the pie. I could put that ish on everything! 😂 I can't wait til my next pizza fix...so I can try the Detroit Style!

Yelp
Corner slice was a little out of the way but I was inclined to try and I was so glad I did. I like things that are close to Detroit style pizza, for obvious reasons, and they did a pretty good job at the deep dish square. On the inside there's a TV and there's a small bar area and they have about 10 to 15 seat slots for people to say. So it's not a really big shot. Outside they have some seating outside along the restaurant itself but it's not like you can take 20 of your friends to come here because you will not fit. They had free parking but it is limited so you may have to park at the side of the building instead of in front (because it's in a small strip mall plaza). I ordered a pizza for takeout but I ended up eating it there so I sat down and it was comfortable. They had Star wars on the TV while I was eating. The people there were pretty nice and they get good customer service. Even though I didn't really need a lot. I would at the pepperoni and bacon on my pizza, it came out hot and fresh. Had the crispy edges like I like, toppings were very good, and a sauce was very flavorful. It was a very filling pizza and it tasted good. I would 100% go back.

Yelp
This was my first time trying Detroit style pizza. I love a good pan pizza, and the Rika was a good selection. I have never had hot honey on pizza and it sounded like a wonderful experiment. I am also into spicy, so the jalapeños were a tasty addition. The staff was friendly, ordered at the register, then watched my pizza cooked to order. My son and I also ordered a Mariner pizza which we had plenty of leftovers and which heats up nice at home. The wings were also tasty. There is an additional dining area in the back and a small game room with arcade games. This is definitely a family friendly environment! I would come here for a new pizza experience!

Yelp
I didn't grasp this in advance, but this shop had a nice little space to eat it; it was not pure takeout. Most people, including me, were doing takeout, and there was a park area by the nearby railroad which was fine on a nice evening. This place is primarily offering Detroit-style pizza, a trendy creation, but this was up there with the better ones I've had. The extra crispy crust and the cheese around the rim delivered satisfaction, while the option for half toppings allowed me to get a good mix of peppers, spinach, and mushrooms. Crushed red pepper and parmesan packets were free, standby options from a bygone age but not ones you see as often now. The option for vegan cheese was available, which I suspect is not the main reason people come here but good for them for offering. I didn't find my pizza too salty, but it certainly was indulgent.

Yelp
We've passed by this place several times and finally decided to give them a try. We did a pickup order for a movie night at home. My husband was out and picked it up for us. The place is pretty small, so there's really nowhere to check your order inside. And the order was basic, so he figured it was fine. By the time he got back, we were both ready to just sit down and eat because we'd had a long day. As you can see in the picture of our receipt, I'd ordered 10 lemon pepper wings but what I received were definitely Buffalo wings. Also, I didn't think to take a picture before, but I only received 9 wings. Again, I was pretty hungry and, thankfully, I like Buffalo wings so I just went ahead and ate them. Plus, neither one of us felt like going back out that night. The wings were just okay, considering they weren't what I ordered and the skin could have been darker/crispier. My husband said the pizza was just okay in his opinion. He liked the bits of crispy cheese, but he didn't love the sauce or the crust. He just may not be a Detroit-style pizza guy though. The main reason for the three stars is the issue with the wings.

Yelp
Ehhh. Chicken parmesan sandwich was ok, not enough mozzarella cheese but pretty good. Pizza was good but tiny for the price. Oh 17 bucks for ceaser salad, ridiculously over priced.

Yelp
Was in the mood for pizza and my friend recommended it. The service was quick and efficient and they had plenty of seating inside and out. There was also a mini bar with a tv. Had two styles: Detroit style and thin crust. I ordered the Detroit style, she had the thin crust. The dough was fantastic, but the sauce and cheese were just ok. It felt like it needed salt. In their defense if I had topped it with a salty topping it probably would have given me that salt I was looking for. The thin crust had a pesto sauce with ricotta topping. Friend loved it. Will definitely try it again as the dough was the best part.

Yelp
Finally had a chance to try corner slide. They are well known for their Detroit style pizza. I ordered a regular size "Riker". The pizza had red sauce, hot honey, hot ham, pepperoni, jalepenos, and Calabrian peppers. It was super delicious! I wasn't the biggest fan of Detroit style pizza but I am not. The crust was so good! I will say the toppings could've been dispersed a lot better and maybe more. Also this is their spicy pie, didn't think it was that spicy. The regular size pizza was good for two people with an extra slice or two leftover. I ordered there, since it's Detroit style it does take a little big long to cook. I thought the pricing was fair and the inside was quaint.

Yelp
Such a great little neighborhood spot to find on Yelp! Less than 2 miles from Pullman Yard (Balloon Museum) and plenty of parking on a weekday evening. There's a small entryway, so it looked packed when we came in, but there's actually plenty of room inside. One guy took the orders -- fairly quickly -- and another was firing up pizzas, salads, and wings in the back. Lots of carry out orders being picked up, so that was part of the short line. You order at the counter and take a seat. Don't sleep on the whole floor in the rear of the restaurant, complete with high chairs and a mini-arcade! Restrooms could've been cleaner, especially the men's according to my son. Huge kudos for offering Detroit-style pizza BY THE SLICE!! I also had a small Greek salad and some lemon-pepper wings. Both delicious and made well! I tried a slice with the Space Balls (vegan meatballs), & then the fam split a pepperoni half & olive/mushroom half. Soooo much good! It was even better the next day.

Yelp
Wanted to try out a new spot for National Pizza Day and I'm so glad we ended up at the Corner Slice. We're familiar with Chicago deep dish but not so much Detroit style. I would say this has a little less of the deep layers of Chicago style which means a little more of the fluffy bread underneath. This meant I felt a little less stuffed than I do when I eat Chicago deep dish, so that was nice. This place is a neighborhood type of spot. Very casual, bring the whole family atmosphere. They've got a few tables up front and more in the back. There are also a couple arcade games in the back. We ordered the defiant pizza (standard size) and it was perfect for 2 adults. We also got a salad which was regular. They have a good selection of drinks at the bar. Parking: limited dedicated spots but there's street parking around.
google avatar

Ahmad W.

Yelp
I'm glad that this pizza place is in the neighborhood. They make the pizza to order for the customer. This delicious pizza is definitely worth the wait! I got a regular size Rich Stadium pizza to go. Toppings are garlic butter, cheese ,red onions, chicken, buffalo sauce with blue cheese crumbles! I also got a 5pc of lemon pepper wings with blue cheese on the side! This blue cheese is delicious and the wings are bussing! Don't sleep on this place if you did wake up asap. I ate 2 slices of my pizza on the ride home. It was 6 slices originally. Make a trip here and see for yourself. I also took the wings out of the box and put them in my pizza box for the pic.

Yelp
5/20/2023 Ambiance..small. had a choice of seats as there is not many inside. That changed within 10 or 15 minutes. Looks as if a good 20-30 people can fit without feeling overcrowded. Service: it was good, but questionable later. Man that took over evening shift seemed bit annoyed that I asked about my wing order to go. I placed and paid for it with my original pizza order. Food: ordered vegetable pizza added pepperoni. Supposedly it was regular. 6 square pieces. The bottom was burnt. The bread itself and toppings were perfect. Just was not enough pizza sauce, if any on the pizza. I may not try this pizza again. But would like to come back for the salad and try a sandwich Not sure if I got punked on the pricing of the pizza. I think she said it was about $21 + 5 piece wing $7.99 before taxes. I spent a total of $30. No soda, no water, no ice. Wth?!? Glad I didn't order anything else to try. This will be a 3-tripp type of place to try something different. Parking. Several spaces on either corner of the building and limited street parking. Free. The business name is befitting to location.

Yelp
Corner slice is an absolute amazing . The staff was amazing very helpful and gave a great recommendation. It's a nice chill location nice vibes and great music. After listening to a few recommendations I went with The Defiant 10/10 the crispy edges soft middle and cheesy top is enough to write home about then they added meat. I'm in hog heaven and will most definitely be back to try another pizza.

Yelp
Corner Slice is one of my favorite Atlanta area pizza spots! I have a couple go tos: Namely the Cerritos specialty pie, and the meatball sandwich (which you can get vegetarian or vegan). A lot of dine-in space, but they handle take out quickly and well also. Their two crust styles are both good - Detroit is probably better since it's their most unique, and is oh so crispy. But the bar pie is also good if you are trying to eat less carbs or want a better topping:dough ratio. I get Corner Slice monthly, and plan to keep doing so for the foreseeable future.
google avatar

Vanessa E.

Yelp
This pizza is always fantastic. We have our past 2 puzza orders wrong and Corner Slice finally got it right. The salad are always loaded with toppings and fresh. Parking is a bit difficult but worth the struggle. Takeout is great!
google avatar

Lou E.

Yelp
What' not to love about Corner Slice. They are now open for lunch most days so we had to go. Got there early and got a parking spot. Ordered our pizza and sat. Service was prompt and very friendly. We order the small deep dish pizza with pepperoni, sausage and jalapeños. As we were sitting there I was watching the pizza oven and when the pizza maker opened the oven to check on it I heard it sizzling. I asked did you hear that? It was our pizza. And that cheese was really melting. When the pizza arrived it was served on a wire rack. What a great idea, it keeps it from getting soggy. The pizza was a work of art. It was beautiful The crust(not really a crust) was awesome. Some would say it was burned but no It was the cheese that had oozed over the sided and formed the perfect buttery crunchy crust. We took our slices and dug in. They serve it with a fork and a sharp knife for a reason. The tastes were what we have been wanting for a long time. And what is strange is that we both like thin crust pizzas and this was in no way, shape or form a thin crust. But it was one of the tops and we can't wait to return. Highly recommend.

Yelp
I randomly came across Corner Slice. Since it was my first visit, I decided to try the Detroit style meat lovers and wings. To my surprise, it was difficult to enjoy my pizza. It was over baked, as it was very crunchy for my liking . However, I'll give this establishment another try for the simple fact that the staff were friendly.
google avatar

Kitty K.

Yelp
The plant based meatball sandwich was excellent. Great bread, spicy sauce, good amount of cheese, and savory meatballs. Okay Detroit Base pizza was well made it has a nice spongy inside and a crispy cheese outside could use a little more sauce but outside of that is fantastic.

Rebecca N.

Yelp
Oh my goodness! I throughly enjoy Detroit style, so this will be my new pizza spot. Everyone was so friendly, the place was very clean and thankfully it wasn't super busy! I ordered the Detroit Riker (spicy). I swapped a few things out since I'm vegetarian and I WAS BLOWN AWAY! The flavors were immaculate, it had the perfect crunch and a great cheese pull! My mouth is watering while typing this review lol. I can't wait to go back!
google avatar

Christopher M.

Yelp
Pizza is not good. The crust has an odd burnt taste. Waste of money. It used to be good many years ago.

Dee S.

Yelp
The only thing they can improve on is better napkins. They're too small and thin. And idk if they usually have them and didn't have them the day I went, but they should also provide the little moist towels The wings are exactly the kind I've been looking for for a long time. Hot buffalo was good. Pizza is good. The girl that took my order was so friendly.
google avatar

Simon C.

Yelp
If you love Detroit style pizza and sandwiches you'll adore Corner Slice, which has pan style pizzas, sandwiches and wings that are to die for. My wife had the spicy pizza, which I'll be honest I was a bit skeptical of, but the mixture of sweet and savory flavors and spice was and we'll definitely be ordering it again. I had the Chicken Parm sandwich and honestly it reminded me of sandwiches I ate in little italy in the Bronx in college, hearty and really tasty bread and a nice fully breaded piece of chicken nicely melted into the bun. The staff is super friendly and walked us through the menu and overall this is just a great local joint.
google avatar

Thomas S.

Yelp
Ordered 3 different Detroit style pizzas, a large salad and garlic bread. It was ok but wouldn't order again.

Jennifer D.

Yelp
Very pleasantly surprised since I'm not normally a fan of thick pizza. Infinitely better than Fellini's. On par with Glide pizza, very different styles of pizza. Will definitely be back! Had riker, love the hot honey!

Mark K.

Yelp
Great meatballs and pizza. Service was really nice. Cute little spot in a cool neighborhood.

Kip G.

Yelp
Could be good pizza ... unfortunately burned more times than not. Pizza burnt. Crust over cooked to the point of being burnt.
google avatar

Chris S.

Yelp
Holy moley, this place is awesome! Don't know how it's possible, but they make the best Detroit Pie in the city, and the best bar pie i've tasted outside of my home state of Massachusetts. The bar pie is wafer thin with a buttery crust, and a burnt cheese end...it's delish.!!The Detriot pie is fluffy on the inside with a crunchy base with the same burnt cheese crust. Both were done perfectly. My wife's plant based park sandwich was in her words, "stellar". My only regret is that we had this delivered for our first time. Next weekend, it's a visit to them! Go, eat, and keep this awesome place in business. I can't wait to try the cannolis...:) One other point: people on here who complain about the 'burnt' pie have absolutely no clue what a Detroit or Bar pie is. That's the good part, the crispy burnt cheese.

Sarah P.

Yelp
Second time ordering from here (with Uber eats) and errors both times. The first time I paid for mushrooms to be added to one of the menu pizzas, and didn't get them. This time, made my own pizza and paid a lot if money for toppings, only to find that the toppings got added in a decent amount on one end of the pizza (decent not justifying the price) and almost no toppings on the other end of the pizza.
google avatar

Mysti J.

Yelp
This was the worst pizzas I've ever had! The taste of the pizza did not go with what I paid for. You have to pay for every topping which could be fine, if you're actually getting the toppings put on your pizza. They have such a small amount that I couldn't taste mushroom or onions on the pizza. Then it's a Detroit style pizza, so the bread is thick. There was no sauce on the pizza, it was burnt, it had no flavor at all!! I spent $37 for one rectangular pizza that I ate one piece that was just super dry and burnt, I just threw it away. Then when I got there, it was no one else in there and then the cashier took a her time before addressing me due to being on the phone. Please please don't waste your time or money eating at this! If you want to throw money away and not satisfy your pizza craving, then go ahead! You've been warned!!
google avatar

Ace T.

Yelp
Yes it's over-cooked. They take "well-done" a bit too literal. But I think it's subjective. I enjoyed it, by wife didn't. So if you like crunchy and chewy then this is for you.

Hilary K.

Yelp
It takes a while to get here from our side of town but we're going to have to start making the trip more often. We got the vegan cheese pizza with vegan meatballs and it was truly kickass.
google avatar

Jamaica W.

Yelp
I ordered a slice and a coke online. I guess things got mixed up and a 10inch pizza was made. When came to pick it up they just gave it to me without an up charge. So yes 5 stars LOL

Matt W.

Yelp
I have been waiting to post a review, because I didn't want this spot to get too popular. I lived in Austin, Texas for a while and I thought a pizza place there had the best deep dish pizza until I ate here. Do yourself a favor and get to food here

Mary S.

Yelp
I picked up dinner from here for my friends birthday last night. The pizza was delicious, the staff was very friendly, and I have a new favorite pizza place. We also had the lemon pepper wings, and the Greek salad. Both of them were also very good.
google avatar

Stacey L.

Yelp
This pizza is a lot like Sicilian. It has lots of yeast holes within the soft inside dough and the outside edges are very crispy. The sausage is especially good.
google avatar

Average G.

Yelp
As others said, Crust burnt rock hard. Difficult to eat. Outside of the crust, the rest was very average. Disappointed cause we were hoping for a local alternative to Jet's Pizza, which we love for "fast food pizza." I will say their Cesar and Greek salads were phenomenal. Cesar dressing was awesome. Greek salad was loaded. But this makes me miss Jet's. Simply out, we will sadly not be back.

Amber H.

Yelp
Their pizza style is very different than I'm used to, which made a fun change. I actually really liked the Detroit style, but the real winner was the panzanella salad. Will definitely be back regularly.

David D.

Yelp
I love this place. Both the Detroit and bar pies taste amazing. You don't need to order extra cheese. The atmosphere feels great. It is cavernous in a good way. There is a whole back room for you to explore. I would host a birthday party here. Can't wait to try their cannolis.
google avatar

Mith R.

Yelp
Decent but nothing to write home about. In the world of Detroit Style pizza this isn't anything overly amazing. It's decent but honestly Jet's does a better pie.

Stunna B.

Yelp
The service was decent won't complain there. Atmosphere isn't bad, I like the corner layout of the building. The pizza was not worth the price imo. It tasted burnt, was hard to eat due to the dimensions of the pizza, and overall just wasn't tasty. It's Detroit style so it's mainly bread but there's only a thin layer of toppings which is charged individually. It was over $20 for the pizza with a drink. I'll be honest I enjoyed the fountain drink more then anything.

MiMi S.

Yelp
I enjoyed my pizza. The closest I've ever had to Buddy's pizza in Detroit right here in Decatur. The salads really looked good and fresh. I'll be back.
google avatar

Chandra S.

Yelp
Walked in on a Saturday evening. Not too busy at all. Got the spicy regular. Super tasty, especially if you like crispy cheese. Will be back again to try the white pizza. Looked delicious
google avatar

Amie R.

Yelp
Better than Nina and Rafi's and Emmy Squared! The edges are phenomenal!! Yay Corner Slice!
google avatar

Lisa D.

Yelp
Tried this place a couple of times. Both times, pizza burnt to a crisp, greasy and soggy. Love supporting local business, but this pizza is way too expensive and a $8 pizza from Marco's is better.
google avatar

Randy R.

Yelp
Great Detroit style square pizza. Friendly staff and takeout was easy peasy. Go for it!

Angie W.

Yelp
I'm 27 years old and for the first time in my life I've had a spiritual experience eating pizza. The people, especially the young lady at the counter with red hair, was incredibly friendly and cool AF! The atmosphere is relax and welcoming with an at home feel! We struck up a convo about star wars and my love for the mandelorian and the host turned it on the tv and we watched as if we were just having a friendly get together. No idea who these people are but I feel like I'm home!! Pizza is off the chain and the breadstick have given me a religious experience. If and when we come back to Atlanta we will always eat here!
google avatar

Skip G.

Yelp
Tried it for the first time today and liked it a lot ! I love the crisp edges. Nice change from all the other places near me. Got two slices of pepperoni and it was very filling. Definitely going to go back again.
google avatar

Lewis C.

Yelp
Great Detroit Style pizza! Make sure you get the corners well done! We did a pickup order & everything was perfect!

Brooke M.

Yelp
We initially ordered from Corner Slice when they first opened. We had a horrible experience. It took 4 hours to get our order, and our Detroit pie was ice cold, burnt to a crisp, and inexplicably had sauce thrown on top (as if to hide the black pepperonis). We spoke to the staff and we're refunded our money. We understood that they were having operational issues and decided to come back in a couple months to try again. The second time, we were hopeful and ordered the bar pie. Again, extremely overdone. Bottom was black, edges were black. Tasted extremely burnt. Overall, there could be potential. But there needs to be some sort of quality control on the food they're giving to customers..... We will not be returning.
google avatar

Julia T.

Yelp
Delicious! Had never experienced Detroit style pizza but my family and I loved it. Friendly staff also.
