Cornfield Bakery

This is a bakery shop that do Caribbean food too, and they do it good! I came here as I was sort of working in the area, and this was the closest place that done Caribbean food to where I was. They greeted me straight away, took my order and served it to me very efficiently. I was well satisfied as I craved that kind on food for a few days by then. If I ever come back to the area I would defo visit again!

Cornfield Bakery in Thornton Heath is without a doubt one of the best West Indian Bakeries in London and I used to visit here regularly until the civilised World became contactless about 100 years ago. I visited the store again in March 2024 and you guessed it they still are the sole cash only business that I personally know. I like many people no longer carry cash and it defies any reasonable business logic why this establishment refuses to meet the needs of its customers, which should be in my opinion your primary concern when running any type of business. I unfortunately refuse to support any business that is operating in the dark ages and refuses to take card payments in 2024 and thankfully there are alternative great options in South London.

Excellent Caribbean bakery. Patties, bread and bun are amazing. Clean and welcoming shop. They need to accept card payments though!

What to say, ordered food for our wedding reception, food great but requested vegetarian curry with No mushrooms as one quest has a serious allergic reaction, they told my now husband they don’t cook with mushrooms, on the day the quest had the curry with mushrooms lots of mushrooms in the curry🙈what a disaster for the quest, called them no apology said they did not know??? My now husband has a allergic reaction to peanuts and know how serious this is and no way would not have told them, so for me never again, so disappointing as have always loved this place

You know a place is this good when there's a queue outside the door there products always fresh worth the wait love all the carribean bakery products love my hard dough bread from here treasure of the area

Love the bun, bread, patties and salt fish dumplings here. They also do a range of really good cakes! have still not tried the hot food but heard its very good.

I drive from Putney to get my bread etc, I've been coming to this bakery for close to 20 years... I wish they still made the ginger bread men, my son loved them ❤️

Been buying from here for years as the make the best food around IMO! I've since moved to the Midlands, but still pass by when I'm down to pick up bun as no-one bakes them like Cornfield!

My favourite west indian bakery full of tasty treats. traditional jamaican food hardough bread, bun, patties. They sell some traditional dishes aswell like ackee & saltfish, stewed chicken, fried chicken, roti. They always have a huge queue along the street easter and xmas when families put their order in. Its 30 mins drive from me but its worth the drive as they make the best jamaican bun in my opinion.

This is by far one of the best bakeries of its kind. In addition to the hard dough breads, buns and patties which they sell they also do a wide range of dishes. You can get Ackee and saltfish, Jamacian cheese, coca bread, fish and a variety of other meals in large and small sizes. The price for what you get is good value as the food is freshly prepared on site on a daily basis. If the service speed was improved it would score 5 stars but as it is often busy or people and staff sharing stories or catching up I can live with that.

Caribbean food cooked on the premises, this is a popular shop in this area. Get here at the wrong time and you will be joining a queue of many people waiting to get their freshly baked goods which include hard-dough bread, patties and bun. They also sell savoury delights to take away from chicken stew, dumplins, fish, ackee, etc. This shop has been here a long time and expect it will be here for some time to come also.

Do not attempt to buy bread from them the day before Easter. They will purposefully go to the back and bring you stale gone off bread. It was awful , never ever again

nice bakers for soft hard dough bread. the patties used to be the best. but management changed. still a good place for bread.
