Came here again after two years, and finally got a place to sit inside the cafe because it was off season and all rainy on a weekday morning.
The ambience inside is beautiful, the music is pleasant, the interiors are mildly lit. But that’s where it ends.
The tables are old and fragile, the chairs are creaky, and the service is unbelievably bad for a cafe of this hype.
There is no greeting at the door, no smiles, no suggestions, no prompt bill, and I got my carrot cake with a part chipped off.
The spoon I got with my coffee was sticky.
Worst of all, the servers just kept staring and looking at everyone eating there, and in spite of the dreamy ambience, I couldn’t wait to get out of there.
They don’t serve food before 12, so all I had was coffee and dessert.
The apple pie crumble was heavenly though, the carrot cake was too crumbly for my taste, and the coffee was average.
They do have fresh tea on the menu, but when asked, I was told that it’s just ginger/lemon/lavender/others in hot water and not actually tea. That should have been clearer in the menu.
All in all, a beautiful cafe that has a long waiting time to get in, and dreamy food is loosing all its charm due to the quality of service.
It’s heartbreaking to see Coromandel like this.
