Corona Island in Colombia Is Open to the Public for the First Time

"An eco-protected island off the coast of Colombia, offering tiki-style bungalows with beachfront settings and private jacuzzis. The island is known for its sustainable practices, immersive outdoor activities, and commitment to preserving natural beauty. It features a restaurant serving local flavors, an alfresco bar, and a sandy, zen lounge area." - Chrissie McClatchie Chrissie McClatchie Chrissie McClatchie writes about travel, wine, and yachting from her home on the Côte d’Azur, where she has lived for nearly two decades. Isla Corona (Islas del Rosario, Cartagena) Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"You can just visit Corona Island for the day, but it would be hard to resist staying the night to wake up in paradise. The tiny Caribbean island is home only to the hotel, which is actually more of a collection of eco-friendly boat-shaped cabins, designed to maximize the sound of the waves and positioned to face the sunset views. The rest is dedicated to nature, with pristine beaches, lush forest, and a turtle zone which together are home to titi monkeys, parrots, macaws and several protected species. Completely disconnected, guests can immerse themselves in the slow pace of beach and island life with a yoga class, sunbathing, or reading in the library, or explore the waters with kayaking, snorkeling and stand up paddleboarding. The restaurant serves up the flavors of the Caribbean, and the Sunclub is the place to meet to catch the sunset and kick off the evening." - Tablet Hotels

A Beautiful Colombian Island Once Shut Off to Travellers is Now Open for the First Time

Nestled in the Colombian Caribbean, this island run by beer brand Corona boasts tropical forests and a beach of powdery white sand, and for the first time since 2021 travellers can now book to visit rather than needing an invitation. Day passes start from £126 and include a round-trip speed boat from Cartagena, a seafront sun lounger, yoga, stand-up paddle-boarding and kayaking, plus a three-course à la carte lunch with some Coronas. For £379, it’s also possible to book a twin or king bungalow for two to stay overnight, making it sound like a solid option for a romantic getaway. Described as an ‘eco-protected natural paradise’, the island has been awarded a three-star plastic-free Blue Seal by conservation group Oceanic Global for eliminating single-use plastic, and it uses local ingredients for cooking, traditional building techniques and solar energy. With breathtaking landscapes, sustainable practices and immersive outdoor activities, it is pitched as a unique setting where every experience reflects a dedication to preserving the beauty of the natural world. - Liv Kelly

I wanted to thank the entire Corona Island team for the incredible hospitality for our stay from Nov. 10, 2025 to the 15th. They made every accommodation for my almost 83 year old mother, which included a personal assistant to help her walk to and from bungalow for meals. The bungalow were absolutely fabulous with the ocean sounds all day and night and were wonderfully air conditioned and the outdoor shower was super unique and relaxing. The meals was amazing, and well thought out, with appetizers, main course and desserts. The excursions were well planned and fun as well. We certainly enjoyed our mother-daughter trip of a lifetime and would love to go back in a heartbeat. Thank you!!!

A wonderful experience, immersed in nature yet with every comfort, surrounded by kind and smiling staff. I loved the activities offered: snorkeling, the mangrove experience, the massages, the cooking class, the sound healing experience, and the themed evenings (paella, pizza, BBQ, and Asian cuisine). Not to be overlooked are the beauty of the island's animals: macaws, parrots, greedy monkeys, and all the others whose calls, along with the sound of the waves, provided the background music for a holiday we'll always treasure. ❤️

Let me start off with the room rating: We were in Bungalow 9. The thatch on the overhang to the shower needs to be refreshed or a good sweep off, lots of decayed, black, bath mat staining debris. The room was musty with a hint of mildew( I had allergy meds and was fine with it) but the aesthetics were beautiful! The Staff was top notch! Shout out to Junior, our Host! Jessica, Carla, Samuel, and the young man at the restaurant who wonderfully always had coffee ready at 7AM. Our Star*tender(I forgot your name🤦🏽‍♀️) the soup at breakfast time was much appreciated, food-8, desserts-8 service-10 Views, Location, Atmosphere and Environment-10+ and ALL THE CORONA YOU CAN EVER DRINK!

Amazing experience at Corona Island, it’s paradise on earth, loved the animal, the beaches and the food but most of all the bungalows where amazing, the sound of the waves are the best white noise you could ask for. The sun set has been one of the best I’ve ever seen, I was so comfortable on my bed I missed the sun rise, maybe next time Thanks for an amazing stay
