NYC Restaurant Closings, February 2023 - Eater NY

"Cuban restaurant Cafe Cortadito is done after 18 years on East Third Street. Owners Ricardo Arias and Patricia Valencia attributed the closure to a rent hike — from $8,000 to $15,000 a month, according to EV Grieve. 210 E. Third Street, near Avenue B" - Luke Fortney

This Cuban place is known for their good food and bottomless special. 2 hours and an entree for less than $40 is almost a steal. Best bet is to make reservations. Although the food was great and the drinks were cheap, the service was where they tanked. Our main server was amazing, very quick and very nice with keeping track of who ordered what, even making special requests to get the food perfect. However another server stepped in almost 15 minutes early and stopped us from receiving more of our bottomless menu, very discouraging. This other server than lied to us saying we arrived earlier than our reservation (knowing we actually showed up 10 minutes late) and argued about it with us. Needless to say, it put a damper on a great experience at the end. Still worth a try if you have time, just make sure to keep track of it while you are there.

I enjoy eating here with my friends. They offer the brunch special all day long all week which is great. Some places only offer brunch during the weekends at certain times. But if I wanted to get chicken and waffles on a Thursday evening with unlimited drinks, this is the spot to go. This time I went, I ordered the Lobster Benedict, the lobster was replaced with shrimp since they didn't have lobster at the time. Either way, it tasted great. My only comment is I thought the dish as a whole was lacking. The salad had a tangy peach dressing which was very good but I thought they could've added more to the salad. Overall, I think the lobster benedict can be even better if they added a few more things to it. I loved their drinks and the server was always there to replace our empty bottles and sangria pitchers. Would definetley come back for brunch again.

Outside seating and social distancing. The food ans drinks here are great. The Guava mojito was extra tasty. I wish I took pictures of all the food that came to the table because everything was so good. I will definitely return and bring more ppl.

I enjoyed the brunch. Their selections of brunch beverages were great. The price was a little above average for bottomless brunches. The service was great and they kept the drinks coming. My biggest complaint was the portions for $32 were small. It would of been nice to have a muffin basket too.

Came in for brunch with my sister, we really liked the different options they have for bottomless drinks, in particular we enjoyed the champagne margarita. The food wasnt what we expected but we were hungry and ate it anyways. When i think of cuban food i immediately think of flavors and that is what we think our food was missing.

The space inside was very cramped, we ordered the ox tail, shredded beef and the avocado dip for an appetizer ... the food was very plain and didn't seem very fresh ... in fact, the guac dip tasted like packaged supermarket dip ... they have an 1.5 hour all you can drink menu and we believe that is the draw of the place ...
