Google
The leader in sub and sandwich rolls in this part of town. They also have fresh breakfast sandwiches and subs. The cheeseburger, steak and royal subs are my favorite!! 🤤💖

Donna Wlosinski

Google
Who doesn't love a Costanzo sub roll!! Stop to get 3 12 inch rolls for homemade subs to take to the beach. Could have stop at Tops or somewhere else to get 6 rolls but only needed 3 so why not stop and get some fresh ones!

JJ

Google
Great rolls, sub rolls, and other baked goods. Wish they were open on Saturdays. Sit down area for lunch. Subs, soup, etc. They need to bring back sesame seed topped rolls. Recommended.

I was recently put on to Costanzos Baked goods by a friend. I enjoyed the texture and flavor so much that when I needed sandwich buns for this weekend I drove 30 minutes to see the store itself. I wasn't disappointed. First it was very clean. The staff were all happy and accommodating. I already enjoyed the product and enjoyed the main store vibe very much.

Google
Their breakfast sandwiches are the BEST! Especially the Ham, Egg, and Cheese on a Roll! I've been getting these for almost 18+ years! Service is fast, the dining space is small but cute and nice. The food is delicious!

Rich Snyder

Google
Purchased an 8 pk sandwich rolls at Wegmans. They were not fully baked and all dough. Sure would like a compensation since my dinner and burgers on this batch sucked, very not like the bakerys products

If you're from Buffalo NY, you've likely already heard and tasted Costanzo's rolls. Their rolls are always fresh and they increase the taste of a sandwich by 100, especially if you toast the bread. I like the fact they offer food here as well. It ranges from breakfast sandwiches, to hot specialty subs as well as cold subs. My favorite sub is their royal, followed by their steak and cheese. Honestly, all the sandwiches I have tried are very good, fresh, and clean. You can choose to eat at the restaurant or to go. The sitting area is comfortable and spacious.

Google
Best steak and cheese sub I've had in a LONG time!! Everything there is delicious and fresh!!!

Yelp
Favorite place to eat lunch. Food and customer service is always the best! Never a bad experience. Wish they were open on weekends!

Yelp
While the food is good - the hours suck - Closed all weekend, and then when you do go on the weekdays , they quit making hot and cold subs at 1:30pm ... Whaaaa??? Why bother even staying open for crying out loud. I have out of town company and every time we "attempt" to go there , they change their hours .. totally ridiculous.

Yelp
If you haven't had a Costanzo sub from the sub shop, you're missing out. The ham sub is better than anybody else's in Buffalo. It's always so neat. It's not messy stacked really nice. Very tasty. I've been getting Costanza sub since they were on Delavan Avenue in Buffalo I highly recommend them, if you're looking for a really good sub, there's nothing better.

Kate S.

Yelp
Tried to order from here today. on the website it says the sandwich shop is open 8-1 and the bakery is open 8-4. when i tried to call they said they stopped taking sub orders at 230. really should be more clear about their hours. the subs are fantastic, truly never had a bad sub from them but never know if they are open or if they are taking orders.

Yelp
Was here on business and was craving an east coast sub since I'm originally from NJ and living in CO the comfort food like subs, pizza, bagels, and even Chinese takeout isn't even remotely as good. A coworker works in Buffalo recommended this place. There are two parts to the location, a small bakery and and smaller retail side that sells bread, cookies and sandwiches. I'd say the draw here is the bread itself which was very soft right out of the oven and tastes great. The sandwich ingredients have a homemade taste to them which isn't a good or bad thing. But has a more familiar taste like you made a sandwich at home yourself. The large sandwich is a little smaller than I'm used to back but was plenty of food. Another positive here is food is reasonably priced. In Colorado for a large sub from jimmy John's might run you 27 bucks for a combo. Where as here a fountain drink chips and 12" sub was 16 bucks. Overall For the price and what you get this is a great deal. Would definitely stop by for a sub again.

Yelp
Costanzo's regular rolls are to die for. I tried the new healthy ones and the minute I opened the package there was a very strong smell. Smelled like maple syrup, not that that's a bad thing but Don't try to eat them cold because they are definitely not tasty. You must heat them first. And with every bite you get that smell. I realize they are healthier than their regular but when you want the best tasting sandwich roll who care about healthy?

Yelp
I had written previous reviews regarding this bakery that were removed. At the time I was having some issues with some of the staff and not the product. Everything has changed. I know this bakery from when they started out in the city. I used to stop in for rolls and cold subs. I moved to West Seneca and they followed shortly thereafter. There is NOTHING better than a Costanzo roll! The rolls are doughy, a little sweet and hold up to sub ingredients. At one point the bakery sold breakfast sandwiches and subs in addition to their rolls and bread. That's all changed since covid. The bakery section had been closed however rolls were still being produced and sent pre-packaged to various supermarkets/stores. The packaged rolls are good, just not as good as the ones you buy at the bakery. Maybe it's just me or maybe it's the smell associated with fresh baked rolls. Anyway, Costanzo's has reopened to the public. All the rolls that were offered before along with a "specialty" roll of the day. Subs are no longer offered - just breakfast sammies. I'm there every week now for my comforting roll fix.

Dee G.

Yelp
Closed on the weekends now. What gives? After years of being open on football weekends, they're not open.

Yelp
This place was great for lunch. The sandwiches are huge and ours were made fresh to order. Everyone in line to order also got the rolls so will have to try those next time. There is plenty of space to eat inside but we opted for take out. Smells heavenly inside! Can't wait to be back.

Yelp
I've been enjoying Costanzo's rolls for years as a Buffalo native but who knew they had a deli, and that it was three minutes from my house! Upon receiving a tip from a friend I had to stop by to see what this was all about! I was here for breakfast so I can only comment on that but the place was small, quick, and very busy on a Saturday morning.I ordered bacon egg and cheese on one of those famous tasty rolls and it was super good! Fresh cracked egg, real bacon, and melty cheese all on that semi sweet toasty bun yum! They've also got loads of other lunch sandwiches, pastries, and of course bread and rolls to purchase as well. They've also got drinks and tables to sit and eat if you feel like staying to finish your sandwich. I can't wait to go back and try a lunch or dinner sub, the menu looked great!

Yelp
It hurts me to even give this review because costanozs as been my favorite place for years. I love going in on sundays, ordering my breakfast sandwich and bread for dinner then rolls for the week but today they really let me down. First, I called ahead and asked for the garlic bread (fresh Italian slathered in an amazing garlic butter) and they told me they didn't have ANY non sliced Italian bread today ( second time this has happened). :( Then I get there to order my rolls and they are all sitting there pre packaged and limited... they didn't have the dill breadsticks either( back up to my garlic bread option) double bummed. So I skipped the rolls too because I can go to any other retailer and pick up a prepackaged package of rolls that in my option taste wayyyyyyy different than the fresh ones baked that day sitting on the rack waiting for me to buy them. I have actually complained at the store and they "wrote it down with the other complaints" since stopping weekend production and making them in advance and packaging them but that hasn't changed anything so it's time to make it yelp official and let them know my concern. I need my fresh bread and rolls on a Sunday! Pleaaaaase and I love them so much I cannot go to 1 star even though that's how upset I am.

Yelp
After passing by this place oh, probably 1,000 times and never stopping, yes..... I stopped. Not just because my friend works for Costanzo's, but because every great / fast sandwich shop in WNY gets their rolls here or they make their own. I had a roast beef sub tonight and for being a "bread factory", they sure did it right when they put the sandwich shop in the front. From gourmet grilled cheeses to soups and everything in between. I even met a real "Newman" that works there! (sorry for the Seinfeld reference, yeah... I went there) The rolls are really top notch. I will stop again when in need for something one the fly.

Yelp
Besides the outstanding bread, Costanzo's also has a small dining area. You can order cold and hot subs on a selection of sub rolls or on a - what else could it be? - Costanzo's roll. The subs are pretty good and reasonably priced, with either an 8" or 12" sub or a hard roll. They offer fountain and bottled soft drinks, with the option to make it a meal with chips or potato salad as well. And they also have breakfast sandwiches. So you can have a meal when picking up rolls for your next meal. Not a bad deal.

Yelp
George Costanzo from Seinfeld actually owns this place. He bakes the bread himself. When his bakery assistant says "the restaurant called, they've run out of our rolls", he yells "oh yeah, well the Jerk Store called and they're out of YOU!" I'm actually serious. It's $11 for a roll here, and you have to speak Spanish to buy them. Hence they are called "Costonze" as in Onze Dolares. Seriously though a lot of my favourite sandwiches in WNY are made using these rolls. They are by far the best rolls in the region and most people agree. Bailey Seafood is the ultimate example. They really make those sandwiches, and those are the best sandwiches I've ever had - fish sandwiches anyway. Long live George Costanza. I wonder if Jerry is going to open up a magician's store now? He can call it "Jerry's Hat Tricks." I'm sure it will entertain older folks.

Yelp
Just picked up a package of sub rolls at Tops. When I got home I found there were several fruit flies in the bag. Yuck.

Yelp
Everytime I come home to Buffalo,I HAVE to stop for at least 6 Dzn sub rolls to take back to NC!! Nothing Compares to their rolls!! I just into visit my Family today. My Peeps back in NC said don't forget the rolls!! Then In pulls Bob! He's So Cool!!

Yelp
There's nothing quite like a super-fresh Costanzo's roll! It's always special to stop into the actual bakery when tooling around and realizing you're so close, you have to pop in and pick up some rolls. Customer service at the bakery has almost always been adequate, but personality-less, a definite loss of star. Earlier this summer, I placed an order for the Fourth of July holiday. They kindly asked if I'd like the rolls sliced, and wow! what a timesaver that was. On the day of the party, I picked up the rolls in a heartbeat, all fresh and ready in plastic baggies. On the downside, the rolls are laden with sodium, a definite negative, and the rolls are pretty low on the nutritional scale. But, oh well, sometimes ya gotta splurge.

Yelp
I had heard about Costanzo's and went today for the very first time for a quick lunch. Clean, tidy counters. A disappointing lack of freshed baked anything smell - and this bakery is all about bread - no pies or cakes or sweets. I ordered their monthly special - a turkey pesto - and was surprised to get a very tasty grilled cheese turkey pesto. I was hoping to save half the sandwich for later, but ended up wolfing both halves down. Lunch special combo, with chips and a drink, $9.25. My only negative was that the staff seemed a little aloof, and the piping hot sandwich melted the styrofoam plate. I will have to return and try something else!

Jay J.

Yelp
Subs are really good on the famous Costanzo's sub roll ! Had a few hot subs - Italian delight (half) - cheeseburger royal (full). Both very good - if you can wait 10 minutes at lunch time - worth the wait! You can call your order ahead

Yelp
The rolls here are the best in Buffalo. Cheap, you get your money's worth. Only accept cash, ATM in the lobby

Yelp
This is as good as it get's Buffalo (at least bread wise)! If you are having a cookout, friends from out of town or just want to have an awesome balance to any sandwich, a trip to Costanzo's is a must! They sell their products at a lot of places around buffalo, and apparently even nationally! I grew up on these and now have started making the trip out to Cheektowaga to indulge on some carb goodness! The buns are super soft, and once you try them, you won't go back! Truly an experience, and if you are one that says the bun doesn't matter.... Get out of the kitchen, and go down to Costanzo's, you won't be disappointed!

Don Y.

Yelp
Generally a satisfactory sandwich roll but they discontinued weck rolls so I don't see how they come back from this. At least offer it seasonally. You're in buffalo.

Yelp
I came here on a Friday at 12:30 to meet my mom on her lunch break. We just wanted something simple and quick to enjoy on their patio while chatting. I honestly thought we would be in and out of here quite fast given their small sandwich/sub menu. We ordered two of their 8" sandwiches. My mom got the spinach and cheese sandwich and I ordered a turkey sandwich with some veggies. We also got one combo which came with chips and a drink. The total for all was $18 something. After ordering and filling up our beverage we waited...and waited...and waited. Then finally TWENTY minutes later received our food. Luckily we weren't in a huge rush; however waiting twenty minutes for two small sandwiches (neither which had anything hot nor any ingredients that needed to be cooked on them) is just unacceptable. The sandwiches were satisfactory, and the outdoor patio which we enjoyed them on was decent. I probably won't return to dine in though just because of the wait. On the other hand, my family has been a customer for years, purchasing rolls for parties of all kinds. If you are in a hurry and/or on a lunch break, I would advise to call ahead and place your order before arriving.

Yelp
Slower than shit, been waiting for a breakfast sandwich for 20+ minuets, wait I just got it and ate it shit is hella bomb. Nice people good Sammy slower than my old lady trying to pick out what she wants for dinner

Yelp
I decided to break out of my usually defined lunch option radius today. This was my first visit to the bakery/sandwich shop. Upon entering, I enjoyed the wafting aroma of fresh bread. The menu offers the usual WNY assortment of subs. I ordered small turkey club sub with a side of potato salad to go. My order was expedited In a prompt manner which was good considering the extra drive time. When I returned to office, I realized I was given the wrong sub. In the interest of hunger & time, I didn't go back. In general this particular sub was quite light in substance. I guess it's all about the bread. I can say I'm one and done with this lunch venue.

Yelp
I must be honest just stopped bye here and ordered a sub from the shop, everyone I've talked to spoken highly of their subs. They were right they're are smoking, rolls are super fresh melt in your mouth never had 1 prepared like it ever and I love their rolls . Service was quick with a full cafe of patrons even handed it to me instead of putting on a counter.Next time I pass bye I'll definitely stop it's a treat!!

Yelp
I had a burger at Taffys and I'm thinking that bun came from here so I went and ordered a bunch to bring back to St Louis with me, unfortunately a few of them won't make it back because I broke into them in the car.

Yelp
Dear Julie: i am a restaurant owner in the buffalo area. my family has used costanzo products for over 50 years. your review concerning waste was unfair and heres why: 1) they dont use preservatives. its day old bread after 12 hours and restricted by the health department 2) they do make donations of fresh rolls everyday. those orders are preordered and delivered or picked up fresh every morning. 3) whats not taken by pig farmers for feed is waste. 4) anything that does not meet the standards is tossed. hope you understand.

Tim N.

Yelp
THE ROLLS!... THE ROLLS! known for its freshest bread. This place gets so busy on all holidays that they hire road services to control the traffic and tents for the waiting lines. It's one amazing Bakery that no other place can compare. They have a deli inside too if you want sandwiches, also very good. I think that the bread is backed in some oven stolen from the Gods. Lol
google avatar

Kristina K.

Yelp
We try to stop here every once in a while while in the area. The products are great! I have some major negatives. With the lack of personality from the staff, I rather go somewhere else. Some staff members seem to want to be somewhere else than here. Here is a recommendation to the owners--get better staff members WITH personality. Also, being in today's market, who doesn't accept credit cards? I will not spend upwards of $3 to withdrawn cash from an ATM. How many people carry cash? How do you survive without being customer-oriented? The owners really need to step up their game. Long lines, with staff who could really care less, and not accepting credit cards....I will go elsewhere! Don't see this business surviving long term since this business doesn't cater to the younger crowds of the population.

Yelp
Ever since I was a 15 year old kid working in a pizzeria, I've loved Costanzo's rolls. To me, a sub just isn't a sub on anything else.

Wendy M.

Yelp
Love their food but really have to work on customer service. Counter people are always miserable and not very polite. Lady brought me sesame seed Italian bread and I asked for plain because husband is allergic to seeds. Tried making a joke about not wanting to spend night in hospital and lady rolled her eyes and got another bread for me and didn't even reply to my "have a nice day". Anytime I go in there, workers seem so miserable.

Dan S.

Yelp
Love the rolls here, but I've been there a few times and they've run out of rolls. Pretty silly.

Tom D.

Yelp
My father ordered 3 dozen rolls to make a big Buffalo meal with beef on weck for my sister's in-laws, who traveled across the state for her wedding shower. I ran into heavy traffic driving there from the shower and though I arrived just 4 minutes after they officially closed, the clerk said she couldn't do anything. I pleaded and explained we had family in town and my dad had placed an order, but still, there was nothing she could do. She told me Tops and Wegman's carry their rolls, except she failed to mention those stores only carry the white rolls (I love out of the area now; the baker at Wegman's was polite and patient enough to explain why kimmelweck rolls aren't packaged). After four trips to four different supermarkets, we were able to scrounge up enough rolls for dinner, but some of us missed out on family activities to make those trips. I absolutely should have been there on time, but it was still very disappointing that a local business couldn't be bothered to help out a customer, and even more disappointing that the clerk seemed more concerned with getting out of there than taking a moment to ask what we had ordered and offer some advice on where we might be able to find a substitute.
