Costco Wholesale

There's something really off with the "fresh" produce at this Costco. I first noticed it with bananas - they would start going bad very shortly in a weird way (turns black from the core, instead of turning mushy, making it impossible for making banana bread). Prepared salad greens need to be immediately compartmentalized with paper towels or else would turn into mush in 1-2 days. Most recently, bought a bag of celery stalks where it looked fine from the outside, but when I was about to cook it at home, I noticed that it was all mushy in the center of the stalks - see pics. And of course, these are all well before the best-by date (e.g., bought the celery stalks 5 days before sell-by date). Maybe it's how they handle refrigeration, but I'm not sure, but there's a trend of produce looking okay on the surface but actually gone bad beneath the surface.

We stopped in for some lunch at the cafe and it was a bit of a mess. I would go to another one if you can! -The berry smoothies were unavailable. -The line to pick up our food was long and slow because only one person was filling order. -The ketchup and mustard pumps were empty - the napkin holders were empty. - the pizza and chocolate chip cookies were raw - they only had Pepsi, Diet Pepsi, Brisk tea and Buble

A great selection of items you can't find anywhere else. However, while visiting 12/20/24 we had a horrible experience at the check out counter. My spouse and I were checking out, and she scanned her membership card. We are on the same membership. My spouse went to the bathroom (we live about 2 hours away) and gave me her credit card to pay. The cashier saw all of this happen. The total was close to $500 and I went to pay. She almost refused to finish checking us out because I was using my wife's credit card. I showed her my membership card, told her we were married, we share the same last name, and reminded her she just ran to the bathroom. She continued to argue with me but finally gave in. I've never been treated so poorly by a cashier at Costco before. I understand they are trying to crack down on "shared" memberships, which wasn't the case here--we are both Costco Executive members and spend quite a bit of money at Costco each month. Perhaps this was because we are a same-sex and interracial couple. Whether it was the cashier's intent to discriminate or not, we certainly felt it!

I was treated with bias and disrespect at the door exiting. I work here and do bed sheets and robe sales for a temporary event. I left to go charge my phones on my break with nothing in hand. I had on white Jordan’s, blue jeans, an off black tee shirt, and a 49ers hat. My 1 star review comes from an overweight woman with big grey curly hair and a purple shirt on this particular Sunday. She asked me if I had a receipt for that hat I have on my head and i explained no because it’s mine. I proceed to show her my work badge. This costco I just lost a ton of respect for it. I went to chat to the security and a cleaner to explain my frustrations and they said to not let it ruin my day. It’s not safe to be Mexican in some places or to look like me. Supervisors and managers check your door people and tell them to mind their own business I am not stealing.

Always great deals and now with self checkout makes shopping a breeze.

Expect insanity and lack of available personnel to help. There is a lot of people no matter what time. Since inventory is not always the same at every Costco (understandable) but SF seems to always have better variety. There is stock, but no one to put it on the shelf. You can see it there, like organic milk is in the refrigerator but it is unpacked.

Today I went to the optometry dept to get new frames. They have the friendliest staff. Sam helped me today and I'd give him 10 stars. He was do helpful, patient and kind. While I waited my turn I watched the three staff who were on duty, all were working as fast as they could, but Sam had an exceptional level of customer service. He was efficient, clearly explained everything and was pleasant the entire time. He really knew the important parts of eyeglasses and took time to get the fit just right.

Clean, organize, friendly staffs. Pretty Costco in the city! Parking lot is huge here but no gas station at this location! Pretty busy during peak hours, and the Costco store is huge. Food courts get really packed too. Staffs are great here. Family on weekends are nice.
