Cotoita - Review - Downtown - Miami - The Infatuation

"Mixed greens and grains shoved into a compostable bowl will never make for an exciting lunch. Unless it’s coming from Cotoita. The Ecuadorian food stall insideCentral Faremakes a rich goat stew served atop rice that’s so good, it’s hard to believe it’s coming from a place that shares bathrooms with the Brightline station. It makes sense when you realize this is the brainchild ofCotoa—one of Miami’s best restaurants. The bowls are customizable, but we like ours with pickled onions, toasted corn, and a hefty drizzle of ají de maracuya. They have other proteins like seco de pollo and grilled pork, but none compare to that goat, which is definitely worth the $4 surcharge." - Mariana Trabanino

I had seen long lines at this restaurant before and was happy to see a smaller lineup today. I am still working my way around at this food hall in the Brightline station by visiting each of the 12 restaurants located here. Some are really good and others are good enough. At this place, you order at their counter, pay, and carry your order to a table. This place was clean, nicely organized and the staff were friendly. We received our food quickly. Today we tried Ecuadorian food at Cotoita for the first time. While we were standing in line, we chatted with a gentleman who comes here everyday for lunch. So we asked him his opinion of what to order. He said he had tried everything and his favorite was the pork with sides. He said the chicken was OK but a little on the dry side. We enjoy pork dishes so we decided we would try his recommendations. We ordered the healthy choice. It included a kale salad, cornbread, passion fruit, corn, rice, sauces, and I got 1/2 shredded pork and 1/2 chicken. My daughter got the same. Everything was good except the chicken and the cornbread were dry. I had water with my lunch. I would come back here again after I try more places at the Central Fare Food Collective.

Cotoyita is a great spot for authentic Ecuadorian food! The flavors are delicious and truly remind me of Ecuador. The portions are generous, and the prices are very reasonable for the quality you get. Highly recommend it if you’re looking for real Ecuadorian cuisine.

Delicious fast casual Ecuadorian food made with fresh ingredients and friendly service. I ordered the goat stew (seco de chivo) with plantains and it was really delicious. Loved that they have Ecuadorian coffee and chocolate for sale.

I personally did not enjoy my bowl that much. It was not bad, but I got the chivito and it was very hard and not tender at all. I couldn’t finish the last parts of it because the lamb was too tough. I love lamb but this lamb stew was honestly not great. The rice was not the best either it tasted a bit undercooked to me and the rest of the bowl was underwhelming like the radish and maracuya sauce were not memorable. I wasn’t impressed with me $22 bowl.

A place where everything I tasted was delicious. My favorites were the goat stew and the seco de pollo. It was the perfect healthy, affordable, and satisfying lunch. I also tried their pan de yuca, which was super soft and very cheesy. The sauce it comes with made it the perfect mix of sweet and savory. The bowls are beautifully presented and full of vibrant colors, which really shows the quality of the ingredients you’re enjoying.

Yelp
The line is usually long at this place so I assumed the food was good. I ordered a 1/2 and 1/2 bowl with rice/quinoa, salad, 1/2 coconut chicken, 1/2 goat, corn (the big ones), diced tomatoes and cheese. The goat was extremely salty and spoiled the whole bowl. I couldn't even finish it. I was so disappointed because I was looking forward to trying the goat here since I saw Guga try it a couple months ago. I think the coconut chicken was good but unfortunately the salty goat overpowered everything. Service was excellent!
