The Best Rum Bars and Cocktails in London: Where to Drink Rum in 2022 | Eater London

"With branches located across the city, Cottons’s west London branch (right at the the heart of where Notting Hill Carnival takes place), holds the Guinness World Record for the biggest selection of rum in the world, with exactly 372 varieties to try. For drinkers looking for more of a fun sharing cocktail, the “Grand Ocean Breeze” is worth a try. It’s made with coconut rum, mixed with lychee juice, apple juice, lime, and blue Curacao." - Keshia Sakarah

We personally had a great experience and received great customer service. The restaurant itself is nicely decorated and the seating arrangements were good. We enjoyed sitting outside because the weather was nice and we had a little one with us who wanted to be in the heat! The food was delicious, but we thought it was a little too expensive (mind you, it is Notting Hill so it’s to be expected…). Feedback: I think the shared platter in the starter section could be improved. It’s way too pricey for two spring rolls, 4 dried plantain, 2 fritters and 4 tiny wings… The mocktails were good! I ordered the lamb chops and they were divine. It comes with yam mash which was super creamy and soft. My partner got the mutton curry and he enjoyed it very much.

What an absolutely phenomenal experience at Cottons Notting Hill! The service was outstanding; every single member of the staff went above and beyond to make us feel like cherished guests. A special shout-out to the bartender, who mixed some of the most incredible drinks we tasted in all of London. They were a true highlight. We know exactly where we're heading on our next visit to the city!!

Great Caribbean restaurant in the middle of Notting Hill! When you enter, the hostess will greet you with a pleasant welcome and introduce you to the bar tender. Drinks options are excellent especially if you're a run lover. Main courses bring you back to the isles of the Caribbean. The flavors embodied the spirit of the Caribbean to the point you forget you're in London. Music is mellow but perfect for the setting. I can't recommend Cottons enough. Definitely a must have during your stay in London.

An amazing night was experienced at Cotton’s Notting Hill! The food was scrumptious, the ambience was warm and festive, and the staff made us all feel very special! Anthony and his crew were so hospitable, we cannot sing their praises enough! I would like to thank Reena for the patience and dedication you demonstrated in ensuring our orders were fulfilled and that we were well taken care of. I would definitely recommend Cottons to anyone wanting authentic Caribbean cuisine in an atmosphere of pure vibes and warmth. Blessings 🙏🏾

Last Saturday evening, I visited Cottons with friends, and we had a fantastic experience. From the moment we walked in, the welcome from the manager was warm and inviting, setting the tone for the evening. Every member of the staff was wonderful, but a special mention goes to Abdul, our server for the night. He was the epitome of professionalism—attentive, friendly, and well-versed in the menu, offering insightful recommendations. The food was outstanding, with each of us trying different dishes, and every choice was a hit. The cocktails were equally impressive, crafted to perfection. Overall, I highly recommend this branch of Cottons for its excellent service, delicious food, and vibrant atmosphere and will definitely revisit.

We came for a bottomless brunch and the ladies were so attentive and kind. The music was a vibe and the atmosphere was amazing. The food was 10/10, the flavours, the seasoning, just everything, amazing!

Loved the Jerk chicken. Great drink selection and very good service. Music was a bit loud, but that is nitpicking. Fantastic deals on a tuesday also. Would have loved a second serving of that chicken but alas I was full..

Yelp
I came here for brunch on a Saturday around 12:30 with my sister. If you're gonna do brunch, I would do this time because it got really busy around 1:30pm and there were only 2 servers so I know the service started to get slow. I did the bottomless brunch with rum punch which tasted just how my dad makes it but less sweet. I ordered the jerk chicken with rice and peas and the sweet potato fritter as a starter. Pros: the staff was really nice and were quick to refill our rum punch without having to get their attention. While i'm used to my jerk chicken being a dry rub or smoked, this was more of a saucy jerk sauce which I didn't mind. It honestly wasn't spicy which was good since I wasn't in the mood for that. Cons: the sweet potato fritter was just ok. I really could have done without it. It didn't have any flavor and it was dense. Overall, this is a solid Caribbean place to at least try once when you're in London.

Yelp
The food was all excellent. Everything was delicious. I will say that it was the only time I've had jerk chicken and it really wasn't spicy. Not a complaint cause it was delicious just something worth noting if you're a fan of spicy food.

Yelp
Found this while walking around the hotel. We arrived before they were serving food but the menu selection had us hooked in to eat there. It's nice on the inside the drinks were delicious and help with the wait for them to start serving food. There was so many yummy things on the menu it was hard to decide but in the end we did. If your in the area visiting give them a try the jerk rings were so good wish it was more than 3

Yelp
This place hit the spot during our visit to London during Notting Hill Carnival. We each ordered something different, and it was all amazing! I opted for the oxtail, which was great, but unfortunately it doesn't come as a meal. I ordered Mac and cheese and cold slaw as the sides and was not disappointed! (4 stars because an oxtail meal would have been amazing!) My group order a large mixed drink to share, and it was great! (I can't remember the name, but it was the one with multiple kinds of rum, curaçao, and pineapple juice) The service was a bit odd that day, but was still amazing nonetheless! Definitely recommend if you love Caribbean food!

Yelp
Let me just start of by saying delicious . I had oxtails and stew beans. One of the best I've ever tasted . I will be returning again and again. Definitely recommend you checking the joint out. The service is efficient and friendly and the ambiance is very warm and comfortable with a nice mix of island music played at a comfortable level conducive for conversation. As far as price and quantity per serving? I was satisfied.

Yelp
2nd time: Back at Cottons time to try out their free rum masterclass (just register yourself as a cottons member its free and gives you access to the free tastings and 25% off food) We had the chance to try Flor de Cana range of rum. This is the n1 rum from and in Nicaragua. They have the best white rum I ever tasted (Im more a dark rum fan). After the tasting we were treated to the new summer menu by the new chef Mark Jackman in order to review it before it goes live this Friday (27 april 18). For starter we an assortment of salt fish fritters (too dry for me), ebony wings (very tasty a must order if you love chicken wings), kidney bean kievs (very good veggie croquettes), king fish escovitch (a bit dry and too many fish), homemade beef patties (nice spices but not enough meat). We waited a while for our mains so we got a round of rum punch while we wait as usual the cocktail was on point! For mains we got to pick out 1 from the menu. I went for spiced duck breast with mash potatoes and a confir duck spring roll and it was gorgeous. A tad overcooked to my taste (in all fairness it stated it was cooked medium but I didnt see the mentione) however even if I usually eat my duck more pink it was just so flavoursum that it actually didnt bother me too much. The mash was very nice too. This is a must order if you're a duck lover! And finally dinner ended with a selection of mango cheesecake (not my fav but Im not a cheesecake person) and a spiced rum profiteroles and this was it for me a very tasty rum raisin ice cream and good profiteroles. If you are not rumed out by dessert time this is a must order!!!! Overall Cottons still maintains its 4 in my books and I will gladly come back!!! 1st time: If you're looking for a nice Carribean restaurant that's not a shack or snacky one then this is the place. Big portions and very tasty food but service is really slow! As starters we had the Ackee and Salt fish cakes and the seared scallops For mains: the meat platter - Jerk baby chicken and Spiced steak. The main thing about Cottons is the flavour and the quality of the produce they use. I would definitely go back even more so with my 50% off food and they have a happy hour from 5-7 on the weekdays

Yelp
Cotton's put the yum in caribbeyum! Everything I tried was so flavoursome and cooked to perfection (although it took a while for the food to come out) and it is not too spicy for those of us who get a bit teary eyed at the mere thought of a scotch bonnet chili. Cotton's in Notting hill actually hold a world record in having the most varieties of rum! You could probably guess that a rum lover like me just can't stay away!!

Yelp
Love the food here, like all their locations. Jerk chicken and ribs are great i tried their festival this time and really enjoyed it. Nice and sweet without being overly oily. Cocktails are fantastic with a heavy emphasis on rum obviously. The venue is nice, really great decor but can be a bit loud at times. Highly recommend going with friends and trying as many dishes as you can!

Yelp
Great Caribbean food & rum coctails in a bar/restaurant just a few minutes walk from Notting Hill Gate station! Cottons is a small chain of Caribbean bars/restaurants in central London that are famous for their huge selection of rums. They even organise rum masterclass sessions each month demonstrating famous rum brands in the market (one of which I attended yesterday & really enjoyed!). Apart from the great rum coctails, the menu has meat/fish/vegeterian dishes of caribbean food with modern twists. Starters, mains as well desserts are just delicious! Great stop for authentic Caribbean atmosphere in central London!

Yelp
I literally think about the food from here often. The Mac and cheese was amazing, the jerk sauce was flavorful and the drinks were perfect. Definitely a great date spot (prepare for a food baby though)

Yelp
It's hard to get me to West London, but a free rum and new menu tasting was a good enough incentive to make my way to Notting Hill on Wednesday night. We started with a tasting of selection of Nicaraguan Flor De Cana rums (aged from 4 to 18 years). It was a fascinating history lesson, not just a story of a brand as these two are incredibly intertwined. The jollies continued with a feast of Caribbean foods. We tested a selection of starters that included king fish escovitch and ebony wings. As a pescatarian I must say the kidney beans kievs were my favourite, while the salt fish was a bit too dry and the other one a bit too smoky. For the main I tried Jamaican ackee & saltfish with fritters, fried dumplings & festival (Caribbean dumpling), boiled green banana and steamed rice. I enjoyed the fish tower and the festival, although I found it a bit too dry. The highlight for me was the dessert! Each of us managed to try every single one on the menu and despite being super full at that point, I managed to scoff all of them! I loved the coconut and mango cheesecake - light and flavoursome. The spiced rum profiteroles were nice, but I didn't taste any rum, which you can't say about the ice-cream which were proper punchy. If you are a rum connoisseur, Cottons Notting Hill is a must. The restaurant found itsself in the book of Guinness World Records for the highest number of rums in the world - 372! If that's not enough, they have a members club that entitles you to various discounts and promotions over the week.

Yelp
1rst time in London and had a great experience at Cottons. Had a few plates and many cocktails at the bar. Cesar (bartender extraordinaire) gave us a guided tour of the huge variety of rums that made our visit special! Highly recommended for a fun night out.
