Great great unique in the way the restaurant is set up. It's busy, loud, and fun. Unusual food menu, however I liked it very much. The menu is super fun. Enjoyed our waitress, super friendly and attentive. Very exciting 1st time visit. Will for sure visit again.

Pet friendly, with bowls for your pups available. The food is delicious but the wait is a bit long. They have great drinks! And my kids love that there’s a park basically connected to it. The entrance to this place is isn’t in the best location and you will easily pass it up if you’re not driving slow enough. A visit often, it’s a nice vibe.

This a great spot for satisfying most of your normal inclinations to get out for a few hours and enjoy some drinks, food, sports, and/or music by yourself or with friends and family. For seating, you have several options to choose from. 1) At the bar in front of several large television screens and an impressive assortment of tap beers and liquor. 2) Inside the bar at tables more conducive for eating and a conversation with your company. 3) Inside a large music hall, sports viewing area which can be opened to the outside in nice weather. And 4) outside on picnic benches which are warmed by fire pits during cooler weather. There is a wonderful selection of pub grub at reasonable prices. It is prepared promptly and prepared perfectly for your order. The proportions are large and yummy. Throughout the week there are several happy hour discounts on drinks on offer. On Wednesday nights they have a very reasonably priced steak dinner which I am going to have to come back and try. I have lived in the Heights for over three years but this was my first time coming across the facility. I have easy driven by this place over a hundred times and never noticed it. It is located on the east side of Shepherd just north of 34th Street (A little north of 610). However, it is situated just beyond the Garden Oaks Shopping Center and is somewhat obscured from view until you get directly beside it. Also you have to access the place from an unnamed road that parallels Shepherd and runs northward from 34 th St. directly in front of the Shopping Center.

Quality of the food is the problem. Crawfish and potatoes were undercooked, sticking to the shell and the potatoes were crunchy. For $8/lb + nickel and diming all the add-ons I’d expect far better quality. The only good thing I can say is the beer and atmosphere were nice.

Not going to lie, we gave this place low expectations just over the menu before making it there....boy were we wrong! If you don't do anything in life, please try Cottonwood out! We had a group of 20+ for a birthday party and even though our area was reserved they had plenty of seating inside and out. The staff is very attentive! The chef Zack was really nice and the food was so fresh and hot. Being the big party we had the food did not take long at all, he even joked about all the potatoes he had to cook for our table lol. We really went through a lot of the menu and I didn't get pictures of everything. If there would be one thing bad I'd say is that you have to walk to the bar to order but that's not a bad draw at all. There was a band setting up before we left so I can imagine the atmosphere being even better during the night. I would definitely come back here when in Houston again!

I had a amazing steak here last week and will be going again this week. It’s got a few areas where they could work on, but the food was great and it’s a very clean place. The people behind the bar could be nicer but they are still doing their job correctly. I enjoyed the atmosphere especially the car event I happen to come across my first time there. Very cool spot. Definitely recommend.

Great place, great atmosphere. Indoor/outdoor. Live band when I was there. Didn't go into the RR. Food was delicious. I got the Bourbon Bacon Burger. The little lady got the Willie Billy Burger. Both were delicious. Staff seemed very friendly.

Would definitely come here again!!! They have an incredible deal on mimosas, crawfish, and other items on the menu. It is family friendly. There were two baby showers being thrown during my visit, and a couple families brought their kiddos. They offer inside and outside seating which was very pleasant. I believe the establishment may be dog friendly as well.

Ambiance: Heights area bar with several seating areas: Covered patio, outdoor patio, & an indoor high top and mixed seating area. Dog friendly! Perfect for hanging out in the evenings or weekends with a group of friends or solo. Huge parking lot onsite (Definitely lock your car & hide belongings because I've seen people get their cars broken into here). Friendly service & really great food! They have different meal deals depending on the day of the week. Decent drink options - a great brunch spot as well! Cottonwood is one of my favorite spots for grabbing a drink with my social club or dogs!

This ain't it! I don't know what else to say, or the steak wasn't it! Sadly I'm disappointed, I was looking forward to it. Staff was nice.

I've been to Cottonwood with friends twice now and enjoyed the experience both times. For my first visit, we went for brunch and were surprised at how crowded it was and how many people had their dogs there - we loved it! The atmosphere is very casual and is nice for just unwinding with some drinks. We grabbed a spot at an outdoor table during brunch and ordered a mimosa carafe. The carafes aren't large so we ended up ordering two but they're on special on Sunday so it was $12 for two carafes. For food, I ordered the Mascarpone French Toast which looked great. I can't say the french toast is an item I'd order again though, it had an odd consistency or texture. The second time I went was for drinks and an app. I ordered the frozen Blood Orange Margarita which I was excited to try. I do with they would ask about the rim though because they automatically put tajin on it which wasn't noted on the menu and I really don't like Tajin. We also ordered the fried okra which is great. All in all, definitely a place I'll go back to with my pup.

It seems to have gone downhill. :( We've been coming to this place for years, with long stretches between visits. We first found it when it played the final episode of Breaking Bad, and we loved the experience of watching the finale while eating from a creative, thoughtful menu and enjoying a range of cocktails and beers. It had been a while between our last visit and this one. The menu has changed. No squirrel references. No deviled eggs. Just very standard bar fare. The wings were decent-to-good, if lacking in carrots and/or celery. At least until we got midway through the (ranch from a bottle?) dip. And then we saw a super gross hair. The mixed drinks were good, though. But I am sad to say we are probably done with this place. It has a lot of potential, and maybe we just came on an off night. But, yuck. :(

Everything was very salty! I feel like I wasted my cheat meal. BOURBON BACON BURGER $15 - [spinach And White Cheddar Cheese Topped With Our House-Made Caramelized Onion And Bourbon Bacon Jam] - bfs burger was good. Bacon jam was sweet/tangy. There is no bacon despite the name. The BFF (beef fat fries) that came with it, however, were super salty. we couldn't even finish them. You could already tell they had too much salt by looking at them. There are enough fries to share though. Chicken fried chicken $14 - Wednesday special. Came with mashed potatoes and green beans. CFC wasn't bad. It was crunchy and ok size (not as big as lubys though). I should've gotten the gravy on the side since it made the chicken less crunchy, and they put too much. Also, both the chicken and gravy were salty. The green beans were the saltiest ever!! The mashed potatoes, however, were great and not salty. 2nd time eating here just bc we live down the street, however I don't think I'll be back for the food. Drinks are better and strong.

So I really liked this place, therefore a friend and I came back on a Sunday around 3:30. Mimosas were $10 even though last time we were there it was $5 all day.. so I was a bit confused by that. We got the same BFF fries, salad & wings. I was disappointed cause the fries came out super cold. We sent them back & then they just weren't as good... chicken was a bit burnt. Just wasn't impressed this time with service. Bummer.

The food was absolutely amazing from here. Elevated comfort dishes like chicken fried steak, bacon wrapped steak, grilled wedge Caesar salad. All of it was extremely delish. The vibe is totally perfect for a date or gathering with friends. There's tons of space. Inside and out. A great spot for a party too! The service was also great but it's more of a self service type of spot which isn't a bad thing. They have to go containers & grab your own utensil bar in the inside and outside so it's great to not have to wait for a server. Overall, I'd highly recommend it for a fun night out. Bonus they have firepit seating outside as well which is awesome!

Came to watch the Astros and Cowboys, also came hungry. Prior to arriving check the menu online and was looking forward to trying it all ( with a friend). The food was very underwhelming. Pretzel bites were fried way too long lost all the flavor and no truffle was on them, the Mac n cheese noodles were over cooked and was served lukewarm, the bbq bourbon burger was good but the fries were lukewarm and limp. The one good item that was goos were the boudin balls and the drinks were delicious. Service was great and the atmosphere is very relaxed.

I really enjoyed this bar! My brother and I visited Cottonwood for the first time because of a Filipinx yoga event, and really enjoyed it. It was a beautiful Sunday afternoon and it was really nice to enjoy the sunshine with some drinks and grub. Their spicy chicken sandwich was huge! It wasn't necessarily spicy by any means, but we really enjoyed the garlicky flavor. Loved the seasoned shoestring fries as well. Their themed specialty cocktails were tasty, but we'd love to come back for $5 mimosa carafes and happy hour specials.

The service just wasn't as good as our previous visit.

What I liked: - Great outdoor patio which is both large and pet friendly. - great selection of craft beers on tap as well as signature drinks made by qualified bartenders - fantastic hangover burger cooked to perfection.

Environment is fine but servers aren't very welcoming/nice. Had one drink made incorrectly and was looked at like I was crazy when I asked. Left shortly after.

It's a very busy restaurant, but food is delicious to service is Great. You'll be hard pressed to find a better time on the weekend

Took our family here today for a nice brunch but was very underwhelmed with the food. Everything came out cold! We were missing items that we had to request for more than once. My daughter ordered the waffles and chicken, and the chicken was very bland, and the waffles were soaked with syrup. My husband got the chicken fried steak very tough and very bland. We ordered the seafood boil but canceled the order after seeing other boils that looked very unappetizing and orders were taking a while to get to the tables. The staff was very nice, but bartenders should not be servers, too. It would be helpful to get proper staff in place so service is up to par and the bar doesn't get overwhelmed. Definitely need some consulting in the kitchen to make food more flavorful. I can definitely recommend someone if you need one. He revamps restaurants all over Houston.

It's mid-eighties in Houston in late February 2023, and this place is a wonderful place for families and their dogs. The band is having children playing old rock toons.

Very nice place , first time being here a place to chill with friends drink and enjoy nice music food was fast and delicious, service was fast and friendly , I will definitely come back here again , weather was hot but hey it's houston can't prevent that ,

Went here for lunch on Saturday. It's a customer only service bar. $6 carafe special on weekends which was my favorite part of the experience. You can read my immediate review on the actual photos. Was really excited about the pork chop. Mashed potatoes and green beans tasted fine. Nothing spectacular. Pork chop tasted phenomenal. However it was just about frozen in the middle and somehow completely overcooked. I assume it was precooked and reheated. Sent it back and it was their last pork chop. Had to settle for Mac and cheese which I had to add crawfish and truffle. I think they left off the truffle. The flavor was not there at all. But Mac and cheese still tasted decent. I wouldn't NOT come back. But bar tender didn't care about providing actual service I guess. Seemed annoyed I asked for it to be taken back.

Not worth the price or the wait. Almost one hour after the others at our table got their orders, and asking 3 different servers where our order was it finally arrived. 2 separate orders of the crab, shrimp and potato for 2 different people brought to us in one bag - on one tray. No apologies just here's your order. Too many other places in the area with the same atmosphere and better food and service.

Tons of parking, super cute aesthetic, and lots of outdoor seating with a big plus of fire pits! The food was pretty good. Came out hot and fresh. The fries were a little soggy but everything else was good. Highly suggest the Boudin balls and crawfish fries. 10/10 will be back soon!

Came here for a dinner during the week, the service and food where fast and good. The location is right near a park so the kids could play. A good option for lade back dinner.

Stopped by this Sunday afternoon to watch the game. There is a posted special listing $6 pitchers of beer. I asked for that. The bartender stated the special ended at 3. It's 6:45p. I ordered two bottles instead. As I walk back to my table I am following a white lady who arrives at her table and begins telling her group that the beer special for $6 ended at 3 but the bartender gave her the special anyway. Guess I should have been white!

This review is for the crawfish. They had a good flavor but several were soggy. Also the corn and potatoes weren't boiled in the crawfish season and were bland, had to add season and butter to it. I had their crawfish several times last, something seems a little off this year.

I have no reason to give this place less than five stars. The service was great, the drinks were good, and they offer $5/lb crawfish during crawfish season (weekends) with sides. On the weekends they also had $5 mimosa carafes (but for $10 they straight up give you a bottle of champagne and a juice of your choice to mix at your table). My friend got one of their margs and it was really good too! They have indoor and outdoor seating, plus it's pet-friendly! I hope to bring my pup next time. The vibe here is certainly different from other bars in that they play a lot of classic rock. Parking situation: on-site

Order at the bar. If you don't mind always standing in line, that's fine. Asked to tip for opening a beer bottle, seriously, I had to do the work. Friendly though so got a tip. Bottled beer- can't go wrong. Decent brunch. Strange and limited menu but what they have is fairly ok. Pretty average place but great atmosphere.

Came for dinner for the first time last night and we loved it! Unbeatable quality of food for a great price - we got the NY strip, boudin balls, Caesar salad and insane Mac n cheese. Only (minor) suggestion would be the Caesar needed more dressing. Otherwise, ample vibes for a chill dinner and watch football.

I love this place. The steak with the green beans is delicious, and my little dog is allowed to sit right beside me while I am there. It is also the home of the best martinis. The atmosphere is positive and the other diners are fun and interesting.

Made a visit this to establishment yesterday base on a friends recommendation. I was extremely disappointed and I'm not sure this is the norm here. But I attempted to order some drinks from the bar. But I left after I stood by the bar for a good 10-15 mins, waiting and hoping for one of the two bartenders can take my order. Granted if the bar was busy, I wouldn't bother writing my first bad review. But there were about 8 customers seated by the bar at the time I got to the bar. There was 4 more customers that approached the bar after me and got serviced immediately. One of the customers kindly pointed my way telling one of the bartenders that I was waiting. The bartender did look at my way immediately and just shrugged his shoulders. I waited for another few minutes then I left.

Have been to this place before and loved every time I've been here, food is great, service is great too, and has a great atmosphere, I can't wait to play my show there on August 13

I used to have a very high opinion of this place till this time when they charged $10 extra on a dish for no reason..daylight robbery, much?! Also didn't get one item that was ordered, and they gave a beef burger instead of chicken to a person who doesn't eat beef. Why would you order a chicken burger otherwise? Anyways... the service sucks, so does the food, and the vibe is loud and stupid. Goodbye and good luck Cottonwood.

My husband and I love coming here for a chill night to grab some drinks and food. A great neighborhood spot that has a strong sense of community whenever you're here. Lots of seating always too. Only complaint is the music. Heavy metal just isn't it.. ever. BUT if you can get past that, come for a great happy hour and tasty bites. We definitely enjoy the routine of cottonwood! Update: Okay came back on the 11/27 and the music was ittttt - chill and upbeat. Get it cottonwood!

Place is a nice little spot food is pretty good. If you are looking for a place to kick it with the boys this isn't a bad stop

I was just there this past Thursday for steak night and happy hour. I was disappointed. I asked for my steak to be cooked rare, it was medium rare, the guy that delivered the steak, a Hispanic Gentleman was rude and threw my plate down at me, the mashed potatoes and green beans were cold. I also had 3 vodka club sodas, well vodka. I ordered the steak at $27, the wings at $15 and my 3 drinks during happy hour and my tab was $75. I asked for an itemized receipt and the guy that checked me out said he couldn't. I emailed the manager because I thought I may have been overcharged because generally, during happy hours for well drinks, it's about $5-7 a drink. I'm a regular at McCormick & Schmidt in Uptown Park and their well vodka at happy hour is $6. Based on that tab, those drinks are roughly $9. I'm a Director of Marketing & Promotions for two well established bar/nightclub and have bartended. The manager responded and said he'd send me an itemized receipt and I never heard from him again. I still tipped well because the prices are not the staffs fault and as a person in the service industry, I believe in tipping but I will never go back. Not to mention the temperature inside was so hot! They had just turned on the AC and it was incredibly uncomfortable.

This bar has great food and good drinks! A hidden gem as you could easily pass it up but it is great for large groups, has a park next to it for kids and lots of indoor and outdoor space. Dogs welcome inside and outside. Some of the bartenders were in training when I went with my group of friends but they did a decent job and were happy to fix drinks. Food was good. Highly recommend their fries and burgers.

I love how cottonwood is outdoors. It makes you feel so safe during covid times. It's kid friendly which is a plus! They also have chicken tenders and fries which the kids ate up. I liked the Buffalo cauliflower bites (sorry not pictured) The steak bites were good, but like I mentioned in the photos- the fries aren't crispy!! I would love a more crispy fry. The queso was really yummy! I would order that. It has meat. The chips were a perfect amount of salt. For drinks. I am super into spicy drinks so I got the Paloma. It could def use some more heat!

I used to love this place: great patio, great menu and dog friendly. But the menu changes are very disappointing, with hardly any vegetarian or vegan options. And not many lighter options. Lots of items fried in beef fat (why), and the green beans are made with chicken stock. Why? These items could be made vegetarian and would taste just as good. We have a lot of vegans and vegetarians in Oak Forest, so this place is missing out on potential sales.

My boyfriend and I went for Wednesday night $15.00 pork chop night. Had 4 beers and 2 shots between us. Our bill was $78.00. Went asked for an itemized statement. They charged us $16.00 for the pork chop and charged us for two extra shots. Check your bill here!

Really nice quaint bar. Drinks are always on point! Suggest making reservations if going in a Friday or Saturday night. Ladies- bring a sweater! It's always cold in here. Out just snuggle up to your date

I went here on Taco Tuesday. They have chicken and beef fajita tacos for $3 each. Each taco came with cilantro and onion and a wonderfully spicy verde salsa. They were well seasoned and nicely sized. The outdoor atmosphere is great. It's not super busy on weeknights but it's dog friendly and kid friendly as well. They have dog bowls and treats if you want to bring your furry friends. They have a great selection of craft beer and wine the vibe is great, staff is courteous and I'll be back soon. I need to come for steak night. I heard it's great.

The atmosphere is great if you want to grab some drinks or also want to order food. Want to bring your dog? Go ahead. Want to bring your kids? That's also a go. Big outdoors, but also has a small inside. They have rotating beers which is always awesome with a good selection of local options. We also really enjoyed their mules. If you want food, personally the winner was the broc-O-flower for us! Never had something like it, and it definitely impressed our table. The chicken was also really good with great breading and tender on the inside. The tots had a great crisp but could have used a little more salt in my opinion. Overall, I don't think you could go wrong with any though. Hopefully I get around to coming back and trying more things.

Awesome kid friendly neighborhood bar with plenty of TVs, shade and artificial turf for the kids. Met the new chef who was very appreciative of us coming out, the food is great not typical bar food, highly recommend the boudin balls, chicken fried steak bites and the dirty Elvis dessert. They had $5 mini pitchers of most beers on a Saturday until 5pm, killer deal. We'll be back next Saturday

Had an early lunch at Cottonwood today. Bartender Kaitlin had a great personality and was very attentive. The food and the drinks were fantastic! Can't beat great service and great drinks!

Cottonwood is a place to go, have few, a bite to eat & chit chat. Very relaxed vibe. For the most part I've had good service experiences here, with a few random days of "I'm not in the mood" waitstaff. But the bartenders always seem to be super friendly & this is over the few years I've dropped in & out. They've got a pretty long list of drafts and cocktails. Beers are always cold. I order food here & there, and for me it's hit or miss; and trust me I'm not expecting upscale cuisine. Plenty of space inside & out. You can also catch some good live bands here too. Great place to be on a nice spring day. Be mindful it's very dog friendly, so if that's not your thing take note. Also IMO its a pretty safe place to be as a female rolling solo. Give it a try if you haven't & are in the area. Yelp on my friends!

Food was slow, but service great. Roberto, Angel, Robert were amazing. Food was great, drinks were amazing, thank you for letting me have a great birthday. You guys were guys were great.
