Wow…. Just wow!! I spoke with someone on the phone named Chesney.. And she had to be one of the rudest people I’ve ever talked to in my whole entire life. Very, very disappointing this is and now I am sick to my stomach. Do better people And please don’t let that rude woman answer the phone anymore.

This little hole in the wall is back in the middle of a small set of houses or businesses (not sure what all of them were). But they say they are the home of the pepperoni roll. The pluses are the bread was very soft and slightly sweet which was a good mix with the spicy of the pepperoni. The negative is that this is basically a bread stick with a few slivers of pepperoni in it.

Older generations of my family lived in Fairmont, my great grandparents were original customers almost 100 years ago. I grew up 400 miles south, and about once a year relatives would bring some down and our family of 5 would split a dozen. Yes, they are basic, but that is what makes them perfect! You can also dress them up with pepper sauce, cheese, etc but I prefer them as is. Excellent bread, and sometimes you get the bonus 3rd stick of pepperoni! I was ecstatic when they started shipping them out, they were such a rare treat growing up and the idea of having a whole dozen or two for myself is amazing lol.

Do not order online and have shipped to you!!! Unfortunately, I didn't read reviews thoroughly before ordering 2 dozen rolls to be shipped to me. Although their website says that they ship out several times a week, it took them over a week to ship my order, even though I ordered on a Saturday so they should have been shipped the following Monday or Tuesday. From the time they shipped (USPS) and I received them a week later, they had mold on them and had to be thrown away. They weren't packed with dry ice or even in a box designed for perishables. When you order online, there are no shipping options. I assumed that given the nature of their product, they would know how best to ship them. I called the bakery three times to speak to the manager/owner (?) and emailed them about this, but he was either on vacation, not there, and never responded to my email. Had I read other reviews before ordering, I would not have ordered from Country Club Bakery and would have ordered Colasessano's rolls instead. I wasted $56 and am extremely disappointed in this business. My husband grew up in Fairmont (on Country Club Rd) and Country Club Bakery rolls were a family favorite. It is too bad that their customer service for their out-of-state pepperoni roll lovers is nonexistent.

The pepperoni roll was good.. their rolls are probably more old school to West Virginia.. I’m not knowledgeable about this but I had better pepperoni rolls in other places in West Virginia… these rolls were still good tho..

My Dad's from Morgantown and we stop here every visit for pepperoni rolls. You gotta make em yourself in Indiana . They were out when we got there at 3 so we ordered 7 dozen for Saturday morning. They had just come out of the oven when we picked them up. We had to skip lunch. Lol

Struck gold! I was reading an article about popular sandwiches from each state in the Country. West Virginia's state sandwich is the pepperoni roll. Invented by an Italian immigrant coal miner who decided to put his pepperoni IN his roll before baking to make it easier to take for his daily lunch. The idea caught on and before he knew it, he started a bakery in Fairmont, WV and was out of the mines. I ordered a dozen rolls. Made fresh on Monday and shipped immediately. They arrived yesterday and made a delicious meal last night. I think we might have the same again tonight. 😊Served with roasted potatoes and peppers and some steamed green beans. Happens to be in the area for a wedding and had to stop in for the best pepperoni rolls in WVA. Wife went to college near by so she was who introduced me to the hand held snack. Definitely bought enough to take home.

My husband is from Mannington, and grew up with the pepperoni rolls from Country Club Bakery. They are the only ones he will eat. I noticed that they had online ordering and will ship. Perfect, I decided to order a dozen to surprise him. That was on January 1st, it is now February 5 and nothing. I have emailed both of the email addresses that I have found, I sent them a message on Facebook and I have called their phone number. Nothing!! I just want my dozen pepperoni rolls ship to me. They sure took my money fast enough, but this lack of communication is unacceptable. It doesn't matter how great the rolls are, if your service stinks, it puts a bad taste in your mouth (pardon the pun)

Same old review, it's great ! Been stopping here for 50 years, everytime I visit have to purchase the pepperoni rolls. Shipping them pepperoni rolls will not break your budget as it is free. They are tasty and filling. Plan to spend $25.00 per dozen. Worth the stop off I-79, route 250 N.

This business has been around as long as Fairmont almost . I really don't know how long but I do know it's been a very long time. With time comes quality and awesomeness! This Italian bakery makes the very best bread's and rolls. They also make the most amazing pepperoni roll! The service is also the very best in town! They been here so they are more like family and the ambiance is truly original! If you're not afraid of falling in love with some great baked goodness then give them a try!

We have heard from very good friends how absolutely wonderful the pepperoni rolls are at this bakery. The gentleman grew up in Fairmont, WV in the 50's and 60's and had childhood memories of these delicious rolls. He and his wife and family traveled back many times to his home place and never failed to stop at this establishment. My friend even started making his own pepperoni rolls for fun and to have what it seems is a taste of home. My wife and I have always craved the actual "original" pepperoni rolls. So on our way from Louisville area to DC. We took a slight detour (maybe 15-20 minutes out of the way) to stop in Fairmont. There is an exit off of I-79 for Fairmont so it's not far off your journey's path. The rolls were as advertised. The bread was fresh and the pepperoni was nicely seasoned. The Country Club Bakery building is very old and you wouldn't even know they were still operating. GPS took us right to it, but it's small and tucked behind a home. So don't miss it!! When we got there they were wiped out of many other offerings. There was a very nice, shy teenager who helped us with our quest for the exclusive Fairmont, WV pepperoni roll. We got a half dozen to go!!

The pepperoni rolls are great always fresh out the oven when I get them I recommend that you try busy little place but they get you in and out

Order process is fairly simple and payment is an easy process. A prompt acknowledgement and receipt arrives within minutes. Five days pass without receiving a notice of shipment. I email them asking for an update for my order, no response, so I email them a second time , no response. Feeling ignored at this point , I called them and the phone just rang and rang with nobody manning the phone line. I would ask for a refund if I could talk to a person in charge.

Country Club Bakery is the original home of the pepperoni roll. It was invented here. These folks know how to make them good because they've been making them for so long. Pepperoni rolls are one of the best kept secrets outside of West Virginia. Country Club Bakery is also one of the best kept secrets outside of West Virginia, but the world needs to hear about Country Club Bakery. The world needs to know, not only the history of this delectable food, this hallmark food of the great Mountain State, it needs to know how incredibly wonderful the taste of a fresh baked pepperoni roll is. If you've never had a pepperoni roll, or if you've never even heard of pepperoni rolls, get yourself to Country Club Bakery in Fairmont and see what you've been missing!

Pepperoni rolls! Fresh, warm, out of the oven! Yummy! Go early! Need I say more? My brother in law requests these, when my sister visits. Also a nice selection of cookies. My elderly neighbor always asks for cookies from Country Club bakeries. Very fresh, good customer service!

Country Club is the home of the pepperoni roll. Now, I know that it's a point of contention for some folks, but as a transplant who is enthusiastic about pepperoni rolls, Country Club has the best rolls outside of my wife's kitchen. More importantly, it's an old fashioned bakery in the Italian tradition. It's truly a joy to go up to the bakery and buy a loaf of bread so fresh that the lady at the counter gives you instructions on how to hold it so it doesn't squish or flatten out. This bakery is a Fairmont institution, and if you're getting your bread and rolls from them, raise a slice. If you're not, raise your standards.

I've been meaning to check out Country Club Bakery for a couple of years now. I'd always beg the hubsters to take me there, but since it was: A) in West Virginia (a reason in itself), and B) a sort of a long drive away, I wasn't too successful. However, an opportunity came where we were driving home for the holidays - it was a slight detour, but I had to jump at the chance! Fairmont is considered the Pepperoni Roll capital of the world, and it all originated at the Country Club Bakery by Giuseppe 'Joseph' Argiro. It's been said that this roll has been around since 1927 and provided as a lunch option for the coal miners. The bakery itself is family-owned and -operated, and they pretty much sell only the rolls - frozen as well as 'fresh' ones. I picked one up, and it was a soft bread roll, filled with about 2 sticks of pepperoni sticks. The bread was supposed to be 'sweeter,' but it just tasted plain. The pepperoni sticks weren't too impressive, as they were just meat sticks. The bread to the stick ratio was off, as it was just way too much bread with too little meat. The staff here were friendly, and we were welcomed right away when we walked in. The bakery itself is small and pretty dark, but it was interesting to see the locals just buy bulks and bulks of this stuff! I'm glad I was able to try this original snack, but wasn't too impressed! +origin of the Pepperoni Roll

I would first and foremost like to thank this great business for their excellent customer service and amazing pepperoni rolls. One of the best pepp rolls I've had. I bought my girlfriend a box and had them shipped to NJ. There happened to be a hurricane that week and shipment was delayed. As we all know, pepp rolls aren't meant to sit around for long, so when they finally arrived, they only lasted a day or two before spoiling. I realized this wasn't their fault and when I went to reorder, they offered to send a new box for free without me even asking. They arrived promptly and we couldn't have been more excited to enjoy them. Thanks again! 5 star pepp roll and service.

Pepperoni rolls started here and continue to be the best. I can remember paying FIFTEEN CENTS for a pepperoni back in the 1950's. We stocked them for golfers at Fox Hill Country Club in Fairmont.

Absolutely delicious pepperoni rolls, bread, rolls, etc! Exceptionally tasty and fresh! I do miss the cookies but they may have returned to offering them since my last visit.

Without a doubt these are the best pepperoni rolls around. Anytime I am in town I always stop in and get some. Often have to ship some to my stepson in MS.....costs about 5x the cost of the rolls

I couldn't give this place one star because I know how important they are to the Fairmont community. However, I did not have a great experience. My husband and I had just moved to West Virginia from Hawai'i. I saw their sign on the side of the road so I decided to go in because I love trying new things and baked goods are a great way to start. I walked in and waited patiently for the lady to help the person there. She was very nice to them. When she was done, she turned to me and asked, "What do you want?" (That really is what she said.) I told her how this was my first time here and I wasn't sure what to get (didn't know about the pepperoni rolls at the time). She just stood there looking at me so I decided to take a look around myself. Well, not knowing what anything was and not wanting to talk to the lady, I decided to leave. I said, "Thank you" and she just watched me as I left. I told myself I probably will not go back there. My husband has told me to try again and maybe it was a bad day. If I have a different experience, I will let you know.

I had never even heard of pepperoni rolls when I received 2 dozen of them along with 2 boxes of assorted cookies as a thank you gift . Holy moly!!!! I may move to West Virginia it was so good. All of it was delicious. All of us in the shop went nuts over the rolls. My favorite cookies were these chocolate cookies stuffed with coconut. That was a total surprise in my mouth. All of it was truly the best thank you gift we have ever received.

Let me give you the story on this amazing place! They are the creator of the pepperoni roll; a delicacy that has delighted West Virginians (and anyone else who has tried one) for years! The pepperoni roll was invented by Giuseppe "Joseph" Argiro here at the Country Club Bakery in Fairmont, West Virginia, in 1927. The rolls originated as a lunch option for the coal miners of north-central West Virginia in the first half of the 20th century. Pepperoni rolls do not need to be refrigerated for storage and could readily be packed for lunch by miners. Pepperoni and other Italian foods became popular in north-central West Virginia in the early 20th century, when the booming mines and railroads attracted many immigrants from Italy. I used to live a couple towns over from Fairmont, and this one food item is what I miss most about West Virginia. (excluding family) When I come back to visit I don't go by and buy one for lunch, I buy dozens and dozens of these delicious treats! Try them toasted with mozzarella cheese and Oliverio's peppers and sauce! That will blow your hair back. This may be my number one favorite snack food ever!

I LOVE this bakery and the people who run it! The BEST raisin cookies, and several others, I have ever eaten. Their pepperoni rolls are the best in the state.

I'm surprised that no one else has reviewed this place, given its role in local culinary history. Country Club Bakery is the originator of the pepperoni roll. They use sticks of flavorful 'roni inside a tender bread that has the slightest crisp of a crust. Areas of the crumb are stained with the yummy orange oil that has oozed out of the meat. Worth trying for 50 cents. I think you can get the roll with toppings like peppers and sauce, but I'm not from around these parts, so I don't know what's what. I also had one of their raisin stuff cookies - is this another local thing? I wouldn't call it a cookie since it's more cake-like and very moist, with a layer of gooey whole raisins in the middle. I'll buy that for a dollar. For the amount of space they have, the offerings look very slim. I presume that they probably sell most of their rolls through other outlets.

There bread and rolls are awesome fresh and great. Low prices i love going there .staff has great attitude and is always nice.

This is where the first Pepperoni Roll was made. If you are driving through Fairmont, it is worth the stop if they are open. Get a fresh baked Pepperoni Roll and a coke. We ended up taking 6 Dozen home with us

OMG !!! The pepperoni rolls are amazing, nice long sticks of pepperoni, lots of pepperoni, did not keep you wanting. Will be my go to place whenever I visit family in WV. They are much better than every where else I have tried, definitely worth the side trip to Fairmont.

This family-owned business makes the best pepperoni roll, always with a generous amount of of pepperoni and always fresh! Their regular sandwich buns are fabulous and low calorie too!!

I can't believe there were only two reviews of Country Club Bakery on Yelp. Whenever I have family visiting from out of town, they always request fresh pepperoni rolls from Country Club Bakery. We even buy them to take on trips. I consider myself spoiled because I live less than a mile from this bakery. You can buy their famous pepperoni rolls in local grocery stores, but nothing compares to stopping at this little bakery and buying a dozen that just came out of the oven. You can also buy loaves of their Italian bread as well as other desserts such as pies. Their raisin filled cookies are incredible. They also carry Oliverio's peppers and sauce that are wonderful baked in the pepperoni rolls with some mozzarella cheese. You should really stop here and support a great business. Try an original West Virginia food that was created for the Italian miners to take to eat in the mines. A dozen pepperoni rolls are $12. Their phone number is 304-363-5690. They ship them anywhere in the U.S. if you need to get a pepperoni roll fix but can't make the trip to Fairmont. They don't have a website but they do have a Facebook page. This is one of the five best places to eat in Fairmont. Don't miss it!
