Where to Drink a Guinness in the Milwaukee Area This Winter | Eater

"Visitors are greeted by the Gaelic words “céad míle fáilte,” or “a hundred thousand welcomes,” at this laidback Irish pub. Drink a pint of Guinness, or enjoy Ireland’s famous stout in 10 specialty taps, including Black Guinness (Guinness and black currant liqueur), Caramel Guinness (Guinness and caramel liqueur), and Irish Black Velvet (Guinness and cider). You can even taste Guinness in the homemade barbecue sauce that tops the pub’s signature pulled pork sandwiches. The Irish comfort fare and pints of Guinness are best enjoyed by the wood-burning fireplace, which gets lit any time the temps drop below 40 degrees." - Jeanette Hurt

I was staying at a nearby hotel and would walk by this location everyday during my trip in Milwaukee. In my last day, I decided to give the pub/ restaurant a go and walked in. Some of the reviews hyped up the Shepard’s Pie dish, and being from Illinois I was delighted to see Spotted Cow on the beer menu. The environment was warm, welcoming, and rather lively and nearly full for dinner having opened like 15-minutes before then! The bar was full, so I was seated at a window overlooking the corner - it was peaceful. The server recommended me a special of chicken pot pie, which I should have selected instead… The Shepard’s Pie was absolutely delicious and a one of the most hearty meals I’ve had, but I also had their Root Soup, so my entire meal was basically soft delicious mush; the crunch of the pot pie is what I desired. All that to say: I’d order the Root Soup and Shepard’s Pie combo again; each has their own distinct flavor. Restaurant service wise, this place is the type you’d take a date to or if you don’t care about how far along the clock has ticked (a.k.a. you may have to wait a moment for your check). Hotel/ inn wise, a cheaper option was available nearby, but I’d be lying if I said I thought about what it would have been like to stay here instead. It’s a neat place! As I was returning to my hotel and before the pub was even open, what I can only assume were guests coming to check in were greeted with such enthusiasm. It may have been family, but considering how homely and friendly this place is, I would think it’s the “front desk” folks greeting their newcomers.

Staff was lovely and food was delicious. We ordered the chicken pot pie and cottage pie and had a cheesecake for desert. Our server was polite and I never ran out of water, but didn't feel like her was hovering at all. The art and atmosphere around was fun and sparked some great conversations about the Brendan voyage, Martin Luther, and other fun topics. 10/10

The room was a great value compared to others in the area. The room was clean, cute, and cozy. The staff at the hotel desk were very friendly and personable, even the person who worked the night shift. My wife and I ate at the restaurant as well. The food was good but the service could use some help. Not rude but just not personable.

We've been to the restaurant at the Clare at least half a dozen times and never had a meal that was less than excellent. If in general you don't order comfort food in restaurants, the Clare is a great place to give it a try! The meatloaf and meat pies are amazing, the gravies and sauces add layers of flavor and interest, and the breads and desserts by Kaden are consistently wonderful. The Mother's Day Brunch is not to be missed. Highly recommend!

Please note: I've never stayed in a room here, but I have eaten and drank here! The positive: the food here is great! The bar list has a good variety of the kinds of beers and whiskeys you'd want at a classic Irish pub, plus good local options too. Plenty of classic pub cocktails. The decor is fun. However... I feel like I go here semi-regularly. I am not a regular, but I drink here with friends a decent amount. I have been reflecting on it, and there are just a lot of nights where I walk away from County Clare feeling... unhappy with the experience. A lot of little things, little anecdotes. I frequently feel really underwhelmed with the service here. Servers and bartenders seem to disappear for extended periods of time at random. Once, I ordered a ginger beer at the bar. I waited nearly half an hour just for someone to bring me a ginger ale instead. My experience at this evening's trivia night (7/29/25) is really what spurred this review, though: We arrived early to get a table because we know trivia can sometimes be busy. We were seated, and there were plenty of tables available around us, but our waitress acted put off when we said we wanted to start with drinks and do some food later. We ended up getting three rounds of drinks each, plus mac and cheese to share. Each time our waitress would come back, she'd ask "have you made up your mind?" The whole experience felt like she didn't want us there, and it was uncomfortable. During trivia, we were told we had to keep the noise level down because the owner was having a private party in one of the rooms next to the dining area. (We walked past on our way in, they were just having dinner in there.) Trivia was fun, but there was an air of "who cares?" Some of the answers were inaccurate and our points were miscounted at the end, but they acted like it was our fault for caring instead of just shrugging it off. If that's the case, why bother playing? I want County Clare to be so much better. I enjoy the drinks and the vibe. Prices are decent and I feel like I end up here a lot, but the service is simply lackluster so much of the time that I'm starting to feel like it isn't worth my coming back. I hope that things improve. I would really like to keep going, but I also want to go out somewhere I know I'm going to have a good time. Right now, County Clare isn't it.

This is our favorite place to stay when we come to Milwaukee. Clean, room is quiet & comfortable, and the staff is professional and friendly. We’ve also had good times at the pub with both good food and live music. And the morning made-to-order omelette is delicious 😊

Google
This is a little hideaway! A chill place to enjoy yourself and relax. I was looking for a local place to getaway overnight just to treat myself and found out about this place based on the amenities I was looking for and I'm so glad I did! The friendly staff and other guests instantly gave me a welcoming vibe so I was comfortable knowing that the reviews I'd read were really spot on! The food was tasty and the portions were generous, I had the Reuben rolls and the chicken strips. I didn't get anything from the bar, but the pub was packed! The room was clean and cozy, the mattress was soft and there were plenty of pillows for a little extra cushion. Having the jet tub was like the cherry on top of a sundae! This was my main reason I had reserved a room, I needed some pampering after closing on my house and becoming a 1st time home owner! My only complaint is the parking lot/area for additional guests, there's not a lot a space and you may have to park a few blocks away, so carpool if more than 2 people are planning on staying. Otherwise this is a great weekend getaway. Brunch was also served, where you can get an omelette made to order along with the other basic continental breakfast items/beverages. I plan on returning during Mother's Day weekend to treat myself once again!

Google
Absolute gem of a place. Great bar and restaurant. Nice “inn” style rooms. Would love to see more inventive and smarter outdoor seating, big city European style. It can handle it and needs it. But can’t miss this place. 100% worth a visit.

Yelp
I loved this place. It's clean, quaint & cozy. The staff is friendly and helpful, and the bar downstairs has good beer & food. It's close to the Hop, so getting downtown is a breeze.

Yelp
County Claire was such a cool place to stay! I enjoyed going down to the restaurant and having some food and drinks. The room was super clean and I look forward to going back!

Yelp
I loved this hotel. It was small but the rooms were spacious and very comfortable. The staff was friendly and very helpful. The restaurant was amazing - we ate there twice. I would stay here again without hesitation.

Yelp
Uh-mazing! The staff were all accommodating and helpful, from the front desk to the bartender to the omelet chefs. The rooms were cozy and comfortable, and the jacuzzi was the best way to wind down after a day in the city. The location was ideal, near the lake and adjacent to the Hop for easy transit after coming in on Amtrak and around town. I could not recommend them more!

Yelp
My Irish husband and I absolutely love County Clare. We've stayed here a few times and have always had a great experience. The rooms are quaint, all of which have whirlpool tubs. There is a nice in-room coffee/tea station. However, it's arranged around the sink, which doesn't leave a lot of room for those who need to do more than brush their teeth. The beds are on the firmer side but very comfortable. The included continental breakfast, served between 8-10 am, includes a made to order omelet station and an assortment of bakery and other items. This is a great place to stay, even if you live in town, for a quick getaway. Especially if you can't make it to Ireland!

Yelp
Everything about our experience was grand! Really appreciated the phone call from staff the week of our visit to let us know that there have been car thefts of certain types of vehicles in the Milwaukee area, and we were even offered a steering wheel theft-deterrent! When we arrived we were created by friendly staff, who reiterated the car theft concerns, and answered other qs we had about the area. Sooo glad we made reservations for the attached Irish restaurant as it was the BEST meal we've had since before Covid!! Rooms was cozy, includes a large tub, as well as a shower. Great area of the city; we did an evening troll to see the Van Gogh immersive experience and enjoyed seeing Milwaukee by moonlight. We'd love to go back!!

Yelp
Cool Irish inn on a hill in Milwaukee. The lobby has green paint with artwork from Ireland. The workers have an Irish accent. The place has a great bar that has British and Irish ales and whiskeys. They also have wine. Had a Guinness and Smithwick beer. On the walls in the bar has some interesting Irish sayings and stained glass about different saints and Irish towns. The room is spacious room with a queen bed, whirl pool tub, a desk, and two chairs. The bed is very comfy. Nice dark wood head board and desk. Simple pattern comforter. Nice, white wood small wall that separates the bed area from the tub and vanity. Good price for the room. The place is close to the Knickerbocker Hotel, Hotel Astor, the lake, Monica's bar, and a few churches. Plus you can drive or walk into the main downtown area of Milwaukee. Great inn that I would love to come back soon!

Yelp
Nice Inn in downtown Milwaukee. When in that area it's where I recommend staying, close to most everything . Service and lodging spot on! Cheers!

Yelp
Good for the price. Parking, brunch, all good. It is a pretty good value and on the weekend it includes brunch in the pub. There are only a couple drawbacks. If another room around you turns on the jacuzzi tub in their room, you have the pleasure of hearing it. The bed is hard... and a bit off the ground. However, you can use the ironing board to vault into the bed if it is too high for you.

Yelp
This isn't a big modern hotel - nor is it meant to be....it's a quaint inn located over an Irish pub. If you enter from the front, you walk through the entrance of the pub back to the check-in desk. The rooms are a good size, clean and tidy, and looks a bit "lived in" - as if you were staying in your aunt's guest room. The bathroom area is separated off and had a jacuzzi tub, (small) shower that had good water pressure, a "water closet" and a sink area (which is also where the coffee maker was located). There isn't exactly a closet, but there is a luggage rack and a bar for hanging your garments (on top of this is an iron and ironing board). The pub was also very clean and warm feeling. Everyone that we encountered at the inn and the pub was friendly and helpful. Best Things: Location! This was by far the best thing about County Clare Inn. The Inn is located with-in waking distance to the lake, shops, restaurants/cafes and many of the events that happen in Milwaukee (Bastille Day was being celebrated the Sunday we were there). The price. Honestly, this place was very reasonably priced given the location and room. At the time we stayed, they offered a promotion for select days of the week which included: a standard queen room, breakfast, parking, and two drinks at the pub. Things to think about: One of the draws of this hotel is that it offers breakfast....and maybe if you stay on the weekend and are able to order from their breakfast menu you'll have a better breakfast experience than I did. But, if you are staying during the week, here is what you should expect: Breakfast is held in the pub. Along the bar there is coffee offered along with hot water and teas. There was also a basket of apples and a selection of 2 (or 3?) cereals. There is also a small refrigerator that held some milk and yogurt. In addition, there is a stand that had bread, English muffins, and bagels. The latter were individually wrapped. Finally, there was a gentleman that would make you eggs/an omelet. Omelet and apple were good. Bagel was stale, and it got tossed. Coffee was okay. So....breakfast was okay, but after seeing some of the other reviews I was expecting a little more -- just setting expectations for you here. The hotel was clean, but around the tub could use a little bleach as there was some "darker" (mold?) spots along the edge. Overall: If you are looking for a streamlined, minimalistic modern hotel - then this isn't your place. But, if you're looking for a friendly, comfortable place to stay in Milwaukee that has a great location and good price -- stay here! Hint/Suggestion: Parking is in the back of the hotel. It is a little tight, and they may ask for your keys if you need to double park in the lot. If you are able, back into your spot. We watched a few cars juggling to get out in the morning.

Yelp
When I lived in Milwaukee, I always wanted to stay at County Clare. I liked visiting the pub that much! So when I heard Weird Al was going to be at Summerfest a few months ago, I booked a room for the boyfriend and myself. It could not have been more perfect--free parking right behind the building, walking distance to the Summerfest grounds, and even free breakfast of the menu in the restaurant! Bummer that there was't time for us to enjoy the whirlpool tub. My only complaints are that the sheets smelled strong of chlorine and the bed made some loud creaks when we get in & out of it. Also, we could hear conversations in the hallway (but there are signs asking people to keep it down, so the inn is doing their part). I would definitely stay here again!

Yelp
Homey, clean rooms, friendly service, and an outstanding location make this our go to place when staying downtown in Milwaukee. But the amenities go on...free parking, an included hearty breakfast (or Sunday brunch), and one of the city's best Irish pubs located right downstairs! Really don't have anything bad to say about it.

Yelp
Our son recommended this place and we finally got the opportunity in Nov. when we attended murder and mayhem in Milwaukee. I asked for a suite and it was on the first floor. The LR could use more light. This had a fridge, later I found out you need to ask for these, so we got lucky. I love how they offer a free breakfast. We couldn't use it because it was daylight savings and didn't want to wait an hour to leave. Sat. morning was a nightmare trying to get out of our parking spot. There is so much activity Friday night and the gal at the desk has to do double duty moving cars around. The lot is very tight but it's there. For all its quirks you'll want to keep coming back.

Yelp
Our stay here was absolutely the getaway needed. We stayed in the king room. The hotel was spotless, the room was so cozy with plenty of space. I loved the decor. The staff was incredibly friendly and accommodating. The bed was comfortable and the continental breakfast was nice. We also enjoyed the bar (with social distancing). They have done a great job making the hotel safe during COVID by individually wrapping all breakfast items, keeping the hotel spotless, and placing a shield at the front desk. We were extremely pleased and I highly recommend if anyone needs a getaway, come to the County Clare as soon as possible.

Yelp
County Clair is an kitschy Irish themed hotel and restaurant located less than a mile from Lake Michigan. While the hotel does have free parking the building is worn and there isn't a lobby. Just a hall that goes by the check in desk. What makes this review a one star is that the we were given a room next to the elevator on the top floor. The air conditioning equipment must be located just above our room because there was a constant rumble that shook the walls. The front desk couldn't move us because the inn was full. So now I'm laying here in bed listening to a constant low frequency rumble accompanied by a intermittent higher pitched wall vibration. I hope my ear plugs work or else it could be a long night.

Yelp
Love love love. The hotel was clean and it's so quaint. It's more like renting a room in a home than a hotel. Large jacuzzi tub, bright and nicely decorated rooms. Very nicely decorated and the stay was comfortable. Friendly and attentive staff. Can't wait to go back, great location!
google avatar

Cheri P.

Yelp
Great location. Private free parking. Sunday romance package includes free drinks at the bar and free breakfast. Each room is clean and comfortable with a two person whirlpool bath. Friendly staff.

Yelp
Sleep in your car. You'll have a better experience. Old, beyond dated decor, and the entire inn has this weird, musty smell. Rooms only have queen beds, the rollaway was like sleeping on a marshmallow, the shower is a pull back plastic curtain, the toilet is in a closet the size of a tin can, and the white sink had cracks/stains near the drain. You hear the band playing downstairs in the pub when you are trying to sleep at 11:00pm on a Saturday night. Oh yeah, and we came back to our room mid-morning to pick up our jackets and our room door WAS OPEN! No hotel staff to be found, except the cleaning cart was outside the door and dust rag was on the table. I think they vanished into thin air! Like I said, sleep in your vehicle either that or another hotel/motel/b&b alternative. The only POSITIVE thing here is that they give you a chocolate chip cookie in a bag when you check in! (and it was delicious!)

Yelp
The stay was good until the morning when I woke up covered in bed bugs bites!! Stay away from this place!

Yelp
The County Clare Inn was centrally located, clean, had jacuzzi tubs, and a great pub downstairs that stayed open late. Sometimes the service at the restaurant could be a bit slow but overall the experience was more than satisfactory. County Clare was a lovely place to stay and very nicely situated in Milwaukee. The prices are remarkable for the experience you're receiving and having the pub downstairs made the visit especially nice as we could bring a pint and snack up to our room as we relaxed before bed. The beds were a bit firmer than I like but there were tons of pillows available, which made me immensely happy. They have a small parking lot but will valet your car if there are no spots when you come in. I've spent a decent amount of time in Ireland and while there were certain aspects of that experience that were absent, the Irish breakfast and other food offerings were great. Also, fantastic Guinness pour and mixes. Thanks for one of the best pints of Guinness and Guinness mixes (like the Vanilla Vodka one or the one with Espresso vodka) that I've had in the US.

Yelp
We've stayed at County Clare 3x during various annual trips to Milwaukee from San Diego and will continue, hopefully soon! Best inn, best food, Best drinks, best bar n best service ever! Love love love the County Clare, It's staff, location, ambiance, prices and highly recommend. Monica n Brad

Yelp
This place is all the reviews say it is. My rating is 4.5, based on some very minor things. The staff were wonderful, and it wouldn't be a big stretch to imagine being in Ireland itself. The full Irish breakfast was superb, but put the brown bread in your pocket for the dog, as it tasted precisely like Milk Bone dog biscuits did in the 1950's. I can attest to this.

Yelp
WOW for stellar online deals. Definitely check out their coupons online before you book a stay here. We paid $90 for the Sunday night Romance Package (whirlpool room), and got some restaurant bonuses with that - a free bottle of wine along with a free dessert with the purchase of 2 entrees and free breakfast in the morning. Upon check-in they gave us 2 cookies - good way to win me over. Good location - close to downtown yet quiet. We were able to walk where we wanted to go (within walking distance to the Lakefront Brewery tours, which was one of our big stops on the trip). And free parking for overnight guests. The room was fine - clean, just enough space, queen-sized bed, nice whirlpool tub. I didn't love the decoration, but that's OK. It had a countryside feel to it. I would definitely stay there again - way better than a Best Western or other random chain hotel. We enjoyed the restaurant well enough, though I don't know if I'd go back to the restaurant alone if I wasn't staying in the hotel. My husband enjoyed the Shepard's Pie and the flourless chocolate cake with raspberry sauce was divine. Be warned, the Bleu Cheese Dumplings are super filling.

Yelp
Charming Irish B&B in the Heart of Milwaukee. Love this place. I've been going back for years and will make this my place to stay when ever its available. The complimentary Bangers & Mash was the perfect breakfast before we hit the road too. They served a locally roasted Valentine Coffee, not the standard hotel coffee I was expecting.

Yelp
The real deal. Great menu of Irish staples. Good beer. Great service, at the bar at least

Yelp
The County Clare is a warm and cozy type of Inn. I was very satisfied with the room, the service, and all the staff. The room was spacious and clean. The hot tub was a great added bonus and the welcome cookies were a nice touch. Our stay included breakfast and I don't mean a wimpy continental breakfast with juice and bread. The breakfast included made to order omelets, home made cinnamon rolls, homemade Irish bread and other traditional breakfast foods. There is a parking lot for hotel guest. I highly recommend the County Clare for a mini getaway.
google avatar

Yelp
What a great little find! This place is adorable. Our room was quite spacious. The semi-separate bedroom and bath space was nice. We appreciated the complimentary brunch on Sunday morning and the free parking. The cookies at check in were a nice touch. The staff was friendly. The place was very quiet, which we thought might not be the case given that it's above a bar. We liked that the location was a little bit away from Water Street and the chaos of downtown. Yet it was still convenient to everything we wanted to see and do while in Milwaukee. The price was also very reasonable. We would stay here again.

Yelp
What a wonderful weekend. A friend bought us a gift certificate to the County Clare and we decided to make a mini-vacation out of it. For $353.00 we enjoyed 3 nights at the County Clare, including breakfast. Although they refer to themselves as an "Inn" they truly have the B&B feel. Each morning we were treated to a wonderful breakfast. The first morning we had eggs benedict, the second french toast and eggs and for the third morning we enjoyed made-to-order omelets. We expected a "continental" breakfast, so we were truly pleasantly surprised. The food was fresh and well-prepared. Our room was comfortably quaint. We LOVED the double whirlpool bath. It's worth staying for that bad boy alone. My only complaint would be the bed. I think it could definitely use an upgrade. It was a bit uncomfortable and would "tip" depending on how we sat on the bed. We checked to make sure it was placed properly on the bed-frame, but I think the mattress was due for replacement. We enjoyed live music on Saturday night. The crowd was lively, but not obnoxious. My boyfriend was thrilled to find Murphy's on tap and enjoyed a few pints. I had the bloody mary (which is apparently a house specialty). For $8 you get quite a selection of bloody accoutrements, including a pickled potato and a beef stick. Unfortunately, the drink was mediocre and the pickled potato was the best part. I would 100% recommend the County Clare for a reasonable weekend getaway. If it wasn't for the uncomfortable bed I would have rated it 5 stars!

Yelp
Our absolute favorite spot to stay in Milwaukee! Clean, quiet, friendly staff. Free breakfast with your stay! Staff always really nice and helpful. Absolutely recommend!

Yelp
I've never stayed in the inn, but the pub is one of my favorite Irish pubs in Milwaukee! It's got a great atmosphere and bartenders who make you feel like family. They can make a mean drink too! Even if you're not sure what to drink, with just a few questions they can make you a fantastic drink that suits your wants! And the food is pretty fantastic as well!

Yelp
Booked a night here for my wifes birthday. We had spent a week in Ireland traveling from pub to pub and staying in rooms above the pub about 20 years ago. We were trying to recapture that wonderful trip for just a night...........and we were not dissappointed! Great pub with some of the friendliest and professional staff I have met in a casual dining place in the US. The food was good traditional fish and chips for a friday and they had Kilkenny crwam on tap! That is a rarity in the states. The room was spacious cute with a large bathtub right up the stairs from the pub. Full Irish bfast in the morning that was satisfying and needed after a night of cream, somw whisky and traditiobal irish music. Recommended as a great weekend place to stay. Will be making morw trips just to stay here as a destination.

Yelp
Amazing service at the County Clare Inn! Reviewing the Inn: the staff are all extremely inviting and sweet! Check-in was great we even got fresh baked cookies as a welcome snack! The room was adorable and very clean. We stayed in the standard room and it was wonderful a nice whirlpool tub to relax in and from what we could here on our way out to eat really good live Irish music! Thanks County Clare for the service we will be back!!

Yelp
This was a nice stay but not as nice as we expected after reading other reviews. Pros: friendly staff, hot tub, free breakfast. Cons: room smelled strongly of cleaning supplies (luckily they let us move to one where we could open the window), coffee maker was stuck into a small space where it overhung the bathroom sink, not very comfortable quilt/pillows, and the weekday breakfast didn't offer as much as I thought- probably would be better on a weekend. No major complaints and very friendly staff, but I expected a nicer room and a more substantial breakfast after reading other's reviews when I booked.

Yelp
Stayed here with family who were part of a wedding party. Nice and cozy with rooms that are like staying in Grandma's guest room; very clean but starting to show a little wear. The pub was fun with great service from everyone and food quality was very good. I'll come again if this is where the group is meeting. Otherwise, I'll opt for trying something else.

Yelp
We loved our room and the staff. I just wish there was a better place for the guests to just sit around and hang out with a beverage that wasn't in their restaurant.

Yelp
We live in Milwaukee and stay at County Clare Inn regularly for get-aways or when we just want to pamper ourselves with the whirlpool and great food. We stay over-night 2-4 times a year. Free guest parking, fantastic menu for food and drinks downstairs in the pub, in suite whirlpool. Walking distance from the beautiful Lakefront and minutes from Downtown and the East Side. We have become such regulars at County Clare that we have decided to book our very small Celtic Wedding there this Spring! They have been incredibly accommodating with all of our arrangements including, private room, catering, dinner service, guest room blocks and allowing us to decorate within their generous guidelines. Not only is County Clare great for dinner plans and overnight stays but they are excellent for your small gatherings!

Yelp
My parents came to visit me from Florida this past spring, and since it was pretty much my mother's sole vacation in a long time, I wanted to plan it well for her. She adores B&Bs, and while I'd never been inside, though I live nearby, I was pretty sure it would be more up her alley than any other nearby hotels. She was more than a little dubious, especially after having visited me in DC and Boston ("A quaint B&B -- in *Milwaukee*? Really, honey?"), but she absolutely fell in love. Staff was friendly and helpful, the room was comfortable and charming, location perfect and prices reasonable; we also really enjoyed the lively atmosphere from the pub downstairs. We did eat there for lunch once or twice for its convenience, and it was perfectly fine, but it's not really the type of food we usually go for, so I have no strong opinion about the pub. Definitely would return/recommend.

Yelp
Always my hotel of choice in Milwaukee, County Clare never fails to provide great rooms with the promise of a fine Irish breakfast in the morning.

Yelp
I'm so pleased we found this place! It was charming, comfortable, and very reasonable (especially if you use their Internet coupons). Free parking, fantastic complimentary breakfast, and very pleasant staff. A great place for a romantic weekend. It's located in a peaceful neighborhood near the lake and within easy walking distance of Wolski's!

Yelp
This is our favorite place to stay when we visit Milwaukee. The jacuzzi tubs and full breakfast make it unique and the decor is gorgeous.

Yelp
I have stayed here a number of times and each has been outstanding. The staff are kind and thoughtful. Complementary breakfast is hearty Irish traditional brunch on the weekends and a made to order omelette bar on weekdays. One downside - the "snug" rooms are exactly that. Fine for one person but any more and it's tight.

Yelp
County Clare is such a great place for a weekend retreat. We are from Chicago, and my husband and I decided to spend our birthdays at the County Clare Inn. They have such great service! We did a Friday special that included drinks at the bar and breakfast from the restaurant. Also there is parking in the back, and it snowed that night and they scraped all of our windows in the morning. The rooms are so charming and it is a great Irish pub below. They have a great selection of beers on tap too, which is very important to my husband and me. I am hoping that we make this an annual tradition, we will definitely be back.

Yelp
We made an impromptu road trip to Milwaukee with no hotel reservation, and we were able to score a room at the Inn. LOVELY! Spacious, clean (and GREEN!) and great jet baths (there is a shower option too). The clerk, a wonderful cheery lass whose name escapes me, was humorous and warm. We'll be back! :)

Yelp
My husband and I had a one night stay on 7/28/2012 and found this hotel to be quite charming. The rooms were clean but dated and felt a bit humid, even with the AC on. There is no privacy when taking a shower or bath!... (thank goodness my kids weren't staying in our room!) The toilet is in a closet opposite the exposed shower stall. Did not care for that set up. The bed was not the most comfortable, and the TV is an old 19inch box. The coffee pot did not work in our room! UGGGH!! Not good after a night of drinking German beer! Location was fine. We walked across the street to the Astor (we had stayed there in the past) and jumped on their shuttle to get us to and from Germanfest. We tipped the driver so we did not take advantage of him... We found the breakfast to be pretty good. Made to order omelets, sausage, potato patties, assorted breads, juices, coffee and teas. Quaint but not impressed.

Yelp
Great food, great people, quaint room, affordable. Reminded me of the hospitality I experienced on an actual vacation to Ireland.
