"Court Deli, like Junior’s in downtown Brooklyn, is a hybrid diner and Jewish deli, and its pastrami, corned beef, and brisket sandwiches are the equal of any in the five boroughs (well, maybe not Katz’s). An everyday special ($16.95) is a half sandwich of any deli meat plus a full bowl of matzoh ball soup. The half sandwich is really just a smaller size of the more-overstuffed full sandwich, and this is a deal worth traveling to Court Deli for even in the absence of a baseball game." - Robert Sietsema

Absolutely nothing to brag about. I ordered the Virginia ham meal and was actually not at all surprised to hear it was not available . I guess the freezer where they keep all their frozen meal's was broken . The place was pretty much empty. Probably because it is one ugly neighborhood .

Google
It was sooo good I forgot to take a picture of my food, this is what’s left lol. I had half of pastrami on rye with mustard. It was good. I could have had a little more meat but that may be because I’m spoiled by KATz. The pastrami was tender and juicy. The French fries were good. They were steak fries. The diner is well lit with natural light. The service was superb. He was fast, courteous, efficient.

Google
Fantastic deli and exactly what we were looking for. We wanted to get some authentic neighborhood Bronx breakfast. Did not disappoint. My corned beef egg sandwich was unbelievable! Amazing breakfast before Yankee Stadium tour.

For many years..my husband and I used to travel from ct. to eat at the Court Deli then shop Arthur Avenue!!!!! The most delicious pastrami sandwich next to Katz’s in Manhattan!! Honestly miss it with all my heart!! Totally recommend it.. the fries are fantastic too! Love from a huge fan..

Google
Food is good overall as well as the service. but it’s just the cleaning. I found rat poo litters all by the window table ledges and it smelled exactly like rat extracts if you put your nose to it. Seriously gotta clean that or do some extermination.

Google
It's cool place to get a quick bite to eat. If you know what's is to your liking. My waitress was great. Didn't have a long wait to be seated. Even tho it was kinda busy. We had a choice of indoor or outdoor. All in all had a good meal mostly, wasn't fond of my potatoes. But everything else was good.

Google
Ordered a Ruben and half the sandwich was inedible. As you can see in the picture almost every bite I had to spit out some fat or gristle. Couldn’t even finish it. Nobody should work that hard to eat a sandwich.

Google
The reason why I voted so poorly is because I took a cab to arrive before it was too late for them to serve. I got there a few minutes before 8 . The server was very nice she told me I still had about 45 minutes which was okay with me but as I’m looking through the menu I heard the workers in the back talking about they are cleaning and they are closing so it made me feel uncomfortable even ordering…. If the time for closing is 9 and they’re still serving why are the workers in the back complaining?…. Overall the food is good here.

Yelp
A splendid place with selections from breakfast to dinner, pasta to breakfast, wings to buckets of beer. The service is fast and friendly, the place is very price friendly, open late , open early in the morning I've been coming in here for many years, I love this place for lunch breakfast or dinner . An old school New York diner the place is classic .

Yelp
Service was fast and efficient! The employees were quick and kind when taking orders! The tables were clean and inviting. The food was great! Hope to continue going back for the same great service!

Keittisha W.

Yelp
I remember their pastrami was the best on this side, close to Yankee Stadium . I was so disappointed with this Half of Pastrami Sandwich. There was no fat on the meat like I love in my sandwich. The meat was a tad chewy. The coleslaw was tasteless, and the pickle was tired like I was walking up the hill after purchasing my lunch. The service could have been better letting me know the pastrami was lean with no fat. I could have ordered the brisket instead. The ambiance was a good day, I guess. People were ready to go to the Yankee game in there, getting their grub on. I'll just save my money and go to Katz Deli again.

Michele V.

Yelp
Super fast service. Apps and food out at same time but still really hot. OG gyro was ridiculously good. Chicken one came deconstructed so wasn't sure why..? Matzo ball soup was bland and needed some more flavor. 1-2 blocks away from Yankee stadium.

Sarita R.

Yelp
Ventured to this spot with my sister, delving into turkey bacon, medium fried eggs (could have cooked a little bit more), breakfast potatoes, whole wheat toast, and coffee. Food Portion was sizable, maybe a bit much. The culinary journey didn't wow me, but it wasn't a disaster either. A satisfactory diner brunch unfolded. The waiter hustled, providing attentive service throughout. Coffee earned its applause. However, the bill, without tips, hit $28--a tad steep from my perspective.

Ant R.

Yelp
Came in here to kill some time before a meeting and was impressed with the service. My decaf coffee was pretty great too! Strong BX vibes (in a good way).

Yelp
Two hours before World Series game 3 - despite expected crowd and chaos had the best deli meal I can remember - Corned beef/pastrami for me , Reuben for my brother. Great service, well presented and didn't rush us. Can't wait to return.

Leticia H.

Yelp
Food was great I had a buffalo wrap and salad but I also get mimosas great , gio was attentive making sure we was good and reorder for us ! We needed it lol the waiter was great too and on point thank god I was hungry

Yelp
I went to have lunch after going to do some local business in 161st in the Bronx . In the back yard of the iconic Yankees stadium. What makes this dile good is there location over looking Bronx court. The ambient is very professional as you rub shoulders with attorneys, clerks and judges. The food is Americana local diner style. The service is as expected for a diner. The prices same as any diner. We ate in the atrium narrow space with floor to ceiling windows overlooking the park and the Bronx Supreme Court.

Sandar S.

Yelp
Me and my colleague decided to have a quick lunch. Pleasantly surprised by the menu which has a lot of variety to choose from. The staffs are very friendly and attentive. We ordered paninis with fries. I would say it is one of the best fries as they are fresh cut potatoes not a mushy ones. Paninis are well made with decent amount of meat and cheese. Had a good lunch.

Yelp
El lugar está muy sucio en el baño está va demasiado sucio había excremento en la tasa y la comida más o menos aparecer todo era lata

Malette M.

Yelp
I went 2 Court Deli today for my replacement Pastrami sandwich on rye with mustard. It was delicious definitely what I was accustomed to. Very pleased with my sandwich. I received a call from the Manager Chris for my refund as well. Definitely will be returning.

Patricia M.

Yelp
The food was horrible and does not meet the menu place on their website. I ordered the 161 Reuben Platter for 18.95, what I was served in a carryout black plastic bowl with plastic top, my sandwich was cut in quarters to cram in the bowl without the thousand island russian dressing. Took pictures of the takeout order and picture of menu on their website. Would like to upload to this site. Call Courthouse Deli on yesterday and this morning manager not available left message for call back still no response from manager.

Bianca A.

Yelp
Appreciate the great customer service, very attentive and organized with staff taking order. Our order was submitted and within 5 minutes we had our food.

Justin V.

Yelp
We stopped at the court deli to eat breakfast for the first time. The service was casual but efficient. The location is on this cute corner in the Bronx; we picked the table on the outside where we can still see 161 park. The food was full, fresh, and delicious! I highly recommend if you want flavor in your meals. I can't wait to come back!! Thank you!

Lydia W.

Yelp
Hi, the owner of Court Deli contacted me and replaced my sandwich. He apologized and all is good. Thank you Chris

Karan L.

Yelp
We stopped by on an evening walk around yankee stadium. They closed at 8:45, but they were nice enough to let us take a seat at 8:30. They expected us to order in one go (understandable since we arrived late) so we quickly ordered a belgium waffle, a vegetable quesadilla, and a side of fries. Service was nice and when they realized the hand sanitizer machine at the front was not working, they brought a bottle over so we can clean our hands. It was also pretty quick, the food came out within 10 minutes and was hot and ready. The food was alright, slightly disappointing. The fries were piping hot but did not have any salt, the quesadilla also was also fresh but needed more flavoring. The belgium waffle was hard and stale to a certain extent. Maybe that individual preference, and maybe we just ordered the wrong items. Service was nice and great but the food was alright. If you are looking for a quick meal for cheap, would recommend, but nothing special. I hope to visit again and hopefully get a better taste when I order something different.

Pamela M.

Yelp
I'm a bit disappointed in the order I placed for delivery. I ordered meatloaf, baked potato, spinach and a side salad. Gravy on the side. I received the meatloaf and baked potato. That was it, no gravy, salad or spinach. I called and though I received an apology what was I suppose to eat? Must do better and the kicker is I called b4 I placed the order via GrubHub.

Karen A.

Yelp
I love stopping by here to pick up sandwiches before a Yankees game. Service is very friendly and the deli sandwiches are stacked high. Pickles and Cole slaw come with them which makes a perfect ballpark meal. You know it is fresh instead of sitting under a heat lamp for god knows how long! Pricing is right on par for good deli quality food.

Bronx C.

Yelp
I usually get good orders from here however today I was left disgusted. I ordered a burger well done and I guess they decided to make the fries well done and my burger uncooked. When I make burgers at home they never look pink like this and this is from a restaurant...So if I get sick I'll update this but I called the store and the man was very rude. I told him I ate half of the burger realized it wasn't cooked and called them immediately! I expressed my concerns about possibly becoming sick and he says "well do you want me to do"...Wow! He was very unapologetic and could care less. I'll never order from here again and called 311. Blessings future customers! Eat at your own risk

Yelp
THE COURT DELI !! My gf and I stopped by for lunch on our way back from a ski trip and what a fantastic way to top off an excellent weekend! Located in the heart of the Bronx, right across from the courthouse and Yankee Stadium, this establishment exudes history, comfort, and a healthy serving of NYC/Bronx attitude. They provide both indoor and outdoor (enclosed seating). It was a beautiful spring day so we were able to sit outside, bask in the sun, and take in all the hustle and bustle of a Monday in the BX. Reminiscent of an old-fashioned diner, which we've actually been meaning to go to for a while, the establishment had ample seating, was clean, and we received top notch service. We were seated as soon as we came in, our waiter was attentive (but not too pushy), and our food came out in the blink of an eye. Speaking of the food!, boy does this place have an extensive menu!, and we heard it used to be twice as large! Being the meat lover that I am, I went with the "161st Reuben," and my gf had fresh strawberry, bananas, and waffle w/ whip cream. I assume she enjoyed hers because she devoured her entire plate before I had even finished half of my sandwich =). Not gonna lie, but I would eat their sandwich every time over what's offered down at Katz deli. Every bite oozed with flavor and was filled with just the right amount of meat. The bread was toasted to perfection, just as the side of fries were crisped exactly how I like it. If I could give a 6th star, I would, solely because the owner of the restaurant, Chris, took the time out of his busy day to stop by and check in on us. What a charming, professional, and entertaining gentlemen! If you're ever in the area, hopefully for a Yankee Game, and not for a court date, I would absolutely recommend stopping by here for a bite. Our only regret is that we didn't have enough room to try out their milkshakes. Definitely looking forward to coming back here in the future =D

Errick T.

Yelp
I live in the area and this is definitely my go to for breakfast, lunch or dinner! The menu is super extensive and delivery is always quick and accurate. I would give it even more stars if I could

Timothy T.

Yelp
While waiting to see a Yankee game about seven of us decided to get some deli before. This place has been around for years and there's good reason why. I ordered a pastrami on rye that came with pickles and homemade slaw. The table also got a bucket of beer to wash it down. The sandwich was very good, the service prompt and friendly and the prices were good considering we are in NY.

Estralda T.

Yelp
The food looks good, tastes good, value is great. Customer service caused the 3 stars. I pass by this spot a few times a year, and it is always reasonably full of patrons regardless of the time of the day. So why not give it a try. Great seating. My battery was dying and I asked for a seat near an outlet - not a problem. And that was as far as the great customer service went. My server not only took a long time to take my order, I got my food long after others who came after me. Then it took forever to get the check. So when I should have been writing about the food and going on about the tasty chicken and well done mashed potatoes (just needed a little salt but that is an individual preference), the customer service detracted from the experience. Perhaps the manager or owner will read this review and do some training.

Linda D.

Yelp
The girl behind the counter had a look of disgust written all over her face. Omg I felt guilty to order. I asked for a combo sandwich of a corn beef/pastrami sandwich. Nope! So then asked for frankfurters "we don't have any". Ok..... so I order 1 pastrami and 1 corn beef sandwich and 1 knish. Well the corn beef was totally dry, and the knish was soggy as yesterday's diapers. What a shame. The pastrami was better then the corn beef, but 35.00 worth?? No.

Stephanie R.

Yelp
The food is amazing, but if you are trying to have a peaceful time at a diner, look elsewhere. The waitresses here give good service but never once do they ask, "How can I get you today?" They just wait until you tell them what you want. On top of that, they are SUPER loud and act like children with each other, hitting each other, making loud noise... ghetto. And one of them, treats the people in the back like garbage. Very unprofessional conduct amongst the waiters/waitresses. But overall, the food is great.

Ed W.

Yelp
This place has been around forever and I finally had the chance to stop in. They have a great menu with tons of options. The servers are really friendly and look after their tables.

Zero L.

Yelp
The server was great, outstanding service. My triple decker turkey sandwich with fries was alright, the turkey was extra dry. The cup with ice to pour my drink in it was dirty I don't think it was safe to drink in it. Overall it's a not too bad spot.

Ashley C.

Yelp
So I am in the Bronx almost every day working at the court house. There really aren't many options for lunch if I am stuck in the area. This place is your typical diner with no frills. It is seat yourself. Has a typical diner menu. The prices are very cheap. I always order the omelette (3 eggs) and it comes with your choice of potatoes and toast. Nothing special but does the job.

Towana H.

Yelp
The salmon croquettes are excellent!! This is one of my favorite spots for breakfast.

Sabrina G.

Yelp
best diner, hands down! I'm a regular here on the weekend and will always be because they never miss and work fast. Do yourself a favor, get some eggs , turkey sausage and fries and leave super satisfied!

Chantal G.

Yelp
Had a pretty good experience here. Corned beef sandwiches were good, but definitely pretty fatty. Good pickles cole slaw, etc. Our waitress was a real sweetheart and took care of us quickly. Only complaint is that the place is chaotic...staff doesn't speak to each other, they yell at each other across the restaurant . Not angrily, but just to communicate. Between that and the music, it's not exactly a relaxing experience. Really expensive too, but thats all around. I'd return.

Gabe R.

Yelp
Excellent old-fashioned little diner! Their roast beef triple-decker was excellent, as were the onion rings! Service was very prompt and punctual. Will definitely go again and try some of their other options.

Katie F.

Yelp
I ate here before a Yankees game because it was the only restaurant open. The service was just okay, but they were very busy. The food was okay at best. The eggs and French fries were dry and bland. I guess the perk of eating here is the convenience and proximity to Yankee stadium, but I wouldn't go out of my way to eat here otherwise.

Tina C.

Yelp
Lunch in Bronx's Concourse was mediocre. As I was consuming my Virginia Ham with Swiss cheese sandwich with one pickle and coleslaw $7.95 a panhandler walked in standing by my table begging for money. He walked back and forth within the dinning area scouring for change disturbing numerous paying patrons. This diner does not have a hostess nor maître d' but a visible sign "please seat yourself" policy. Obviously, there is no regard for customer service or patrons' safety. Inattentive service as there were no staff to quell this panhandler away from my presence or out of this diner. I was famished and quickly engulfed my meal for a fast exit to avoid this nuisance. Staff is nearly non-existent to flag for my bill. Note: Patrons pay the bill at the cashier counter.

George T.

Yelp
FYI: Review on just the pastrami/corned beef sandwich. Haven't tried anything else yet Possibly a 3.5... Not Katz, but not bad at all for the price. Giant portions with copious amount of meat, Meat is juicy, savory, complex, fatty and lean portions. Rye bread and mustard are decent. Comes with a bag of pickles and some coleslaw which are nothing to brag about. I also hear the fries which are more like potato wedges are good. Overall: with limited options, this just may be the best pastrami/corned beef in the area. Will have to explore further....

Sam C.

Yelp
my friend said he knew the best place to go to before a yankee game and he wasn't wrong, this deli is right across the street from the stadium and when we went on a sunday before the game it was busy but they were managing it well. the restaurant itself looked clean but run down, probably because they get so many patrons. it took about 10 mins for me and my friends food to come out and the Grilled Chicken BLT was amazing. they have a restaurant side and a walk up deli side which was cool. Will definitely come back next time i'm going to a yankees game!

Lilla M.

Yelp
My mother and I are getting our apartment renovated and we decided to order from Court Deli and all I have to say is you guys must order from here!!! The food was great and the service was amazing!!!! Highly recommend from now on I'll only order from here!

Matt J.

Yelp
Straightforward diner across the street from the Bronx civil courthouse. Popular with lawyers, jurors and cops - as well as baseball fans on game days - they churn out decent food quickly. I had the corned beef on rye. It came out in under two minutes at lunch rush and was piled high - some would say too high but this is NY - and was tasty. Note that portions in general are large.

Alan A.

Yelp
I have been going to the Court Deli since I grew up four blocks away in the 1950's. The deli has been there since 1936. I remember my dad walking over on a Sunday for our weekly fix of pastrami and corned beef. I moved away in 1960 but whenever we go to a Yankees game and are in the mood for some deli we'll stop in before the game to take out some sandwiches to take with us. Nothing like a fresh corned beef on rye while watching the Yankees play. The food is still as good as ever and the counter help are quick, attentive and courteous. Just writing this has put me in the mood for some deli. Glad I have one of the best in NYC a few blocks from my place in Queens. But when in the Bronx the Court Deli is the place to go if you're near the stadium.

Gregory C.

Yelp
I've been back a few times since my explosive visit in 2012, and this place is back in my good graces as an option for a pre game meal before a Yankees game. Stopped in here Saturday for breakfast before the 100pm game. Had the Deli Omelet with grits and my better half had a BLT. No complaints.

Andrew P.

Yelp
Ever since I started going to Yankee Stadium from a young age, it has been tradition that me and my family go to the court deli for lunch/breakfast before the game. We had always enjoyed ourselves there and it was a great start to our trip! Unfortunately, due to COVID, i haven't been to the court deli nor Yankee Stadium in almost two years. But now with Yankee games back on my schedule, that means the court deli is back on my schedule as well. The court deli is always packed and super busy, and with COVID, the place was packed, but very well controlled. Every table was socially distanced, after customers got up to leave, the employees got onto cleaning up the table right away so that new customers could be seated as soon as possible. Before I was seated, they took my temperature and had me record my information for exposure reasons, which I respect. The employees were hardworking, fast, and made sure their customers were satisfied! They were back and forth from the kitchen, on top of it all. The food came out quickly, and I'm sure everyone else's did too. At the table, there was little containers of salt, pepper, sugar, and ketchup packets. I thought this was very cool. It had all the accessories you need to satisfy your meal! For my lunch, I ordered the pastrami sandwich with Swiss cheese, spicy brown mustard on the side, and French fries. The meal also comes with cole slaw and a pickle, but I had my eyes on the prize and did not even touch it. My father said it was good though. Anyways, this meal was absolutely outstanding! There was a mind-blowing meat overload! The juiciness of that fresh cut was immaculate and it was cooked to a perfection! The spicy brown mustard, which came in packets, and the the double layers of Swiss on each half were delicious and had amazing taste to the meat and bread. Now the rye bread was on another level. It was fresh, held the meat together, and absorbed some of that juiciness from the meat. Also, there was some pieces of fat which I was all over. This sandwich was a grand slam! And as for the French fries. Soft, thick, and a little crunch is all you need for a French fry. That was a home run! Today's experience at the court deli was one to remember, and I can't wait to be back!

Andrea G.

Yelp
Came here this morning for breakfast and I was shocked to see a sign that says "Please seat yourself". The place was pretty packed but my group of 4 got a table within 5 minutes. The person who took our drink order was not the same who took our food order. The drinks came out quick, two coffees, orange juice and a cranberry juice. After about 10 minutes no waitress had taken our order yet. We asked the guy who took our drink order where the waitress was. She finally came over and told us she didn't know it was her table. She took our food order and it came out pretty quickly. I had asked her for water but 15 minutes later still no water. After asking 2 more times, waters were brought for the whole table. My friend got the italian omelette which consisted of eggs, mozzarella cheeses, peppers and onions, which he said needed salt and ketchup because it was bland. My other 2 friends shared 3 eggs, sausage and home fries which they seem to like. I had an order of pancakes with two sunnyside eggs. My pancakes were really good. I probably wouldn't come back here when there are so many other places to try out.

Yelp
For three weeks I've been coming to get hot dogs And for three weeks they're out of them Claim distributor has not sent any,im sure there's A distributor other than the one he uses to get hot dogs New ownership place not the same, I give it one star because waitresses are very nice To customers Very sad used to be a real nice place for lunch When you leave court Owner chris send me a message to forgive the Restaurant and to come by and have Hot dogs on house Chris your a gentleman, thank you Sarah and the rest of your wait staff had a good laugh Thank you

Saida R.

Yelp
Disgusted. First off, I received the wrong fries but failed to notice as I was involved in a call and had a long morning. I started to eat, the fries were fine. Having started on one of my other sliders I SEE the mold on the bread! Appalling. I ask someone for a manager.... The waiter just went and grabbed a fellow waiter - waitress. She asked what was wrong, I asked for a manager. The woman replied saying that the manager had stepped out - rather IRONIC. How funny is it that they stalled to only say that the manager was nowhere to be found. The waitress then asked if I wanted something ELSE - ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! Wow. It took every fiber in my being to not get loud, can't even enjoy a lunch. Who is checking the food quality here? Ridiculous. She said "it's okay if you won't want to pay for it" No kidding captain obvious. I walked out, disgusted never again. Am spreading the word. How unbelievably unsanitary and unprofessional.

Amanda B.

Yelp
Let me say, I was very impressed. Stopped by before a yankee game with my husband and let me tell you the service was great! Leyiska was a Very kind and respectful waitress. The food was amazing very good portions couldn't even finish my plate! Lol it was so good though, the pastrami sandwiches was the best overstuffed and just like Katz's maybe better . Will be stopping by often really enjoyed it thank you!

Desiree Joy F.

Yelp
Note: I have been eating here since 1996, so my review may be tainted by childhood nostalgia. This is my favorite diner on the face of the planet. Giant fluffy waffles, crispy bacon, pastrami sandwiches so big you could play a game of rugby with it, wait staff that has pretty much become part of my extended family. Atmosphere - Well lit, tables are always clean, plenty of space for both take out and dine in. Staff - Staff is always polite and courteous and if you become a regular they get to know you like friends. Food - Its a New York deli. There are ten pages of menu items. You can literally eat anything you want. But you know, get a knish and a Dr. Brown's. Value - Their breakfast specials are bananas. You're looking at $7 for Pancakes + eggs + bacon + sausage + ham + juice + coffee/tea [with free refills of course] Suggested dishes: Is it before 11am? Turn to the back of the menu for 30 breakfast specials including omelets and the works. Is it lunch time? Shove your face into a pound of pastrami or tongue. Is it dinner time? A bucket of beers and their amazing burger deluxe should get you ready for first pitch.

Yelp
Was heading to the Yankee game. This place was the meeting place for our pre-game meal. It's a few blocks from the stadium and an easy walk. There are about 20 tables. No hostess, simply grab a table There's a pretty large menu but I was there for the pastrami sandwich on rye. Obviously, there were plenty of other deli options. They do serve beer but not a lot of choices We didn't have to wait long for a waiter. He took our order. The sandwiches and beer followed very quickly. The rye bread was fresh and the pastrami was hot. You were also given a serving of cole slaw and a pickle. I could have ordered lean pastrami but it might have lacked flavor. This pastrami was not lean but not over abundantly fatty. The cole slaw was ok and the pickle was crunchy. A third friend joined us and he quickly received his dinner. The restaurant was not crowded but nonetheless the food came out quickly. The wait staff checked on us frequently. Even with our late addition we still got to the stadium in time for the first pitch.

Lenny K.

Yelp
The place has been both a Courthouse and Yankee Stadium tradition for years. The food is good. Service is efficient if not particularly warm. Prices are reasonable. Every once in awhile there is someone known to the public whether it be a politician, lawyer, defendant or former Yankee player. There was no offer of a refill on our coffee nor did anyone check on how our food came out.
