Coyote Bluff boasts an impressive variety of burgers, but Adam Richman comes here for The Burger From Hell. The devil himself might have a tough time taking the heat!

We stopped in on our way to ABQ from STL. I can totally recommend the Green Chili Burger, the fries and the onion rings. My son loved his Burger from Hell, but I did have to make a midnight run to a convenience store to get him some Tums. He said it was worth it though. Really felt like Texas and not a tourist trap feeling at all. Plenty of locals having dinner there with us.

Rustic Roadhouse--Steak was delicious 12oz. ribeye...but the fries were greasy. Staff pleasant, drinks cold, overall ok...could have been better if steak was sent out exactly as ordered...it was delicious but 2 shades lighter than preferred.

Grumbly Tumbleweed

Google
I have to give this place 5 stars... but only because 6, 10, 50, or 100 stars are not available options. Chicken tenders are delicious and come with the best gravy ever and also a salad and fries. Next time I'm in Amarillo, I'll definitely come back. (The decor is cool too.)

Google
It was a small hole in the wall resteraunt. Don't let the building size fool you. I had the bacon and cheese grilled chicken sandwich. It was a large portion size. It tasted wonderful. The service there was wonderful as well. .

Google
The burgers are so freaking delicious, it has been ages since I have had such a good burger. Waitstaff were so nice and kind and atmosphere is very homey and cozy. We will be back!

Google
A great little hole in the wall place. Very tight spaces, so if there is a wait, you will be doing that outside. The food was excellent to us. The service was impressive! Tip well cause they very much earn it. Will definitely go back when in the area!

Marie Fortier

Google
Martin at Texas air and space museum recommended this place for lunch and it was PERFECT. Burgers were delicious and filling. We split the 1/2 and 1/2 basket which was very tasty.

Google
There has been a rumor going around in the Lubbock area that Coyote Bluff Cafe is a good place to eat if you want a good burger. Well, it's confirmed. Not just good - but GREAT burgers. The burger meat seasoning is fantastic! I especially like the Primal Plate with grilled onions & mushrooms. As a side note: The bathroom is the smallest in world. Should win a "Tiny 'Out' House" award! ;-)

Yelp
My husband and I both had the burger from hell. They were hot, but not so hot that you could not taste all the flavors of the burger. Was excellent. The decor on the inside and outside is very nostalgic. The service was incredible. Highly recommend.

Yelp
My daughter insisted we stop on here during our way thru Amarillo- so we dropped by today right after they opened. When you walk in, If they have a table available, they will direct you to it, otherwise they will take your last name and tell you to go back outside and wait until they call your name. The menu is fairly straightforward so orders turned around pretty quick and it was a maximum of 20 to 25 minute wait to turn a table. My husband ordered the Hell burger which had the hot sauce on it and I had a grilled chicken sandwich. Both were absolutely fantastic as well as the shoestring fries were very good! Hubs really liked that his burger had a ton of peppers on it as well as the hot sauce so he felt like he was getting his daily vegetable allotment, lol! The service was actually pretty quick again, I believe this is because the menu was super simple and they had a ton of regulars coming in. You can also order to go if you don't want to wait as several people did, and my understanding is the packaging is fantastic so just as good as if you were sitting in the restaurant. The place is super small and there are tons of stuff on the wall so it's an interesting place. Service was friendly and efficient and now we can check this one off our checklist that we have been here when driving through Amarillo!

Yelp
Tiny little place with the most wonderful food! The burgers are probably the best we have ever had, and the steak- omg- melt in your mouth fantastic! The service is always phenomenal, especially considering there are only two ladies working and working quickly! Right in the middle of the restaurant is an old claw foot bathtub full of Ice and beer. WORD TO THE WISE.....this is a VERY small place!! You are going to have to wait, but it is only 15-20 min. If you don't want to wait, get there as soon as they open. Either way, you won't be sorry!!

Yelp
Hooooooowl, yip-yip, hooowl! That's coyote for, "BEST BURGER ALERT! Fun Fact: Just how we use Yelp to communicate to other foodies where they best food in town is, coyotes use a series of howls and yips to communicate with one another. All coyote talk aside, this spot is where to go for a burger. They dish out half pound patties of all styles: Old Fashion, Old Fashion Cheese, Hickory, Dijon Swiss, Hickery, Blue Cheese, Green Chili, Chili, Mushroom Swiss, etc. There's quite the selection if you ask me! My husband and I did the Hickory Burger, add Bacon because that's the move for 90s kids who grew up with Carl's Jr. and In-N-Out. It had tangy bbq sauce, lettuce, tomato, pickles, grilled onions and cheese. Basically, it was like a Double Double met a Bacon Western Cheeseburger. The burger was plump, juicy and howling with flavor! Of course, you can't bluff that the service and ambiance doesn't also make your visit. Our waitress had classic southern charm about her. She made us feel like a local, even though it was our first time. Super sweet woman! The ambiance was everything a burger joint should be. It had a dollar bill wall of customers who had visited and the menu chalked up on a blackboard. It was nothing fancy, just a real down-to-earth fun vibe. Going back? YIIIIIIIIP, that's... "hands down" in Coyote.

Yelp
What a great local burger spot just off i40! We came here at the suggestion of a friend and I will say.... Sooo good! Don't let the outside scare you away. It might look like a flea market meets condemned building but the inside is cozy and unique! As we waited for our food I noticed locals walk in, sit and their beer or drink was in front of them with only a greeting, "how you doing this evening, I was waiting for you to come in". This sound was a signal this spot was going to be great. Our crew ordered burgers, basket of fries and onion rings to share. The fries and onion rings are great.... Make sure to get some ranch... perfect thick and homemade! The burgers are thick juicy (not greasy.... But JUICY)!! The spice on the hell burger was insane and packed full of flavor. I had a the original burger with grilled jalapeños. The spice on those suckers was no joke but so worth the burn on the lips. Others had the bacon burger and hickory burger. We all finished our burgers and walked away stuffed. The price was great for this family of 5, especially after a long day of driving. If they are full or you need to get back on the road call ahead and get your burger to go. We will for sure be visiting again the next time we travel through Amarillo!

Andy A.

Yelp
Burger from Hell is absolutely AWESOME! It needed some more heat for me, I'd get extra jalapeños in the future, but the burger was AMAZING! & the large order of cheese fries are also AMAZING! Plenty of fries for 3 or 4 people, & delicious! Service was incredible, & the decor is awesome as well. I highly recommend stopping here if you running through Amarillo, I'll be back for sure!

Yelp
Cheese fries were chefs kiss! First time was great! Everyone was so nice. The cheese fries in the picture are small and can be shareable!

Yelp
YAHOO what a fantastic find. A small off the main road eatery that is known for its burgers. The Coyote Bluff Cafe in Amarillo, made famous by Dinners, Drive-ins and Dives, delivered on its reputation with a great burger and other tasty offerings, but cleanliness may not have been a priority based on the establishment's appearance.

Yelp
Can I give more than 5*? Amazing burger we got the bacon cheese burger. I added green chiles to mine my husband got mushrooms w his. Amazing! Cooked to perfection! We shared the green Chile cheese fries. Definitely fresh cut fries. Served w ranch. Too much food. There is a bath tub full of beer on ice. It's definitely quirky but memorable. The service was top notch. Very friendly and fast. The bathroom was very small. But how much room do you really need. It was a little hard to find in the dark but worth a visit while in Texas!!

Yelp
So, I'm not good enough to order over the phone but my husband is? I called to place a to-go order because we were craving our fav burger joint (btw 3 min from home, too). The phone was answered but she said give me a minute, the phone was placed on the counter (I could hear people talking, baby fussing, etc) at 10 min & 37 sec, I was hung up on (no hello, how can I help you - just hung up on). I call back and am told, very curtly, order online, we're too busy. Then my husband calls 30 seconds later and the girl who answered took his order??? Really? 30 seconds later you're not too busy to take an order? Disrespected because I am a woman? Coyote Bluff used to be our go to - now I know why we have moved on - the service has deteriorated with the new ownership. Why even answer? Why not have a recording that say go to the website to order? Why was I treated differently than my husband? It will definitely be a very long time before we are back. To think, when I talk to people who are coming to Amarillo or are visiting I always tell them they have to visit Coyote Bluff. I'm pretty sure it'll be a long time before I say that again. I'm also really sure it'll be a long time before we visit again. There are too many places in town to eat that would appreciate our business.

Yelp
Amazing food good service, good quantity everything was good overall honestly thank you !!!!!

Yelp
After eating here, we are planning our trip home in two weeks to include this place!! I will be dreaming of this cheese burger (with grilled jalapeños on onion bun) until then! And the 1/2 and 1/2 basket, oh my!

Shaun P.

Yelp
The food is great. We stop by every time we go visit our daughter in New Mexico. The service is always excellent. The food is made to order and piping hot when you get it.

Yelp
Best burger in Amarillo, Tx! Stop playing games! Get your ass over there now! I would recommend this place in the highest degree to anyone coming in from out of town and looking for an all American place to eat! Carrie is the best!
google avatar

Scott D.

Yelp
Not much has changed since we first came here and it is still a great selection. No longer a rarity to be open late in Amarillo, but still well worth a visit any time! The green chili cheeseburger is my favorite.

Yelp
We were in town for a business conference, and wanted to give it a try, I had heard about the Burger from Hell, which is a burger topped with a full cup of jalapeños. I have to say it is one of the best hamburger I have ever ate. Yes it is hot really hot. My burger can with fresh vegetables are chopped every day, buns come from a local bakery and a half pound of expertly seasoned beef with Fresh sauteed jalapenos, Coyote Hell Sauce, Tabasco, cheese, lettuce, tomato and grilled onions. Add the chili cheese fries and it is an amazing culinary delight. My wife opted for the less mess Mushroom & Swiss topped with fresh mushrooms, Swiss cheese, lettuce, tomato and grilled onions. With a good selection of import and premium beer as well this is a must visit. The service was amazing as well, despite the influx of people . It doe have kind of a 1950s dinner/cafe feel and that staff were very inventing in a relaxed atmosphere.

Yelp
As we were driving back from Avon/Beaver Creek, Colorado to Dallas, Texas, I looked at 'Texas Highway' magazine onine for restaurants in Amarillo, and I saw this Coyote Bluff Cafe recommended. Perfect timing and stop for dinner. We got there at 5:30. Their dinner hour are 5-10pm. Great food, service. Love the atmosphere. I strongly recommend this restaurant for a good burger, fries and beer.

Yelp
On a road trip and stopped by for gas and realized I hadn't ate and one of thr locals told me about this place. Definitely a spot that you won't be disappointed. Great tasting food!
google avatar

Yelp
Excellent chai latte, We also had the chipotle chicken panini, and the chicken pesto panini. They were very good. We will be back.

Nicole F.

Yelp
Really great food and speedy service. My kids said it was the best burger they've eaten. They loved the cat outside while we waited for our table. Best suited for parties of 5 or less.
google avatar

Yelp
As the old story goes, never judge a book by its cover or in this case a place to eat based on its exterior. We are on a road trip and it was time to stop for dinner. We wanted something off the interstate, but not fast food and not taking a long time to since we still had miles to drive. My husband wasn't so sure about my selection when he pulled into the parking lot. I think he was going to turn around, until he saw the various cars, pick up trucks, local and out of state plates. It's divey looking, but fun decor, nice staff and large portions of yummy burgers & cheesy fries! You could tell there were regulars and visitors and a steady turnover of customers. The reviews were spot on and glad we chose Coyote Bluff Cafe for our stop. We even thought it might be on our stop on our way back home at the end of our trip. Our Golden agreed this was an awesome burger even before his 1st bite. Usually very polite & patient, but this time was a little impatient with us taking our time to serve him.

Yelp
Coyote Bluff Cafe is a family food tradition when we drive through Amarillo. The food is excellent. You must get the Hell burger. It is outstanding!! The service is wonderful - friendly folks! the atmosphere is without comparison. A real Classic !

Another DDD off the list amazing burgers and great atmosphere not fancy but you should know that going in

Yelp
Good food and good service. If you are doing a meal stop in Amarillo, thus is the place to dine at.
google avatar

Yelp
Best place in Amarillo for a burger. Trust me on this, I'm craving one right now! Also, service is fast and friendly. Stays busy but you'll get a seat soon.
google avatar

Yelp
Driving from Nashville to Las Vegas and stopped here for dinner, trying to find something quick and fulfilling. The worst part about this meal was having to listen to the person I was eating with remind me every 10 seconds that this was one of the best burgers he's had in years (Though he wasn't wrong, everything was amazing.) We will recommend this place to everyone we talk to who's traveling through Amarillo.
google avatar

Misty J.

Yelp
If you want to eat a juicy unhealthy burger this is the page to do it. Great burger. Great French fries! It's a ole in the wall but I have found those are the best restaurants anyway. Service was great one we were seated.
google avatar

Shay H.

Yelp
I've never once been disappointed here. The staff is fantastic, the food is ON POINT, and well the atmosphere is just my style. I love that it's small
google avatar

Yelp
Hole in the wall! Awesome food awesome service. Great vibe. They have beer too. Literally on the side of the road.
google avatar

David B.

Yelp
We love this place. Started stopping here on our way through to Colorado. Great Burgers, especially with Green Chili. Our party of four was fighting over the Green Chili Cheese fries. Friendly staff. Little bitty, super casual place. If you go through Amarillo you should stop in
google avatar

Brandon F.

Yelp
This is different place & worth going even if you have to wait a bit. Go check it out the bathroom while you're there. And, good food too!
google avatar

Carla H.

Yelp
Amazing lunch - burger and fries were perfect! Hand cut fries were crispy and fresh! Bacon cheeseburger was juicy and flavorful!! Amazing customer service with speedy turnaround from time of order until we were digging into our burgers!!!

Yelp
Stopped here for dinner during our road trip to NM. It's a quaint little restaurant. I ordered the burger from hell and hubby got the hickory burger. We also got a basket of 1/2 onion rings & fries to share. Service was prompt and friendly, our food was served fairly quickly. We both really enjoyed our burgers. The onion rings were good and the fries were just okay. Overall, it's a good experience. We will probably come back the next time we pass through Amarillo.

Yelp
I am on a 3D get away. In Amarillo I came here! You would never come here thinking fancy and it does not have to be. Omg this place is so great! The atmosphere is just laid back but everyone is welcome! Old rock is playing and no tv so you can enjoy speaking to people. This place reminds me of something you find in a little town. As soon as I sat, they came over took my order and treated me like . A long known friend. Ordered the green chili cheese burger with fries. I didn't think it would be as good as what I get in NM, but I was so wrong! The burger when I took the first bite was so juicy. Wow! I don't know if they add any spice to the burger but it was great! You get grilled onions, a yellow onion pepper, freshly cut tomatoes. Yes I said freshly cut tomatoes! The onion bun is soft with a slight crunch from being grilled... yup yummy. The fries are home made and cooked to perfection. I enjoyed every bite. Come here, enjoy the experience and the food!!
google avatar

Victor S.

Yelp
Had a great burger with friendly service. Rustic but clean place. Pleasant and welcoming atmosphere. Will try to come again when in the area.
google avatar

Jason L.

Yelp
It's not the prettiest place you can find to eat but the food is really good and the service is excellent

Beth C.

Yelp
We have only eaten breakfast here several times. The food is delicious. It has been consistently good with large portions. This is a "order at the bar before sitting down " place, so service adequate. The dining area is clean and well maintained.
google avatar

K C.

Yelp
Yeah, no! These reviews make no sense. The burger was gross and the fried pickles were gummy with no dill. The bathroom was so close to our table and someone stunk it up. Just disgusting . This place is unique and the waitress was amazing at getting the food in and out but the food was just not good at all. None of us liked it or finished any of it. Hamburger was almost $12 and there was Nothing worth $12. Over hyped and overpriced.
google avatar

Sandy S.

Yelp
Despite being a little diner, they have huge hamburgers that are delicious. I had the best chili cheese fries I've ever had. The chili was very flavorful and there was plenty of cheese on them. We were very pleased with everything. The server was very nice and accommodating! I highly recommend this place.
google avatar

Gregg F.

Yelp
Fantastic food, cool vibe. Great experience on our way just passing through town. A must try
google avatar

Dmitry V.

Yelp
Regrettable experience. Ribeye steak was over salted and under seasoned. I asked medium rare, it came well done/borderline overcooked. Salad had no flavor - just a bowl of shredded paper - chef clearly using cheapest greens available on a market. Finally what's easier than mushrooms sautéed with onions? Their mushrooms came in deep fried, as if chef is in cahoots with healthcare industry and wants to kill me. Restroom is dangerous to enter and has thick layer of dust on a top of heater, just poor choices of management they mask as character. The waitress was pleasant and lovely though. Texas has such a great fine dining scene, it's a shame Amarillo desperately does not want to be a part of it.

Gay B.

Yelp
GO THERE if you want an amazing burger. It's a small funky little restaurant that you will never forget. They open at 5pm- don't be late!!
google avatar

Jesse S.

Yelp
I ate here for the first time today and it was so delicious you can't get a better burger anywhere else in Amarillo. they have the best food. customer service was so respectful and polite.

Tony Z.

Yelp
Excellent Burger Burger from hell is a great burger Wasn't really that spicy, but great flavor

Ken L.

Yelp
If you want a $12 burger it's ok but nothing else on the menu. Should be called coyote burgers, not coyote Café. With that said burger was pretty good.
google avatar

Nathan F.

Yelp
This place was great! It's been a while but it has not lost its Pizzazz! It was Hoppin' and we were in and out in no time. Partly because Breia is damn good at her job! From hostess to waitress she makes this place go! Food is just as good! Would be worth a wait if there was any, even on a busy Friday! FYI - When searching for burger joints yelp doesn't show this place. Hopefully we can get that changed. Too good to miss out.

Rob B.

Yelp
One of the best burgers I've had in years, and possibly the best fries too. Don't get hung up on the appearance of the building. Go inside and get some great food. All the locals seem to know this is where to eat, and I will certainly be back when I'm through Amarillo again.
