All the Major Chicago Area Restaurant Closures, Summer 2024 | Eater Chicago

"The longtime suburban Thai stalwart at 1018 Davis Street in Evanston — known for its eclectic collection of memorabilia including vintage lunchboxes, Pez dispensers, and a life‑size Elvis statue — will permanently close at the end of June after more than two decades, with owners citing rising rent costs though they remain interested in reopening in a new location." - Ashok Selvam

We came here thanks to the recommendation of someone who LOVES Cozy Thai! And we are now hooked as well! The vibe/atmosphere is really fun and low-key. The decor is engaging, nostalgic, and made for wonderful dinner conversation with my son! It was fun to swap stories about things he recognized and things that were from my childhood! The staff were fantastic! So kind and continually checking if we needed anything. And the food.... The food was some of the best Thai we have ever eaten (and we are Thai food snobs)! Apologies for not recalling the exact names of everything we ate, but we had the appetizer sampler (everything was delicious), the spicy chicken with vegetables (also delicious), and the salmon with vegetables and rice (very, very good). We also ordered Strawberry Mango and Mango Lemonade mocktails and they were beautiful and tasted divine! We will definitely be back on our next trip!

I was very grateful for a last minute delivery when I realized I couldn't eat at an event because I have Celiac. I was able to order and get delivery. They came earlier than original time frame which was great. The taste was great and veggies were fresh. The chicken and shrimp were cooked properly and I wish y'all were in NC! I'll get takeout next time I'm in town. This restaurant does gluten free well!

Food was great, but service was super awkward and uncomfortable. My partner and I took our nine year old and her friend to eat here. The woman who was serving was constantly hovering over us. She took the light fixture on the table off because we turned it on, and she said it was too fragile for that. She told my daughter not to play with the flower that came out on the plate of food. She took my daughter's bowl out of her hands because she thought my daughter would break it. We felt uncomfortable just being in there as people with kids. It was super weird. I would order takeout, but I will not be back in person.

Had the Dragon Ball, iced Thai coffee and chicken fried rice. Interior is fun and nostalgic, with lots of comic books and toys lining the walls. Service was left to be desired. Waited to be seated for a long time, and did not feel welcomed. Very awkward and confusing. Would not recommend.

I've practically tried every restaurant in the Evanston area, and COZY is by far one of the best! The food is incredible, the service is outstanding, and the atmosphere truly lives up to its name-warm, comfortable, and relaxing. I ordered the "Cashew" and my husband ordered the "Pad-thai". We instantly became obsessed with our choices. Now we're just wondering when we'll be ready to branch out and try the rest of their amazing menu!

This is my first time ordering from here. And I chose to just keep things simple witlt an appetizer and a drink as I was in a bit of a rush. And the place was pretty dead so figured the 15 min estimate to make everything would be plenty of time. But by the time I arrived I was told to just sit by the door as it would be out soon. Which is fine the place is cool enough to browse through. But as it turns out they don't like you browsing through the collectibles as you wait for food. So I was asked multiple times to just sit at the door and wait. Which also seemed annoying and rude as its literally a business filled with cool collectibles some of which I even have collections of as well.. So back to the corner I went as I still had another 10-20 mins of waiting and nothing I mean no food came for me or any of the other patrons there during that time. But staff were chit chatting away with each other, looking through the collectibles as well and honestly it was starting to get a bit tiring as I approached my 30 mins of waiting. So as I then finally received my food and went home with it. I had the joy of finding out the "Shrimp Shumai" I had ordered were the SMALLEST dinkiest little things I have ever seen in my life. Like tater tots are bigger than these things. That also took 30 minutes to prepare. Like you have to be kidding me with this. Such an utter disappointment. And now it makes sense why it was dead at 5pm with only seniors dining. No one else has the time to wait an hour for food to be prepped. And also if you love collectibles avoid this place cause they just use it as a gimmick and dgaf if you collect things it seems.. terrible first impression

Please be really careful, the bill they gave you is automatically charged with 20% tip, and if you give 15% based on the bill, you will be ending up charged with a 40% tips! I ended up tipping 40% without being aware of it until I step out of it. The service is definitely not worth such a big amount of tip. I don’t even know whether it is legal to automatically charge you with 20% tip when you insert your credit card! Also the owner is racist. The way she treated white people and non white are totally different. Every white table got a bowl of free shrimp chips but I need to ask for three times to get one for my table. When she gave me mine, she even said:” next time you want it, just order it.” I was almost furious and asked back:” oh? I thought every table got a free bowl of this?” Then she just silenced her mouth and walked away. Such a bad experience, I want to say: STOP BEING RACIST! Especially you yourself is not even white, can’t you relate with people with skin colors? If you feel inferior to white, i am okay with it. Just do not assume everyone else with a skin color is the same.

I've gone to Cozy Noodle since I was a child and it continues to be my absolute favorite Thai food spot in Chicago. The restaurant has just opened at its new location and it's fresh, inviting, and has all of the charm of the previous location. The green curry and pad thai are my absolute favorites, both are incredibly flavorful and bright. And Bee provides such warm, welcoming service, she really makes you feel right at home. I cannot recommend Cozy Noodle enough!
