Where To Eat In Northern Westchester

"We have a complicated relationship with Crabtree’s Kittle House. We love how this place oozes history, how they were name-checking local farms and rotating seasonal ingredients long before it was cool, and how the wine list will silence the biggest grape snob you know. On the flip side, you can’t always tell who’s waiting on your table, and the menu never seems to pick a lane—smoked salmon, falafel bowls, and truffled mac and cheese all make an appearance. But we keep coming back, because there are two great ways to play Crabtree: Bring your parents to the stately main dining room for a civilized, grown-up meal. Or, camp out in the dark, cozy tap room that serves as Chappaqua’s unofficial living room, with live piano music, a killer veggie burger, and a huge glass of your new favorite wine." - mike wasserman

A Guide to Westchester County’s Top Restaurants - Eater NY

"Housed in a 1790s barn-turned-manor house, Crabtree’s Kittle House is a fine-dining institution known for its romantic atmosphere and wine list featuring 40,000 bottles. But what few diners here realize is that the Crabtree family was also at the forefront of the local farm-to-table movement, well before it was a marketing buzzword for restaurants. These days, the menu is still peppered with local ingredients, like Chaseholm Farm cheese and Highland Farm venison, many of which come from small, New York State farms. Don’t skip dessert: The Kittle Krack pie is a decadent amalgam of butter cookie crust and sugary filling, topped with a scoop of coconut gelato." - Samantha Garbarini

Overall a good experience. -Service 100/10 - fully staffed, always had someone available or at our table checking on us -Cocktails- 10/10 (Hugo and aperol spritz) -veggie burger 10/10 -Brussels sprouts 10/10 -mac and cheese 0/10. Please revisit your recipe. Not cheesy enough at all, pasta too big, and when reheated the next day it turned into a congealed mess with a gallon of oil and no cheese stuck to the pasta -basque cheesecake 10/10

The restaurant is not what it used to be. Far from the fine dining experience it was. The service was very slow. They finally came to take a drink order but had never brought a drink menu or wine list. This is a place that is supposed to be semi-famous for their wine cellar. The menu is just a printed piece of paper like they give you in a bar and grill. The food was nothing special. Save your time and money. There are 100 better restaurants within the area.

I had my wedding here and I am so glad it was at the Kittle House. The event coordinator, Kimberly, was a pleasure to work with and was very organized and accommodating. The venue itself was truly beautiful and was perfect for us. The wedding food they provided was all vegan as we requested and they were very good at dealing with this and the food was amazing. They provided so many options and were very flexible. They also found a way to make our specific signature cocktail and did a very good job with it. The staff was were also very attentive and helpful and made everything easier for us. Overall, I highly recommend having your wedding here.

Crabtree’s Kittle House exceeded our expectations for our October wedding. Firstly, the staff were incredible throughout the planning process, as well as all day of execution. The high levels of hospitality and attentive service were outstanding. As the bride, I was completely at ease, as every detail of the big day was addressed perfectly by the team, from ensuring that my husband and I had a private spot to wine and dine for a few minutes immediately after the ceremony, to making sure that our grandmothers were carefully escorted from ceremony to reception. In the absence of a wedding planner, I was the point of contact with the venue and every interaction with the Kittle House was simple – they were highly responsive, clear, transparent, and accommodating. We are so thrilled that our day went so well, largely in part due to the venue. Our target wedding vibes were intimate and cozy and the Kittle House was just that and more! Lastly, it may go without saying based on the venue’s reputation, but our guests truly RAVED about the food, which was all delicious. Thank you to Kimberly and Leo for your support from start to finish. We can’t thank you enough for a perfect day and we look forward to visiting the Kittle House in years to come!

The event Staff, notably Kimberly Ann and Leo are _extremely_ kind and helpful. Kimberly Ann is the definition of aplomb, and if you're planning a wedding or other event, you can count on excellent food and extremely kind attention at every step of the way, from layouts to vendor coordination, to menu planning -- the whole shebang. The Kitchen was very thoughtful and accommodating with regards to various dietary requests, especially for the GF and Vegan contingent at our wedding. The environment and ambiance were great too, but really, the food was the star of the show. The only issue we had was that we were relatively sure we had asked for leftovers from all the buffet items to be sent up to our room, which didn't happen, but when asked about food, the team was happy to send up a lobster salad and Charcuterie plate which made for excellent 2:30 AM fare for the happy couple who, like all the rest, barely got to eat at our own wedding. Absolutely everyone who attended and stayed on premises was overjoyed with the rooms and service. I wish they offered something in between the included breakfast and the 4 course prefixe brunch, but man, it was in fact delicious.

We celebrated our wedding in Crabtree Kittle House Inn and ever since became loyal customers of this beautiful venue. The customer service that we received on all the multiple occasions we've been there is absolute top notch. All the employees are just so welcoming, caring and go above and beyond to make you feel special. We LOVED working with Gus. During our wedding he was like an angel popping up exactly where he needed to be and being truly on top of the things. The staff quality of service was immaculate! We are forever grateful for these memories. The area is beautiful, lots of greenery and feels like being in a garden.

Very overpriced for a room that is less well appointed than a mediocre motel! The curtains, rug, chair, fridge and pillows are glaringly mismatched and shabby, which is not the same as "old", for which the hotel manager requests understanding. The room is simply depressing. The bed is lumpy and bounces when sleepers move in their sleep. The closet has no light and broken plastic hooks. The bathroom has a dirty broken table to support a TJMax-like basket for the towels. The one waste basket for the room is falling apart. And yes, noise does travel in the Inn, for which the manager also requests understanding. Noises are not only event noises but everything - cleaning up in the restaurant kitchen, the running of water and flushing of toilets in other rooms, people talking in other rooms, etc. The included continental breakfast is bare, and incredibly uninspiring for a renown restaurant. There was no one present to check us in at 5 pm, and the person sitting at the front desk never initiated a greeting and asked about our stay. The restaurant is a Best of Westchester and deserves your dollar. The Inn, however, does not. Less than one star.

My husband and I got married in June 2024 and it was truly the best day ever! When we first met Kimberly and Leo, we knew that they were extremely special people. We had visited many other venues in the area and every other venue felt like a sales transaction. Not here though! Kimberly made my husband and I feel so at ease. She provided so many helpful hints and guided us through the entire process. She would answer any email and question we had not matter how nuts it may have been. The things that stood out the most to us was how attentive they were to making the day about us and making sure we celebrated our marriage in our own way. They accommodated my severe gluten allergy with ease and changed menu options to suit us. On the day of the wedding, Kimberly and Leo went above and beyond their roles! Leo was constantly checking in on myself and my husband ensuring we were eating and drinking. They were the most amazing individuals that we could have worked with and I cannot wait to celebrate many more milestones with them soon!! Everyone should book their wedding at Kittlehouse because it truly was and always will be the best day ever!!

Yelp
Went to this famous restaurant and in built in 1790. Offers farm-to- table food in several charming dining rooms. They also have an amazing wine cellar. Started with a very good Beet Salad with organic beets, toasted pistachios, coach farm goat cheese, and blood orange vinaigrette. For mains, my wife tried the Beef Brisket Chili served with sour cream and a three year aged cheddar, she really liked it. I being a game nut tried their grilled Highland Farms Venison Loin, chanterelles,, baby turnips,, smoked moscato grapes, and wild huckleberries. Excellent and a great presentation. Definitely will return when we come back to NY.

Yelp
Hosted my daughter's shower at the Kittle House. I was so pleased with the room set up, the food was delicious (that salmon was getting rave reviews from all our guests!) and Kimberly was a true pleasure to work with. I would recommend for any event!

Yelp
In slow decline in recent years, suddenly it's much worse (was it sold?). The dining room has always been stodgy and filled mostly with octogenarian diners but the waiters were highly competent and energetic. We all know how hard it is to get staff, but on a recent visit we had a waiter and bartender who seemed to have little experience in a restaurant either as servers or customers. Communications skills were an issue. The food was also not great - salads were blah, a steak sandwich was mostly onions on a strange piece of bread, and other dishes were ordinary or worse. Not the fine dining experience it once was.

Yelp
It's two weeks past our wedding and we are still getting phone calls daily about how our guests were pampered and pleased by Kimberly Ann and Leo from catering and how the kitchen out perform themselves on the food service from the charcuterie boards through the pass around to the multiple hot appetizer stations during the cocktail hour The hors d'oeuvres were only bested by the four course main meal and the pastries and gelato bar for dessert. Yes the wedding was fantastic, yes, the the florist, Whispering Pines, the music by Sound Active and Michael Pollito as the photographer all teamed up for a seamless presentation of a Sunday afternoon wedding from beginning to end. The stopper was our three tiered wedding cake, custom designed by Desserts by Jess. We were fortunate enough to have Kimberly plan an intimate dinner for 14 in the wine room the evening before the nuptials. Close family, and friends who haven't seen each other in more than 60 years, fell into warm conversation over fantastic food and wine just like they saw each other last week. It was truly a magical evening. Robin and I cannot think each and every member of the Kittle house staff for job exceedingly well performed.

Yelp
We had a fantastic meal here with friends. The atmospheric here is comfortable and cozy yet elegant. Service excellent. I had the asparagus soup & the branzino- both delicious. We shared the truffle mashed potatoes & the Brussels sprouts which were also both great. The sorbet trio for dessert was refreshing & really good. Highly recommended

Yelp
A great place for a wedding- Kim coordinated every aspect of the wedding and was extremely cooperative, responsive and friendly. She knows all the vendors (DJ, flowers, wedding cake and officiants) She was so easy to work with checklists and years of experience. Leo, the maitdre d' knows his staff and the appetizers, entree and bar were run flawlessly. The food is very good and the pre wedding tasting allowed us to make the right choices. The passed apps in the cocktail hour were delicious- the lamb knobobs, Captain crunch shrimp, chicken and waffles skewers and mushroom tart were great. The bartenders had the cold beer, wine and cocktails ready to go. My beautiful daughter and her new husband got a perfect day. The cost was very competitive and the KH one wedding per day policy worked for us. Highly recommended. The 12 Inn rooms up the stairs were very nice.

Delicious food Quiet pleasant ambience excellent service Just a quality restaurant and restaurant week sealed the deal

Yelp
We all really enjoyed our evening. Really lovely setting. The loin of venison and short ribs were excellent. Great wine list with all price points by bottle and glass. Our server was very helpful. Will be back.

Yelp
I love the location. The restaurant is in an old plantation-style house from the 1800s. The servers are on point. This is definitely a fine-dining establishment so that is to be expected. They have one of the most extensive wine lists in the country. There is a wine cellar that you can request to dine in. The food is phenomenal. The truffle mac and cheese was creamy and enhanced with truffle oil. The short rib was so tender you could tear it with your fork. The gravy around it was rich and delicious. The short rib was accompanied by collared greens and parsnips, both were delicious. Overall I was very impressed with the Kittle House. The service and the food are both outstanding. If you're looking for a place to go for a special occasion, look no further.

Yelp
Lovely ambiance, but attention to detail and quality of the food and beverages have gone downhill in the last few years. We used to come every year, nearly 20 years, for a holiday dinner and were always blown away, but the food and experience the last couple of years has simply been "meh." The service was very slow and transactional when present--not the high touch and welcoming service we have received in the past. While seated for a nice dinner with my family. I was wearing a satin dress for the holidays. Halfway through the meal, I realized my skirt was stuck to a piece of gum under our table! I looked and there were about 5 pieces of gum stuck under the table--I expect a cleaner environment at this caliber of establishment. And although our waiter got me a wet napkin to try and clean the gum off my dress, no one from management came over, neither to apologize nor to ask if we would like to move to another table. I wish they would have offered to pay for the dry cleaning of my skirt, or at least given us something complementary to express their apologies. It was disappointing that they didn't do anything at all.

Yelp
Very beautiful setting for a restaurant--gorgeous drive up to the property and the inside is a classic setting for dinner or brunch. The brunch is a great deal, at $50 pre fixe, which includes: muffin/bagel & fruit basket for the table, appetizer, entree, dessert, Bloody Mary/mimosa, coffee& tea! $20 for kids, which includes an artfully presented fruit salad, pancakes or waffles, juice and an ice cream sundae. Generous portions and amazing service! The staff is a team and all have a great sense of humor and extremely efficient and attentive. Highly recommend!

Yelp
This charming restaurant is an idyllic retreat from the hustle and bustle of city life, where one can indulge in the beauty of nature and the flavors of the land. The menu at the Kittle House is a celebration of local, seasonal ingredients, showcasing the bounty of the Hudson Valley. With a focus on good value, particularly their brunch, the Kittle House offers a dining experience that's accessible and affordable, without sacrificing the quality and artistry of the cuisine. It's a warm and welcoming atmosphere that's reflective of the quaint countryside aesthetic of Westchester. The restaurant's historic building, with its charming architectural details, is a nod to the area's rich history, and the cozy dining rooms are an invitation to relax and savor the land.

Yelp
Lovely, quaint, quiet, peaceful and very clean. Great location, easy parking indoor and outdoor seating, free complementary breakfast with toasted, granola, hard-boiled eggs to go, cereal, fresh juices, coffee, and tea, banana bread, bread pudding bread, and the best sourdough I've ever had in my life. The room was beautiful and huge like a large one bedroom apartment... felt like it was 800 sq feet. The only complaint I have is that there's no Wi-Fi, and there are very few electrical sockets, and I found only 2 that I could use easily. Regardless it is Beautiful and charming, large rooms with antique decorations. Lovely staff.

Yelp
1/9/2023 Lunch with wife. This is one of our favorite restaurants and always come for either lunch or dinner whenever we visit Westchester. The menus are updated to reflect the season. They source local produce. The service is very efficient and friendly. The wine list is considerable and noted by the Wine Spectator. We've been cooking to this great place since the 1970s. Great place, highly recommend it.

Yelp
This is from the MOB's point of view...Crabtree's Kittle House is nestled in a lovely neighborhood. A charming Inn with delicious food and wines, and an extraordinary staff of people. By the end of your experience you can consider them family! The event coordinator, Kimberly Ann took us under her very professional wing and took us on a journey of planning a spectacular wedding. She was always ahead of our needs and kept us on task all the while seeing that she met every need and vision had by all involved. Communication was constant and with affection. Leo, another gem who oversaw the tasting and the day and very late night of the wedding was amazing. No request too difficult for him to fulfill - and always with a smile! It was the start of the June heat wave and about to pour before the wedding ceremony. No worries, Kimberly Ann, Leo, and their team pivoted seamlessly and set everything up indoors and all the vendors (Bow & Rose Florals- amazing and ethereal vibe; Lulu Cake Boutique - delish and gorgeous; and fabulous DJ, videographer, photographer, mariachi band and on and on) were in place as if it was all planned. The rain pouring on the atrium was magical and probably meant to be (not a dry eye in the house during that ceremony). The food and wine during the cocktail hour AND dinner was amazing, the signature drinks fantastic, the antique bar was cozy and inviting- thank you bartenders you kept up. The history of the Inn and surrounding grounds embraced you in a time gone by. Just a magical place for a very special day filled with life-long memories. Yes Kimberly Ann...Best Day Ever! Thank you all! And Mr. Crabtree, thank you for keeping your venue affordable for couples and keeping the quality high!

Lila P.

Yelp
We've been here several times for brunch and dinner and have always loved the food. Everything has been delicious. We typically sit outside and it's one of my favorite outdoor seating areas. Very peaceful and beautiful sitting in a garden. We will continue to keep coming back.

Yelp
Thursday night live music! The Bronzino was light and delicate. Excellent. My friend had the steak and Wes very pleased. Oh and the beat salad also light and clean.

Yelp
The place is completely comfortable relaxed setting. Even if you're getting a lunch or dinner the food always seems to be perfect for what you need. Last time I went in was for a quick lunch which I got their burger, which was exceptional, along with the fries which were perfectly crisp,. I even got a dessert called the gift, which was some thing I would expect from a Michelin rated restaurant.

Yelp
Came for Sunday brunch for the first time and it was nice. Good variety of food to pick from off the 4 course brunch menu. They start the table off with fresh fruit and bagels. Then I got the shrimp cocktail appetizer which was delicious. Belgian waffle for my main which was just the right portion and tasty. Then the brownie for dessert which was more like a rich chocolate cake vs a brownie. I tried my sisters bread pudding and that was so good! Also very nice wait staff, all were very friendly. I would want to come back for dinner for sure!

Yelp
A peaceful dinner retreat with an excellent Continental menu. Family dinners are now provided for take-out.

Yelp
The Kittle House continues to shine above the Westchester restaurant scene. Numerous visits this past year has resulted in consistently excellent meals with wonderful professional service. Beautiful scenic and comfortable country style atmosphere adds to the fine experience here. Everyone feels welcome so unlike one other upscale and presumptuous area dining establishment over yonder at blue hill...

Yelp
I stayed one night at the Inn and had dinner at the bar the week before last. My experience with both was disappointing. I have eaten at Kittlehouse many many times over the years and it was always excellent. But the dinner I had this week was not. Both the food and service were average. I had oysters on the half shell that were gritty and had shell fragments inside. Mussels as an entrée that were lacking in flavor and rubbery in texture. It was the first time I stayed overnight at the Inn. I ordered a cup of herbal tea with room service after dinner. I assumed it would come up to the room in a pot of hot water with a selection of teabags like it would at most Inn's, but they brought up an already brewed cup of chamomile tea in a mug. I thought it was odd for a restaurant of this caliber to serve room service in that manner. The bed was the most uncomfortable bed I've ever slept in. You could feel the outline of every spring. The sheets felt like polyester. The pillows were lumpy. I just was really surprised that the rooms were not better appointed. When I checked in the staff told me that due to the fact I was checking out at 8 AM which is earlier than the time the continental breakfast is served, they could prepare a breakfast plate and bring it up to my room by 7:30AM. No breakfast ever arrived by the time I left at 8:00AM. When I went down to the desk to check out and give them feedback about my disappointing experience, there was nobody there. I ended up seeing someone working in the bar room area and I knocked on the door and asked them how to check out and was told to just leave my key at the desk.

Yelp
Had 2 fabulous meals here where quality and consistency were displayed. The complimentary bread invoked memories of the best bread from Italy, slightly sour, the right chew and pull. Had a spot on beet and tomato salad. The salmon lox appetizer on toasted bread with crème fraise hit all the right marks. The bone in pork chop cooked perfectly. properly season and served over perfect whipped potatoes. Hanger Steak covered in chimichurri served with house cut fries came as ordered sliced and medium rare. The duck entree did not disappoint. And finally their famous molten lava chocolate pastry with a scoop of vanilla bean ice cream was a dessert to remember. Add 5 star service while sitting in a dining room dating back to the 1700's makes this inn special. Will dine here again

Yelp
This review is on my dining experience and it was amazing. I came with low expectations because I wasn't impressed with their brunch. Little did I know that there's no comparison between their brunch and dinner, both food and service. Staff service was stellar and manager checked if we were happy. Everything we ordered was delicious. When I ordered branzino, I thought to myself that it was just another branzino but to my delight, the sides that came with it were a surprise. The branzino itself was fresh. Everything we ordered such as ceviche, beet salad and tuna au poivre were uniquely prepared/cooked to perfection. As coffee snobs, their coffee and cappuccino passed our picky pallet. For desserts, the GIFT (chocolate/ganache inside) was worth the 15 minute wait. Fine dining at its best. Yes highly recommended and we will be back!

Dan R.

Yelp
Service was abysmal. For this price, there are many better options nearby. They made mistakes in nearly every order. We had to cancel one entree and replace it with another. Even the most basic requests "No dessert, thanks, just the check" needed 20 minutes and two staffers.

Yelp
This spot does pretty well with incorporating covid requirements. They have seemingly spaced out tables enough for social distancing. They have also included separation between tables as an extra covid precaution. All staff were maksed 100% of the time. Service was impeccably done and very attentive. I ordered a hanger steak and it came with onion rings. The steak was just okay. My other party ordered branzino with coucous and also informed the food was not too flavorful and was just okay. The 'gift' dessert was indulgent and delicious.

Yelp
Reliable, high quality restaurant. The formal dining room is a little stuffy for our taste, but very popular. Good for occasions, business meals, etc. we prefer the tap room or the bar. Wood-paneled , cozy setting. The place is also an inn.

Yelp
Every year for my parents' anniversary my brothers and I take them out for dinner. The past two years we went to the same restaurant, so this year we wanted to change it up a bit. We had all been to the Kittle House before for brunch, but were always curious about their dinner offerings. That being said, we decided to take them here to celebrate. The Kittle House acts as both a restaurant and and inn. Located in Chappaqua, the restaurant is kind of a destination spot due to its high quality food, killer wine selection, and overall upscale, historical aesthetics. Since we're in Westchester, the restaurant offered both indoor and outdoor dining, but we opted to eat outside. They did the outside very nice - tables well spaced apart, lights strung throughout the area, and a QR code at each table so we could read the menu on our phones. I wouldn't say it matched the historical charm of the interior decor exactly, but it complemented it well. The menu had a nice selection - mostly New American dishes with a few surprises like a barbecue plate and lobster. To start I had the burrata - this was paired with a few greens and slices of tomato. Overall it wasn't the best burrata I've had, but it had that creamy center which was nice. I would have liked to have seen it paired maybe with some prosciutto or asparagus to take it to the next level. For my main I had the salmon which was quite good. It was paired with black jasmine rice, broccoli rabe, and grape tomatoes. It also had a very light cream sauce which really tied everything together. The salmon was cooked well and overall the dish was a yes. For dessert I had their Kittle Krack pie which had a really buttery taste and consistency to it; they topped the pie with coconut gelato which was kind of random but worked. Their cocktail menu shouldn't be missed - the French martini which included pineapple juice was quite good. Service was good overall, though something that happened toward the end of my meal bothered me a bit. We were sitting outside and during the latter half of my time there the temperature dropped to below 50; fine - I had on a thick sweater and the restaurant had those tower heaters on so I could handle it. What irked me though was that I guess the cold bothered a table down the way so much that they asked the staff to move the heater closer to their table - and they did. That didn't seem fair to me because then it left my table without any source of heat - I would have appreciated at least being asked before something like that was done, or maybe explaining to the other table that there are other diners outside and the heat needs to be shared. All things considered though, the Kittle House provides a good dining experience. I would definitely return for a special occasion to explore more of their menu and wines.

Yelp
The Crabtree has been around a long time, and the food they serve is classic. I always enjoy my meal, but they definitely could use an update. I don't get excited by the food, but it sure is good.
google avatar

Bonnie F.

Yelp
Crabtree has been on my frequent rotation since I moved to Westchester in 2018. I've had b-day dinners, family gatherings, romantic nights, and enlisted their help with catering my holiday dinners. They have never disappointed me. Recently, after ordering their Thanksgiving catering services, I realized I would not have enough food. Many of my guests were hungry young adults with large appetites. I called Crabtree with my concerns and without question they packed up some extra food for me. I found their response to be very understanding and accommodating with what could have become a stressful situation. Thank you, Crabtree. :) On another note, I have food allergies ( gluten specifically), and I've never gotten sick or had a problem ordering a meal with substitutions. I respect them for this and place them into a special category of restaurants. I do not want to leave out how unbelievably delicious their food is; the Chef (s), kitchen staff are extremely talented, and the staff are equally amazing, welcoming, professional and knowledgeable of their menus. I definitely recommend Crabtree; one of my favorite restaurants in Westchester.

Yelp
I am a big fan of this place. Old school with top service, very good wine list, nice bar. Has a New England kind of feel. Deserts are excellent and all dishes are well prepared with decent size portions. Excellent Sunday brunch buffet. They treat you very well. Although they get busy on weekends you never feel rushed. Basically you know what you are going to get here and they deliver. It is a place where many people have special occasion dinners. They also have inn rooms and a few friends have stayed there when visiting the area.

Yelp
The room is filthy. There is a dog barking all night in a room next to mine. The window screens are torn. Took five minutes to get hot water last night.

Yelp
I had a wonderful lunch there during restaurant week. First of all, the tavern part of the estate is so adorable and rustic. We sat by the fireplace. I started off with a Gnudi appetizer and my friend got the pumpkin and apple bisque. The gnudi was absolutely amazing, with garlic cherry tomatoes surrounding it. Loved it. The soup was equally good. For entrées, we got The slow roasted pork shank and the Goffle Farm Chicken Breast. The chicken was served with vegetables, On a fluffy bed of yukon gold potato purée, very perfectly executed. The pork shank was outrageous! It sat a top toasted farro, and organic baby carrots. It was so tender and juicy, quite memorable. For dessert, we ordered the chocolate chip bread pudding and the Alsatian Style Cheesecake with a cranberry compote. The bread pudding was quite good in a nice bourbon flavored sauce. The cheesecake was equally delicious. The perfect ending to a perfect meal.

Yelp
We had our daughter's christening reception at the Kittle House yesterday, and it was absolutely perfect. Right from the outset, the staff was wonderful. I showed up with little time to spare (because 4 month old baby...) and they jumped right in helping me to set out decorations, light candles etc. The food was outstanding, the Ivy Hill room was beautiful (and included fresh hydrangea arrangements which really added to our decor), and everyone had a lovely time. We got rave reviews from all our guests. Very grateful to all the staff who helped us plan and execute such a perfect day. My husband and I will be back for dinner for sure!

Yelp
Having reviewed the ratings for this awesome establishment I decided to book a get away anyway. My choice to stay with Crabtree's Kittle House was based on their menu and rustic Inn. This place did not disappoint! Staff was very accommodating and friendly. Dinner, drinks and dessert were absolutely perfect. Being a foodie and a home chef it's difficult to find a menu to please a critic, but I did and was very happy with everything. We shared a dessert up in our room and didn't get a photo but wow it was also fantastic. The Inn is hundreds of years old so be warned the place creeks and makes odd sounds, but it's charming and we loved it. Our room was very large, clean and cool. They had the air conditioning on for us which was appreciated. Who wants a reduced carbon footprint when on vacation. Good job! We are off to see the Hudson Valley! Will check in again later with more photos.

Yelp
This is my favorite place for a Sunday brunch. I recently gave my brother a Birthday brunch and all of the 20 guests were very pleased with the quality of the food and there was plenty of it for and the friendly service I would highly recommend the brunch for any occasion.

Yelp
This place is like walking back in time. Absolutely enchanting. Service was fantastic. Good food - wonderful selection of salads and entrees. I recommend the beet salad and a filet mignon. We even had the chance to get a tour of the wine cellar. Quite impressive.

Yelp
Cozy and charming, tasty entrees, delicious desserts, friendly staff. A welcome country get away - still one of Westchester's best. Worth the money for the overall experience.

Yelp
We hosted a Bar Mitzvah for our son at Crabtree's Kittle House and it surpassed all expectations! Kimberly was amazing to work with-so detail oriented, so accessible, so knowledgeable, so helpful. She really went above and beyond to coordinate with us and all our vendors. The food was terrific and Leo was incredibly helpful the night of the event. We got very lucky with a beautiful October night so the setting was breathtaking. We were able to set up a tent outside so guests could take advantage of both indoor and outdoor spaces. We wouldn't hesitate to return. Thanks for a fantastic experience!

Yelp
We are from Princeton, NJ, and we were traveling to go see William Christie and friends at the Caramoor Music Festival in August 2022. We wanted a nice, charming place to stay the night. This place fit the bill completely -- and more! First, they have some really good managers. Barbara K. was managing from the front desk and she could put up with both my really dour mood at arrival (long trip!) but also the several requests throughout our stay. Our room in the side wing was clean, with nice hardwood flooring, beautiful, comfortable and it had furniture reminiscent of our country house that made us feel right at home. The view was breathtaking -- the best I've had with the exception of staying on the Mont Saint Michel in France (a big mountain on the ocean). The little bathroom was cute and charming, and completely refreshed (it seemed freshly painted). We slept very comfortably on the firm large King Bed and I appreciated the foam rather than springs. The breakfast was really nice, a cold buffet available until 10 AM, with a nice selection, it was much more than the perfunctory buffets I see at most hotels in this price range. No hot food, but hard boiled eggs, individual servings of fresh fruits, house-made granola, local yogurt, and some really good brewed coffee. The area has this beautiful gold course and property that is a pleasure to roam around at night for a digestive walk. Even small details made a difference, like the existence of a side-entrance that was very close to our room, and made trips to-and-from the car much easier. In the end, we were so happy we decided to extend our trip by a day, and to book a return in November 2022. Now my tips for prospective travelers: -- If noise is an issue for you, just let them know and ask them if they have a big event. If they do, they can put you in rooms away from the action. -- If smells in the hallway is an issue for you, just ask if you can have a room in the new renovated part of the inn.

Yelp
My wife and I got married here 28 years ago and decided to go back for an anniversary brunch on a busy Sunday in August. We had not been back since. A friend, who lived locally, joined us. The building and grounds still look great. We made reservations online. After you order, they place a lovely plate of bagels, fresh fruit, cream cheese and muffins on your table. Everything was very fresh. Nice way to start. The brunch was a 4 course price-fixed meal, which we knew going in. You can enjoy lunch or breakfast. Two of us went with breakfast and the other went with lunch. Our table began with the organic smoked salmon and the lobster bisque soup. Excellent. All the portions were more than generous. The smoked salmon was tasty and chilled to the perfect temperature. Our friend devoured the soup. Our table ordered the bronzini, bananas foster French Toast, and the Belgium waffle with fresh berries. We also ordered a side of apple smoked bacon. Our friend said the bronzini was fantastic. She ate everything. The French Toast and waffle came out fresh and hot. Delicious. Our dessert was pecan pie and two orders of the apple crumble. Nice portions, fresh, and it went well with coffee. As coffee snobs, the coffee was excellent. The service was excellent. We even received a decorated plate saying, "Happy Anniversary" written in chocolate syrup. The price was very reasonable. There was plenty of parking around the property. The building still looks as beautiful as it did 28 years ago. I don't think I'll wait another 28 years to return again!

Yelp
Disappointing! Service was clumsy. Sat for 10 minutes before a waiter came to the table. Spilled water on the table & our hands whenever water glasses were filled. Bronzino was flavorless & mushy. Beet & Goat Cheese salad had minuscule crumbs of cheese & only 4 skinny sprigs of green. Saw a server holding 2 plates in a full body hold (like a football), way too much body contact on those plates! Started at the bar for drinks - also disappointed. Clumsy service. Poor cosmo martini. Overall a real shame. Have been dining here for 25 years but not sure we will be back anytime soon.

Yelp
My fiancee and I went to try the food at Crabtree's and it was phenomenal. One of the best American food restaurants I've been to. We ordered the Salmon with black rice and the NY steak. The salmon completely blew me away, everything was cooked to perfection and the meat was incredibly tender. The aesthetics of each plate were beautiful, specially the artichoke appetizer which was splendig. The drinks were soo on point as well, we ordered a passion fruit mojito and penicillin. We are definitely coming back for more!

Yelp
Second time at this restaurant. The waitstaff are friendly and extremely attentive... well informed of the menu items... the recommendations made by the waiter spot on... my husband had the venison ossso bucco which was delightful... braised then slow cooked. I had branzino filet over cous cous with vegetables. Must have "the gift" for dessert. Phylo pastry formed into a gift box filled with the equivalent of chocolate lava cake, which sat on a bed crème anglaise with strawberries... delicious! The restaurant could use some updating, but that should not deter you from visiting.

Yelp
Although the food was good, the service at Kittle house was absolutely awful! When we arrived there we sat down and placed an order for wine relatively quickly. However, about 15 mins later we were told that wine was not available. When it came to the menu, we were having difficulty pulling it up on our phone so the waiter came to our table and said he would bring us a paper menu. We waited for this menu for 15 mins until we finally flagged someone down who said they didn't have any paper menus. For one of our appetizers we ordered a lobster bisque. This came to us at room temperature but without any spoons to eat it. By the time we actually received the spoons, the bisque was barely warm and subpar. It also had barely any lobster meat in it. For the main, I chose to get the Duck L'Orange. I asked the waiter if it would be possible to swap out the couscous for some mashed potatoes. He said that would be no problem. I was shocked when I saw my duck arrive to the table. All I got was slices of duck with mashed potatoes. They mysteriously forgot to give me the sauce, shiitake mushrooms, brussel sprouts, and lardons. When I brought this up to the waiter he said he would bring the rest of the dish out to the table shortly, but yet again, by the time I got the rest of the items my dish was cold. They also still did not give the lardons. When it came to dessert we ordered the chocolate chip bread pudding with bourbon sauce & apple crumble with gelato & caramel. Both desserts seemed to have the same caramel sauce, there was no sign of any bourbon. the bread pudding also had maybe 2 or 3 chocolate chips in the whole thing so it was more like a plain bread pudding.

Yelp
I have been here several times before, as it's one of my favorite restaurants in the area. I've come to here celebrate my birthday, Mother's Day, and other special occasions. This time I came with a friend for Restaurant week. I ordered the Lobster Bisque, which was perfectly done, and the Breast of Goffler Farm Organic Chicken. I was a bit disappointed in the chicken, as I almost always order each time I come and it wasn't the same. I missed the little pot that the mashed potatoes normally come in. Also, the sides/portion seemed smaller than in the past and lacked the 'wow' factor in flavor and presentation. For dessert, I was hoping to get the Chocolate 'Kittle Kat' Crunch Bar, but instead I ordered the Valrhona Double Chocolate Brownie, because the Kittle Kat was not part of the Restaurant week menu. The brownie was so dry and stale! It tasted like it was made the week prior. It came with a little dollop of whipped cream, but that alone did not make it any less dry. Perhaps a little scoop of ice cream might have helped? One will never know. The presentation and portion seemed 'cheap' - I needed to scrape up every last bit of whipped cream just to make the brownie somewhat palatable. The overall ambiance was quiet and pleasant. I was very happy that they had finally removed the "Covid curtains" that dangled from the ceiling in between each table, as they offered no true protection and just seemed very tacky.

Yelp
It was a gorgeous fall day and we thought Crabtree Kittle House would be the perfect place to enjoy an outdoor lunch. It also happened to be Hudson Valley Restaurant Week which made it even more enticing. The waitstaff was very attentive and immediately came over and took our complete order. We order two Caesar Salads (with anchovies) and two beet salads. Everyone was quite satisfied with their apps, they were delicious and plentiful. For our entrees we ordered two Branzinos and one Cavatelli bolognese and the organic chicken. The presentation was impressive and the Cavatelli and Chicken dishes were well received and enjoyed by our husbands. Both myself and my friend's Branzino entrees were undercooked, we weren't sure at first but after a few bites we could tell it just was not right, raw center. At that moment a waiter came by and noticed by the expression on our faces. He asked if everything was ok, we proceeded to explain, he immediately removed the two dishes. He returned in about 10 minutes with two brand new plates. We were obviously satisfied because our plates were clean when he came back to check on us. We completed our meal with the included desserts, 3 in our party ordered the cheese cake and I enjoyed the bread pudding. We had a wonderful afternoon, we were there for almost 3 hours, never feeling rushed at any moment. The afternoon truly deserves 5 stars, but I do feel that they should have offered us something to make up for the undercooked fish, after lunch drink? Apology?
