The Best Viet-Cajun Restaurants in Houston | Eater Houston

"This seafood vendor inside the Post Houston satisfies Downtown patrons’ crawfish cravings and Viet-Cajun specialties year-round. The dark roux seafood gumbo; buckets of crawfish, shrimp, and oysters; and fried rice are packed with flavor, and the loaded oyster nachos make for a fun food hall snack." - Brittany Britto Garley

Where to Get Crawfish in Houston This Season

"Post Houston’s food market indulges Houston’s crawfish craze with this Cajun seafood vendor. For the full experience, start with the fried oyster nachos and a cup of seafood gumbo — a food hall favorite loaded with crawfish, shrimp, and oysters. Then, dig into a bucket of the Mix, a combination of a pound of crawfish, a pound of mussels, 12 pieces of boiled shrimp, two ears of corn, and two potatoes — all flavored with the seasoning of your choice." - Sean Hekmat, Brittany Britto Garley

There was a bit of a language barrier ordering food. I had multiple pounds of crawfish and gumbo. The crawfish were the best I have had all season. Very good. I was excited about the gumbo, however, it was just good. Will I order it again? Maybe a small portion of it. The staff were very friendly even in busy situations. Update 4/8/25- So I went back to get more food and they were gone. Like the stall they were in was completely empty and the cage was shut. This was on a Saturday evening.

This place springs a 20% Gratuity Fee on you after you're done eating. The amount of people they have robbed here cannot be overstated here. Some businesses deserve to fail and this is one of them. If you can't pay your workers a reasonable wage without forced tips, you shouldn't be in business. They could just increase their food prices, and they'd get the same money without the robbery, but instead they want to force you into a situation where the correct decision is to dine and dash. Nobody wants to steal, but it's far better than being stolen from.

Google
My cousin suggested this place. So I went. I ordered the Seafood Gumbo. For the price, it is more than fair. They are made to order, so please be patient. The only way to serve any kind of seafood is fresh. Each bite was savory and had some seafood protein in it. I highly recommend it. This place has so many options but Crazy Cajun is my first choice for something that warms up my soul.

Me and my family were here for the first time, the manager recommended that we tried the Original flavor for the crawfish and it was so gooood!!! He was so nice and very helpful, everything was delicious. The only downside is that the place was very crowded, it was kinda hard to just sit and hangout.

I came here based on the reviews, but the food did not meet my expectations. This is supposed to be a Cajun restaurant but the “Crazy Cajun” menu item had no flavor. I come from Houston where there is an abundance of authentic Cajun restaurants. The seafood at Crazy Cajun was over steamed or boiled. The shrimp did not taste fresh. For $21.95 per person the amount of seafood vs overwhelming amount of corn/potatoe/sausage was not worth the price. The only positive I have to say about this place is the service. Our server was great and attentive.

The first time I had Cajun, it was a bit spicy, but delicious. The owner is really nice and friendly to explain the dish to me.

So I am Jude pouring this out there this is NOT worth $20. If you are charging pappadeaux prices at least taste like you are trying to give us something worth trying. Very disappointed.

Yelp
The food was ok, I had the gumbo. Too much rice not enough shrimp, chicken, sausage. The price was a little high, but not terrible. The reason for the loss of 2 stars is the poor hospitality. The cashier doesn't even bother to say hi, stand up to take order, has headphones on, doesn't say thank you. Terrible service.

Yelp
Went to POST and wanted to try Crazy Cajun this time. I had high hopes for it since every time that I've been to POST, this restaurant has a pretty decent line. I was in the mood for boiled shrimp so I ordered that in the flavor Cajun. Upon first bite, the shrimp had a strange taste. It was like Cajun seasoning with a hint of fish sauce or some type of weird flavor that didn't belong. It was so bad that I didn't even finish it. Not to mention that it was completely over priced, as I paid about $20 for a half a pound of shrimp. I was very disappointed, the best thing about the meal was the crazy mama dipping sauce.

Yelp
Good seafood fried rice with shrimp and crawfish. I liked the Cajun butter that came with it.

Yelp
I'm a very big fries person! I love all types of fries and decided to try all the different ones at Post Htx. First impressions: Crazy Cajun is towards the back of the food hall, it definitely reminds me of a crawfish restaurant with the interior. Service: Service was good! The guy who took my order was nice and he got our food out super fast. Food: I wish I tried something more but I only had the fries. I gotta say, for being the most expensive fries at the food hall (at a price of 15 dollars), I expected this thing to be amazing. However, it definitely fell a little short for me. They're called loaded fries, but compared to the other fries at post, they're not much different. It was actually kinda dry in my opinion, not enough sauce was placed on the fries and the meat was dry as well. I honestly would not get this again, but I would have to try something else from the restaurant. I know my cousins got a platter, but also said it was average. Am I willing to try this place again? Of course!

Yelp
The food was OK. The service was great. The ambience was very quiet. I went there thinking that it was another crazy Cajun expecting their taste, but I enjoy flavors

Yelp
We decided to check out Post Market on a Sunday night. It's pretty amazing, all the different types of cuisine. I chose to get crawfish from crazy cajun. They have different sauce and heat options. They have 3 and 5 lb options, I got the 5 lbs with sensation sauce, regular heat (fairly mild) and it came with 3 potatoes and 2 corn. The sensation sauce is a mix of Vietnamese and Cajun flavors. The crawfish quality was amazing and they were big! Being a native Louisianan I prefer more flavor in the boil. The outside flavor was delicious but inside was lacking flavor. I probably wouldn't get the crawfish again but would go back to try more things on the menu.

Yelp
Great food and great location at Post! Tried their gumbo - very tasty and quick. Excited to try their other foods. Always fun to follow-up with some ice cream at other places in the food court.

Yelp
We walked up to the counter to order. The manager /owner ( Vietnamese Lady ) was on her phone and didn't even look up. There was only one other customer dining in, so they were not busy. The lady looked up at us, then looked back down on her phone - she was too occupied with her phone to say hi or to let us know that she would help us momentarily. Very rude and unprofessional. We left to go eat elsewhere where our business is appreciated.

Yelp
Very good food !! Only issue it was hard to find I had to call the mains place to figure it out. This restaurant is worth going and the old post office is so cool so many different places to eat or drink this is such a great idea !! Would go again !

Yelp
Crazy Cajun has really good shrimp po-boys and dank Cajun fries! Yummy viet-Cajun. Must try!

Yelp
I love gumbo, but here wasn't my favorite. Presentation was great, the person that took my order was super nice and friendly, but the gumbo was too salty for my taste.

Yelp
The flavor combinations for the crawfish always fresh and never disappoints. You gotta try the gumbo also! It's cooked to perfection and such a Louisiana staple

Yelp
The location at the post, absolutely terrible service. They told me initially I could order only fried food. I asked for a shrimp po boy and the lady told me they are out of it. I saw the bread sitting on the counter and then she told me they won't make the po boy. The restaurant closes at 10 and they refused to serve me at 925. My friend went to order and then she lied and said that she is not taking any orders at all. I also witnessed them give food to other customers such as fried rice

Nikki G.

Yelp
Best tasting crawfish hands down !! I live far and will drive just for this place during crawfish season
