The Best Chinese Food in Richmond, British Columbia | Eater Seattle

"The “Explosion Pulp Chicken” sign might sound the most intriguing (it’s like chicken cordon bleu), but it’s the various noodle dishes from Guangxi province that really hook diners here. The Guilin noodles are slightly sauced and pack a punch with three types of meat, while the Nanning noodles come in a sour soup with lettuce, ginger, garlic, and black bean sauce. Perhaps most compelling of all are the Liuzhou noodles, swimming in a slightly earthy and bitter soup with deep-fried tofu skin, day lilies, shredded black fungus, sour bamboo shoots, quail eggs, lettuce, sour beans, and fried peanuts." - Jay Friedman

Google
Nanning lao you fen (old friend noodles) was tasty. Felt thirsty after, but not sure if that's because of a lot of msg or the high amounts of preserved bamboo in the soup. Nanning lao you fen might not be for everyone as it's savory and sour. I believe the sourness is from the preserved bamboos. Overall recommend trying if you haven't tried this noodle dish before. It's a unique taste profile

Oh my god I have never tasted anything better. The Lao You Fen is absolutely divine. I recommend this place for fun, unique flavors. This is definitely my new go to spot for some comfort Chinese heartwarming food. The staff is so nice and I love making small talk with them, the aunt is smiley and seems very outgoing. Would definitely come back!

Yelp
Very friendly staff and reasonable price for what you get. I had the 老友粉 and liked it! Good amount of pork that tastes fresh, and the broth was yummy. It's located in a food court with several other Chinese places, very casual and you clean your own table. I'd come back next time I'm in Richmond.

Yelp
8/31/2024 Saturday morning 11 am here for breakfast.. This tiny food court is packed. But most customers were after Cha Kee Kitchen.. We go for this eatery alternatively and found the food here not bad at all. It's original, hot and tasty. And the price is reasonable. Gf like it and she definitely would be back again..

Yelp
All the points go to the staff cos they were nice and friendly. The stinky snail noodle was not great though. It lacked any depth of flavor and just tasted flat. If you wanted to get better taste the packaged snail noodles, this is unfortunately not the spot.

Yelp
Solid Chinese soup noodle place inside the President Plaza food court. This restaurant relocated here from a nearby strip mall. Parking is available in the nice large President Plaza parkade. Staff are friendly friendly and chatty. I had their Sichuan spicy pork noodle soup. Quite a nice kick to it, despite not looking spicy. Served with pickled vegetables. I also added a boiled egg. This place also serves steamed buns. Not the cheapest, but super tasty. Basically a giant xiaolongbao, and filled with the same delicious soup. I was happy. Would definitely eat here again.

Yelp
We ordered 2 noodle soups, one non-spicy and one mildly spicy. The non spicy broth still had a heat in it. The mildly spicy broth was medium spicy to me. The bowls looked small but the portion of the the noodle itself was pretty big. There were not enough garnishments as a result. In all a competent food stall to fill the stomach at lunchtime.

Yelp
Home of the "explosion pulp chicken", displayed prominently on one of the outside banners ... a permanent one, at that. Apparently it's a fried chicken breast(?) with cheese that oozes from the middle (explosive pulp) when you bite into it. Though I was very curious to try this strangely-named item, we opted instead for their more traditional dishes since it was our first visit. We ended up ordering the Guilin and Nanning noodles (#1 and #2 on the menu). Guilin noodles were dry style while Nanning noodles came in a sour soup base, similar to the Chinese sauerkraut fish dishes. Noodles were the standard "lai fun" used in these types of dishes. The soup had decent flavour and was a bit oily. Not sure if I'd go back for these selections, but I do want to try the explosive pulp chicken...
