New to the Bay Area and as southern belle I was truly impressed by the food along with the custom service. This establishment was family friendly. We came with our daughter and she had the mashed potatoes and chicken strips. Although not pictured, please take my word for it - She's a picky eater and she enjoyed their food! If you're ever in the area please check them out.

Service was great. Atmosphere was great. Food was delicious. The problem is my appetizer had a hair in it and the server took care of it. Then my entree had a hair in it, too. I didn’t even say anything because I didn’t want to be the “hair” guy. I didn’t take a pic of the appetizer hair(it was longer), but I took one of the entree

Google
What a lovely and cozy restaurant. Lovely warm ambiance and great service. The fried chicken and catfish were amazing, and I'd even come here just for the desserts. The restaurant wasn't too loud so it was easy to have a small group conversation and we were able to get seats on Friday night. Thank you CreoLa!

I'm staying down the street at the Hyatt Place and needed dinner nearby. I ordered the Crawfish and Prawn Etoufee and for desert the Silk Pie. I ordered it to go from their website and it said to pick up in half an hour. I arrived exactly half hour later and they were just boxing up my food. Nice! Unfortunately they did not have utensils for take out orders so that kinda sucked. Inside it was decorated like Mardi Gras and was very nice. The food was excellent and I ordered it hot and spicy. It was not really hot and spicy but it was still good. There was plenty of shrimp and crawfish and the gravy was super tasty. The desert was also great and left me satisfied. Support small local business rather than the big chain restaurants if you can!

The food was delicious! It was my first time trying Creole Cuisine, but it was worth every dollar! I ordered the short rib plate and my boyfriend got the shrimp etouffé By far the best!

Google
I am completely honest with my reviews so let me say the service and atmosphere is top tier however I can not say the same about the food. I like my food flavorful and the food had no flavor or even any seasoning. This is a creole /Louisiana restaurant yet there are no creole or southern people cooking which explains the lack of flavor. I am disappointed. I can’t lie. I wanted this restaurant to be a place that I can recommend and visit often however this isn’t a restaurant that caters to real southern people. The presentation is immaculate but you can’t taste looks. I hope this is helpful.

Google
Creola is a New Orleans style bar and bistro. We stopped here for a quick and early dinner and loved the food and ambience. Conveniently located on El Camino Real, with ample street parking plus a small parking lot. We ordered Hushpuppies and Shrimp Creola; both dishes were served piping hot and were very tasty. The shrimp were juicy and flavorful and came with a generous helping of rice. The ambience is quaint with soft jazz playing continuously in the background and southern style paintings / wall decorations. We got seating right next to the windows overlooking el Camino Real and that made the dining time more interesting, looking leisurely out. The staff were friendly and service was quick.

Yelp
Had the best Mother's Day lunch here at Creola! We were a group of 20 and they were able to accommodate all our needs. The crew were amazing! Service is superb!

Yelp
This place is just bad. But hipsters wanting to have a cosmopolitan life think eating at a Creole restaurant makes them enlightened and l accepting. The food is not anywhere close to being authentic and the service is horrible. 45 minutes to eat? No effing thanks. I Yelp curse you, please close your restaurant

Yelp
Creole, Cajun food was nowhere on my BINGO card for my recent trip to the Bay Area. Asian,, seafood, more Asian probably some Italian but nothing NOLA related for sure. God bless Yelp for finding this one for me which was close by to my hotel. Service was friendly and attentive. The place while large wasn't overly busy and two gents took care of the four parties seated. Starter: Cornbread. I liked the top but the bottom of the muffin was a little overdone like it had sat in the pan too long. Drink: I've only recently heard of it but I wanted to try a sazerac, the official cocktail of New Orleans. It was strong (Jim Beam Rye) and for those that like bitters there are two (angostura and Pechaud) used in their take. Pernod was used for the rinse. It was good but I think if I had something sweet to nibble on it would have been better. You don't have to even have me look at a menu if I'm in a Cajun/Creole restaurant. Jambalaya it is. The dish was fantastic with chicken breast and the rice, cooked perfectly, had ample pieces of andouille sausage and Tasso ham. Great rendition. My wife and daughter shared the fried chicken with sides of mushroom jambalaya and green beans. Since they were sharing I didn't ask for a bite but they seemed satisfied. My other daughter ordered the crawfish and shrimp etoufee. Good amount of both shellfish. It tasted great. If I had ordered that instead of jambalaya I'd be totally fine with it. For dessert we all had eyes on the house beignets with chocolate sauce. A bit of a miss there unfortunately. Like the corn bread I felt it was overdone. Not a fluffy. A little more of a stiff chew. The restaurant is clean and I liked all the dark wood. It is well lit with large windows and they liked to use mirrors as part of the decor lending to more brightness and creating more sense of openess. Solid find and would go back for the mains like the jambalya.

Yelp
A cute date spot with unique food. My husband and I visited on a Saturday night and had a fun time. I thoroughly enjoyed the pomegranate lime cooler, and the service was wonderful. The catfish was flavorful, as were the grits. My husband loved the fried chicken and mash potato. Definitely indulge in the beignets for dessert...yum!

Yelp
The food was mostly good but the serving of the food was sooooooo slow. Almost every table had to spend at least 2-3 hours for the meal.

Yelp
We came here for a birthday dinner and had very high hopes ! The interior is very cute and there were only a few other groups here and they were ready to leave. It took a while for them to get our order and each step from ordering to getting the food seemed to take a long time. Eventually our food arrived, one dish at a time. The soup and salad for mh friend arrived and they tasted very bland and flavorless. Then the fried chicken with green beans and jambalaya arrived and the fried chicken was ok. The green beans were mostly undercooked and only a few beans were almost cooked to perfection. The hambalaya was the most delicious part. They had forgotten about our hush puppies so my friend reminded them after we were nearly done with the meal. The hish puppies arrived and it was easily the best thing there. Not sure why they took a while despite us two being the only orders they needed to handle since the other groups in the restaurant all got their food far before we arrived and all left shortly after.

Yelp
Definitely a cute spot to try in San Carlos. I loved how bright and thoughtful the décor was. The service was not too bad considering they had one server for the time we were there. When asked about recommendations, the server didn't really have any answer (said everything was good) which wasn't a helpful answer. Luckily, we had already narrowed down some options to try. The food, for the most part, was great. I loved the hushpuppies and the corn bread for starters. I rarely see butter so nicely plated too which really got my attention. I got the fried catfish with the mushroom jambalaya and cream cheese grits as my main dish. I gotta say, I was a bit underwhelmed with the catfish. There wasn't enough seasoning for me. Also, the breading fell off the fish easily which added to the lack of seasoning when eating the catfish. My sides were pretty solid though. I loved the cheesy grits - definitely cheesy but didn't feel heavy. The jambalaya had great flavor. We ended with some beignets which came out so fresh and perfect and I liked having the option to dip into chocolate or caramel.

Yelp
The food was okay. I had higher hopes given the rating for the place. It's hard to compare when you've been to New Orleans before but this is my comparison to other creole/cajun places I've tried in the Bay Area. There are definitely better places that taste a little more authentic for a quarter of the price. I liked their hush puppies though! Service was good, the waiters were really attentive and friendly. Glad I got to try the place out.

Yelp
Legit New Orleans cuisine on mid-peninsula. Truest to real New Orleans cuisine that I know of in the Bay. Right off El Camino. Had birthday and anniversary dinner here but also will go for casual dining. They know what they're doing.

Yelp
Felt like I was back in NoLa! Had Shrimp CreoLa, excellent, and beignets, excellent. Excellent service and comfortable atmosphere. Will return!

Yelp
Came here this evening for the first time. Wonderful service. We started off with some hush puppies and the creole balls I forgot what they were called. Both were good but I do think their hush puppies were a bit tastier but that could be my own biased opinion because I love hush puppies. My partner had the andouille sausage with jambalaya and greens. She really enjoyed it. Our friends ordered the short ribs and fried chicken. They also both seemed to like the food. I ordered a bowl of the seafood gumbo. Everything was very good. Good chunks of crab. Shrimp were kind of small but no complaints because it was the perfect bite size. I do like that their gumbo wasn't extremely slimey but they did have okra which definitely added a good cut through the seafood. It came with rice and a side of cornbread. My only notes is I would have preferred more rice with the bowl of gumbo. Their drinks are hit and miss. The hurricane is good as well as the sazerac and French 75 but the old fashion was eh. Other than that our experience was wonderful. Will definitely come back again

Yelp
What a hidden gem in San Carlos! This place is so easy to miss on El Camino Real, my wife and I wish we knew about this place sooner. As soon as you walk in you get that New Orleans style feel. The black/white backsplash on the bar, multiple ceiling fans, wooden vaulted ceiling, etc. Our server was great and helped us decide on what to get based on his personal recommendations. Safe to say, his recommendations were on point! The food was delicious, my wife and I had to try almost everything on their menu! I had the fried chicken, very crunchy but still moist. My wife had the shrimp and crawfish étouffée, full of flavor and the seafood was cooked just right. Everything pictured was very very good and we can't wait to go back. Highly highly recommend checking this place out!

Yelp
We have been coming to this place for 3 years now . This time we were celebrating our daughter's birthday and she wanted some Creola for Brunch . We love the corn bread muffins I buy them by the dozen. Our favorite plate is the beef short ribs . Also the crispy boudin balls are so delicious , must try ! I tried Crawfish & Shrimp Etoufee for the first time and it was soooooo delicious!!! MUST TRY ! Trust me ! Funny thing is I don't do sea food, only thing I eat is (Peruvian ceviche ) , but I wanted to try something new and omg it's my new favorite plate , so tasty such nice delicious flavors I loved it . They are so nice , their service is so friendly and welcoming, she asked us where we would like to seat we were the first ones there . Also our birthday girl spilled her drink and the waiter was so nice and came to quickly help us clean it and remade her vanilla lemonade. It was great , thank you for such a great service and food . We really love this place ! Oh and we all love the music playing every time we come is very enjoyable to hear the instruments.

Yelp
A nice restaurant on El Camino Real. They have inside seating with a lot of tables near their windows. Outdoor seating is available as well. Decor is simple, yet homey. White walls with a lot of pictures, paintings, mirrors, etc. Smooth jazz music playing in the restaurant. They have one man and one woman's bathroom each; clean and spacious. The service was nice and friendly! My wife and I shared the following... Corn Hush Puppies: Fresh Corn Fritter, Remoulade Sauce. - Crispy, slightly sweet, but a bit dense. Side of Red Beans & Rice: smoky, with a delicious kick of spice. Side of Cream Cheese Grits - creamy, smooth, and buttery grits. Delicious! Shrimp CreoLa: Gulf coast shrimp, seafood stuffing, smoked tomato beurre blanc, steamed jasmine rice. This dish came with sautéed green beans. The shrimp was cooked perfectly. The stuffing was a medley of flavors. The portion was a bit smaller than I hoped. Cornbread muffin - moist, and slightly sweet. It was a good muffin. Abita Rootbeer: Sweetened with pure Louisiana cane sugar. I was intrigued because it must be popular in Louisiana. "The flavors of honey, vanilla, sassafrass, clove, and licorice are clearly discernable. There's a little bit of mint in the mix as well, but less than in most root beers."

Yelp
Went to Creola with the boy when we were in the area and so glad I finally got to try this place out! If you are looking for creole food this is a good spot for you. For a Sunday lunch, thankfully there was not a wait when we got there and we were seated quickly and given the menu. The ambiance is cute and it's nice to grab food with friends or a partner. We ended up ordering: * shrimp etoufe - this was delicious and flavorful and came with shrimp as well as crawfish. There was also rice that came with it as well as cornbread * fried chicken with mashed potatoes and jambalaya - this was also yummy and juicy and flavorful. The sides we picked were awesome with the chicken. This dish also came with au jus which was awesome * beignets - we got this with caramel and chocolate sauce. Overall yummy and flavorful as you'd expect My main qualm with this place is that the portions were small. It's definitely on the pricier side and portions were tinier, especially the sides. The flavors and taste is on point though. Overall it was a great experience, but I think worth giving larger portions would be nice for the price!

Yelp
We came on Friday evening when they just opened and were able to grab a spot without reservation. Staff was hospitable and humorous. As the night went on, the restaurant was bustling and full of patrons. Oyster en brochette - succulent oysters fried to perfection wrapped in bacon, pairs well with creamy remoulade sauce Catfish with remoulade sauce - I chose for it to be battwred and fried in cornmeal crust. Crispy batter that is not too heavy, still flaky and soft catfish. Love the side dishes of jambalaya and collard greens Beignets - small pieces of dessert delight, dip in caramel or chocolate sauce and it is a perfect way to end dinner

Yelp
Made reservations for 6 people on a Tuesday night. Called just a few hours before and it wasn't crowded. Only 2-3 other tables were dining during that time. We ordered the following appetizers: crispy boudin balls, corn hush puppies, cornbread, and the fried oysters. These were pretty good, I liked the cornbread and and crispy boudin balls the best. Wasn't the biggest fan of the fried oysters. For my entree I got the beer braised short ribs which comes with choice of 2 sides. For the 2 sides, I got mashed potatoes and cajun jambalaya. The short rib was great! It was tender and very easy to cut into. Cajun jambalaya was standard. Loved the mashed potatoes! They were super creamy and buttery but not too heavy either. For dessert, we got the beignets, French silk pie, and bread pudding (they were out of pecan pie sadly). I didn't get to try the bread pudding. I thought beignets were ok. French silk pie was delicious and definitely the star of the dessert show! Service was wonderful and food came out fairly quickly! Ambiance is very cozy and it was dimly lit at night with nice decorations - perfect for an intimate gathering.

Yelp
Loved everything I ate here! First time and definitely not my last. Service was quick and efficient, though they charged me for a beer that I never got. I originally asked for a skosh of one of the beers but I don't think the server understood me. We didn't bother to ask for a $7 refund for the beer, though. Aside from that, everything was great. Food was flavorful, had my first ever jambalaya here. I thought jambalaya was supposed to be extremely spicy but this was not! The blackened chicken was well-seasoned. Not pictured: beignets. Tore those up even though I was very full. Next time I'll try the etoufee! Inside of the restaurant was nice, too. Felt like I was being welcomed into someone's kitchen, very family-like.

Yelp
Amazing food! Came here on a weeknight with friends and got seated right away. Was excited to order right away because I've tried the one in SF and loved it! Ordered the crispy boudin balls, corn hush puppies, and cornbread and every bite was a delight! Everything was made perfect and the sauce was so good! Their corn bread was warm and light, wonderful! Ended up getting Anita turbo dog beef braised short ribs which was delicious! The meat falls off so well and it was so tender. Also ordered the gumbo, which was fantastic, especially on a cold night. Also ordered the Cajun jambalaya entree and is probably my favorite. Everything was made perfectly. Each entree came with a side or two, so we ended up getting the cream cheese grits, mashed potatoes, green beans with shaved garlic. Let me say the sides were excellent! Just woww! I had no words and still don't! To top it off, we got the beignets that come with two sauces (chocolate and caramel) on the side. Delicious! Great place for any occasion and will come here again!

Yelp
Of course we went to our fave Creole place last night. Of course, we did. And they were really sub-par. First the hostess couldn't find our reservation and if you know this place, it's booked solid so without one you aren't getting in. I told her I'd been getting res reminders daily and as recently as the day before. It had to be there. Nope. Lucky for me, I saw my own name because she wasn't budging. No apology. Anyone can get confused on a busy night. I'd say, "I'm sorry. There you are," was called for. The loveliest man, Angel, was our waiter. He was running like a mad man the entire night. Never without a smile and he was being called every which way. Angel delivered our appetizer and within two minutes the hostess delivered my dinner. Mine only. We were at a table for two so she had to shove my dinner on the table while we were trying to eat the most delicious empanadas. My husband's etouffee arrived about ten minutes later. He loved it. My fried chicken was good. I ordered grits as a side. I've Iived in the south. I love grits. I love 'em plain, and with cheese, instant or long cooking. I love grits. Not so much with cold watery grits rolling across my plate and into the other food on the plate. The beignet were acceptable. A little overcooked/over brown on the outside but hey, Mardi Gras. Busy. Understaffed. *I'm stretching here.* Tryin' to work with them but they just weren't making it easy. I'm not convinced we'll go back this time. If we do, it'll be 100% because of Angel who had a quip and grin for every table. We watched him. I don't have that kind of dedication but I'm glad he did. He made the evening. I hope management says thanks to him and pays his appropriately. Sorry to say, les bon temps did not rouler last night.

Yelp
Came here Friday and they opened at 5pm. It was just us and one other family and great service. A parking lot of its own and i didn't see anyone charging to park there They definitely were patient with my 90 year old grandma and all her questions. My grandma said it was the best catfish she's ever had in a restaurant, but wouldn't recommend the greens. I got the jambalaya blackened chicken breast with rice which was pretty good Definitely try the cornbread, one piece is not enough it's delicious Looked like a few people brought their own bottles of wine to enjoy as well. Lastly the chocolate beignets were the best I've had and I've been to New Orleans famous spots. My grandma said the pecan pie was good but tasted cold By 6pm it was a full house of people, come early

Yelp
Didn't really get a chance to order anything off the menu because when we were served our water, there was a baby roach frozen in the ice cubes of the Water that was for the table to drink. At first my niece thought it was a lemon seed but after close inspection it had antennas and legs. There was No Need to see the menu after seeing that. I called over the waiter showed him the roach water and we left! Sorry no pictures were taken. I guess you can say we were in shock because some people at the table had taken a sip

Yelp
I had no idea this place has been opened for several years now! My friend and I decided to try something new for the first time and found Creola on Yelp! We were a bit nervous as we came for dinner around 6:30 on a Thursday and it was completely dead (no customers) but we thought Heidi's might be slow so we should still give it a chance. What we ordered: Catfish with remoulade sauce (cornmeal crusted) that came with two sides so we chose mash potatoes and the wild mushroom jambalaya Short rib with two slides so we chose Cajun jambalaya and rice/beans. 3 pc beignets with choice of chocolate or caramel I think the catfish was the best thing cuz it was piping hot when it came out. The wild mushroom jambalaya didn't taste like your classic jumbalaya. It was still good but the flavoring wasn't what I was expecting. The mash potatoes were mediocre. Lacked seasoning and flavor since it was plan. The short rib was probably the most disappointing out of everything. It was kind of lukewarm and it lacked flavor. The meat wasn't tender either. The Cajun jambalaya was good but it was missing that kick of Cajun we were expecting. It was kind of on the sweet side. The beignets were good but I wished we knew we were gonna be charged $1.25 for getting both sauces. Not that it's a big deal but if you add an extra charge should probably ask the customers if it's ok. Overall it's decent but not sure if I would come back for food again. Like everyone said, the servers were nice and extremely hospitable but for the price of everything, I would rather explore other places.

Yelp
As a long time resident of San Mateo County, I'm sorry to say that I just learned about CreoLa. We went with some local friends for a joint birthday dinner and it was really delightful! I really can't say anything negative about it. The drinks, the service, the ambiance, the food - everything was spot on. Maybe they went a little bit overboard with the Valentine's Day decorations, but we really didn't care. Outstanding! I hope to go back again soon!

Yelp
We had a wonderful meal here last night with family. Service was friendly, welcoming, ambiance was nice and casual, food was delicious. Six of us shared a bunch of starters (4~5 stars) with some drinks: Boudin balls and Oyster Brochettes (x2) were really yummy, gumbo was hubby's favorite, hush puppies and corn bread were all fresh and tasty as well. Our main dishes were Short rib (x2) good flavor, meat was a little stringy. (3.5) Jambalaya entrée w/ large piece of chicken good/OK (3.5) Shrimp & catfish etoufee excellent ; my favorite (4.5) Fried chicken for the Kids (3.5) tried many of the sides i.e.. string beans, mash potatoe, red bean/rice, hoppin John and my favorite was the collard greens (~4) The beignets were pretty good. Service toward the end was very slow, we waited for quite a while to pay the bill and had to walk it to the cashier. We are very glad to have tried Creola, looking forward to coming back.

Yelp
Let me just begin by saying all of the items below: Hush puppies (9) Beef empanadas (9) Shrimp & Crawfish Etouffee (10+) Cornbread (complimentary) (9) Fried Chicken w gravy ( 10) Sides: Cajun jambalaya (8.5), rice and beans, cheesy grits (7 expected more cheesy), mashed potatoes (7.5- good and creamy) All amazing and delicious. Perfectly seasoned. No need for salt or even hot sauce. The chicken was lightly battered and crispy and the gravy was rich in flavor (I got extra). Good portions. Sides are shareable. The etouffee was the best of all. Winner! Seafood was fresh and not "fishy" or chewy at all! The sauce was sooooo flavorful- it was perfect! The best new orleans Cajun southern spot that ive had. Definitely recommend when In The bay! The drinks were made well For 2 people $140. Not too bad !

Yelp
This isn't one of those places that offers a great customer experience. I noticed that there wasn't any women wait staff, it was men...and they didn't greet us as we came in...in fact they walked past us several times before anyone even acknowledged us. Not big on being attentive either, thank goodness the food was good. Not very personable in the interactions we did have...it was almost like ordering take out while sitting in the restaurant! We actually witnessed a family come in, wait, get seated and then they left! Don't know that I will be back, maybe next time I will skip dining in and just order take out! It's really too bad, because I like their food alot!

Yelp
Tried this place today. The staff was accommodating and kind. We asked to sit outside and they were so gracious to place 2 tables together for me and my family. Honestly we got there right at 11 and they just mopped the floor so we opted for outside to avoid strong smells plus it was a nice day. We got quite the spread. We don't go to San Carlos often so we thought, why not? 1) corn bread - very basic but came out piping hot! Would love the option for jalapeño corn bread. 7/10 2) crispy boudin balls - these were so good! I wish they were bigger but they were seriously awesome. They were crispy, tender on the inside. It's pork belly and chicken livers but some home tastes like a crab cake? Sauce was awesome too. 9/10 3) fried chicken- seasoned well, tender and juice in the inside. 8/10 4) shrimp and crawfish etouffe - so yummy and flavorful. Had a nice portion of seafood and rice. Very filling. 9/10 5) shrimp CreoLa- I subbed rice for grits. It came with a seafood stuffing that I mixed in the grits. The grits itself weren't as creamy or cheesy as I liked to me but once mixed with the stuffing, it was great. Came with 5 shrimp, I wish they were bigger. But shrimp was tender and cooked perfectly. 8/10 6) begniets - fluffy, warm with 2 sauces. Wish they were bigger. 8.5/10 We were checked on many times. We were greeted with smiles. We felt absolutely taken care of and because of this, it's a 5 star rating. We will be coming back!

Yelp
Service is polite & consistent. Food is above average Louisiana fare - and priced fairly. Ambience is out of date Parking may be difficult.

Yelp
SO glad I got to visit CreoLa, as I've had it bookmarked for a few months now. Food: The food here is excellent. To start, I had the corn hush puppies (fried perfectly), which had a delicious sauce. Next, I ahad the cornmeal crusted catfish with green beans, mashed potatoes, and cornbread. The portion size was great. The food itself was scrumptious and each item was cooked to a T. To finish, I had some beignets with chocolate sauce; simple, and a nice way to end the meal. Service: The service staff are great. All very friendly and good with recommendations/explaining items on the menu/providing suggestions. Ambiance: Beautiful decor and homey! It certainly feels like there are dashes of Creole culture in the room with you, as you dine, which makes for an even more unique dining experience-- Creole food/culture is far and few in the Bay Area.

Yelp
First time at this cute New Orleans style restaurant and I had a great experience with my friends when we came for brunch on a Saturday! The place wasn't very crowded when we arrived at opening (at 11am) and there were only 2-3 other parties. It looks like they had a mini private event on one side of the restaurant and it was cool to see the type of events you could host at the restaurant. Be sure to ask for the brunch menu if you prefer brunch items! Even thought we went for brunch, we got the regular menu and didn't realize there was a different menu until someone in our group causally asked about it after we ordered. The brunch menu was short and simple and was pretty much similar items but with eggs or on omelette. Service - the staffs were all super friendly and helpful. We had to ask for the menus a couple of times and the staff was patient with all of our requests Food - we ended up order the hush puppies to share as appetizer, and I ordered the étouffée while may boyfriend ordered the catfish. For the hush puppies, it's hard to resist a fried corn bread with a good sauce! As for my étouffée, it was nice and creamy with a generous amount of shrimp and crawfish that I enjoyed it more than I thought I would. My boyfriend's catfish dish was super crisp and the breading almost just falls apart when you try to eat it, which was actually really nice. As for desserts, we ended up order beignets, combo pie, and pecan pie. My favorite was actually the combo pie. It almost tasted like peanut butter ice cream with chocolate. For beignet I liked it with the salted caramel sauce but felt that the beignet were just OK (a little over friend and bready for me). Overall I had a great dining experience place and would love to come back and try the dishes!

Yelp
Tried a Creol place to bring back the memories in NOLA. It was a decent place, but it was not like New Orleans. The best thing was the Gumbo which was rich in flavor and just makes you happy 8/10. The beef short rib had great flavor but was a little on the dry side 7/10. Wild mushroom jambalaya was really tasty, but didn't really feel like a jambalaya, but what can you do when you make it vegetarian 8.2/10. Corn bread was ok. Collards well...are collards. Ordered a fried chicken and it was nothing special and did not remind me of any fried chicken from the few months I worked in NOLA 6.5/10. Oyster PO boy was ok, was really heavily battered (yes I know it's suppose to be battered and fried) 6.9/10. They gave us a beignet for a birthday dessert, and again. It was fine, but a little flat and not very fluffy 6/10 ( have yet to find a good beignet in CA). Finally, the bread pudding, well if you didn't call it bread pudding I'd rate it higher. So the bread pudding pictured is the thing that looks like a flan, and it almost ate like one too. It was very jiggly and did not look like there was any bread in it. It tastes good, but when you are expecting bread pudding....6.5/10. Overall, the place has a comfortable atmosphere, and the flavors overall are decent. I'll probably come again and try some other things 7/10.

Yelp
Great gumbo! Tight seating. Beautiful decor. Good jambalaya. Juicy chicken. We made reservations and still received poor seating so definitely make reservations. Extremely slow and poor service. Will not be back, but worth a try. Thanks!

Yelp
This place is our "family" favorite. One of my posts was when we celebrated my daughter's 21st bday with food catered by CreoLa. Just recently we went to celebrate my daughters 32nd birthday... CreoLa has consistently stayed top of our families favorite over a decade!! And they NEVER disappoint! First - their SERVICE! AMAZING, ATTENTIVE and because we've been there a while we recognized each other immediately. So nice... Very friendly and warm... Their menu has changed a bit. Unfortunately they no longer server my favorite Wasabi Crusted Ahi - yes not necessarily New Orleans type food but nevertheless my favorite! HOWEVER - they now serve their PoBoys at dinner! WHOO HOO!! SO hubby and I had their catfish poboy and their fried oyster poboy! And it comes with their delicious hushpuppies!! AND of course we ALL had to get their house salad with goat cheese added. Their house salad has changed from the beginning of eating here changing out the mandarin oranges with poached pear but regardless - DELICIOUS and REFRESHING!! Oldest got the Catfish with cheese grits and wild mushroom jambalaya! She LOVED it and everything was so tasty together. Birthday girl had her all time fav - the Crawfish and Shrimp Etouffee... That's her go to all the time. The BIG chunks of crawfish and shrimp and then that sauce... so perfectly flavored. Sometimes when they have it - they'll pair it with a soft shell crab - that totally takes the dish over the top! But they didn't have it for this evening. OH I forgot - we had to have their corn bread sides... we totally devoured those little goodies!! AND we can't forget our favorite dessert! we ALWAYS get their bread pudding! I never knew that's how bread pudding should be. So much flavor with a light "pudding" on the bottom and the bread on top... We ordered two of those so we only had to share half! LOL... BECAUSE we also love their combo pie.. talk about having the flavors "sing" with all the right textures and flavors! ALWAYS a favorite!! Am so happy you guys are still here in San Carlos - and we will drive to you! Totally worth it! Here's to another decade of goodness!! :)

Yelp
Really great customer service here. The food on the other hand, was just average. The prices were a little bit on the higher side for what you get. The food also took a little bit of time to come out. Hush puppies: The sauce that came with this was really good. The hush puppies were good as well but I felt like it had a strong yeast flavor. Fried Chicken with Jambalaya and Grits: really really bad. The chicken was awful, and honestly the thigh didn't seem cooked when we took a bite out of it. The jambalaya was odd as well, seemed a little dry-seemed more similar to Cajun fried rice. The grits was actually really good. Shrimp and Crawfish Etouffe: This was good, but a little bland! I still really enjoyed this though, and the cornbread that came with it was good. Beignet: This was okay, it tasted really yeasty as well, kind of like it was made out of sourdough. I was a little annoyed that they charged us an extra $1.50 to get both sauces, especially since it came in a tiny condiment container. We asked the waiter if it would be an extra charge before ordering if we got both sauces and he said no. Would I come back? Maybe if I was in the area but I wouldn't go out of my way for it.

Yelp
very affordable and accessible cajun food in the san mateo area! usually, i have to go all the way to san francisco to get good cajun food, but this place was surprisingly good! they have a lot of great options at a great price point, and most of their entrees come with sides as well! the crawfish and shrimp etouffee was quite good! the hush puppies were perfectly crispy and decadent on the inside, but i wish they had given more sauce on the side. their cornbread wasn't anything special, but had a good sweet flavor. the fried chicken was literally SOOOO GOOOD ive never had fried chicken so crispy and crunchy on the outside and so moist on the inside like it literally started leaking juice when i first cut into it. most fried chicken is only flavorful on the outside, but this chicken was so tender and juicy even with no breading on the inside. it came with 2 sides - the jambalaya was very good and flavorful, but a little bit too salty, and the collard greens were very very sour. the beignets were pretty good, but not close to the best i've tried - they were not very fluffy on the inside and were a bit dense and doughy. i've heard good things about the tarts though! amazing service and great ambiance, lots of warm lighting and jazz music!

Yelp
Everything was just okay, although the vegan jambalaya was terrible. I was hoping for more, but nothing was really good. The beignets and hush puppies were just aight. I would choose another restaurant for dinner, but I'd might be open to trying brunch.

Yelp
Great service & the food was ok. I didn't get the creole vibe food wise for most of the food when it came to the flavor/seasoning. The food was good, but I can't say the flavor was there and that anything I had is something I have to have or will be craving. I expected to be hit with strong flavor and while the food was very well prepared and looked amazing, there was little seasoning with most of the food. I had the braised short ribs, Cajun Jambalaya, greens, oyster en brochettes, the large mimosa and bread pudding. Others in the group got Buttermilk fried chicken, Shrimp Creola, Shrimp & crawfish étouffée, crispy boudin balls and the cup of seafood gumbo. 2 of us had the Cajun Jambalaya and agree that it was delicious! The bread pudding was also really good too. The place itself is really nice and well decorated and could easily be fancy fine dinning if they decided. As I said the service was amazing and everyone very friendly so I have no gripes about service whatsoever. I may actually give them another try one day and sample the rest of the menu. I do believe this place deserves another try.

Yelp
The cornmeal-crusted catfish and shrimp/crawfish étouffée were really tasty, and I loved how packed the étouffée was with seafood. The jambalaya and mashed potatoes were spot-on, too. Everything came out super hot and fresh, which was awesome. Now, it doesn't quite hit the same level as the food in New Orleans, but honestly, it's the best we've tried in the Bay Area so far. The only downsides were that it took a while to get our food, even though the place wasn't busy and it was pretty pricey.

Yelp
This place is 5/5 from the service, to the ambiance, down to the food. We were seated quickly & our server was very attentive. Everything on the menu sounded delicious but we could only pick so many. Our main dishes were definitely the highlight, every bite was full of flavor & portioned correctly. I can't wait to be back to try something new.

Yelp
Was curious as to how Cajun food would be in San Carlos, California. My family is all from Louisiana so I had high expectations and they were definitely met. Service is excellent and the fried catfish is deliciously seasoned. The hush puppies, jambalaya and grits are all excellent as well. I've been twice in two weeks and expect to be back multiple times! Great ambiance, drinks and service and I definitely recommend to anyone in the area or looking for a good Cajun spot in the Bay Area

Yelp
Every once in a while you visit this restaurant, and it never disappoints. Bean and sweet potatoes soup, to the jambalaya, the étouffée to the bread pudding all delicious. Ambiance is nice service good and the Hurricane yummy. This is a great neighborhood gem

Yelp
Came here on a Tuesday night last week to celebrate my friend's birthday, with a party of 12, around 7pm. My order: a vanilla scented lemonade ($4.25), shrimp and crawfish Etouffee ($25). Also had hush puppies for everyone as an appetizer. Pros: - very cute vibes! the whole place was decorated with Christmas trees and really great lighting, I honestly felt like I was in Disneyland kind of? For our party of 12 they had us at a really long rectangular table near the window and near a bunch of Christmas trees, perfect birthday vibes for my friend! Would be a really cute date place as well. - The shrimp and crawfish Etouffee was really delicious - a lot of shrimp and the jasmine rice was really good. The portions were reasonable and I was full after I ate the whole thing. - All the workers were super nice, our waters stayed filled the whole night - Easy parking in the small lot right outside, it wasn't too crowded since it was a Tuesday night. - Broad dessert menu! Had a taste of my friend's combo pie and it was very tasty - all our entrée dishes came with a cute little cornbread side haha Cons: - You do have to put a deposit down for a larger reservation per my friend - not necessarily a bad thing but don't choose it if the plans are flexible TLDR: not a bad choice to celebrate a special occasion, especially because it's kind of hard to find cajun/NOLA style restaurants these days! I felt like I was transported back to Louisiana.

Yelp
I was craving fried chicken. After checking out the reviews and images on Yelp I decided to eat here with my wife. We both ordered fried chicken. We had jambalaya and hoppin' john for sides and they were both good. But the chicken was a big disappointment. It was a bit undercooked and seemed unseasoned at all. It would have saved us a lot of money if we just went to Popeyes.

Yelp
Having recently returned from a trip to New Orleans, my wife and I were desperate for some good catfish and po boys, and creola delivered! Surprisingly, their empanadas blew us away, which we did not expect. Amazing jambalaya too

Yelp
I ordered online for take out. I called to make sure the tartar sauce was put on the side and they were very accommodating. The food was ready at the exact estimated time. Inside there is a Louisiana theme. They had a beautiful collection of gold mirrors on the wall and a stone French creole motif decorated with Mardi Gras beads. There are a lot of windows for natural lighting and outdoor seating. I ordered the fried corn meal crusted catfish with two sides. The catfish was seasoned well and I enjoyed the grainy texture of the crust. I give the catfish 8.5/10. My first side was the mashed potatoes which were buttered to perfection. Personally, I did wish there was gravy. Mashed potatoes were 7.5/10. My second side was the Cajun jambalaya . The sausage was great and the flavor was there. The rice was cooked perfectly and great consistency. I wish they added some shrimp or chicken but it's still a good jambalaya. I give the jambalaya 7.5/10. The house-made tartar sauce was very flavorful, I give it a 8/10. I also ordered hush puppies. This was my favorite item there so far. Amazing texture and it was just perfect. Hush puppies 10/10. Overall experience was great! I would come back here again.

Yelp
Lovely meal. Attentive and courteous service. Great food. Nice atmosphere. Though the cornbread portions were the skimpiest this native-born Southerner has ever seen.
