Ordered Bacon Wrapped Oysters (Oysters’ en brochettes), Boudin Balls, Shrimp & Crawfish Etouffee, Catfish St. Charles, and 3 piece Beignets with Chocolate sauce. The bacon wrapped oysters were very delicious served hot. The bacon crunch was satisfying and the soft but firm oyster inside was very pleasant. The Boudin Balls are a must have appetizer with its pleasant blend of pork belly, rice, and chicken livers; these were a great start to our meal. The Shrimp and crawfish etoufee was a well-portioned and beautifully plated dish. The shrimp and crawfish were cooked well, and paired nice with their Creole Roux. The Catfish St. Charles was a very delightful flaky fish that absorbed some of the sauce. Both entrees had a side of corn bread which was quite good too. To end the evening, the Beignets were delicious powdered sugar treats and with chocolate sauce, was a wonderful topper. The atmosphere there was quite nice, you have the option of dining inside in their two floor setup or you can also dine outside. Do note they might not have heating for outside dining because they may run out of propane tanks as there may be some SF law about storing propane tanks indoors according to the staff. This is definitely a nice place for special occasions and to try a cuisine that isn’t already oversaturated in SF.

Food: 3/5 Service: 4/5 Ambiance: 4/5 Overall: There are very few southern places in town and this was pretty standard fare. The extended review… Food: Buttermilk Fried Chicken - 3/5 - The chicken was standard fare. What I loved was that you get two sides with the entree so I opted for two servings of Jambalaya which was standard fare was well. Service: 4/5 - Friendly service. Ambiance: 4/5 - Nice indoor and outdoor seating.

Google
Truly authentic and fantastic Cajun cousine. The mushroom Jambalaya is the best. Pillowy soft mushroom, complex and flavorful sauce reduction, and pleasantly crumbly corn bread. Pudding is great too. We were there in December and the restaurant was warmly decorated with Christmas ornaments --- feels like a cottage inn. Warm and lovely service too. The woman I was with, a delight.

Great service and space. The wheat beignets were delicious as well as the blackened catfish. Other dishes were fine but I would want to come back and try some of the other items in order for me to push the rating up.

Yummy yummy vegan options. Had the black eyed peas and sweet potato soup (4 out of 5), wild mushroom jambalaya (10 out of 5!), and a side of green beans (3.5/5) Should have gotten the larger dish of the jambalaya it was so delicious. I'm not super familiar with creole food, so can't speak to the authenticity, but it was delicious on it's own.

I wish we'd discovered this place years ago! Cajun Creole is my favorite cuisine and my husband is from Louisiana. There aren't very many places in SF serving Cajun Creole dishes, and we hadn't found anyone making them traditionally, which is what we want the most. So when we came here, we decided we needed to try the gamut: gumbo, éttouffée, catfish, red beans, jambalaya, and of course, beignets. We also got hush puppies because I can't resist. The hush puppies arrived first, served with remoulade, and I immediately knew we were going to have a good time. They were moist, perfectly crispy, and absolutely delicious. We thought the gumbo was going to be more of an appetizer, but this could easily be its own entree. It was excellent, and the roux was perfectly executed. It doesn't need it, but you should add the Crystal anyway. The éttouffée was next, and it was practically perfect in every way. Super flavorful, excellent spice, generous portions of shrimp and crawfish - it's hard to find a place outside of Louisiana serving decent sized crawfish, let alone plentiful amounts. This was our #1 favorite dish, and we would come back for this alone. The breaded catfish was delightful as well, excellent crisp and cooked just right. My husband said he'd definitely order it on a po'boy in the future. The red beans were very good, though we prefer a thicker sauce. Jambalaya is our least favorite Cajun dish, but CreoLa's was moist and flavorful, so we were pretty pleased with it. And finally...the beignets. We were quite satisfied by the amount of powdered sugar on top - other restaurants here do not put enough, there must be a small mountain. The dough was darker than typical, maybe with cinnamon or some more robust wheat flour? I liked it, but my husband was a bit let down, and he was offended that it is served with sauce. As is probably obvious, we had a fantastic time. The food was excellent, and we were very happy to see the many Abita options available. We look forward to many more visits in the future!

This spot had been on my bucket list for quite a while and I finally got a chance to check it out! First of all, major props to the owner, Edwin who I had the pleasure of meeting first hand. He was incredibly hospitable and warm as well as attentive to not only me but the other guests in the restaurant. He was also always on top of reservations and cleaning while making sure our orders were out in a timely Manor, and helping with customer's needs & accommodations. The food was amazing, I had Hush Puppies and Crawfish & Shrimp étuoffee. Which definitely satisfied my craving for creole food i had been having for a while. The ambiance is very clean and laid back, it almost hurt having to leave. ( could've also been everything I had ate ) But I can't wait to comeback and share it with friends and family. And those beignets are to die for. 😋

August 2022: Came here for lunch on a Sunday. Ordered the oyster brochettes to start. These were delicious oysters wrapped with bacon and deep fried. This was probably the highlight of the meal. Oysters were juicy and tasty and the breading was very delicate! Superb appetizer 👍! We shared a bunch of mains. Etouffee was my favorite. Nice shrimp stew over a bed of jasmine rice 🍚! We also tried the fried chicken 🐔 which was nicely breaded. The last entree was the fried catfish. This was okay. All the entrees needed a dash of crystal hot sauce. Sides we shared: jambalaya, collared greens, green beans, red beans and rice. All were good. Dessert included beignets and coffee ☕. Was okay because they were more bready than crispy. Service was great. Overall, rating five ⭐ for great oysters and top notch service. Would also come back for the etouffee. 👍

Yelp
Friendly wait staff, prompt service, comfort food, especially liked the shrimp and grits, good cocktails, nice atmosphere & convenient location.

Yelp
Very welcoming and helpful servers. The place is clean, the decor is homey with a bit of class and nostalgia. You'll know what I mean when you come :) The shrimp and crawfish etouffee is delicious and came out nice and hot! Collards greens are good. My friend said the wild mushroom jambalaya is flavorful and it's a huge portion. The beignets are hot pillowy goodness and came with a salted caramel dipping sauce and chocolate sauce.

Yelp
Located in a peaceful neighborhood 2 minutes from Golden Gate Park, CreoLa is a cozy two story restaurant with lots of natural lighting and beautiful interior. Everything from the decor to the bathroom is spotless and well decorated. The menu highlights Southern classics, such as catfish and crawfish. There is also a pretty extensive cocktail and drinks menu that come in the cutest glasses. I got the boudin balls, catfish st. charles, and the blackened catfish. The boudin balls were a 3/5 - crisp and served with a creamy sauce but the filling was not my style personally. The catfish st. charles was a 4/5 - the catfish was buttery soft and well seasoned with a buttery crawfish sauce. Very well portioned but the dish was a bit heavy so it would have been nice if there was more spice or a bright, tangy side sauce like sour cream. The corn bread that came with the dish was soooo good, which I was pleasantly surprised by because most restaurant side corn bread is dry and chalky. The blackened catfish was the star of the night. Seasoned to perfection, perfectly-cooked, and accompanied with cornbread and two sides you can choose from their whole side menu. Highly recommend as the all-around meal. Prices are also reasonable for the price and service is also super friendly although it's a one woman show.

Yelp
Mixed feelings about this place. I really like the cozy feeling and decor of this restaurant. They have both upstairs and downstairs seatings. Service was ok, but we waited a long time in between our appetizers and main dishes. We were a big group, so that could be the reason why it took so long for the kitchen to cook everything , but at the same time there were only one other table beside us, so why did it still take so long? Amongst all the dishes we tried, my favor were the mash potatoes, the red bean side order, hush puppies and boudin balls. Everything else were just ok, especially the jambalayas, we tried the wild mushroom one which barely have any rice, the Cajun chicken jambalaya were little lack of flavor. I don't really enjoy their gumbo, it has this off taste, not sure how to explain. Fried okra was not to my taste too, they chopped a bit too small and bit lack flavor.

Yelp
Brilliant first experience! I loved everything about this place - from the smell of NOLA when you first walk in, to the excellent food and service we received. The decor and music perfectly captured the NOLA vibe they were going for. BB

Yelp
Excellent excellent EXCELLENT Cajun restaurant! This place is pretty lowkey, even on the internet, and I've been curious about it -- was not expecting it to be so good. I ordered for takeout, but the restaurant inside is so beautiful and charming. Would come back to dine in. We got the brined chicken with sides, hush puppies, and gumbo. The brined chicken was probably the best fried chicken I've had -- juicier and saltier than Brenda's and it stayed crisp even in the takeout container. We got it with jambalaya which was super flavorful and tender, as were the collard greens. Cannot forgot the hush puppies, they were incredible! So flavorful and packed with corn and herbs. They came with a remoulade that had ground mustard which was the perfect complement. Would recommend the vanilla scented lemonade to wash it all down. I'm definitely going to be a regular here :) The service was warm, but they were a little confused about the order. May just be because they were short staffed, and it didn't change the experience at all

Yelp
Good southern comfort foods Fried chicken - great crispy well seasoned skin and JUICY MEAT mashed potatoes- thick, creamy and buttery, definitely one of the better ones I've had Jambalaya- standard Cornbread - definitely tastes like a boxed premix , just the texture of regular bread rather than the real deal Hush puppies- addicting Overall the food was great, service was nice and definitely the wooden feel to the room gave french quarter vibes, would recommend!

Yelp
So good! Had a reservation on the weekend and was seated immediately! We sat upstairs in a cozy loft area. We wanted to try a bunch of things so we got the Beef short ribs with the 2 sides, and the Shrimp and Crawfish Étouffée, both of which were great! The cream cheese grits weren't my favorite, but loved the cornbread and the jambalaya. The star of the meal was definitely the dessert for us - we absolutely loved the bread pudding and the beignets (especially with the caramel dip)! Can't wait to come back here!

Yelp
Came for restaurant week and had such a lovely meal!! Firstly, absolutely loved the interiors. The food was overall really good, with the highlight definitely being the hush puppies and the beignets. It was $65

Yelp
We went to this place on May. 3, most foods are okay. But they served us a burnt Gumbo, it is very bitter and smells like something scorched, very abysmal, we didn't finish the Gumbo because burnt food is carcinogenic. We told the waitress but she only offered to have it removed from the table but no compensation. I end up paying 100 bucks for this hopeless dinner. It is understandable to burn food occasionally, but is unacceptable to serve it to customer, and definitely unforgivable to offer no compensation. Will not come again, and suggest no one but masochist to eat there. Btw, the lowest suggested tip on therm POS is 20%, GO WITH CAUTION.

Yelp
Got the lunch special - Pear salad+fried chicken entree with the shrimp grits and jambalaya as sides + dessert. Was so satisfying for $28 Soup/salad + entree with sides (if that is part of the original menu option) + a beignet The lunch special allows you to sort of sample the whole menu at manageable portion sizes and left us feeling quite full. We needed a walk after :) Ambience was charming. There is a loft area where we were seated. Can't comment much on how busy it gets usually because we there on a random weekday afternoon and there was plenty of seating available. Service was friendly, pleasant and attentive. We had a really nice time and would come back.

Yelp
A creole gem near GG park. Stumbled across this restaurant and so happy we did. It's an adorable space with two levels and outdoor seating. It has great New Orleans vibes throughout. The Bourbon Street cocktail was really tasty. Definitely get the hush puppies to start! We got the crawfish remoulade and it had big chunks of crawfish in it. Really good. For entrees, the buttermilk brined fried chicken was excellent! We got jambalaya as a side and it was really yummy as well. The seafood etouffee was really good as well. We topped it off with a scrummy bread pudding and were absolutely stuffed.

Yelp
Been to the San Carlos location several times and finally visited this location to celebrate my mom's bday as she requested beignets. Made reservations and there was a $15/person deposit required for parties of 6+ with a $2.50 fee. Deposit is deducted from the total bill. We were seated promptly at an upstairs table. We started with bacon-wrapped oysters and cornbread. Had we known we would each get cornbread with our entrees, we would've ordered a different app to try. The oysters were ok but too much batter for me. Ordered the pear salad with goat cheese added - quite a bit of goat cheese which i liked. Salad dressing was good but the pears didn't have much flavor. I went with the cornmeal-crusted catfish, which is my usual go to. Loved the green beans, and the grits were creamy. Hubs ordered the fried chicken, which he said was juicy but too much batter. The jambalaya was a tad spicy, but good and we liked the collard greens. Mom ordered the short ribs, which she noted was tender but a bit dry. For her birthday, they brought her a beignet which she enjoyed. Hubs and BIL enjoyed the pecan pie - noted it wasn't overly sweet. The bread pudding is always a good choice. Just wished they had the combo pie like at the San Carlos location - my fave dessert. Service was good, overall, and Mom enjoyed her birthday dinner.

Yelp
Overall good food and cute space! The chicken jambalaya was my favorite dish - good seasoning with a bit of kick

Yelp
Wife and I checked out CreoLa for dinner on a recent visit to San Francisco. The ambiance and vibe in the restaurant were amazing. They did a great job with decorating! We got a table for two right by the window, perfect spot! Service was absolutely impeccable from start to finish. The food was very good but to be honest I was slightly underwhelmed by it. Very good, but not the best meal we had this week so I have to rate 4.0 stars. We started with Hush Puppies and Corn Bread. Both were good but we're quite dry which was disappointing. My wife got Wild Mushroom Jambalaya and I got Shrimp and Crawfish Étouffée. Our entrees were excellent. I thought the Étouffée could have had more flavor but there plenty of shrimp/crawfish which was good. Wild mushroom jambalaya was spot on. I tried a few bites and it was excellent. Finished out with Beignets and Bread Pudding. Both desserts were superb. Bread pudding was highlight of the meal for me. Overall a great spot with very good food. I'd definitely eat here again, and recommend checking it out!

S K.

Yelp
Great atmosphere, friendly staff, excellent food quality. Service was slow for dine in considering there were not many people. The etoufee is the closest I've tasted to the real thing outside of New Orleans. Would return.

Denise D.

Yelp
Had a wonderful brunch/lunch at Creola. It was a great experience. Very good service and I loved the atmosphere, very friendly and warm. The food was quite tasty. The cat fish was my favorite. I am already planning to return.

Yelp
Came here with a reservation on a weekend for lunch. Very cute restaurant with a second floor, which gives more privacy. The menu is similar to the one in San Carlos (I went there for the first time last year I think). We got the wild mushroom jambalaya (love the corn bread!!!), crawfish etouffée, the croquette that has chicken liver (very yummy with the paring sauce), as well as rice and beans for the side. Service was really nice too, and the store location is just a block or two away from golden gate park. Parking is not the easiest to find, but we had a nice walk in the park afterwards!

Vicky J.

Yelp
Delicious and great service (just two waiters when we were there who were also serving as the bartenders!!) our waiter so attentive and nice - we came on a Thursday night and the space is cozy and has an upstairs with more tables. We made a reservation online for 5 but for 6+ it requires a $15 deposit per person. Drinks were delicious I got the hurricane (rum cocktail) which tasted rlly yummy! We shared some crispy boudin balls and they were crispy indeed (the exterior at least, inside the balls was a hot mushy mix of pork belly and liver) served with a sauce that had mustard and other spices. I got a gumbo and a side of jambalaya. The jambalaya was ever so slightly spicy in a very good way and all the food came out hot and amazing. Great portions. My friend got the sausage which was huge and the mash potatoes were so creamy!! 10/10 would come here again!

Freddy C.

Yelp
When you're looking for someplace to grab the attention of your pallet and taste something with spices and flavors, be a little adventurous and give this place a try. When you first walk in to this place, you noticed that there is two levels and this place is very cozy and they have a New Orleans style of music playing in the background . This place is a go to when you are in the mood to have some fun and enjoy a wonderful meal. This place will make you wanna come back over again. My wife and I will definitely come back here again and explore other options of food that they provide here.

May L.

Yelp
A really nice brunch spot in a fancy renovated home. Serving southern NOLA soul food. Came here for restaurant week, and was pleasantly surprised by how beautiful the inside was. Service was great and food was delicious. Highlights of the meal were definitely the hush puppies, beignets, and bread pudding. Hush puppies: 10/10 So soft and had a sweet corn filling on the inside with a crispy outside. The dip was a tangy mustard sauce. Crawfish: 6/10 Pretty salty and difficult to eat. But I'm not a crawfish fan in general. Fried chicken: 8/10 Chicken was warm, tender, and juicy. Perfect breaded crunchiness on the outside. Cornbread on the side was sad and dry. Tasted stale. Rest of the dish was amazing though. Shrimp and grits: 7/10 Shrimp was so rich, just wish there was more meat. Beignet: 9/10 Warm chocolate filling in a soft bread pouch, topped with powdered sugar. The chocolate and caramel dip on the side was amazing. Bread pudding: 10/10 Incredibly soft and moist. The bread is marinated in a creamy custard that almost melts in your mouth. My favorite.

Samantha L.

Yelp
Come for the small dishes and beignets, you can skip the entree. Dishes: -Boudin Balls: the best dish we tried -Hush Puppies: very good, same sauce as the Boudin Balls. -Gumbo: flavorful! -fried chicken: you get 2 pieces of moist fried chicken + 2 sides (mashed potatoes and Cajun jambalaya). The chicken skin didn't have much flavor but cooked cheese and was over cooked. The jambalaya was on the drier side. Overall, would skip this entree -Shrimp and Grits: simple, nothing impressive -beignets with chocolate: delicious, can't go wrong here Logistics: -street, metered parking only -accepts card -plenty of seating and can fit a large party -it's COLD in there, recommend bringing a sweater and ask to sit away from the door since it doesn't shut all the way

Dan S.

Yelp
This was a great place for upscale, authentic Cajun food. The menu has all of the highlights of Cajun cuisine, from mains like crawfish etouffee to desserts like beignets and pecan pie. Even the beer and root beer are from a New Orleanian brewery, which was impressive. The restaurant is decorated in a classic Southern style, and the location of the place is very convenient, with a public parking lot right across the street (You do have to pay, but it's not outrageous). I'll also add that you can tell that the staff cares very much about their customers (I saw the manager/owner instruct a couple of her employees to help an elderly lady out to her car at the end of lunch, so kudos there).

Amy W.

Yelp
The very definition of a hidden gem. I found this place on Yelp and my friend made a reservation for 6 people (they DID require a "deposit") This place has limited indoor seating due to the super cool 2 story layout. Kinda a small dining room on main level, then a balcony of seats on floor 2 that surrounds the dining room on 2 sides. Our table of 6 was all by itself on the right upper level- so perfect for us to all catch up with each other. Our FANTASTIC waiter Frederick was friendly and attentive, I wanted a lot of ice, he brought us 2 pitchers of ice! We ordered drinks (note that due to them only have a wine/beer license, their "cocktails" are made with low-proof rum or vodka.) We ordered some fried okra and some corn muffins to start and share. The okra comes with a snappy dipping sauce. (Note the corn muffins are pretty small). I ordered the fried chicken (leg and thigh) with Jambalaya and the collard greens. My man had the short ribs with red beans and rice and cream cheese grits. Both entrees were heaven, but the fried chicken is one of the top 5 fried chicken dinners in SF. Very crispy and not greasy. For dessert we split all three dessert offerings: a steamed white chocolate bread pudding, pecan pie and the beignets. Of the 3 we all enjoyed the bread pudding the most. Note there is a $26 lunch special we all agreed we wanted to come back for - which includes an appetizer a entree and a dessert. (If I am remembering correctly)

Karen Y.

Yelp
Ended SF Restaurant Week by dropping by this restaurant for brunch/lunch. They had a $30 lunch with one appetizer, one entree, and one dessert. Decided to opt for the Crispy Boudin Balls, Buttermilk Brined Fried Chicken, and Beignet. Crispy Boudin Balls (2 pcs): love the crispiness of the exterior which contrasted nicely with the rice filling. Also could just eat that remoulade sauce on its own. Buttermilk Brined Fried Chicken (1 pc): pretty large drumstick and I got this with a side of mashed potatoes, green beans, and cornbread. Mashed potatoes were creamy and the green beans had a really great snap to them. The tiny cornbread muffin had great texture and had pieces of corn. Beignet (1 pc): tiny beignet with some salted caramel and chocolate sauce on the bottom of the plate. Really crispy beignet exterior and doughnut-y interior and it was a WARM beignet!! So good. The sugar just melted. Service was pretty quick. Not sure if you could pay with cash as the host carried around a card reader and they brought that to us to pay for the meal. They took away our empty plates pretty quickly whenever we finished a plate and asked throughout the meal if everything was okay. Hope to go back and try some of their other items like their gumbo and jambalaya.

Angie Y.

Yelp
We came here on Saturday for restaurant week. It was a lot fancier than we expected and the interior was giving traditional Southern abode. We ordered the hush puppies and crawfish appetizers, the shrimp and grits and fried chicken entrees, and bread pudding and beignet for dessert. The hush puppies were really amazing; it had a crispy exterior and was soft and flavorful on the inside with real corn kernels. The sauce tasted a little like a tartar sauce: creamy, and a little on the sour side. It paired really well with the fried hush puppies. We had never really eaten crawfish before, but it wasn't bad, a little on the salty side. Both entrees were delicious. The shrimp and grits had a savory sauce and the grits were creamy and yummy as well. The fried chicken was also very tender and crunchy on the outside. The mashed potatoes and green beans were also really tasty. The cornbread was disappointing though, really dry and crumbly... The beignet was delicious, crispy outside and soft inside. The caramel and chocolate sauces were also really yummy, and the chocolate wasn't too sweet. The best part of the meal, however was the bread pudding. It came out warm and it was soft and creamy without being too heavy. Aside from the cornbread, everything was quite good, and the service was also very nice!! For restaurant week, it was $30 per person for lunch, and we paid around $80 including tip.

Cherlyn M.

Yelp
Omg how have I never been here?! Every dish was an absolute treat! I haven't been back to NOLA in a while and whew - this place brought me back!! The restaurant itself is so cute - decor makes you feel at home and I esp love the crown detail at the door. Def a must visit!

Tiffany P.

Yelp
I enjoyed the vibes of this place. It was decorated nicely for the holiday season. The food was decent. I'm not sure if anything stood out so much that would make me come back. Fried okra appetizer was good, great plate to share. The shrimp Po boy was decent. The portion was pretty large, and I only had half and took the rest to go. And it comes with a side salad which is nice. Overall, the mains were good, but not great. Beignets with a salted caramel sauce and the bread pudding were both great dessert options. I would recommend these.

Johnny W.

Yelp
Summary: Tasty Southern comfort foods Details: * Good selection of Southern food, with a focus on seafood dishes * Everything aside from the beignets (which were a bit denser than we liked) was pretty tasty, with the fried okra, catfish St Charles, and etouffee being particularly tasty * Outdoor seating is uncovered, but is heated Accessibility: Outdoor seating is quite accessible, and while there are steps to get in the front door, they have a more accessible entrance to the side for those who want to dine indoors

Jessica W.

Yelp
Visited here during their SF restaurant week so got their 3 course set for lunch. The corn hush puppies are my favorite! They have really nice crispy layer outside while the inside is very fluffy. The sauce they made really made them shine too. I got the buttermilk fried chicken with mashed potato and collared greens. The fried chicken was nice and crispy. But the mashed potatoes actually really stood out to me because how creamy and flavorful it is even though it didn't come with any gravy / sauce. My partner got the wild mushroom jambalaya. It has a really nice aromatic, savory taste. We really enjoy it too! Lastly, we had the beignets. They have a nice texture, but lacks a little bit in the flavor, wish there's more sauce on the side for dipping. Overall, I think the food was good and the SF restaurant week deal was pretty worth for trying these varieties. Took us a bit to find parking in that area though.

Yelp
My friends and I found this place in a whim in noe valley. We came in around 11am on a Saturday and were seated (party of 4) immediately. I had the eggs with grits and blacked shrimp. The cream cheese grits were lacking flavor, but acted as a good base for the blacked shrimp which is where all the seasoning on the plate was. The shrimp were nice and tender, not large nor small. Like 4 20/lb shrimp. The cornbread was very dry. I also tried the jambalaya and the gumbo. I usually love gumbo but the jambalaya was the star at our table. The portions were small...especially for the price, more like fine dining than southern brunch. I guess our expectations were not met. Each of us had entrees and shared 4 sides ordered separately. I was still hungry after we left. I tried the vanilla scented lemonade and I was hoping for something more, I guess... I would have asked for more sugar but never got around to it. I wouldn't try this again. Service was nice, the dining room filled up as we ate, it seems more of a lunch place than brunch. It was cute, but seems quite small. I guess get there early for seating?

Rosie M.

Yelp
I had such high hopes for CreoLa. We walked in for brunch and ordered the Crawfish Beignets, Simply southern, regular Beignets and cafe au lait. They seated us at the top floor which was nice because it was away from the cold door and gave us more privacy which was also nice. Unfortunately, being on the top level, you can't get service often so we never had our water glasses refilled because they never came back up until the end when we were getting ready to leave. The crawfish beignets really didn't have a memorable flavor. I was hoping that they would be as good as Brenda's in Oakland but they don't even compare. The boudin balls were not greasy which was great but you couldn't taste all the goodness inside. The short ribs were tough in the middle but the grits and scrambled eggs were fine. The restaurant is very cute, and we were lucky enough to find parking right outside. I would come to try the grits again.

Eunice T.

Yelp
Came here with my friends for lunch during the SF Restaurant week. It's a cute little restaurant at the corner of the intersection. There were still quite a few people there at 1pm on a Saturday. I got the seafood gumbo as my appetizer and the shrimp & crawfish etouffee as my entree. The pre fix menu included a piece of beignet as dessert. Seafood gumbo - I've had better. There weren't much of that Cajun kick. Shrimp & crawfish etouffee - my first time trying etouffee so I don't have anything to compare it with. The stew/sauce it came with was on the sweet side. It was decent, but not mind blowing. The corn bread (?) it came with was pretty good though. Beignet - my first time having a fresh beignet. It was soooo good. Perfect sweetness & texture. I loved the sugar powder they used too, but that was prob just genetic powder lol. Overall, 3.5 stars. I wouldn't go out of my way to come here, but if you're in this area and craving dessert, I'd recommend giving their beignet a try. Rounding it up to 4 stars for the cornbread and beignet.

Yelp
Now this is a different spot. the ambience gives off a older rustic look. the jazz music makes it a nice vibe . Our server, Zoey was wonderful & her Service was outstanding. To start out with drinks, we ordered a bourbon street and a glass of Cabernet. for appetizers we had the Boudin balls, bacon wrap oysters, which were a little undercooked the bacon it wasn't cooked all the way properly. It was still raw & the cup of jambalaya was a little bland. I had the boneless short ribs for my entrée with jambalaya cornbread and a side of butter mashed potatoes was so delicious . And the shrimp and crawfish étouffée. That dish was delicious. Service was spectacular. And the food was great

Yelp
Love this bright corner spot serving up elevated Nola cuisine! Really cute space, would be a great spot for a private party. Fantastic chicken jambalaya - I've never had the pleasure of a whole piece of chicken in my jambalaya let alone one soooo juicy. Friend got the mushroom jambalaya which looked good too, and she cleaned her plate. We tried the boudin balls (delish - and yes you can taste the liver) and oyster brochettes, both of which I'd recommend. Was a little meh on the hush puppies (give me more corn!) and beignets (I expected lighter - these were quite dense). Then the fried okra was maybe just a little too much fried food with remoulade you know? Staff was lovely and really busy. FYI they do charge you a deposit for reservations so make sure they subtract that from your final bill!

Yelp
CreoLa was a beautiful splash of color and flavor in the middle of the workweek, when I visited SF in July. It's one of the *few* times where I'll admit that my environment was so comfortable and rich (piano music, large windows for people-watching) that I didn't mind the speed of service---mind you, it wasn't slow, but it wasn't speedy. However, this is likely due to the fact that the food is made with ingredients that are quality, and taste+feel incredibly fresh. I definitely got the sense that my food was made to order. Be on the lookout for lunch specials that allow you to sample a bit of everything. I definitely could have done that (eg. that day, they were serving pre fixe lunched with your choice of entree). I opted for a gorgeous catfish po'boy, because that Cajun-style fish is so flavorful. Perfectly crispy, sandwiched between perfectly soft and buttery French bread. The kind you expect to cut into your mouth, but this one didn't. I also shared in the Cajun jambalaya, and just look at that color. Spicy, salty, right where my heart needed to be that afternoon. But despite the generous portions, we always have room for fresh beignets with caramel sauce. From the entrees to the piping-hot pastries, CreoLa was dripping with decadence and sheer experience. Definitely give it a try, and always leave room for dessert.

Yelp
I went for SF restaurant week and got their lunch menu. I often find that SF restaurant week is really worth it. Usually it's smaller portions, or the same food bundled together into a pre fixe menu and more expensive. I had previously been to CreoLa and really enjoyed their food so I decided to visit again. I got the cornmeal crusted catfish, which comes with two sides. The catfish pieces were huge. The crust was perfectly intact and wasn't soggy. It didn't feel greasy either even though it was deep fried. Highly recommend order this. The beignet was fresh and hot. More doughy than other beignets that I've had, but still good. The vegan soup was the most disappointing because it was just black eyed peas and green beans (which I ordered for my sides). Nothing special about it. The service was pretty good. We were seated on the second floor and the staff would come and check in on us from time to time. The restaurant itself is very cute and definitely had some New Orleans vibes. If they played jazz music that's be the cherry on top.

Yelp
Loved the food here. Really great fried chicken, jambalaya, and mashed potatoes. The grits weren't amazing, but overall super good food!

Yelp
My first time here and I enjoyed my time. The place is super cute felt transported to NOLA. I have to say one of the best fried chicken I've had, lots of flavor in their brine and batter, juicy dark meat, super crisp batter. The etoufee didn't disappoint, inn vm listened to the past yelpers for that suggestion. My highlights, hush puppies, fried chicken. I think I can pass on the oysters next time, the bacon was a bit soggy so that ruined it for me. And one more thing the bathroom was very homie feeling haha nice touch with the apple cider candle.

Yelp
Had a wonderful dinner out at CreoLa! Planned a day trip with some friends to Haight Street and heard about CreoLa from a friend! We enjoyed a nice meal inside and enjoyed the nice ambience and views of the park by the window. Service was wonderful, and the food was delicious and authentic. I enjoyed their corn sangria and the shrimp and grits was exceptional! Highly recommend checking out this spot, they also had a great & reasonable wine list to pair with the food. Great spot!

Yelp
The chicken was perfectly fried: seasoned just enough and not too salty. It was so juicy. The red beans were delicious. The jambalaya was perfectly seasoned. Service was excellent. The only meh was the cornbread because it was a bit too dry. I plan to got back

Yelp
I really wanted to like this pace. We are in need of good creole cuisine. Unfortunately they were having a private party that night. We sat outside, but I think you miss out of the experience. The smells of all the food. The feel of the place. All missing. The food looked alright, but lacked the outstanding taste. I had the shrimp and grits. I normally love this dish. This just didn't grab me. My friend had the Shrimp & Crawfish Étouffée that was slightly better. The cornbread was wonderful! I could have eaten a whole plate of these! And it didn't even need the extra butter, yum!

Yelp
Eggs Benedict with crab was lacking. No garlic toast , just eggs, no sauce just a small amount of crab that contained shells! The potatoes were not worth eating. Small and hard. Service was good. Cute place. Will not return.

Yelp
Very good food. Great service. New Orleans decor. It very much reminded me of a french colonial home. They have a everything from gumbo to fried chicken. We ordered hush puppies, bacon wrapped oysters, etoufeé and beignets. Everything was delicious.

Yelp
My son and I had a cute lunch date. The service was really great. Two server came to make sure we got a seating. Our own server came and checked on us multiple times to make sure The food are amazing. Perfectly cooked and taste to perfection. The chicken in the Cajun jambalaya was so moist and taste was just right. My son loves the fried chicken and the mash potatoes was very buttery.

Yelp
This was my 2nd visit here. Over a year ago, I dined with friends here and did not bother to comment. But after last night, I asked myself, "Did they change ownership?" Service was exceptional, and the portions and food were outstanding. And no, I believe it's the same owner. I asked the server if anything had changed. He commented that they are always striving to improve. IMHO, they have IMPROVED! All of my other 3 eating companions gave their meals a 5 star thumbs up. I ordered the fried chicken (thighs) with 2 sides (jambalaya and beans/rice). The chicken had a beautiful crust with a moist inner meat. The jambalaya and rice/bean sides provided a lingering spiciness that honored NOLA's reputation. We also shared a hush puppy appetizer. I should have ordered one just for myself. So good! Cannot wait for my next visit.

Yelp
EDIT: The $7.50 SIDE CUP of jambalaya (side, as in not the full entree) at BRENDA'S is the same amount of jambalaya served as a $23 entree at Creola. Still packed with all the meats.

Yelp
Delicious NOLA type cuisine. Beignets are a must! Bring friends to try multiple dishes.
