"Look down as you enter to see the tiles embedded in the sidewalk from when this French Quarter storefront said “Angelo Brocato.” Indeed, this charming space with a hidden courtyard once belonged to Angelo Brocato’s, the city's most beloved gelato and cannoli maker. Aside from tarts and mousses, traditional French baked goods include quiches, and of course, croissants. Sandwiches are also available." - Eater Staff, Clair Lorell

Such a great little spot for pastries and such! I usually enjoy an almond or classic plain croissant most, but my husband's apple croissant was one of the best pastries I've ever had. Actually remarkable. The ladies that helped us were very sweet and the courtyard dining area was idealic.

Love this place. The food and coffee are fantastic. The croissant was one of the best I’ve ever had. We came here twice and got a few different pastries, everything was really good. I highly recommend trying this place out!

Croissant D'Or Patisserie is a gem! I had the daily special which included sunny side up eggs, sautéed potatoes, and the best croissant I've ever had. It was so delicious we returned the next day. The pastries are delectable and not overly sweet. Everything paired well with the great coffee. We especially loved the cheesecake that was topped with some sort of cream or custard that blew our minds. This patisserie is not to be missed. Hats off to the owner and team!

I really enjoyed my stop here on a mid Sunday afternoon during my visit. It wasn't too crowded during that time and was relaxing. I'm sure it would get busy and pack but definitely a nice relaxing Sunday lunch time with my experience. I only stopped by for mini post lunch dessert for a cortado and their Marjolaine pastry, a merginue and hazelnut cake, layered with butter cream and chocolate ganache. The service was wonderful, and the people who rang me up were friendly. The decor gives a French country kitchen that's bright and vibrant. They also have a cute patio. I definitely want to come back here for their sandwiches.

Classic cafe in the French Quarters open for breakfast and lunch offering a variety of french and local foods. Yummy croissants and Very good coffee. Onion soup is just ok. The bathroom is in dire need of renovation

Google
Such a beautiful French cafe/patisserie. I've been several times before but not in several years. I had not been hanging out in the quarter much during daylight hours even though it's the best time. I was passing through on my way to pub crawl down Tchoup and needed to start off correctly with some breakfast. A croissant is a must, plain or flavored you can't go wrong. Other than that come in with a budget or a quantity limit cause everything looks so good. Things can quickly get out of hand if you're not careful. I went with a plain butter croissant and the fruit tart. The croissant was everything you'd expect. Rich, buttery, flaky...all the adjectives. And then the fruit tart, like whoa. Same list of French adjectives, just with fruit on top, and not too sweet. Seriously perfect, almost made me wish I drank coffee. They do serve hot breakfast, eggs, meats, potatoes just more fancy. And being a cafe the caffeinated beverages are really good, I do wish they served loose hot tea instead of bagged and/or had green tea flavors I like. But you can always do what I did and walk around the corner to the lantern for a bloody to start your day the New Orleans way. It's large with plenty of seating although they will still fill up. It's currently too hot to make use of their courtyard which is pleasant with the right weather.

We didn't know how to pick just one! We ended up with only 5 items lol. The carrot cake was so moist and the frosting was delicious! The Croque Madame was incredible! Everything was so delicious that we tried! Service was fast and the lady behind the counter came to open both doors for my sister and her walker. FYI nothing in New Orleans is built handicapped accessible, but almost everywhere has a ramp upon request! Or they were all extremely nice and helpful my sister and I into buildings!

Google
Beautiful and quiet place for a coffee in the middle of a busy and loud party city NOLA. The lady in the cashier (shown in the pic) is also a pro! She didn’t stutter when she repeated my complicated order 😅 she’s a gem in this place

VIC M.

Yelp
Yay! The chocolate pistache pastry is so sumptuous and tasty. Starting with the hard chocolate coating, the inside has a light whipped cream, then thick, sweet mousse on a bed of moist, very chocolate cake. I also had the rum raisin brioche where the dough is like a luxurious sweet bread.

Dawn V.

Yelp
I've wanted to try this place for so long but it was so disappointing- I ordered a croissant with egg & cheese (see pics- you can actually see disappointment) Subpar at best & quite $$$ but that's the location - I came from uptown (so Boulangerie, Lagniappe Cafe, Gracious...) but will travel to Ayu Bakehouse for their awesomeness- but d'Or just isn't a fantastic croissant If your a tourist stuck in that area, go to French Toast but it is cool to see the old "Ladies Entrance" from Brocato days The man that made the coffee drinks was vey friendly- the young woman at the register seemed unhappy to be there & discourages joy Brought the "mouse" pastry home so the cream would be room temp when I tried it and I threw it out - pastry base was mushy and tasteless

Thomas M.

Yelp
I wonder if the prices on their online menu is up to date. I had French toast and coffee. Total bill $16.45. Per online menu, French toast $9.00, coffee $3.25 +10.25% sales tax. Just doesn't add up. I had different breakfasts this past week and had the same feeling. The staff at the counter are pleasant and efficient. The bakery has an Old World ambiance which I enjoy.

Annie L.

Yelp
Despite the intimate interior and family-run vibe, this spot is mediocre at best when it comes to the food and coffee. My avocado toast was incredibly overpriced for what can best be described as undertoasted grocery store white bread with unripe avocado, a few slices of tomato and a handful or arugula. My latte was cappuccino in size and dwarfed by my partner's mocha. We should have expected as much trying to find food so close to the heart of the tourist scene. I'd stray further off the beaten path if you're looking for higher quality bites!

Anokhy D.

Yelp
We came in after being recommended this cafe as a must-try in NoLa and it was unfortunately overrated. Most tourist destinations can understandably be overhyped and I think this places falls into that trap. We got a cafe au lait (the big portion was nice but it tasted burnt), the marjolaine (driest meringue and flavorless buttercream), and an almond croissant (good flavor but had a stale texture). Its one saving grace was the peaceful outdoor patio with a trickling fountain and tons of greenery. We were there on a weekend morning and it was still very peaceful.

Paola F.

Yelp
If you are trying to get away from the vibe of the French quarter this is a nice spot to have breakfast/brunch at. It's small and very welcoming. It has kept its design and French design inside the shop. They have a patio area you can go have your breakfast. The avocado toast did not make it to the picture, it was gone just like that. Presentation and flavor were the best. Buttery croissants as well. I'm not picky but I am if that makes sense, as my first time in New Orleans/french quarter this spot was a breath of fresh air for me compared to the rest of the area.

Cassy B.

Yelp
Skip it. There's so many better places around the area. Come for the coffee if you're in the area and need it. I stopped in for a croissant and a black iced coffee. The coffee was great but the croissant is an essentially a dinner roll. The staff is friendly and the place itself is nice. Maybe their breakfast plates are better but don't come here in search of an authentic French croissant.

Josephine O.

Yelp
Croissants were good but place was dirty and run down. No real table service. Order at the counter and wait for your food.

Mansi S.

Yelp
Hmm this place might be one of those local favorites that gets a great rep but in reality is like eating over priced grocery store level baked goods. I tried a Greek salad and an almond croissant. Both left much to be desired and were not worth the money spent. Others in the group got sandwiches which they liked but were bummed they were told they didn't have croissants for sandwiches when we saw people who got there after us with croissant sandwiches? If you arrive early afternoon chances are they have sold out of many things also. Skip this one, there's plenty of other great local shops.

Janet P.

Yelp
Gorgeous little place that's survived many years here. Beautiful tile work adds to the French feel. Wonderful pastries, sandwiches, coffees, and teas. Order at the counter and enjoy a treat. They have added more substantial breakfasts if you're hungry.

InThe D.

Yelp
Freshly baked in their in/house bakery, there is a variety of croissants (tried raspberry and chocolate) that were very good. Cute place with lots of tables to sit and bathrooms. Coffee was on point and the lady at the cash register was very kind.

Sigrid W.

Yelp
What a find... breakfast, pastries, fancy coffees... all high quality and delicious. Eat in, carry out, whatever your heart desires. I enjoyed the country omelet and upgraded to a raspberry croissant to go with it. All items were so very delicious. And so much of it. I really had trouble finishing it all... and I can eat quite a bit. Washed it all down with a perfect latte. I was sad that I couldn't try more of their delicious offerings, but since I was just a tourist in town... however, I will make it a point to stop by next time I'm in town. The dining room interior features a giant stained glass window. That alone is worth a visit. Even better is their little courtyard. Lots of art, seating areas and most importantly : a ton of shade providing plants.

Pamela J.

Yelp
Not the 5 star patisserie I hoped for (didn't even try the croissant as you can tell it wasn't flaky), but a lovely little shop nonetheless. Brioche was excellent. They have fresh squeezed orange juice and the dessert offerings look 5 star. What also detracts from the patisserie vibe are the plastic plates. Not sure why they can't use china. The thick plastic needs to be washed too. All in all, a lovely spot. Enjoy the different flavored croissants - apple, blueberry, raspberry. That's a nice change.

Adam B.

Yelp
So many beautiful looking pastries in the case in front. But the more ordinary looking baked goods farther down the counter are also delicious. A perfect place to grab some snacks in the morning. Pig: Almost too cute to eat. Almost. Reminded me of a mini princess cake with the marzipan shell encasing fluffy cake and a layer of cream. Except here there were nuts instead of raspberry. Quite delicious, though kinda small. Pistache: One of those fancy looking mousse-heavy pastries so common at French pâtisseries. Chocolate was the dominant flavor as it existed in the ganache coating, a lot of the inside mousse and the cake. The green pistachio mousse portion was kind of overpowered by all the chocolate taste. But the whole experience is very rich and creamy, so still alright even though the pistachio flavor was hard to detect. Marjolaine: Very cool looking with layers of meringue connected by layers of hazelnut cream. Though very messy to eat since it's gonna crumble with utensils and is kinda unwieldy eating by hand like a sandwich. Blueberry Croissant: So it looks like a croissant and it has very buttery layered dough. But it seems glazed like a doughnut and has a berry jam filling. Whatever it is, I really liked it. Felt quite unique. Swan Meringue: Looks cute, but just regular old sugary meringue.

Yelp
After hearing from other travelers about how good this place was, we had to try it while we were in New Orleans. We were not disappointed! The girls that helped us were so friendly and nice, and everything was divine! Will definitely be going back on our next trip!

Melody H.

Yelp
Walked in with high expectations--line out the door and all. Tried the Quiche Lorraine, which they microwaved--a real buzzkill. Flavor was meh. The croissant, though? A bread roll in disguise. Zero flaky goodness; not worth the carb splurge. Hubby went for an omelet and the same croissant fail. The omelet was fresh but just okay on the taste scale. The redeeming grace? A killer cappuccino. When they say "large," they're not messing around. The pastries looked tempting, but we'll have to save that taste test for another day.

Yupeng L.

Yelp
This place has a nice ambience and is surprisingly spacious once you walk inside. I got some pastries and coffee. I found them pretty decent, but not anything that rocked my world. Coffee was pretty average too. In my opinion a bit pricy given the coffee cups are tiny and the quality was okay. Nice ambience and nice people though.

Mary V.

Yelp
Cute little French pastry shop. Service was great. The croissant was nothing to write home about but we also had it as part of a sandwich instead of stand alone. The pâté sandwich can use more pate but overall tasty! The French onion soup was the highlight. Delicious! Loaded with onions and the cheese was soft and stringy.

Joe M.

Yelp
Even as a local I enjoy showing this spot to friends in New Orleans as my preferred French Quarter coffee shop. It does not have a touristy vibe. There are accents and elements to this spot that give it true French Quarter authenticity, like hand-laid tile, stained glass, and a calm, quaint courtyard. If you can catch this place very early in the morning, it is best, as it can get quite busy and lose the charm of the slow pace. Service times can be longer than your average coffee shop, as they prepare each item with care. Be prepared for a bit of a wait. Also Note that if you are sensitive to cinnamon to let them know before-hand. I don't often get a full breakfast here, but will often indulge in a Béchamel croissant or quiche.

Torrey S.

Yelp
The cappuccino was frothy & delish! The croissant, superbly flaky. The only drawback, if there was one, was the crone at the front of the line when we entered who argued over multiple discounts and created her own, personal puff pastry traffic jam. Once they were through with her, the rest moved fairly efficiently. She obviously threw the staff off their game a bit. If they could improve one thing, maybe they could offer a better selection of jams instead of the pre-packaged grape jelly. That said, even McDonald's quality jam tastes great on a proper croissant!

David V.

Yelp
Classic French quarter spot. Lots of sweets and a surprising menu of savory fare as well. So you can just grab a pastry or slice of king cake or delve into a sandwich and a cup of soup. Friendly service. A nice open patio in the back to sit as well.

AJ C.

Yelp
This place is a historic stop you must make, but I didn't feel like the food was something to write home about. Simple and effective, food for a quick bite after a tour or before getting your festivities started. They have a nice outdoor seating area as well. The bathrooms were horrendously damp and dirty, but once again effective

Tina K.

Yelp
Wonderful cute quaint with good pastries and sandwiches. A hidden gem worth visiting!

Paige M.

Yelp
Stopped here this morning and got a Cappuccino and a blueberry croissant. WOW. Very impressed with this place. Service was fast and friendly. Cafe was very clean with a great vibe and the pastries / coffee were delicious. Definitely stop by here!

Lynn L.

Yelp
Delicious croissant and coffee. Lovely ambiance and when we were there no crowds. I had a delicious ham and cheese croissant. My friend had avocado toast.

Tiffany D.

Yelp
I got an iced Caramel latte, a cheese danish, and an almond croissant for around $18. The pastries were decent but the coffee wasn't good for me. The staff was very nice and friendly. I probably would be back for other pastries or desserts but I'll skip the coffee!

Will B.

Yelp
Very cute little cafe! The little pastry snacks were delicious, the people working were pleasant. We ate in the little outdoor courtyard but the inside was also very near and pretty. Overall a lovely start to your day!

Aaron R.

Yelp
Solid spot to start your day. The ambiance here is a ten. This was my favorite place to start my day after my morning runs. I've had better croissants, but I've also been to Paris so.... Take it with a grain of salt. Sitting inside or in courtyard is very relaxing. Strong coffee and quiet time for the win.

Tara V.

Yelp
Food was absolutely delicious! Coffee was some of the best I've had in New Orleans. Would definitely recommend!

Justin M.

Yelp
Only thing good was the almond croissant the rest was ok. Mocha cappuccino although looked good tasted like water. Chocolate croissant and ham and cheese croissant were so minimal on stuffing it was more like find the essence of what's supposed to be there. The frog was good. I left with wasting most of what we ordered.

Rebecca H.

Yelp
What a gem!!!! Tons of seating indoor or outside - the courtyard is amazing. The service is so wonderful-great recommendations. The food is fabulous. Seriously go for breakfast or brunch. And take a pastry for later. They will forever be on my short list when in NOLA.

Carl S.

Yelp
Fun little place for coffee light breakfast or great pastries. The croissants melt in your mouth. Sooo good.

Mendy G.

Yelp
Lovely patisserie, good food and service, lovely ambiance. You should go when in New Orleans!

Tiffany F.

Yelp
This place is gorgeous. I felt like I was in Paris. They have a cute courtyard and a good selection of pastries and breakfast food. The line was long and a little slow but worth it. They also have free WiFi.

Mayank M.

Yelp
Nice quaint place with excellent fresh food and French quarter feel! Food has to be ordered but que was not long, then they give you some and bring the rest of the order to table. We loved their coffee, toast, macaroons and ratatouille Yum

Maya D.

Yelp
Such a cute place with the nicest people. The breakfast sandwiches on croissants were so good. Their croissants were *chefs kiss*. So soft and warm and buttery. Would return for a sausage or bacon egg and cheese sandwich.

Vanessa Z.

Yelp
One of the best bakeries so far. I really loved this place. It's so cute and screams french vibes especially the courtyard. The staff were so friendly and nice. The pastries overall were pretty good. The raspberry croissant was omg ahmazing! Its so delicious and buttery and has a sweet glaze on top. Prob the best croissant Ive ever had. The tiramisu was really good and the ham n chz croissant was just as good as the raspberry but in a savory way. The coffee was also great. The cream chz danish was not my fav. Its too bready for me. I prefer the puff pastry type. This one is more of a bread texture. And the quiche was kind of meh taste wise and the texture was very lumpy which I didn't really care for. I've never had a quiche so lumpy before. So maybe skip it. But overall I can't wait to go back and get another croissant!

Andrew T.

Yelp
Great breakfast with a dozen things on the menu I could have eaten! A decent cup of tea, too, and they gave us fresh milk so we didn't have to use coffee creamer or drink it black! Lovely selection of sweets: would call again here in a heartbeat.

Kristi C.

Yelp
We had this restaurant for breakfast 2 days in a row. We went for the great reviews and pictures, but it definitely dis not live up to the hype. For a restaurant with Croissant in its, name, they do not know how to make croissants. They were the hardest croissants I have ever had. A croissant should be buttery and flaky and theirs were neither. Do not go for the croissants. You order at the counter when you go in and if you are staying they will bring you the food to your table when it's ready or will hand you the items you buy out of the counter right then. I got a croissant egg sandwich both days with bacon added. The croissant the second day was a little better Han the first day because it was a bit softer, but neither had the buttery and flaky texture and flavor a Croissant should have. The workers were very nice and helpful. My friends had a country omelet and did like it, but were disappointed in the croissant that came as the side. The menu was limited. They do a pretty good job for a quick/convenient breakfast, but I am guessing they have a minimal kitchen. They had some good looking desserts in the front case. My friend at the lemon and chocolate cake and indicated they were both good. However she reports that the bread puddling was not good. The only reason we made a repeat visit was because we were headed out on a swamp tour the next morning and this place was located right next to our abnb so it was too convenient to pass up for a quick to go breakfast. I would not go back unless we stayed at that same location and needed a quick/convenient location. If you go here, avoid meals with the croissants. For a more robust breakfast, I would go elsewhere.

Annette F.

Yelp
I came here with the hype from all the reviews but wasn't crazy impressed. Now, my opinion on a place could and will be different from someone else's opinion and experience. I did enjoy their croissant and ambiance very much! The service was wonderful as well. Definitely come by here and see for yourself and enjoy

Brandi F.

Yelp
Great little coffee and pastry shop. Coffee is decent and nice little pastry assortment. I had the avocado salmon toast, which was good. Kids had a apple croissant and a raisin danish. Service was friendly, long lines went pretty quickly. Food took a reasonable amount of time. The best part is the decor!

Lin LiAnn W.

Yelp
This is a really cute patisserie and gave me Paris vibes for sure. We only got case pastries so I can't speak for their coffee or sandwiches. Loved the interior. Pastries were fair. Their almond croissant had not filling, it had slivered almonds on top with a light glaze. The palmier was very good, crispy and the fresh. Their award winning chocolate chips cookies were really good as well. Their cherry and cheese danish were danish but the galette - shortbread cookie with orange essence was dry and had no flavor of orange at all. That was disappointing. Definitely worth a visit though just for the ambiance.

Michele D.

Yelp
Cute little cafe, they make a traditional French version of the king cake. Check it out.

Katie Y.

Yelp
I was looking for a bakery with good croissants in the city and read some reviews about this place so we tried it this morning. To begin, the building is beautiful and we enjoyed the experience of taking in a historic location like this one. I was pretty disappointed with the food that we ordered. They microwaved (without us asking) both our Ham & Cheese croissant and quiche which really took away from the integrity of the pastry itself. We ordered a Croque Monsieur which also appeared to have been prepared and then microwaved with a fried egg placed on top, the flavor of this was not great. The almond croissant (that was not microwaved) was the best of the pastries we tried but was not as flavorful or as flaky as some others from different bakeries. I will likely not return.

larry b.

Yelp
OMG, I thought I knew what love is. I didn't until now. It so reminds me of Paris. My first love. French onion soup with ham and cheese crepe and eggs was wonderful. My box of pastries will be enjoyed thoroughly I'm sure. This is a must do in NOLA! U can thank me later.

Steve P.

Yelp
This is a beautiful little shop with lots of seating off the beaten path. I had a blueberry croissant and an oat milk latte. Both were delicious. The people working were super nice I had a nice little table in the window looking out at the blue sky. Great way to start the day! I come here whenever I am in the neighborhood.

Casey M.

Yelp
Beautiful cafe with great pastries and great espresso drinks. Location is in the quiet part of the quarter.

TC L.

Yelp
Small, quiet little bakery. I ordered a croissant with egg and cheese. Not a lot of fluff or fanfare. The croissant wasn't my favorite. Everything was just fine, but I'm thinking I tired the wrong pastry. The staff was very friendly.

Tiffany Z.

Yelp
Fun assortment of traditional French pastries and twists for sandwiches and other breakfast options. Almond croissant was the best! It was filled with frangiepan and sliced almonds on top and a bit sticky. It was not overly sweet so a good combo of butter and almond croissant will get you through the day. The avocado, smoked salmon toast had a beautiful poached egg. The only bummer for this sandwich and the smoked salmon sandwich is that the tomatoes were definitely out of season, they were still almost green and didn't offer much flavor. So with such a beautiful presentation (and flavor of course) the tomatoes were a strange addition. Coffee, cappuccino and mocha are true coffee experiences (no Starbucks quality). Our first time there was to good we went the next morning for breakfast again. We'll also plan our next visit to be near this place so we can go over and over. Building is so cool inside, very Parisian feeling. Bathrooms need MAJOR overhaul. Avoid the bathrooms if possible.
