On the Grid : Cross Street Market

"Built in the 19th century, historic Cross Street Market is a Federal Hill institution. Stop by any of the many old-school stalls, serving everything from homestyle barbecue to classic fried chicken, for a true taste of Baltimore. But if you're craving true Mid-Atlantic seafood, it doesn't get any fresher than Nick's Inner Harbor Seafood -- so pull up a stool for a quick plate of local oysters or a steaming hot cup of Maryland Crab Soup." - Planit

Where to Eat Before a Football Game in Baltimore - Eater DC

"One of Baltimore’s six public markets, Cross Street is in the middle of a major redevelopment that will modernize the 172-year-old market. While some of the market is closed during the renovation, visitors can still head to Nick’s Inner Harbor Seafood for oysters and the Pretzel Twist for soft, doughy goodness." - Julekha Dash

Nestled in Federal Hill, Cross Street Market is a historic marketplace (dating back to 1846) that’s been thoughtfully updated with a fresh crop of local vendors. Baltimore Magazine and Eater highlight its mix of longtime favorites like Fenwick’s Choice Meats and new arrivals such as Taco Love Grill and Burger Bar. The market’s rejuvenation preserves its role as a social anchor for the neighborhood while serving up everything from oysters to ramen. The vibrant, light-filled space invites both regulars and newcomers to sample the best of Baltimore’s evolving food scene.

Fenwick’s Choice Meats Fenwick’s Choice Meats opened in 1952 with the rebuild of Cross Street Market. In 1970 Henry Reisinger joined and rose through the ranks at this classic butcher shop, ultimately becoming sole proprietor in 1987. Fenwick’s has always been known not just for its quality meats (from whole chickens to breakfast sausage and slab bacon to just about any cut of meat you can imagine), but also cleanliness, customer service and fair prices.

It could be nicer, more stalls, more choice. Not so busy. I had a poke bowl and for $15 it could have been a bit more generous, it was nice but small.

Good food, good brews. Great place to catch lunch or a night out. 4/5 stars, would be 5 but not so great/clean neighborhood.

Google
Reminds me of a up start Reading Terminal, potential unlimited some food stands aren't worth the time, but overall i like the Market, Ceramony is very good, the ice cream bar is very good, and the Charles st.side Restaurant is good also. The one place not to go is the place after Ceramony on the left, it's a greasy spoon, not a good one at all, avoid it at all costs.

Where are the veggies and fruit? What happened to the farmers market for this Saturday morning (which fell between May and October) at the Cross Street Market. This Cross Street Market farmers market is talked about by major Baltimore touring organizations, magazines and social media sites. Maybe their publications are outdated. If so, then their announcements should be updated. At 9:00 this Saturday morning it seemed things were just getting started. There were not many people around and no one could provide any information about a highly-touted farmers market. Well, so much for the fruit and veggie inspection and purchase. At the renovated market, a few shops were open and serving breakfast and coffee, but that was just about it. The place was quiet, I remember the hustle, bustle, laughter and people from the good old days. The building is nicely renovated. There is a noticeable alignment of shops along the side walls of the interior of the building. There are also easily accessible entrance and exit areas. Artwork and signage on the building is pretty. There is tabled seating outside on the side of the building, but I am not sure if it is general seating or for specific shops. There is limited parking around the building and additional parking within walking distance, but pay close attention to parking signs. There were plenty electric scooters available outside. Because it was early morning there was not much traffic. Very pleasant.

Nice walkable food market in the Baltimore Inner Harbor/Federal Hill neighborhood. Nice variety of restaurants and great coffee shop. Something for everyone. Indoor and outdoor seating. Similar to Reading Market in Philly or Chelsea Market in NYC (but smaller than both).

Got some crepes at Crepe Crazy. The food all through here smells amazing. I love these street markets and all of the different restaurants in them. This is a fantastic one.

There is a pretty good variety of food establishments in the Cross Street Market. I enjoy going there for lunch and sometimes dinner. A couple of my favorite places in the market are Charm City Poke and The Chicken Lab. Highly recommend stopping in to check out the food options if you are in the area.

Yelp
I finished having lunch at Blue Moon Too and wanted to walk around for a bit. I found Ceremony Coffee on Google Maps as a great place to pick up some coffee. We walked in through the main entrance and saw the long hallway filled with restaurants. We were curious so we started walking around. There were several cool restaurants here filled with Ravens and Orioles fans. Everyone was having a good time and enjoying themselves. There were several restaurants from pizza to empanadas to crepes. There were so many local eateries to choose from. Next time I am in Baltimore I will have to enjoy this market more. We walked back towards Ceremony Coffee and picked up an Iced Americano there. The staff was incredibly friendly and told us about the cool things to do in the market. We were only in town for a weekend so we did not get to enjoy the whole market. I will have to come back to Baltimore another weekend to fully enjoy all the local eateries. This place was super cool to enjoy and walk through. I could only imagine what it would be like on a busier night after a game or event. I have never spent time in Baltimore before but I was pleasantly surprised. Cross Street Market was great to check out and you won't be disappointed.

Yelp
I love Cross Street! With over 20+ vendors of mannnnny different foods and options, I don't see how this market can get anything OTHER than 5 stars. If you're interested in picking up a bite to eat, something refreshing to drink, or even just to simply pull to the bar for a drink before going out or hey.. going home, Cross Street is literally a one-stop shop.

Yelp
An overwhelming smell of old oil in deep fryers . This place has changed from an indoor produce market to a food court. Lots of lunch choices, most of them unhealthy due to the use of vegetable oil, greasy dressings or questionable freshness ingredients. Perhaps because I came in midweek and was quite empty. Need to try the weekends

Yelp
I went to the pizza place that is near the Charles Street entrance. I ordered one garlic knot. The girl behind the counter told me it was $4.24 I gave her a 5 dollar bill and she said she had no change so it actually cost $5.00. I told her that I was there last week and was told the garlic knots were 4 for $7.00. The girl then told me that I got two when I only ordered one. When my order was ready, there was only 1 garlic knot. The place is a complete rip off. I'm from the neighborhood and I'll never go back there again.

Yelp
Wednesdays are weird for us. Jeremy and I have mental health therapy appointments, but at different locations and with a two hour gap between. So we've started doing lunch dates, which is pretty fun. I love getting to try new (to me) restaurants again. This time in a neighborhood we haven't explored much before. This is a delayed review. This was our first lunch date, back in December. I apologize but this holiday season and new year has been a lot for me. I'm trying my hardest to pull myself out of this funk. Cross Street Market is not like Lexington Market. It's more like the market in Fell's Point. It's all food stalls, no merchandise. There are about 10 places to choose from, if that. Lots of seating, at least. Also plenty of televisions to watch - sports channels, movies, etc all playing at once, yet it's not super noisy or overwhelming. We tried food from three different stalls and coffee from the segregated (they have their own entrance door) Ceremony Coffee Roasters. It's a whole different vibe in there, and truthfully, it made me uncomfortable. It was too yuppy, too... I don't know. I always feel out of place in coffee shops. I much prefer the blue-collar vibe of the rest of the market. I wouldn't be mad to return to try a different selection of stalls. Personally, I regretted my choice of the pulled pork barbecue sandwich from the smokehouse stall. It was Hella dry, even with the sauce and the "slaw." Their wings were good, but they were whole wings and we only got three. Next time I think I'll try the ramen place, or Bahn mi, or the Korean fried chicken.

Yelp
Came here on a weekday and tried out a new place. I don't remember if I've ever been inside of this Market, but it's a similar idea to Lexington Market, and Broadway Market. A ton of options, and I ultimately ate at Theo's Banhmi Rolls & Bowls. I got the Fried Chicken Bowl with Half Rice & Half Greens with the Bang Bang sauce for $15.86 total. Pretty affordable and I had leftovers for the next day. The chicken was cooked perfectly and the sauce went so well with everything! I loved that it was a good healthy balance of food. Flavor was so good. The bathrooms and the inside of the market are super clean, not sure if it's been renovated recently. You can find desserts, chicken places, and Boba Tea here too. (Theo's sells Boba as well). Parking was pretty easy since it was a Wednesday evening. There is street parking that you pay for and parking right alongside the Market. You can also take the Circulator and some bus routes come through as well. I thoroughly enjoyed the food and would highly recommend them! I would go back as well.

Yelp
The Cross Street Market is located in Federal Hill. It is a food hall, and despite the rather modest exterior, you'll find just over 20 vendors serving everything from refreshments to appetizers, entrees and dessert, as well as ample seating indoors. On the Wednesday we visited about 1 pm, food traffic was brisk, but the lines moved swiftly and folks were served promptly. We ordered a coffee from Ceremony Coffee Roasters, enjoyed a burger and onion rings from Southside Burger Bar, Shrimp fried rice from Blowfish Poke, and ice cream from Taharka Bros. Everything was delicious. The only problem is that there are more vendors' foods to try and we only have a lunchtime to visit. Everything we tried was wonderful. Tables were clean, the aisles were free from debris and easy to navigate. Parking was available and easy to find in the West Street Garage and also at metered street parking. We definitely want to return!

Yelp
Cross Street Market is like a food court offering different cuisine. We came here for late breakfast but most of the vendors were not open. Luckily Crepe Crazy was open. We tried chicken mushroom and cowboy, ham and cheese. We really enjoyed chicken and mushroom. It is made to order so there will be some wait and card payment only.

Yelp
This is the mother of all makeovers. Hubs, my daughter and I were last here when she was 10 and from then to now, this market has gone through a major overhaul. When we drove in to Maryland to stretch our legs on Good Friday recently, we wanted to relive what was: the dim market, stalls that have been there for centuries, and the only seafood restaurant- Watershed- serving Maryland Blue Crabs in buckets, with a paper towel roll, and brown butcher paper as your table cloth. Fuck being fancy- this market had the best crabs with Old Bay in town. Now? It was daunting. After high millions put into the revamping, the griminess that made this place pop for us in the early 2000s, is no more. We drove past it twice because we didn't recognize the new look. But I get it- everything needs to evolve. Since we made it this far, we came to tackle blue crabs like we did back in the day. Negative. Because the revamped Watershed restaurant was all out of them. The rest of the food was great nonetheless. But I'll say this, Mr Fisherman went crabbing the ENTIRE day back then and yielded enough crabs for the masses without a care in the world. Now? It's not the same energy.

Yelp
Super fun spot to pick items and eat your way down the hall. Vast variety to pick from but I really enjoyed the pizza and beer!!! Centrally located so you can easily bar hop or be social after eating when they close at 10pm. Super friendly staff and clean. Also a good spot to bring kids!

Yelp
Casual, clean and lively food hall with many vendors and communal seating area. While in Federal Hill we walked by Cross Street Market after lunch hence didn't get anything, but would like to come back and try some of the causal fare on our next visit.

Yelp
I visited this place to checkout my sons new work place. This is a nice food district with lots of different food options to choose from depending on what you I'm the mood for. I tried the plaintons from Sobeachy, they were sweet and delicious. The guacamole and chips from Taco Love are delicious as well, the guacamole is def on point. I grab some meat from Fenwick meats, and indulged on some sweet doughnuts from blowfish poke. Let's not forget about the delicious pizza from joeys pizza, they slices are humongous and the cheese stretch is crazy, I love that's it's thin crust as well... you can go wrong grabbing a slice of any kind.

Yelp
On a little vacation in Baltimore and tried out across Street Market. So many options and such a fun environment. Unfortunately, I did not take good notes on the names of the restaurants we went to...but we tried some Korean fried chicken, empanadas and some pizza. All were fast, hot, fresh, and very good! We ate right by the live music and really enjoyed listening to the man who played guitar and sang. Food halls are perfect for foodies! So fun to try various entrees at once. Definitely give it a try!!

Yelp
Tad ridiculous as this is an amazing place w a ton of merchants that rely on outside business but I was not allowed to enter simply because I had leftovers in a box from another restaurant. No entry w outside food. Sorry but that's garbage

Yelp
We loved the old Cross Street Market. Full stop, done. A municipal market that's over a hundred years old was charming, funky and unique. There's no way a modern reboot can compete. But the new market is nice. There is more natural light. There is ( despite a recent yelp review) a significant upgrade in seating for anyone. There is maybe more open space. We tried DMV Empanadas which is casual but crafts a fine tasty treat. Wd also tried the crepes place which is authentic and generous.

Yelp
Love this place! Fed has some great spots and this market has something for everyone. Korean, PHO, fried chicken, tacos, etc I started with coffee at Ceremony--the best quality coffee around I love it. To eat I grabbed some Korean BBQ Buns at Rice Crook--these were absolutely delicious. Would definitely get them again. My friends got Taco Luv and raved about their tacos and rice as well. As a side note, the walk up window for Royal Farms? Is too cute

Yelp
Stopped in with my family of four tonight to see what was in store at this food hall and fill our bellies! We ordered several things from several counters and made this a fun family-style meal where we were able to sample a bit of everything. Tonight we got a sweet and spicy korean chicken rice bowl from one vendor, shrimp and a BBQ pork empanadas from a second vendor, and jumbo lump crab and sicilian pepperoni pizzas from a third. It was a lot of food, but shared among all of us we were easily up to the challenge. I really enjoyed the korean chicken bowl as well as the jumbo crab pizza slice. The pepperoni pizza was good but not knock-your-socks-off, and the empanadas felt a little overpriced for what was delivered. The atmosphere of eating in a food hall with a live musician playing music in the background and lots of other groups and families enjoying themselves just made for a memorable night here at Cross Street Market. I'd love to come back again soon.

Yelp
Mobeachy, the Hatian spot! Top tier!!! I was offered a free sample of chili and came back for the chicken and plantains! So delicious!

Yelp
I love Cross Street Market. I would definitely recommend it for a lot of great bars and food stalls. Nice place to go on sunny days just to walk around and enjoy the atmosphere.

Yelp
While I have always been a fan of Cross Street Market (that's why there are ANY stars at all), I must say I was quite disappointed in the Taco Love Grill vendorZ My selections: 1. Chicken Burrito: rice, beans, lettuce, cheese, onions, tomato, sour cream & avocado. Delicious sauces: Salsa verde (green), hotter salsa (red-orange), sour cream. SCORE!!! 2. Steak Taco: Delicious toppings (lettuce, tomato, cream, cheese, cilantro & onion). The steak, once again, was bland as could be. Hmmm... so how were they, you ask? Well, try to follow me here... you know I 'spinning a good yarn' so sit back... picture it. Sicily. 1953... (ahaha hope thy got a giggle for a few)... it's very descriptive but it makes the perfect point.... IF you've gone to a festival or group setting where food is served on a hot day. Okay... I'll liken these two dishes to when you go to a festival, that's packet on a swelteringly hot day. You decide you want a sausage, peppers & onions hoagie; or a gyro; or a hot dog; or even a burger. What tends to happen is the vendors cook in bill to accommodate the heavy demand and rapid turn around. When the meats are prepared, they are seasoned perfectly, charred nicely and have great flavor. The PROBLEM comes in when they are prepared, they're chucked into a massive pan and piled on top of one another. This is so the preparers can quickly grab the meat and prepare the meals and get them out. Cool. However, all this delicious meat that's piled on top of each other constantly radiates heat. This causes the meat to sweat and a pool of liquid forms in the bottom of the pan. The spices / flavors are all being sweated out/ off and and dripping down into the flavorful water collecting at the bottom. The result is, the customer is basically getting steamed flavorless meat. **womp womp** Thats what the meat from both of my dishes tasted like. I could tell they were seasoned with something but the flavor was barely there, if at all. The take away is BOTH these dishes would have been BANGIN if I wanted a vegan dish and just got toppings in the tortillas. The toppings were delicious! It was the flavorless meat that killed these dishes, altogether. After basically throwing away $20, I highly doubt this will get a 2nd try. CRIME CRIME CRIME!!! I found it odd that I couldn't find this vendor's location on Yelp. Only the White Marsh location was available. Maybe that was intentional, after all.

Yelp
It took me a beat to realize all the good eats in Cross Street Market are grouped together as one unit on Yelp! So here's the lowdown: the market has a good atmosphere. Huge seating areas (though a little loud - all hard surfaces), large outdoor tables, lots of dining options. They did a really nice job with the recent renovation. We've tried a few spots (though far from all of them) and my ABSOLUTE 5-star go-tos stalls are Taco Love (guess what they sell, ha) and Taharka Brothers (best ice cream in Baltimore). I haven't been to (or, at first, even heard of) either's home base locations, so these are my first experiences with either's food. Taco Love: The carne asada fries are the bomb. They don't skimp on the guac (yes, it automatically comes with guac!), it's got just the right amount of cheese to me (well topped but far from drowning in it), the flavor on the meat is great, and every time we order it we've been super happy with it (consistent!) - it ALWAYS hits the spot and just tastes so good! I've tried the tacos and a burrito, but my other favorite thing on the menu is DEFINITELY the shrimpotle bowl. PERFECTLY cooked shrimp every time in a light yet filling bed of greens and I'm not even sure what else. It's delicious. And not spicy! (Another huge point for me!) Taharka Bros: For a while, Fed Hill had no ice cream shops. Froyo, yes, but sadly, no ice cream. Taharka Brothers was the first game in town... And even now that we suddenly have like 5 ice cream shops, they are still my favorite for a classic cone. The Chocolate Love is like a drug to me: best chocolate ice cream I've ever had. And their Honey Graham is also regularly in my rotation. So. Good. So good that when covid hit and everything shut down and they started offering delivery by the crate, I was among the first to sign up. Not even a global pandemic can keep me from that ice cream!! LOVE it!!

Yelp
I had not been to the Cross Street Market in probably 30 years. I heard they had a recent renovation and thought it would be fun to revisit after such a long time. The renovation is fine-- it's hard to mess up the basic market concept that allows for one main hallway where everyone peruses the food stands and decides what to eat. Unlike the food markets of old, the food markets of Baltimore have become food courts from the ghosts of shopping malls. Nothing wrong with that, it's just interesting to see the shift. We ended up eating at Taco Love and we were not disappointed. We had grilled shrimp tacos and a chicken quesadilla as well as a couple of Mexican beers. Really great food! There is plenty of seating and we had fun people-watching at Cross Street Market in Baltimore, Maryland.

Yelp
This is like the middle-class version of Lexington market. But here you don't have bums, pimps and drug dealers shaking you down before you even get inside the place. Nestled in the heart of federal hill in Baltimore. This market is so much better. The people, The environment, Everything. Very high police presence patrolling. So definitely safer. There are a lot of blank spaces though. But there's also a lot of filled spaces with active businesses. Also the overall place is spotlessly clean. The people are middle to high class. Everyone is friendly here. Extremely peaceful. Sorta feels like a college environment. All age groups are here. Young and old. All demographics. But the main difference is class. Definitely higher class then Lexington I got some nachos with guacamole. Totally fresh and & hot. The only downfall is the parking. Due to it being federal hill. Parking enforcement is highly active with their ticket handhelds here. Be very careful where you park and read the parking signs. Other then that. Cross Street is awesome. It does need some more businesses though.

Yelp
Marketed as being one of the country's oldest public markets, I had a sense of history meets modern when I planned to visit this place. Sadly, I feel like the recent renovation and restoration was just a tad too much emphasis on the modern. Nestled in the heart of Federal Hill, Cross Street Market is now similar to many other markets around the country. It's filled with tons of local artisan (mostly food) vendors where you can stop, grab something to eat/drink, and catch up in one of the many seating areas. While I applaud the restoration, I feel like it's almost too modernized and it's completely lost its history during the renovation process. I didn't get a sense of any history, at all, during my visit and walk through of the place. Maybe that's cause I had never visited prior to the restoration, but I feel like when you have such a special piece of history, you can't take it so far as to completely erase it's past. Don't get me wrong, it's a very, very nice market, and I was happy to stumble across it. Be sure to pay yourself a visit to one of the country's oldest markets and support local vendors!

Yelp
Most of the businesses here are not following Baltimore's masking order. Yesterday I walked thru and only 2 employees at about a dozen stands had masks over their noses. Many stands had totally unmasked employees, some at the register's where they deal directly with customers. This follows 2 other visits where masking was lax and the trend is downhill. The anti masking arrogance prevents me from going back.

Yelp
no longer a market. restaurants with low supply and bad attitudes. disappointed. save your time and money and go to giant to get good food.
google avatar

Yelp
My oldest daughter and I decided to revisit this food hall to see if it had improved from two years ago and it had. There were more vendors available with wide variety of foods. However the bathroom situation did not improve, only two single occupancy gender neutral on site. The bathroom I used was out of soap and that was in the middle of the day. I don't think we will return.

Yelp
Great spot for any kind of food. They have just about anything you could need. They have a little bit of seating, but it's perfect for a pick up and go dinner.

Yelp
There are ton of good eats in Baltimore, but it is truly something else when all of those good eats are under one roof. Good for the belly, bad for the belt. (Should I change my Yelp profile to that, series question???) Cross Street Market houses vendors that span American to Asian; coffee to cocktails; breakfast to dinner; and appetizer to dessert. The spot is large and accomodates groups of various sizes. I haven't had trouble scoring a table that seats one or few. It is also pretty well-maintained and clean for all the foot traffic that comes through. Perhaps my favorite is how convenient it is to eat and then head out for a night after.

Yelp
Steve's Lunch!! Yesterday, Saturday, January 2nd 2021, my boyfriend and his mom stopped at Steve's to grab a sandwich. But the two ladies running the stand were too involved in drinking their own coffees and having their own conversation. They never ever acknowledged my boyfriend and his mom. They never once said "can we help you". I'm totally appalled by this because I myself would frequent Steve's stand years ago way before the renovations and never had I ever had an experience like that. My boyfriend and his mom walked away and left! And I'm so glad they did. It's honestly very sad during these difficult times when businesses are struggling for customers. Well I hope this message reaches the owners so that they can address these two women.

Yelp
Good music, excellent customer service, good drinks! I can't wait to return! I had the Salmon with rice and craw fish sauce... or something close to that lol. I also had the steamed shrimp, and the mussels in coconut curry sauce (the best thing I've every had) , and the crab cake. No complaints! Excellent!

Yelp
Very relaxing diverse vibe for the entire family. So many flavorful spots. Better Uber. Streets are narrow. Parking is limited. And bars a plenty.

Yelp
Been here a couple times. It's definitely still developing. Some stalls have been opened and some are still in construction. Regardless the food that is there is very good! Everything from royal farms chicken to poké to coffee and pho. Good for a picky group. Basically a glorified food court

Yelp
This is geared more towards the bar service within the watershed and the bar inside the market. Went in on a Thursday evening and had a drink at the bar near the restrooms- bartender was decent and attentive. After I decided to grab a seat at the bar within the watershed. About 3 bartenders behind the bar and they all walked past myself and friends as we sat there. I decided since I'm a patron let's see who greets me still no acknowledgement from anyone. They assist another party on one end but still never came. It took the bartender from the back to come down and assist us with menus, water and our drink order. He then goes away and we are left with just one drink no food order to place. Business wasn't busy that night so I'm not sure what the excuse could be. The bartenders at the bar had time to huddle and chat, check bottle inventory but never asked paying customers for their order. After begging for some attention we got the check and decided to part ways. The guy who ignored us but showed up to close the check seemed to apologize but was it a genuine apology-NOPE. To the ATLAS group train your employees on diversity and hospitality in the workplace. No customer should have a dissatisfying experience in an almost empty establishment on a week night.

Yelp
This place is kind of like the Public Market Place in Seattle. They have sea food and a bar right next to each other. This place is for eating, boozing, and shopping for grocery as well. The tables are barrels that have been flipped over and theres stools around them, One of the bar tenders is really hot and apparently my friend has been trying to talk to her for 10 years. I'd come back here for the mixture of the crowd, cheap beers, and the food.

Yelp
One of the oldest public markets in America is such a fun place to visit as a tourist and definitely a smart place to go is a local. The butcher Henry has been doing this is entire life and is amazing there are so many choices for sandwiches, cheese, snacks fresh fish, sushi fresh oysters. It's open every day at 7 o'clock and has fun happy hours at the seafood and sushi bar on the weekends. A local gem

Yelp
Wow! Thanks to my friend Will James for recommending this place. So far in Maryland I've had crab cakes at two other places and to be honest I was starting to wonder what the big was until I tried the cakes here. Amazing! Also tried soft shelled crab for the first time, it's interesting. My server Christina was amazing, told me all about how they make the soft shelled crab and even created a combo mayonnaise and ol bay spice mix to try with the crab.

Yelp
Lots of options for a group with various diets. We ate at the Vietnamese Pho. The sesame chicken sub was tasty. My spouse had the vegan adapted pho which had some kick but was tasty too. Unfortunately, everything closes at 9 pm. Will try some of the other shops during our stay.

Yelp
This place is ruined. I've been coming here since I was just a little kid with my parents, watched it go from TRULY sketchy,, mice running around grime, to slightly less grimey, up to a standard hidden dive spot. (Let's say over the course of 20-25 years) They underwent "renovations" yet again (aka gentrification) and I recently went in to use the bathroom. What the hell??? Nothing but suburban white families with screaming children running around. culture went from lowkey market to snobby playground.... I'll pass. Where's the random wig shop selling I NY hats, pretzels, Bruce lee wings, flowers, candy... The new atmosphere just makes me depressed. It lost everything that made it cool. Now it's just like any other place.. basic, shiny, white, not an ounce of history left. RIP cross street market.

Yelp
A hidden secret best Chinese food in Federal Hill! Baltimore's Best BBQ has delicious fresh made Chinese food, the menus are simple in generous portion and they are super delicious. Today (Saturday) I walked in around 5:30pm and they were closing. The lady (Cindy) offered me to cook spicy shrimp rice noodles with egg (not on menu), my favorite!! She turned back on the gas wok and cook in 10 minutes, it's well worth the wait... Great customer service, price & yummy food. Highly recommended!!

Yelp
What's not to love here? Air conditioning set at a frosty 68 degrees. CHECK. A wide array of food from Thai to local seafood. CHECK. Very few tourists. CHECK. I've fallen in love with this place, just a few short blocks from my place of business. In fact, there hasn't been a lunch where i passed it up and went to a nearby restaurant. Those poor eating establishments within stone's throw of this place, I honestly don't know how they survive given the options inside here. My only very minor complaint is that only about 25% of the merchants take credit cards. That's a shame, because it's the friggin 21st century and you should have to adapt or go out of business. I've passed up some of the booths BECAUSE you don't take cards, so those pennies you are saving on each transaction is translating to real world dollars lost from customers, I'm just sayin' in case any of you are actually reading this. Shout out to Hot Corner Lee's and Nick's Seafood for accepting AmEX for my expense account, I've had each of them 3x and the food didn't disappoint. I'm jealous of the locals who can hit up the meat and seafood markets here, everything looks really fresh and delish. I want a kitchen to cook some of that grub, anyone want to put me up for a night to do so? So far I've had the Bruce Lee Wings and a pretzel dog (the only two locations I actually broke down and used cash at), Nick's for fish n chips as well as a $10 crab cake lunch special, Hot Corner Lee's for his amazingly fresh cheesesteaks and one stall I couldn't remember that serves subs. I was going to try the sushi but wish they had lunch boxes instead of ala carte options. If you're in the area and can't stand crowds, this is the place to be for lunch. I did notice they close down a little too early for my liking at night but I won't fault them for that.

Yelp
Best place ever! I lived in Federal Hill for awhile and i was always out but Cross Street Market was my go to! Pho for hangovers, pizza for late night cravings, tacos for taco Tuesday and even Haitian food for this who want a bit of a kick! Try it out they have so much more!

Yelp
This place is like a big farmers market, and going to another country to find unique food and crafts. HUGE place that offers everything from fresh market seafood and butcher shop meat, to home baked gingerbread cookies. SO many nice shop keepers, and people there. There was an angel tree, and we picked a lil one for Santa to get a few presents for. They have deli's and beer, and flowers, oysters, clams, blue crab....mmmmmm and ......EVERYTHING!! We did not even get to see everything this trip, but we will be back. ! :-)

Yelp
Imagine a beer. Now think about a bigger one. Nope, bigger than that. There you go, now you're thinking about the wonderfully large beers they serve at the Charles Street entrance of Cross Street Market. BIG beers, and for 5 bucks or so, you really can't grumble; we did a comparison photo, and the beer was as big as Simona's head. Yup. BIG beers. OK, I'll shut up about the BIG beers (they were big though) - this is a fun market, with a great bar scene at one end, and you can use the big beers to wash down the sushi, seafood, or whatever else takes your fancy, and also watch whatever big game is taking place on their big screen. Then you can wander down the rest of the market, and buy wonderful fruits, fresh meats and seafoods, flowers, and everything else you would expect in a market, and all incredibly inexpensive. Then you can wander back down the market, feeling quite proud of your purchases, and force yourself to take one last look at how big those beers really are. BIG.

Yelp
The Cross Street Market has opened since its renovation. There are only a handful of open restaurants and shops but they all look amazing. The new market is clean and pretty. I will return again when more shops are open!

Yelp
I believe this market is about to undergo some major renovations under new management, but as is, it's the perfect lunch stop. I work in the fed hill area and it's so easy to walk over to cross street and have access to every type of food you could imagine--Seafood, sandwiches, hotdogs, chinese, Mexican, chicken boxes, etc. I usually get a turkey hotdog from the hot dog stand or a chicken box from the stand that is right at the front entrance (I dont know the names of anything! I refer to them as "chicken spot" "hotdog spot").... In closing, it is a must try for lunch!

Yelp
I love going to The Cross Street Market for shopping for food, fresh veggies, fruit, seafood, chicken, beef and pork. Also I love eating sushi there. Fresh and delicious combinations. Most importantly you can eat your heart desires when it comes to Sea food. Big variety and we'll prepared. Not many places can compare. Never disappointed, my go to place for a good time and good food!
