I've been enjoying Crú, both in Plano and in Dallas for more than 17 years. I've brought many friends here and occasionally dined alone. The wait staff are always kind and attentive. The wine is delicious and affordable especially during their Happy Hour. Had I stopped going to Crú a few years ago, I would have given them a 5 star review, so fabulous is their food, wine, and wait staff.
Alas, something has changed in the past few years about the ambiance of the Plano Crú. I used to be a once or twice per week regular. Recently, I've not been able to afford to wine and dine there as often but on the three occasions when I have, something has always prevented me from having what used to be a wonderful, fun, enjoyable time. One time, I was seated next to about 15 increasingly loud and boisterous young women who drowned out the conversations of tables around them.
The next two times, the manager, Sean (sp?), ("new" as of four years ago), seemed determined to make me feel unwanted and unwelcome. After an $80 meal on the patio after which I left a 20% tip because it is the holidays, and the waiter, Nathan, was excellent and warm and friendly, I asked to speak with the manager.
I was soft-spoken and polite but frank and straightforward. His demeanor was full of hostility. He made it clear that he did not consider me to be a valued customer whose feelings were to be taken into account, and told me he was "not going to argue with me", and threatened to call the cops if I did not leave the premises immediately! I left, telling him that I would never be returning.
Interestingly, the restaurant was only about half full, and this at holiday time when usually business would be booming. Maybe others have had experiences similar to mine.
