"This Korean hot dog specialist, which has locations across the U.S., offers a deeply satisfying on-a-stick experience with battered and fried hot dogs that can be wrapped in cheese, injected with squid ink, swathed with crunchy potatoes, and more. Rice cakes and mozzarella cheese sticks are also available to fry, for vegetarians who want the hot dog experience without the jumbo beef frank." - Nina Raemont, Eater Staff

The Korean corn dog here was decent, but it fell a bit short on flavor. The batter was crispy, but it felt like it needed something extra to really stand out. I’d recommend adding toppings or sauces to give it a boost—maybe a sprinkle of sugar, cheese, or a spicy sauce would help bring it to life. It has potential, but without the extras, it just didn’t hit the mark for me. Worth a try if you customize it to your taste!

Amazing combinations! Half mozz and half hotdog is my go too! And I love to get it covered in potatoes for $2 more! And I love dipping it in honey mustard but they have plenty of other sauces and even sauces to go! No dine in. The to-go containers don't protect from the wind if you're walking, but they are made to order so they are fresh and warm still if you walk from nearby! 10 out of 10!

Right off the bat, the smells are what drew me in. Yummy fried carbs and cheese galore! Only downsides are the store was pretty small and bare bones decor, although I don’t think the purpose of this spot is to deliver a boutique atmosphere. But anyways, they delivered the food quickly, and the staff was friendly. I would shorten the length of the stick just a tad so it doesn’t poke you in your first bite. It’s nice and crunchy, it came nice and hot. I don’t love the breading—it was good, it just didn’t taste like much. The sauces are meh. They should give sauce to dip rather than topping the dog with the sauce. I think I’ll go back. Maybe not all the time, but sometimes.

We were in this area as tourists and it seemed like a very popular place. Lots of college students hanging around. So we went in and ordered several different options. There were five of us, two adults and three teenagers and we absolutely loved everything we ordered. There's so much variety and things to choose from. I can't imagine somebody not finding something they would be interested in on the menu. It was such a cool twist on a traditional dish. Definitely recommend and would try again!

If you're wondering if you should try this place, the answer is yes! I ordered a "corn"dog with rice cake and then potatoes (as an add-on) outside and the squid ink corn dog. Despite being lactose-intolerant, I fully enjoyed both. They were delicious with sweet chili and honey mustard sauces. I also appreciated how even though they were pretty busy at ~8pm they got my order done in like 5-10 minutes. Would recommend!

Google
This unique concept offers tasty food at a very affordable price. I went when it wasn't busy and was in and out in 5 minutes. Everything is fried to order. They are a perfect quick snack if you are on the go.

Historically I don't review chain stores, but this store is so rare in Minnesota that I find it necessary to do so. To have it in Minneapolis is definitely a blessing! Overall I think the Korean hot dogs are well made, and depending on the type one chooses to get, the amount of cheese or hot dog included will vary. Some kinds tend to have a lot more flour than what is inside. As a result, sometimes it may be hard to be full with just one hot dog. In terms of sauce and topping, one will need to carefully choose. It tastes good regardless, but some ingredients don't necessarily go together as much as others. I think the classic ketchup and mustard will work just fine, even if this is not American hot dog!

My 16 year old Tried the no meat potato mozza. She says it wasPretty good! She looks forward to trying a different one next time.

Yelp
I love going back here time and time again. The Korean corn dogs are always consistently delicious. The sauce choices they have available pair really well with the corn dogs. The corn dogs are always fresh and have a wonderful flavor with a great texture between the crunchy outside and the cheesy inside. Always a favorite place

Yelp
First thing I can say is wow, where has this been all my life. Second thing I'll say is I apparently like hot dogs if they're wrapped in cheese and potatoes. Everything was tasty, we tried a few different options. Service was relatively quick, especially considering they were making multiple at a time. I really love that you can customize with different sauces and powders, and that takeaway is an option. Speaking of takeaway, my only negative feedback is the packaging for takeout is not ideal. The employees there do their best with the tools they have, but I don't love that I'm just sandwiching two corndogs in between two of those little paper try things and sliding it into a bag. I also didn't love that once you leave, you have no idea which is which since the sticks are color coded (and the decoder is in the store). Still tasty, but a bit of a negative. All in all, just perfectly "good".

Jeremy S.

Yelp
These corn dogs are insane, you can get anything customized on them. They are perfect for filling your hunger anytime of day!!!

Jennifer B.

Yelp
I tried the Potato Mozzarella dog and the Cheddar Hotdog. They were both... fine. It's fried cheese and meat on a stick, so it's hard to make that horrible. However, I also wouldn't call it a super unique culinary experience. It would probably be excellent late-night-tipsy food (which their location in Dinkytown probably lends itself well to). We went at lunch time during the summer, and we had to wait on a long line in the sun before we were able to order. The dogs come in boats, and you can pick from a long list of sauces to go with your deep-fried food. We took ours across the street to eat in the park, which was nice, since the inside of the space is very tiny. CrunCheese is undeniably popular, but having tried it once, I am not in a hurry to go back.

Rachel W.

Yelp
The service is fast and the employees are friendly. The food is okay. I've always wanted to try a cheese dog stick like in Korea so I'm glad I could try it. But it wasn't anything crazy.

Mia C.

Yelp
I love coming here as a little treat! I love the rice cake corn dog so much. The texture is mochi like and I love it! My boyfriend always gets the hotdog & potato one and its great. We usually get the garlic parmesan sauce which is so so yummy, and the hot sauce on top! U can also ask for them on the side. The staff is friendly and pretty fast! The inside of the store (the one in dinky town) is very small but it's really not an issue. I love to bring people here and have them try Korean corndogs!

Makenna S.

Yelp
This is such an incredible snack place!! Got a potato mozzarella corn dog. The corndog was so sweet and crunchy, and the perfect balance of sweetly savory!! The service is pretty fast and I appreciate the quaint in and out type of place. It's so fun to be able to see the corndogs being made behind-the-scenes as well.!!

Michelle A.

Yelp
We were in line at Varsity Theater and this was in walking distance. I've had Korean hot dogs before. I ordered wrong and mine was just potatoes and mozzarella. There is literally nowhere to eat. We ate our mozzarella and potato dog on their waiting bench. No bathroom either. Everything is made to order. Had parmasean garlic and chili sauce as a topper. Ate inside and got back in line at Varsity for Shane Smith and the Saints.

Michael K.

Yelp
Not sure why folks have so many bad reviews about CrunCheese, you get exactly what you come for and it's pretty affordable, these aren't your average every day corn dogs, most come with the option to get potato's on the outside of the corn dog, which adds an extra textural component. They also have a handful of sauces and powders to add after the fact. I've been to this location about twice now and each time have left feeling satisfied. CrunCheese was my first time trying Korean corn dogs and the cheese pulls for instagram and social media are unmatched! I've tried just about each one except for the squid ink one, they even have sweet potato options, you can get a classic corn dog or you can be extra and try it all. Options are pretty endless for such a small shop! Everything is under $10 and just one regular corn dog with potato's and sauce is more than enough for one person. It's fun to go with friends to try the lot though!

Molly W.

Yelp
Delicious Korean corndogs, with lots of options/variations on the menu. It's a really tiny storefront, it was a little crowded with only us and two other people waiting for their food. It felt like it took a little long for our order to be ready, but they're frying it fresh which is nice. There is a worker. Who does the sauces for you, I wish we could have maybe controlled how much was put on. I loved the one I got, which was mozzarella and potatoes, drizzled with sweet chili sauce.

Lexy B.

Yelp
Bussin. The cook in the back did really good. I hope he gets paid good. I got the potato hot dog #5

joey s.

Yelp
I'm a big fan of unique foods, and this was that. To top it all off, everything was tmreslly good, especially with the right sauces on top. Out of the four I had I rank them. 1. Cheddar & Hotdog 2. Potato Hotdog 3. Squid-ink Mozza & Hotdog 4. Mozza & Hotdog

Thang T.

Yelp
Very small, cute corner shop selling a variety of different fried corndogs. Many options and easy to customize. Worth a visit if you're already in DinkyTown but otherwise I wouldn't subject myself to the parking situation to try it, however.

Holden H.

Yelp
CrunCheese now one of my favorite little quick stops to get my cheese/potato fix. I've had several of the menu items with various combinations of potato or sweet potato then garnishing it up with all the sauces and seasonings. They also had added a choco dog that was not there the first time I went and have now had it twice m, fair warning it is always super hot and super sweet so tread lightly but recommend you try it at least once. Service is always quick and easy, as i normally get two to three at a time. My go to is an all mozza with potato, garnished with honey mustard, ketchup and cheddar seasoning.

Beautiful G.

Yelp
I could eat 100 of these because they are just that good. I would 100% recommended the squid ink hotdog and jalapeño ranch combo.

Sydney S.

Yelp
I have been waiting to try these hot dogs, and happen to be on campus for a game and stopped in! It's obvious by the location that this is just a quick place to pop in. It's really just a small kitchen where they added a TV menu and electric payment kiosk. Although it wouldn't be my cup of tea, I think it's perfect for a college campus. We came in late on a Thursday and the staff were all very kind! We were talking to them about the restaurant and joking that they should stay open later for the drunk college kids. I ordered the mozzarella hot dog with potato on the outside. I loved the mozzarella half, but the hot dog was not good. Very cheap and not tasty. I was also surprised that it wasn't cheese around the hot dog, it was half cheese half hot dog. I loved the sweet chili sauce, and even had a hard time choosing what sauce to put on top! Overall, I'm definitely glad I tried this - but I probably won't be back. It's a good late-night drunk food if I got the all cheese.

Travis T.

Yelp
The potato mozzarella corn dog with a hot sauce and honey mustard drizzle was crispy on the outside and perfectly cooked in the inside. The inside of the store was nothing special and it was small.

Vivian C.

Yelp
CrunCheese "hotdogs" are like a corn dog on steroids. I was impressed by how perfectly they were fried and the many batter and sauce options to jazz them up. The menu looks small: fillings (hot dog, cheddar cheese, or mozzarella cheese) that are on sticks that will be dipped in a batter (panko, panko with squid ink, or panko with small French fried potatoes). Then a dozen sauces are available to be drizzled across the top. But this makes more combinations that you think! You can mix and match the fillings (can put two on a stick, like half hot dog and half cheddar) and also top it with one or more sauces at the end. After a small bout of analysis paralysis, I settled on a hotdog with French fry batter and a half mozzarella/half cheddar one. They are fried to order so the resulting treats were hot with tender and crisp coatings and gooey cheesy fillings. I can't wait to try a new creation next time!

Rachael M.

Yelp
I think this is such a cool place! They are known for their Korean style hot dogs. I recently visited & tried two! You can also find them when visiting Las Vegas, NV. I got the Squid Ink hotdog! This one is made with squid ink batter, loaded with mozzarella cheese, & a hotdog. I added sugar coating , sweet chilli sauce, and honey mustard. Next I did the Potato Mozzarella. This one had no dog, but all the cheese! I added cheddar cheese seasoning & mustard! Don't be worried about the crowd or line. They have it down and it went by pretty fast. I really waited 5-7 minutes during a evening dinner time. What a cool spot in Dinky Town! I'd definitely go back & try more!

Hanah L.

Yelp
I've been waiting for a Korean hotdog spot to open up in the Twin Cities and had to give it a try. They didn't list their hours anyway (not on Google maps and on their website). Thought I would go in the afternoon to hopefully avoid any lines, but learned that their soft opening hours are from 3pm - 10pm. I decided to wait ~1.5 hours for the place to open and stood in line about 15 minutes before they opened. I would say I waited around 30 minutes in line for my order to be placed and around 15 minutes for my order to come out. You can choose which sauce to put on the hotdogs which is such a nice touch. You can also get them coated in sugar or cheese powder for extra flavor. Original: 6/10 - it was a solid choice but nothing special Squid Ink: 7/10 - cute presentation but is basically the same as the regular hotdog Mozza & Hotdog: 8/10 - you get both cheese & hotdog. This is one of their bestsellers and you can't go wrong with it Potato Mozza & Hotdog: 9/10 - the best one imo! Really love the potatoes and how crispy it is Overall, it was definitely not worth the ~2.5 hours but absolutely worth a try! As someone who lives outside of Minneapolis, it's an inconvenient drive but will make a pit stop here when I'm in Dinkytown!!

Rachel H.

Yelp
This place is giving me big MEH vibes. Korean hotdogs are a staple across several countries right now. Finally become a little more popular in the states, CrunCheese is the first in the area to be serving these up. We waited months for this place to open, once they opened it still said/says temporarily closed on the Google page. But while grabbing a boba we noticed the line out the door and the lights on so we went. First thing you should know is you're going to be waiting. We've had Korean hotdogs before and knew we'd be waiting but plan to wait at least 20 minutes especially with it being new. We ordered six, yes SIX hotdogs. Four with a meat and two vegetarian. We wanted to order lemonade but they were out. We got our order about ten minutes after they said we would and confirmed how to tell the difference between meat and vegetarian. They're supposed to color mark the bottom of the stick. Once we got home I took a huge bite only to find sausage in my vegetarian hotdog. Major bummer since I don't eat meat. It's a pretty Penny to be outright disappointed and not be able to partake with everyone else eating. It was awkward. We certainly weren't going to drive 15 Minutes back just to wait another 25 minutes. Overall I wasn't impressed. It's starting to feel like they opened prematurely and should have worked out their kinks beforehand. Would I go back? Maybe. But not sure I can trust I'll be getting what I ordered.

Tracee T.

Yelp
I'm so excited I don't have to drive to the Chicago area for a Korean corndog anymore. I love these corn dogs! I tried the squid ink one for the first time and it doesn't taste fishy (for all the fish haters). This is a to go location. No eating on site and there's no tables outside. It's in a very popular eating area over by the U of M University with restaurants on every surrounding block. If you order a drink some where, maybe you can eat your corndog there as well?? The hours on Yelp say they open at 3 pm but we were there at 1:30 so not sure what their actual hours are?? Call ahead if you are driving from out of town just to be safe.

Yelp
This is for the location inside Asian mall in Eden Prairie. It wasn't a super busy Sunday but I wanted to try this place and it was meh. I ordered the potato corn dog with mustard, ketchup and sugar. The potato and coating were overwhelming compared to the dog. We also ordered a green matcha snow bing. It was too powdery and we ended up throwing most of it away. The neighboring table has a strawberry one that looked much tastier. I was a little disappointed because I really wanted to love this place.

Nicole N.

Yelp
I have seen Korean hotdogs allll over the internet for awhile and decided it was time to try it! First, this is the Minneapolis location and parking is a total pain!! I finally parked several blocks away so I wouldn't have to pay for parking. This is the college campus area so lots of people! This is a small corner place and there really is only enough space to order. The service here was fantastic! Everyone was so nice! I would come back for the service alone, but let's talk food! The cheese pull on these is insane! It is sooo good! Their are a a lot of different combos you can do as well as a bunch of different sauces/spices! This is such a good street food/ snack! There is no seating inside, so I took my food right outside since it was a gorgeous day! It's crunchy, cheesy, saucy... it's just hits so many points in what you would be looking for in a good salty snack. Between the service and the impressive cheese pull while eating, I would happy park even further to get these! Definitely worth trying if you haven't had these yet!

Kasey S.

Yelp
Yum!!! The workers were great, the food came out quickly, and a chruncheese hot dog is the perfect snack!! We were just walking by and stumbled upon the location, and it was the perfect food for us to take on the go.

Amy L.

Yelp
I am so happy there's now another one of these in Minnesota! I became a regular at the Dinkytown location, but since moving to the suburbs I missed it a ton. My food was delicious as usual. I get the cheddar hot dog with sweet chili and garlic parmesan (pictured). The service at both the Dinkytown and Eden Prairie locations was friendly and fast. My only critique would be that I wish the restaurant was a bit larger to allow the people waiting for their food to be inside without crowding. I get that this is hard to control though, and it's not a big issue for me to wait outside. Seriously try it if you're in the area! You won't regret it :)

Saumya C.

Yelp
I was so excited to see this Korean corn dog place in Minneapolis. I like the customizable options here. They taste amazing with the sauces they offer. Vegetarian friendly! It is small and pick up only the spot. Not much space to stand around but you can pick up your order and go outside to eat. The staff was friendly and answered all my questions

Keith E.

Yelp
Delicious food and excellent prices. Can't remember the last time I had a lunch that cost less than $12 and left me completely full. Ordered the squid ink mozz dog and a potato hotdog and went with the chef's recommendation for toppings, both were scrumptious.

Annie D.

Yelp
I'm soooo happy Korean corn dogs have found their way to the cities! I stopped at the location in the Asia Mall and will be back for sure. I got the potato mozzarella topped with sugar and Parmesan garlic sauce and then a hotdog mozzarella with sugar. I would love to try other combinations and I'm hoping more places start selling these! I do wish the hotdogs were better, I feel like they taste like a cheaper dog so going forward I'll probably stick with the all cheese ones. But this place was great and had a lot of topping options!

Lana T.

Yelp
OVERALL: I love the concept but I was waiting for it to be super delicious. FOOD: The batter is too sweet which is odd for a corn dog. I wish the mozzarella was on the outside of the hot dog so it wasn't just half of it cheesy and then it's the hot dog. The flavors are really just okay but it's a tasty snack just needs salt. ATMOSPHERE: It's a very very small location. You walk in, and then wait for your order outside. You will be waiting on a street corner if the line is long. PRICE: Most of the corn dogs are around $5-6. It's not really as cheap as it should be for a corn dog. Good to try once but after that I think you're good!

Justin J.

Yelp
This was the first time trying a korean style hot dog. It was delicious and the price was definitely reasonable. The small space means you don't want to come with a huge crowd, but it's worth a stop for a quick bite to eat. Service was kind and courteous. I do wish they would have more sides or options to make it more of a meal rather than a large snack/small meal. However, it's a good place to try. The squid ink dog was not overwhelmingly different in taste. The black-ish breading is what made the squid ink look different.

Luke X.

Yelp
This is the place to try Korean corn dogs. It has a wide variety of Korean corn dogs. They also have great sauce choices to make it even better! I dropped in on a Friday afternoon. There was a line from the register to the door. The place itself is small so the lines not too long. Most customers wait outside after ordering. They will use a mic to call your number when the order is ready. I wanted more than just breadcrumbs on a corn dog so I went for the potato dog. No regrets here! It was delicious! I had ketchup and jalapeño ranch sauce drizzled on potato dog. It was heaven! The wait wasn't bad so I definitely recommend trying it!

George M.

Yelp
Made to order which is great, but in the end I found the ratio of hot dog to dough to low and the overall flavor fairly bland.

Youssef A.

Yelp
The what is Arella potato and garlic ranch sauce was the bomb. The mozzarella is so well done and so hot you can search it up to 2 feet as you are eating it. My friends took both different dogs and one of them found out that the hotdog was low quality hotdog or your average adult nothing special. Another one said it was OK. However the five stars go to the mozzarella potato garlic ranch piece. The others I'd say it's four stars or less. Very very busy place you order and go and wait outside.

Carolyn W.

Yelp
Year round, better than state fair, food. Tucked into a tiny corner a block from the U of MN you will find this stomach-filling spot. There isn't any seating inside and you may have to wait a bit to get your order but you can't beat the taste of a Korean hot dog sprinkled with sugar and topped with ketchup and mustard! Sounds odd, who knew a hotdog inside a donut would be so good. You can opt out of the sugar and pick any sauce you desire so you have options to ease into the idea of sugar and ketchup! If you want just a treat opt for the rice cake version. Or get the dog and head down the street for moochi donuts.

Mo S.

Yelp
They recently opened in The Dinkytown area of Minneapolis serving up delicious Korean Style Hot Dogs. You pick your Hot Dog then add as much toppings as you want. It was my first visit and I was very impressed with the flavors. Below are the Hot Dogs and flavors I tried! * Mozzarella & Hot Dog- Topped with sugar, honey mustard, and ketchup. * Squid-Ink Mozzarella & Hot Dog- Topped with Jalapeño ranch.

Mary Y.

Yelp
I understand that they are very busy and they have a lot of customers. I am kind of cutting the slack, but really i pay 5 dollar for the potatoes corndog. They mixed up my order and because they were just so busy, i just decided to leave. I didn't have time to wait because they had so many people waiting inside and outside. I decided to leave, but I'm not sure if i plan on coming back anytime soon. Maybe once the hype is over, I'll try it again. I think for now I am willing to travel state for Korean corndog or make my own.

Akshay R.

Yelp
This is something new I visited and looked different to try it out. It mainly a fried hotdog shop with some new options. They do have limited chocolate hotdog for sometime which tasted good. Also I tried the cheddar hotdog and was good. They share the space with shaved ice shop too. They are quick in serving the food. It's a good place to try it out.

Ava C.

Yelp
Is this what it feels like to fall in love...with a corn dog??? This place was DELICIOUS. Keep in mind I already really enjoy corn dogs and this place knocked my socks off. Two of my friends and I went on a Saturday around noon. We were a bit concerned as it said on their website and on Apple Maps that they opened at 3 pm. However, on Google Maps and their storefront it says they open at noon on Saturday's. When we arrived we walked inside and immediately ordered. I ordered the meat and cheese & the squid ink with mozzarella and meat corn dog. After we ordered we took our ticket number and waited outside for about 10 minutes until our ticket numbers were called. When my ticket number was called I then got to choose what toppings to put on my corn dogs. I put honey mustard and ketchup on my meat and cheese dog. On the squid ink dog, I had it rolled in sugar and then got sweet chili sauce on the dog. IT WAS AMAZING. I loved the idea of rolling it in sugar and the flavors were impeccable. If you are in the mood for a treat your self meal this is the place to go.

Bobbie T.

Yelp
We tried Korean corn dogs from Cruncheese in Dinkytown. We rated the mozzarella corn dogs 3.5 out of 5 . They are good and something you should experience but more like a snack and nothing you would eat regularly. They reminded us of a mozzarella stick with a hot dog added. The potato corn dog could have passed as cheese fries, but lacked flavor. They have several seasonings and sauces that can be added. Think state fair food when going.

Nesha A.

Yelp
This place has become our favorite place to go! The food is delicious and I love the crunch of the corn dogs. When we first went, I accidentally ordered the potato corndog instead of the all cheese potato corndog and it turned out to be the best accident I made! LOL! The potato corn dog is really good! The crunch is chef kiss! I order it with the fixings of garlic sauce and cheddar cheese sprinkled on top. The burst of flavors combine so well together. I also order the half and half (cheese and hotdog) with the same toppings. The cheese pull is amazing! The place can get pretty packed and it's a bit small inside but so far, we didn't have to wait too long to receive or freshly made corn dogs. Give this place a try if you haven't already! You will NOT regret it!

Tshiab X.

Yelp
Food is great but the service.. eh not so much. Went and ordered a number 9 and when the food came out, I noticed that it was wrong. I looked at the receipt and I paid for a number 8 instead of 9. I told the staff that I ordered a number 9 and even apologized because I also didn't pay attention to the receipt and it was just a miscommunication. The cashier got irritated and was just giving off a bad attitude. I feel like I didn't even make a big scene and I even tipped so I wasn't sure why the cashier had to act the way she acted. It just really ruined my appetite. I would only give it a 1 star but as food wise, it wasn't all that bad. Hopefully this was just a one time experience.

Allen L.

Yelp
Small shop and the line is out the door.. typically for a corn dog place it's a decent snack! Worth a try if you're in the area.

Darla Y.

Yelp
Super excited that there's finally Korean corn dog here in MN! It's still a bit busy (as expected since they just opened recently) but I was able to order right away. waited about 20-25 mins to get my order. Overall, I liked it and would definitely go back again to try the other Korean corn dogs.

Matt A.

Yelp
I was really excited to try Korean hot dogs for the first time, but cruncheese seems to me like a very average place. It's a fun concept, but the high price combined with the long wait times (the store is small so lines are out the door usually) made for a subpar experience here. The best part of CrunCheese is the customizable menu and the different types of sauces and toppings that you can add for free. If someone has never had Korean hot dogs, I'd for sure take them here! But I'm not sure I'd go out of my way to eat here again.

Yelp
Delicious! We got it with cheese only inside and covered with potato pieces. There was a wait and we had to wait outside. There is a microphone outside that lets you know what number is being called up. Really yummy. Perfect addition to dinky town

Yelp
Very small and the line was super long. The hot dogs are delicious and the prices are very reasonable for how big the dogs are. Definitely be prepared to wait in line especially during lunch and dinner rush times.

Yelp
I love the food here. Super hot and crunchy...just the perfect combo. A little bit small if there's a lot of people waiting, otherwise, great little place a must try and must stop if you're in the area.
