London’s Best Christmas Drinks in 2018 - Eater London

"In among the concoctions at Cub — think tinctures of chicken feather or a beeswax Old Fashioned — there’s a December mystery malt being sold off by the £10 dram. All in aid of charity CALM, which provides support for men in mental health crisis. It’s only the most recent in a long line of powerful initiatives from this extremely conscious kitchen and the wider Mr Lyan community." - Virginia Hartley

Amazing restaurant. I have been there three times and it has consistently been great. They only have a tasting menu so no need to make decisions and the portions are a perfect size to make you feel full but not uncomfortable. The drinks pairings are also great as they do a mixture of cocktails and wine. I would highly recommend

Quite a great experience in this vegetarian/vegan restaurant. We really enjoyed the flavours, attention to detail from the staff, explanation from the dishes and of course, the pairing, which they can adjust as well for an alcohol free dinner. Food was tasty, with surprises in textures and flavours. Not rating higher just because you might end up bit hungry and price wise it's in the higher end.

What an experience! A combination of calm, relaxed and warm service, with incredible beverage and delicious yet challenging food. The venue is a small, cosy little space with the chef's behind the bar on display. The decor is chic and comfortable, and erring on the side of clean and minimal. From the get go the service was outstanding. We didn't have a booking but we went downstairs to the awesome "Superlyan" for a cocktail and got sat very quickly. The maitre de took our bags and took us to our comfortable booth. The set menu cost £60 (£50 for non-alcoholic pairings) and consisted of 10 courses. My wife's pregnancy didn't fase them and they had a whole menu prepared with just us complex drink pairings. The Passion of the team is evident by the pride they take in their work. Big shout out to Jean-Ignace who elegantly demystified the technical aspects of the dishes and bigged up the provenance of the ingredients. I've left feeling inspired and comfortably full. The best thing is the menu changes regularly so can go back again for another culinary adventure. Thanks Team Cub for a wonderful evening! 🥃🍸🤤🦁

Veg only tasting menu with interesting focus on reducing waste and local sourcing. Friendly service, casual low-key vibe, and great, clean cocktails as you’d expect from the Lyan team.

Good value vegetarian taster menu, full of unusual ingredients and full of flavours. Any menu that begins with Krug is fine by me! Sustainability and supply chain is clearly important here. The only elements I didn't like we're the bizarrely laid out (and somewhat pretentious) menu and the rushed, but otherwise excellent service. Head next door for superb cocktails afterwards at their sister bar Super Lyan....!

The concept emphasises the accompanying drinks as much as the food. It’s vegetarian, unfortunately, but they are going for a sustainable approach towards eating and in their view, meat and fish aren’t. The meal, as a result, isn’t as filling as it could be. It was however, very very good food. Unusual combinations and dishes were full of flavour, as were the drinks. We opted for the tasting menu, which at £45 isn’t expensive given this includes more than enough alcohol as well as food to feel relatively satiated. Stand out dish for me was the brined tomato starter. They were more than happy to accommodate a gluten free request and the service was attentive and very informative.

This was a special experience for us, 4 carnivores having a vegetarian (vegan apart from feta cheese in one of the dishes) meal and not even realising all the dishes were vegetarian until the last dish! Stand out dishes for us were the blood peach with cucumbers, mushrooms capers and turnips. The purple rice dish for us lacked depth and tasted like a knock off of the popular Thai dish purple rice and coconut. Wasn't sure if all the cocktails really brought out the flavours of the food. But the food in and of itself was creative and fun, and full of new combinations of flavours, and we really enjoyed our meal.

Creative, thoughtful, and delicious balanced courses with sustainably sourced ingredients and inventive drink pairings by Mr. Lyan (of Dandelyan fame). Beautiful chic interior with repurposed materials. Good service, good vibes, and incredible food. One of the best in London.
