I have mixed feelings about Cucina al Volo. First of all, we won a gift card here when they first opened and were SO thrilled to use it! Went to the location in Ballston Quarter and the employees were rude and said they didn't know how to redeem our digital gift card. Rather than making it right, they expected us to just pay for our meal, which we didn't want to do, so we just left and ate someplace else. This was in the fall of 2019. Fast forward to spring of 2020, and we somehow got on their email newsletter list. We ordered an Easter dinner (takeout) from their main location and were able to use the gift card (which was awesome, FINALLY!). Carefully picked a delivery time of 5:30pm because we were going to be out until 5pm. Delivery person left our meal at our door at 2:30pm. They called us once but we missed it, tried to call back several times and no one picked up. Got home and found out it had been sitting there for several hours. Very frustrating, especially during a pandemic. Emailed the company and they immediately responded and said it was busier that day that expected and they couldn't make the original delivery times. We were concerned about the cooked food/meat sitting out so long, but they assured us it was safe and instructed on how to heat in oven. I understand that they were just doing the best they could and this is a hard time for everyone, so we really appreciated the fast emailing back and forth. Would probably give 5 stars if we hadn't had such an initially negative in-person experience with the workers in Ballston Quarter!
