The 11 Best Bakeries In Mexico City

"Cuina is huge—there’s a big covered patio with several trees, one of which is in the center of a wraparound bar. If you’re there for breakfast and the pumpkin pancakes are on the menu, go for those. For lunch, our favorite dish is the fideuà de mariscos, which is basically a paella with pasta instead of rice. And if you’re just there for baked goods, the banana cinnamon roll and palmera de mantequilla are two of the best picks." - guillaume guevara

I read all the reviews before coming here and I was a bit worried. However, when we visited, it was a great experience. The place was open since 8, and we got there at 9, there was a 30 minute wait to be seated (there were 4 of us). We waited about 25 minutes and we were in. The waiter was really nice, the food was great and the place is very pretty. I can see how it could be harder to accommodate more people, but our experience was great.

We ate here for breakfast on Thursday morning. We got there around 9:15, and it wasn’t too crowded. We sat down and noticed they had a digital menu, but later we found out they also had regular menus. For drinks, we ordered a flat white and a hot chocolate. They were pretty plain nothing special and kind of small. Later, we ordered food. I got the chocolate pancakes, and my dad got a sandwich that the waiter recommended. The pancakes were kind of like cake, but still really good. My dad liked his sandwich too. While we were eating, the place got pretty packed. Our waiter was nice and spoke a little English. The restaurant itself was clean and had a nice vibe. Overall, it was a good place for breakfast.

The architecture and designed and decorations of this restaurant is traditional yet modern. Long high brick walls, open spaces and comfortable surroundings. We thought you needed to make reservations but this is not the case. Just show up and hopefully there's a table that you have to probably show up early. We were there by 9:15 and managed to get a table but when we left there was a line. I really dislike leaving a QR code on the table for people to look at menus on their phone. Not at a fancy restaurant. I did see they do have menus but we did not realize that while we were ordering. QR codes and phone menus I have no place and nice restaurants like this. Service is professional efficient and elegantly performed. We are visitors and understand that it is our problem that we do not speak the language and when we have wait staff who go out of their way to try to speak our language and help us does visitors it really makes us feel good. This was the case here. Our waiter made a recommendation for a breakfast that I would have never considered and the recommendation was much appreciated as the breakfast item was, amazing. The flat white was a slight interpretation of the original. Nevertheless it was good and beautifully presented. The hot chocolate is not as you would expect in Southern Mexico but it was still very good. Free filtered water was present on the table. It was confusing for us as we had never seen this before. My daughter who is in aficionado on chocolate pancakes, specifically chocolate chip pancakes ordered the chocolate pancakes. What we discovered was these are not traditional chocolate pancakes but more like a decadent chocolate birthday cake. 3 pancakes which were more like a chocolate cake then traditional United States pancake batter. A wonderful light chocolate icing, not like the fake stuff sold in American grocery stores, but real handmade icing. Tiny bits of handmade chocolate chips and caramelized banana on top. Just when you thought you had seen everything chocolate when you remove the top layer inside there is a pool of liquid chocolate syrup. This would be what I would call a chocolate lover's heaven. It received accolades from the expert who ordered it and I of course helped in the eating. I think it would be impossible for any human to finish this breakfast entree. The waiters suggested the chicken sandwich. I forgot I was in Mexico City, the home of the torta lovers. I told the waiter there were no eggs in it and he laughed and said no there are no eggs in it. I said but a sandwich for desyuno? He laughed again and said that for him it would be what he would order. I said I trusted him and got it. He was so right. I can only finish half of the sandwich but the sandwich was so juicy and tender with juice running down the side of my mouth almost with every bite. The salad was fresh cold and enjoyable with what appeared to be heirloom cherry tomatoes. Very good. Every drink and every meal coming out of that kitchen was better than the next. The grass seem to be always greener and there were so many things that we really wanted to order. I think what we got was very good for us but seeing everything that was going to other tables made us wish we could try everything. This is a really good restaurant and it would be highly recommended and a great missed opportunity if you do not come here for breakfast. They take credit cards specifically American Express.

Cuina is hands down one of the cutest and best cafés in Mexico City. The vibe is warm and stylish without trying too hard. The food? A fresh take on classic Mexican dishes — familiar flavors, but done with real creativity and care. Every bite feels intentional. Emmanuel’s service was impeccable — welcoming, attentive, and genuinely kind. This spot hits all the right notes, from food to atmosphere to hospitality. Definitely worth a visit (or two).

I have to say I was particularly unimpressed by the food. The place is extremely popular with lines out the door from when it opens. After a 30-40 wait the only thing that was worth while was the interior which was spectacular. The trees and structure of the tall building was impressive to sit and look at

The spot itself is gorgeous! We found the restaurant on random walk one morning and we were lucky enough to get a table right at the opening on a Thursday. I had the best cappuccino in CDMX during our stay and the croissant dulce de leche was a 10/10. I’d go back just for that. We also had the pancakes and chilaçuino. The pancakes are fluffy although I found that they didn’t taste like much and the maple syrup and cream were a bit bland. Whem comparing to the presentation and colors, the flavors were underwhelming. The chilaçuino was savoury and good but the bread and fried tortillas on it were unfortunately soggy. The staff is friendly but the wait was quite long to get our coffees, the food and the check. The surroundings make it very nice to wait for. There’s a nice atmosphere with jazz music in the background, plants, murals, etc.

Delicious breakfast in this beautiful modern and chic cafe. Amazing coffee, eggs, croissants and coffee. Really fresh, tasty and value for money. Must visit in Mexico City.

Absolute fabulous breakfast / brunch / lunch place in Roma. This place is beautiful and run very professional, service was immaculate, food was fresh, tasty and generous. Their breakfast pastries are of the highest quality with their croissants being one of the best. Their breakfast pancakes are a big seller for obvious reasons, they are big, fluffy and are served with fresh berries, syrup and vanilla cream. Definitely highly recommend Cuina!
