Being in Rockwall for just a week and fresh off a long drive, I wanted something close to my hotel and not too heavy. A good burger sounded perfect, so I decided to try Culpepper Cattle Co. From the moment I walked in, Josie and Faith at the front desk were incredibly welcoming. They answered all my questions and made me feel right at home — great first impression. I placed a to-go order, so I didn’t get the full dine-in experience, but while waiting I stepped out on the deck and caught a beautiful sunset. The outdoor area is spacious and inviting, though being close to the highway, I could see how it might get a bit loud during busy hours. I went with the Steakhouse Burger, which was really good — juicy, flavorful, and cooked just right. Josie and Faith both recommended the Smash Burger, so I might have to try that one next time. The fries were decent, but I have a feeling the full experience of dining in would make it even better. All in all, Culpepper Cattle Co. delivered exactly what I needed: great service, solid food, and a relaxing atmosphere to unwind after a long day.

We had the best dinner ever. The portions were huge and the steak was amazing. My husband and I shared the 24 ounce porterhouse steak. It was so thick and juicy, just amazing. Our waiter was really nice and kind. The atmosphere was also great. They had live music that night, and it was just right. Not too loud not too overwhelming, but perfect. Honestly, I can’t wait to go back again. This time I want to try brunch.

We celebrated my husband’s birthday here and had the absolute best experience thanks to our server, Megan. From the start, she stood out as super knowledgeable about the background of the restaurant and every dish on the menu. She gave amazing recommendations that made our meal even better. Megan was not only incredibly attentive and friendly, but she also went above and beyond to make the evening special for the occasion. On top of that, I even complimented her nails and she shared a tip with me—that’s how personable and kind she was! The food was delicious, the environment was beautiful, and Megan made it all unforgettable. If you visit, I highly recommend asking for her—you’ll be in great hands.

If they had 10 stars I would select them all! The service was the best I’ve ever had, Joseph was amazing. Each staff member made my mother’s birthday trip one of the best. We came on a Friday for the $10 fajitas and they were amazing! The firecracker shrimp was delicious, we had to order them again. Our waiter Joseph suggested the monkey bread dessert for my mother’s birthday dessert and, my sisters and I all raved about it for the rest of the day! Shaina was a great manager, she came and checked on us 15 minutes after we set down. There was another waitress who was helping Joseph and she was so kind! I could go on and on, but I pray I’m able to go back one day!

We had such a wonderful experience at Culpepper in Rockwall, thanks to our amazing waitress, Ashley! From the moment we sat down, she made us feel so welcome and taken care of. She was friendly, attentive, and had the perfect balance of professionalism and warmth. Ashley made great recommendations from the menu, kept our drinks full without us ever having to ask, and checked in just the right amount. It’s clear she truly enjoys what she does — her positive energy added so much to our evening. The food was delicious as always, but Ashley’s service made the whole experience exceptional. We’ll definitely be asking for her next time we come in! Thank you, Ashley, for making our night so special! 🌟

Awesome brunch buffet! So many awesome options. Very crowded but they do a good job of getting you taken care of. Recommend making reservations for sure. Our server Ashley was amazing. Super kind and nice and prompt. She had an amazing attitude even though we have multiple requests. She was also very knowledgeable about the menu and services offered. The omelette station was tremendous and my mom says the Mimosa was “strong”. We will for sure make this part of our after church rotation. And hopefully Ashely is our server! She is a valuable asset with amazing Godly energy.

This was the most overpriced and underwhelming steak experience I’ve had in recent memory. We ordered the porterhouse for 2 and it was a terrible cut, lots of gristle. The steak was undercooked and had zero flavor. The mac and cheese was sold as the best side and it also had no flavor and the cheese tasted like boxed mac. We wished we had gone down the street to Texas Roadhouse but thought we’d try something different. We won’t be back. Service was friendly and attentive, but that didn’t make up for the underwhelming food.

Culpepper Cattle Outdid itself!!!!! My Husband and I were Celebrating our 38th Wedding Anniversary on this date August 22. We went to the $10 brunch and had the most amazing time.....As soon as we entered we were warmly greeted, and seated right away. The ambiance of Culpepper was Supurb. The place was filled with many guest. The service was really great. We normally have a meal that is a little more expensive......but because we chose the special Brunch hour, we didn't have to. I would recommend Everyone to attend any time of the day for a Great meal/ time. We have been there numerous times. The Management & staff are Supurb...... Food is excellent from Brunch to Dinner. Culpepper will not disappoint.....

I went here with my wife for our anniversary on a Wednesday at 6:15pm. Wasn't crowded at all. We had the fried green tomatoes, 6oz filet, green beans, and cowboy potatoes. The food was delicious. Steak was cooked well, green beans and potatoes were also good. Had the highland margaritas. They were delicious and well made. They were expensive, but did not disappoint. I had 2. Any more would have been a problem. The service was highly attentive. I also noticed that the surrounding tables had prompt service. It appeared as if this was something the restaurant was putting a lot of focus on. Our server was very good. I think her name was Ainsley. The ambiance was quiet and we were able to converse without issue. The table was candle lit which was a nice touch. It was western themed, but not overdone. All in all we had a really great experience. I would recommend this place. They also had a really cool looking bar attached to the restaurant that was a little secluded from the dining area. I want to come back and check that out.

This was my third time eating here in the last 6 months. The first time was incredible, hence the next two visits. At our first visit, our party of 10 had a great experience, enjoyed the food, & the service was timely, kind, helpful. We had a couple of different appetizers, including the onion shoestrings, which were complimentary for our first visit. Everyone at the table ordered something different, & everyone enjoyed it. Our second visit was with my family from out of town. I raved about our experience & they wanted to try it for themselves. This experience was the opposite of our first. While the food was good & the server was kind, she was never nearby & 2 of my party of 5 didn't get their food until everyone else was finished. A manager discounted some of the food, although that wasn't the goal. We just really wanted him to know that perhaps some of the staff needed a little extra training. Our third visit was a party of 8 for Father's Day. We were sat outside where it was incredibly hot & the sun beamed on us the entire meal. Our server was very sweet, but also a little hard to find when we needed her. We never did get the tortillas & butter we were supposed to get before the meal, although it was mentioned many times. One person ordered the special & received his food long before the rest of us. He finished before anyone else got salads. We ordered a queso appetizer, & when it finally came out about 20 minutes later, they didn't bring us any chips. That took another 5 minutes. I want to reiterate that the server was very kind. I just think she may have needed a little extra help! Fast forward to when we get our salads, the meals came out almost immediately afterwards. That wouldn't be that big of a deal, but 3 out of 6 meals (the 7th has already been eaten) were very cold. The food had to have been ready for quite some time & just never brought to us. I'm writing a review because this wasn't something that I wanted a discount for, or something that I wanted to make a big stink about. I do think that there are some very big kinks in the service department that need to be worked out. I hope this improves, because the food really is good.

Fantastic layout and rustic look , very friendly staff , decent prices . Now the serious review starts. I order a margarita. It shows up in a 8 oz glass with 6 oz of ice and maybe 2 sips of flavored water no taste of much other for $12 . More about this later. Then I ordered it 10 ounce prime rib my brother-in-law ordered an 8 ounce sirloin . my prime rib was thin with a lot of fat. I had ordered cowboy potatoes. I ended up getting a sweet potato, but they added cowboy potatoes to make up for it I don't know where a young gentleman comes to the table with no identification whatsoever who he was and starts, explaining the excellence of their drink making. No introduction who he was or apologetic for the misunderstanding or any offer to make it better just very defensive on their week drink mixing. Lousy meat quality , watered down drinks , rude manager. That sealed their fate me on no future visits .

We had 6 in our party. 4 of the meals were fantastic. The two people who had fried food were not impressed as they felt their food was over cooked , it was coconut shrimp and chicken fried steak. Which the manager removed both from our ticket. That said into the good. The Caesar salad was phenomenal, the chicken and sausage meal was great, juicy and tasty. Mom loved the chopped beef and dad loved his chicken fajitas. We had never been to culpeppers before but will def be back. The decor is so pretty, the service was great and food was almost all perfect.

I have wanted to try Culpepper since moving to the Rockwall area in 2009 but then we moved. Now that we are back I decided that the day before Valentine's Day would be a great time. Then I saw the reviews... and was turned off. So glad I didn't let a few harsh critics stop me from going. The ambiance is very Texas-y which I LOVE! Cowhide chairs, horn chandeliers, etc. Service was great! Vivian was really busy and she forgot my sweetener for my tea but the rest of the service was fantastic. Maybe because it was a Tuesday night? My husband and I had the porterhouse for 2. It was a great price and very tasty. My complaint was the side item choices were all carbs except for green beans. The guacamole was not good, very acidic, the lime juice was covering the underripe avocado. For a steakhouse, I wish they had more options on the cuts of meat they serve. I found the prices to be on par with a Saltgrass, not overpriced at all. The triple chocolate cake looked very rich and overindulgent- I was bracing myself for something super sweet but to my delight, it was not! Very light chocolate flavor, even the frosting was not super sweet. I will be back for the cake alone.

This was our first visit to Culpeppers in 12 years. The new C3 stands up to the long running tradition of Culpeppers history. The place looks great and the staff was exceptional. I can't wait to sit out in the new patio. Tonight we had a few items off the menu. First off the homemade tortillas were hot, fresh and as soft as a cloud. The steak finger calamari is hands down, the best calamari I have ever had. The chicken fried steak tastes like Texas. Tender, crispy and delicious. The green beans had snap and a lot of flavor. The cowboy potatoes did not disappoint. The Culpepper chicken was tender and juicy with a touch of smoke. I'm pretty sure we had an entire onion fried to perfection. We took half of the food home and regretted not having room for desert. We'll get the key lime pie on the next visit. Big shout out to Ainslee, she was a great server.

Alyssa & Brant were our servers. Wonderful job servicing and engaging with our family 10/10 or 5 out of 5 stars. Call this a place I'll be frequenting regular!

We really enjoy this restaurant. Very glad to still see it standing here and going stronger than ever! We celebrated my boyfriend's birthday here one year and they made it very special in the wine room. The steak was very good and cooked perfectly. Service was excellent. The ambiance is very unique unforgettable.

We went for lunch and was pleasantly surprised. Everything was wonderful. For appetizers we ordered the spinach dip and fried green tomatoes . I had the garden salad with blue cheese dressing. 10 out of 10! I also ordered their expensive margarita that came in a rock glass. Was my least favorite little light on the alcohol for a $20 drink. Overall would visit again.

Appertizer of onion rings had a nice balance of coding and onion not greasy a major plus! Serice was a bit off at first waited to get noticed after we sat down, server didn't notice two large glass cracks in my water glass and had to ask another server for a different water glass, wait on food time was sufficient, noise level was high as the band started playing in the room we were sat our table sat between two wall speakers made for difficult listening on our verbal conversations. Overall a good place.

It was just not a good dining experience -- the wait time for any type of service (drinks, food, questions) was ridiculous. The serving staff was pleasant enough, but they seemed to be very disjointed, inattentive, and unaware. It also seemed that the reservation details (booked online through the Ressy portal) were not relayed to our hostess/server as we requested patio seating but were placed inside directly next to another party which would have infringed on the intimate meal we were seeking; I also notated that we were there for a birthday, yet there were no steps taken to recognize that as I have come to expect from other steakhouse dining experiences which was disappointing. I might return to or recommend this location conditionally as I did appreciate our waitress's professionalism in acknowledging and validating our frustrations at the evening.

Man, we were excited to come here for my son's graduation dinner. We last came here for his 16th birthday and it was amazing. WHAT HAPPENED? This isn't the place we fell in love with. The dining room is freezing. The tortillas are random and although it fits the Tex Mex theme, it was not what we expected or wanted. The appetizers were mediocre. The steaks were NOT the highest quality. I cook steaks and these were Waffle House meats and certainly not "Prime" quality. I think there was one bartender working. First round of drinks came when dinner got there. The second round came when we were all done with the food. The dessert options were cheesecake and key lime pie. Again, disappointing. The worst part is that our bill was over $600 before the tip. That is crazy. The only thing that was working well for them are the hostess and servers. As other people have said, it would be a good idea to save your money and go elsewhere. To me, they're not really trying.

The Patio is very cool. Love the Waterfalls. Jacobie the bartender makes a Great Margarita. They have an awesome staff at Culpepper Cattle Co. I'll be back on Monday to watch the Solar Eclipse.

Last night went to Culpeppers for a delayed Mothers Day outing. Sat on the patio and from the second our group sat down until we left everything was top notch. Cucumber margarita drink was smmmmooottth, homemade chips and tortillas-fresh. Filet amazing, service (Justin) impeccable. Really, like really recommend. Excited to go back to try other things.

Decided to eat here for a last minute birthday lunch and they were able to quickly accommodate a group of 9 of us with no problem. We had out of town guests with us and were trying to avoid having to drive all the way to Dallas for a good meal, but also find a place close by that would have something that everyone would like - including picky kids. I honestly had low initial expectations considering the 3.6 yelp stars but our lunch turned out better than I thought it would. Service by our waiter, Davis, was excellent. The fresh tortillas were warm and delicious. The lunch entrees were pretty average in taste, but nothing to complain about. Everyone ate most of their meal. We ordered sandwiches, tacos, salads, grilled shrimp, and steak. Dessert was very good also. We ordered chocolate cake, key lime pie, and a slice of cheesecake and finished them all. Overall it was a good dining experience and I'm glad we chose it for our family celebration in Rockwall.

Outstanding! This was a great choice for Mothers Day Lunch. We had a party of 9 so we had a reservation. We were seated promptly. Our waiter did a great job. He was attentive and timely. Everyone's food choices were terrific. Steaks, chicken and salmon were all prepared perfectly, and oh my that sweet potato! I'm so glad this place didn't close its doors. I understand the new owners had some things to work out but our visit was on point! I did wish they still had valet since it was a rainy day, but we didn't melt!

Word to the wise, this is NOT the Culpepper's of past. If you haven't been since the new owners took over beware, this is no longer an exclusive steakhouse. My daughter had heard it was back open under new ownership so we decided to give it a try with hopes of what it used to be. What we got, the good, the bad and the ugly. The good: cocktails were on point, service was great and oddly, good tortillas. The bad: appetizers were mostly good (the firecracker shrimp was oddly good but didn't really fit the Tex Mex/steakhouse menu) and were very overpriced for the portion sizes, the steaks are no longer good quality steaks and are more comparable to what you'd get at places like Applebee's or Luby's, the temperature of the dining room was FREEZING , the Mexican food they now serve is nothing to brag about. The ugly: they have replaced the wonderful bread they used to serve, with tortillas, the perfectly prepared calamari is a thing of the past, the queso is Campbell Soup quality, the shrimp tacos were nothing to write home about AND lastly, this is not a $525 worthy restaurant (our bill plus tip). For that price, a trip to Nick and Sam's or Bob's chop house would have been way more satisfying. Save your money and make the trip else where.

First time back since Culpepper re-opened. The food was perfection! The service was excellent. The background music was even a great selection. Car say enough good things. Highly recommend!

This is the third time I've tried to make reservations and again no seating inside for dinner. What does it take to get a reservation for dinner at this place? Grew up going here in the 80's and 90's and we have been wanting to try the new revised Culpepper Cattle but have been unsuccessful at getting a reservation, guess I'll try again another time.

Must be under new ownership now went back and had steak and lobster again. The lobster does not taste the same at all. The steak was terrible instead of bread had these tortillas that tasted like they came from a store-bought tortilla It was just a terrible experience we will not be back.

11/25/2023 Our 20 year anniversary. We have been long time customers, every birthday, valentines day, anniversary this was our place foe many years and I am sure many others feel the same. No more fine dining in Rockwall, so sad. They may as well label it a Chilis, but Chilis food is a bit better. It is now just another sad tex-mex restaurant, like we don't have enough? Don't get me wrong, i love Chili's but its not a fine dining establishment and does not claim to be. I wish I knew where the Culpeppers Steakhouse chef went. So sad, this was an icon in the area and now its gone. If you like casual tex-mex food you will enjoy, but if you are looking for the fine dining steakhouse experience it used to be then do not bother.

Stopped in kind of last minute, actually on my way to another place to eat. But when I saw this place, and had heard about it before, thought I'd give it a shot. It's a pretty nice place, my guest and I were seated without any wait at all. The appetizer was pretty good, and the service was good, and things stopped about right there. My steak was undercooked and not at all like I ordered it, and was like trying to chew a rubber boot, it was that tough. I ordered an after dinner drink, and what I got, was pretty bad. It was almost as if the bartender only went half way on it, and didn't finish making it before the server brought it to the table. The server came by later to ask about the barely touched drink. When I told her how bad it was, that it was t anywhere close to what I ordered, she was apologetic, but made no attempt or offer to make it right. For the bill I got, it was not worth the trip in. I'll keep on going next time, to somewhere else. I was rather disappointed with my experience there.

We had the best time celebrating our anniversary here! The food and drinks were outstanding. The ambiance was perfect. Our servers were so friendly and helpful. We couldn't have asked for a better night.

The new ownership has really turned around Culpeppers. It's such a unique venue, but the food at the original incarnation was not good. Since the new ownership took over we've been to Culpeppers 3 times. Each time our cocktails were terrific, the steaks were perfectly medium rare just like we like them and the service was above and beyond. On the weekends there's usually a band playing as well, which I enjoy. You should definitely check it out!

Not the same. Took my parents for their 50th wedding anniversary which I reserved way ahead time for a large party and we were stuck way in the back corner very tightly squeezed in. Then they messed up more than half the orders and the food was subpar. Someone else compared it to Chili's, that is a good analogy.

The service was the best I have had in Rockwall. Andrew was super friendly and pleasant. He also made some great recommendations. The firecracker shrimp, fillet, mac and cheese, and creme brûlée are all items I would order again. The creme brûlée and mac and cheese were the best I've had in town.

Culpepper has a great atmosphere and cool vibe inside and outside of the restaurant. The service was a great with waiter and a manager stopping by to ask if everything was ok. The food was very appetizing appearance wise and uber-delicious. Fabulous restaurant experience overall!! We will definitely be back again soon!

I don't know where to begin, but Culpepper's after new ownership is 5 star! Would give 10 stars if I could!! The service was an absolutely amazing, the food was 10/10, and they changed the setting a little. The lighting is pretty romantic with a laid back vibe. Would love to see this place thrive under new management!

While in town from San Diego, we discovered Culpepper Cattle Company. I was craving authentic Texas Mexican food, while my boyfriend had his heart set on a high-quality steak. The fusion of Mexican and steak options made this stop an easy choice. I had the sour cream enchiladas, and my boyfriend got the C.A.B filet--both dishes exceeded our expectations. Davis, our server, provided excellent service, and the GM Bill went out of his way to check on us, adding a personal touch to our experience. Without a doubt, we'll be back on our next trip to town. Highly recommended!

I'm really impressed with Culpepper. I got delivery and I ordered the 6 oz filet mignon, cooked medium well. I was extremely appreciative that they didn't overcook it. I have had bad luck ordering a steak medium well and getting it per specifications. But this was very flavorful and juicy and tender. I haven't had a steak that good in about 5 years. I also got a loaded baked potato and a side salad, both were great. Seems like a lot of places don't even try to make the sides taste good, but the salad and baked potato were excellent. Next time I'm going to try to get some friends to go there with me. It's more than I'm used to paying but it's really worth it. Since my order was delivered, I didn't experience the service or the ambiance. But I can't wait to try it, SOON!

My family and I finally had the pleasure of dining at Culpepper's last week. Initially, we were a bit apprehensive about the new ownership takeover. However, our server, Luke, truly elevated our experience with his exceptional service. He reassured us that the cherished Culpepper's legacy had been preserved and impressed us with his extensive knowledge of the company's history and the menu offerings. Speaking of which, the food was absolutely phenomenal, leaving us completely satisfied. I wholeheartedly recommend Culpepper's to anyone seeking a delightful evening out. Needless to say, we are already looking forward to our next visit!

Never thought I'd be the one to make a review on a restaurant, but low and behold- here I am. A few friends had suggested I come here, so me and my wife went ahead and tried it. Our server was hardly welcoming at all- had bad energy and was dismissive and rude. VERY unprofessional- could see the server mingling with other servers while other tables in our same section were awaiting service. When we finally were approached again to order we went ahead and put in two cocktails... it took 30 minutes for them to hit our table! Not only that, but our steaks we ordered as well were supposed to be medium rare but were WAY overcooked and hard to slice and chew. When we complained and got our food sent back, it took another 20 minutes for our new steaks to come out which we're STILL not the right level cooked. After that, me and my wife called it quits & payed our bill with a half empty stomachs. I'm not usually picky when it comes to restaurant and service- but this blew me away. Thanks a lot Culpepper.

Love the nostalgia of Culpeppers. New ownership trying to merge gen 1 & 2 into a new gen 3 concept. Missing the mark, you can have "prime" steak and Mexican food all at prime steakhouse prices.

We were celebrating a significant anniversary with another couple who suggested Culpepper Cattle. After a conversation with the waitperson about the steak quality, we followed his suggestion and both couples ordered the Prime Ribeye. WHAT a DISAPPOINTMENT!! I had cooked a nice Prime Tenderloin at home with meat from a supermarket just a few days before and have had Prime beef often. To paraphrase texas legend Lloyd Benson, I know prime beef; Prime beef is a friend of mine, but sir, this was NOT Prime beef. Our steaks were full of gristle and looked liked they had been " tenderized" with a mallet given it an odd appearance. So, I failed to mention the nice atmosphere and nice music, all top notch. If they let me come back and bring my own meat, I might try it again. We mentioned it twice to the waiter who said he would tell the manager. As we were walking out she asked " how was everything?" I her told basically that their Prime steak would not match an average choice steak. ( BTW, I would have preferred a hamburger steak, at least I could chew it without spitting out the gristle.) In my career I have been very forgiving of mistakes when the other party makes or at least attempts to make correction.

I have tried Culpeppers twice since the reopening and have been disappointed both times. Ordered fried shrimp and house salad. The salad came out first and then the shrimp second. The shrimp were in just a bowl, no sauce, no garnish, just a bowl of shrimp. Asked if they had sauce and was told no tartar sauce or cocktail sauce but they had steak sauce......so just a bowl of fried shrimp for $19.

The food was amazing!! I really enjoy the coconut shrimp, and Kristina recommended the avo-suave margarita from the cocktail menu which was DELICIOUS. 10/10 experience and I will be returning!

Culpepper's used to be our family go-to back in the 90's and early 2000's but as the food got more expensive and lower quality, we quit going. I was thrilled that it had changed ownership and heard rumors that maybe they were really coming into their own again but we were disappointed in the food and the prices. The service and ambiance were great however. The starter tortillas with butter were a bit ridiculous instead of their former dinner rolls...only one of us got a steak, the 8 oz sirloin, which she said was so tough, she could hardly chew. I got the coconut shrimp, which was ok, others got the salmon and the chicken fried steak, again only ok. The salads were right out of a Kroger bag, but at least the entrees came with a side and salad to help justify the price. It was wonderfully nostalgic, but not someplace I'd go back to very often.

The servers are always so friendly and welcoming no matter how many times you've eaten here. The food is great, you can't beat the ribeye steak it's the best. The fire cracker shrimp appetizer is delicious. The noise level is great compared to other steakhouses around town. Dry enjoyable place for a date or dinner with the family!

Second time I have been here and the food and service have been amazing. The waiter was more than attentive and took care of us the whole night. I recommend any steak, the cook on each one has been perfect.

Very nice staff. Great food. I had the country fried steak, a couple beers, and salad. All was fresh and cooked to perfection. Beautiful deck and great additions coming based on the personal tour I got!

We had a rocky start... being sat in the center was not an option for me and asked to sit in the booth across from the table being sat at. I got a look that was piercing from the hostess and then I said please... she accommodated us. Brittany was our server! She is such an amazing person and server. Her sense of humor and her sassy demeanor was so welcomed and appreciated. We had the filet which was cooked a perfect rare! Food and atmosphere were both great! The hostess wearing the sweater and with the ratty blond hair needs to go- overall our experience was a great one!
