The New Atlanta Restaurant Openings You Should Know About

"We're fans of the original spot on Howell Mill, so we're happy that Cultivate is taking their halal, vegan-friendly, and gluten-free breakfast options to more parts of the city. This new location adds another daily brunch option to The Battery. " - juli horsford, jacinta howard

Cultivate Food & Coffee - Review - The Battery - Atlanta - The Infatuation

"Cultivate is a reliably good brunch cafe suited for The Battery’s big crowds and those who like ample choices. Food comes out quickly, so even the booths filled with large parties turn over as fast as the bar counter seats. And you can come in with a big family knowing the busy menu has a bit of everything to interest just about everyone. Think: Southern classics (we see you juicy chicken biscuit), tasty hash scrambles, build-you-ownr skillets, and decent waffles—along with plenty of halal, vegan-friendly, and gluten-free breakfast options. Food Rundown Build Your Own With half of the menu dedicated to building your preferred hash skillet, platter, or breakfast sandwich, these choices should embolden the picky person in your brunch crew to let loose. Start with base options, like seasoned roasted potatoes (our preference) or a flaky biscuit, before assembling your proteins (eight options including fish and vegan eggs), cheeses, vegetables, and sauces. We won’t try to persuade your picky friend too hard, but get a side of vinegary housemade hot sauce to smoother over your scrambled eggs. photo credit: Nina Reeder Vegan & Gluten-Free Beignets Even with assistance from strawberry and chocolate dipping sauces, these beignets are dry and mealy. Skip them. photo credit: Nina Reeder" - Nina Reeder

I really wanted to enjoy my experience here, but the service from the host completely ruined the start of my visit. Despite there only being about four tables occupied in the whole restaurant, the female host in the red shirt and glasses didn’t acknowledge me a single time. I sat patiently for 14 minutes, closest table to the host stand, and she never came by to take my drink or food order, or even offer a simple “I’ll be right with you.” Two other guests who arrived after me were seated and served before I finally had to go up to the bar myself to place my order. Even after that, she didn’t check in, bring water, or ask if I needed anything. I can only imagine how many people get overlooked when it’s actually busy, like on Braves game nights. That said, once I made my way to the bar, the experience got better. The staff at the bar were kind and helpful, and the food itself was great. I had the vegan brunchadilla and it was flavorful and well-prepared. The bar host went out of her way to make sure I was taken care of, and I really appreciated that. Great food and cool concept, but unless they get a host who actually pays attention, a lot of customers are going to walk out before they ever get to try it.

The Food Was Absolutely Delicious, And The Experience Was Amazing!!! The Head Chef, Becca Banks, Personally Came To Our Table And Delighted Us With Her Beautiful Personality! 😍 The GM, Anton Jones, Made Sure To Keep A Smile On My Face, And Gave Us Complimentary Champagne! This Is DEFINITELY My New Favorite Restaurant. Keep Up The Great Work! #444

This place is fantastic for my boyfriend and I! They have plenty of options for my dietary needs while satisfying his taste! The coffee was delicious and the food was very filling! I had the Vegan Brunchwich and potatoes, boyfriend had breakfast tacos, we both loved our food! Parking is free for the first two hours at the garage!

I used to love this restaurant off of Howell Mill & when they first opened at the Battery. As a vegan since 2015, I will always appreciate a menu with numerous labeled vegan options; especially for brunch 😍. They definitely had vegetarian options & also some gluten free options. However, they were severely understaffed on a Sunday at noon. My mom & I waited 30 minutes for a table to be cleared from the last guests, and to be acknowledged by the staff. I was standing by the edge of the table waiting to flag someone down, but they were too busy. Then, after someone helped us who wasn’t serving that area, it took another 20 mins to order. The staff were kind and polite, but it looked like only two were serving the entire restaurant. The dining experience was very lackluster, and not what you would expect at the Battery - and for the price. We were served plastic cups for water. I ordered a hot blue nectar latte, and it was served in a to-go cup; I was going to do an Instagram reel, but there was nothing to show. I did notice alcoholic beverages were served in glasses. I ordered the vegan brunchadilla, which was pretty good, aesthetically and taste-wise. They were out of the vegan bread for the breakfast sandwich. My mom ordered vegetarian waffles, and they didn’t come with butter. It took about 10 mins for the staff to come back around to ask about the butter. The bathrooms reminded me of when you are at a baseball game, football game, or a track meet. They were not very tidy or charming. I wanted to get in and out as quickly as possible. One plus I can end on is that there were a few families with small kids, who seemed to feel comfortable and relaxed. There were even a few games out for the kids to play.

It’s good but I’d probably choose Goldbergs now that I’ve had both. The food is good. The coffee is good. The service was ok. The atmosphere is pretty nice. None of it was wow though. I expected smoked salmon to be like the nova at Goldbergs and other brunch places I’ve been to. Instead it was fully cooked and chopped to bits. The grits weren’t great either. Everything else was good and the waffles were pretty great. Our server might have been new and didn’t seem to be getting much support from the rest of the team. The price was a bit more than Goldbergs too. Our orders weren’t exactly the same but the total was about $20 more here and not better by that amount.

Google
Vegan Brunch menu! They have a full vegan brunch menu! The food was absolutely delicious! Best vegan breakfast I’ve had to date. The atmosphere and restaurant are chill and very staff member I encountered was very friendly. I went twice while I was visiting in Atlanta.

Met some friends here for brunch. I had coffee and a veggie omelet- both were good. The service was good as well - it was easy to change tables when our party was larger than expected. Thexservers were attentive and pleasant.

Google
Street corner pin with grub, with moderately priced decent food with a short menu. Service was sparse but friendly. Our table of 8 was seated quickly, orders taken in decent amount of time, however food was delivered in stages, with 4 different staff members delivering the food in 5 separate trips with 2 -3 additional trips for corrections of the order. Napkins were scarcer then hens teeth,

Yelp
Food was great, had nice vegan options. It's hard to find vegan options in ATL and so I was sooo excited for them to open a location at THE BATTERY! Smyrna needed a spot with good vegan choices! Their vegan hash is my favorite for brunch. The potatoes are super crispy and flavorful. I think the portions were fair so I would definitely order again and possibly try the salmon hash next time. Not to mention their coffee was incredible! Had the honey oat iced shaken espresso drink and would return just to get that!! Service was good too, my server was very attentive and made sure I was okay. She made sure my food and drinks came out on time which I appreciated. I would definitely recommend this breakfast and brunch spot!

Yelp
Overall, I will say this was our first time at the cultivate location in the battery as we were frequent fliers of the one on Howell Mill and loved it. I will say this location is slightly different in setup but is still seat yourself. I do like their expanded menu options. I will say service could be slightly improved but still was not poor. On to the food my meal was great and I highly recommend the French toast burger. I will say the coffee was good but wished they offered the same latte deal that they do at Howell Mill. With that said we will definitely be back at some point.

Yelp
I was a long time fan of the Cultivate Kitchen concept. After visiting the location in the Battery today, I won't be back. I ordered the Chicken & Waffles, my Husband ordered the French Toast... everything was off. We each had a side of bacon, cooked half crispy half rubbery.. not good. Actually, in the south ya'll know better than that. The bacon was offensive. The waffle crumbled under my fork, tasted like dough. Not sweet, no crispy edges. Something in the batter composition was off. The french toast was gross and dry. No vanilla flavor at all. If there was vanilla, it was overpowered by the almond extract in the batter. The whole place was smoky, we left smelling like bacon. After waiting forever to get bad food, there was an automatic gratuity added for a party of 2. Never actually saw my check. Just paid the waitress on her handheld and left. Not worth the time or the $75 we spent for Breakfast, with rubbery bacon & lukewarm coffee.
google avatar

Greg F.

Yelp
Ordered at the counter, saw the automatic gratuity quietly get added to the bill before he flipped the tablet around. Asked for additional gratuity. A restaurant should NEVER be blindly adding a service / gratuity charge. Got an iced coffee which was pretty great. Also had the wagyu burger which was definitely just a frozen patty from the grocery store. If you come here, stick to the coffee and watch out for the hidden gratuity!

Yelp
My first time dining at this location. It more like a cafeteria feel. They have a full bar with coffee and beer on tap. Good for groups with ample long tables for larger groups. We were sat immediately, the staff is polite. Some of the menu items are labeled GF but are not so make sure to check- they have not updated their menu. Our food came before our drinks but drinks arrived right after . The food looked good, was temp hot. My mocha chaga was a bit too sweet for me and my husbands golden latte was okay. The food was good. I have a thing about wait staff and phones... it's personal but cell phones carry a lot of germs and some of the wait staff are on their phones while working. A bit of a turn off for me but I also recognize it's a personal pet peeve. Other than that, there are other menu items I'd like to try so may be back!

Yelp
I had a timmmmmmmeeee last night! (I'm still in the bed)...thanks to Cultivate! I THOUGHT I was going to slide through for a quick peep to check out this new restaurant I found on IG, was suppose to go to an another themed Christmas restaurant. (So much for my destination 2!) Seriously thanks...Iooking back at the footage we all had a ball w/the staff! When I say the FREE food ((((ribs, the shredded chicken, pork&beans ))))was hitting, OMG! Also, thank you for the gift card I won playing Xmas Bingo, the vibes from your hospitable staff, the bad ass DJ, the gorgeous young lady Shruti (from Paris) I chatted with ! It went from dining to LIT so much so, I got up out my seat to indulge in a few line dances. I love my yelp life in yelpatlanta We da best! It's the moments like this when you pop in a business & they just make your whole nite a hellAH VIBE!!!!! For this, I'll be back soon. Yelp
Came in here on Wednesday night with some girlfriends because we were intrigued about their $6 happy hour drinks and 1/3 of their menu was 30% off. There wasn't a lot of people sitting at the tables but the bar was pretty full. I feel like they only had one guy working which mwas interesting but he was pretty attentive maybe a little too attentive at times...kinda felt a little rushed to pay once we finished eating. We ended up ordering the lamb chops with Rosemary mash and Brussel sprouts and my friend ordered the seafood pasta. We also ordered the happy hour margaritas and my other friend ordered rum punch. So our margaritas were kinda gross and tasted like salt water because salt was on the rim. It would've been nice to have been asked if we wanted anything on the rim but they didn't. My lamb chops meal was pretty good but it could have had just a tad more salt? My friend said her pasta was pretty good but a bit too salty lol. Also there were flies inside so that was a bit annoying to constantly swat away the flies and there were also caked on flies on our water pitcher and water glasses. Overall the vibe inside is cool and they have pretty good music too. Not sure if I would rush back but maybe I should come for brunch because that menu seemed a bit better.

Yelp
I really enjoyed the Howell Mill location and have visited the Battery location twice now. The service is pretty good, but the food is just okay.

Yelp
My friend and I stopped by here during a braves game to grab a quick bite before the game. I went with the chicken sandwich which came with a side of fries for $13. While I was expecting a normal chicken sandwich, this one was actually quite delicious! I loved how the chicken was flattened and seasoned super well. It wasn't dry at all, and even though it was bigger than the bun, it wasn't that difficult to eat. I asked for a side of the avocado mayo which paired really well with the sandwich. The fries were crispy, but I do wish there was some seasoning for it. Overall, it's a cute addition to the Battery. They serve plenty of drinks and coffee and food as well. There is plenty of seating inside as well. Our food came out within 10minutes, and can't wait to come back and try some of their other food items when there isn't a game!

Yelp
Here's is their version of a butter croissant: a smashed Kroger. Food was awful. Service just as bad (no utensils) ...and bathroom was a dump - no toilet paper , so they have us napkins. Let's go to Waffle House. Welcome to Georgia

Dana W.

Yelp
The establishment was very inviting but the host was lack luster I believe her name was Diamond! The owner and manager had amazing customer service and did a great recovery after the host was going to allow my party if 4 to leave because she stated we could not place a food order. They definitely need better hostess that already understands what good customer service is. Not sure if I would go back because the menu was that's great and the glasses were brought to us dirty!

Yelp
While in Smyrna/at The Battery with my girlfriends, we decided to get ourselves a little caffeine boost. I just went along with the plans, little did I know, Cultivate has this new location in The Battery! (How late am I? lol) I'm a big fan of the OG Cultivate Food and Coffee location where I love to enjoy breakfast and do some remote work, I was hyped when I realized that we were checking out their new location. This was a Saturday early afternoon and it was such a welcoming spot! Their doors were wide open and we could see clear into the restaurant on that beautiful sunny day. It seems to be bigger than the original location or perhaps it's just the layout, but it seemed extremely spacious and open in the same neutral design style. What differs about this location is the incredible bar and bar seating. I didn't go there for a drink, but in the future when I want one while in The Battery, it's good to know that Cultivate can offer a boost beyond the coffee beans. The restaurant was surprisingly empty when we arrived (never the case at the other location and I wish we didn't already have lunch plans!) but we still decided to take a seat at the bar since we were ordering coffee to go. A young man greeted us and gave us menus to look over upon entry. We all kept it simple with iced coffees of different varieties and all were made quickly, but with love. I went with a decaf, oat milk and a little flavor to kick it off, it was really the perfect pick-me-up for an afternoon on the go. As a super fan of the Cultivate brand, I'll definitely be returning for the full experience!

Yelp
Very cute vibe. Food is decent. Plenty of seats. Would recommend. This place gets a little loud, so this isn't the place for focus working. More like casual working with a group.

Yelp
Our first time coming here! They opened 3 weeks ago, and they will have their grand opening this Saturday. Pros: clean restaurant and we were seated immediately. Food and drinks came out fast! Food was excellent quality and had good portions. Cons: latte was a little weak per this coffee connoisseur. It definitely could use an extra shot of espresso. Overall, this is a great addition to The Battery! We have been missing a good brunch place and they have come through! Definitely check this place out.

Clara K.

Yelp
Cute place with loads of potential. However, the service was terrible. Party of 2. Waited 30 minutes for a latte and a coffee while tables around us received theirs immediately. The kicker that made us leave- we ordered mimosas and were told we couldn't because of the time on a Sunday. Within 10 minutes, another table sat down and were served mimosas.

Christina H.

Yelp
Upon receiving our appetizer, had to ask for plates and silverware. Although we were a part of three, were surcharged as a party of six or more and when questioned was told that's how they do it. Was charged 20% tip and then only shared the screen to add additional tip on top of the 20%. When questioned why the additional tip screen was removed.

Yelp
Food great.... Salmon hash Croissant w bacon and egg Drink great... Chocolate frappe w whip Staff... On point with orders Price... Very reasonable for what we ordered The only negative is it's a slow wait for your to-go order. Being at the Batterty, management may need to beef up staff.

Yelp
Our first time at the Battery location was nothing special. They have a game day menu where all the items are $15. 8 wings were listed on the menu. Our server offered us their "special" - wings, fries and beer for the $15. What they fail to mention is it's only 5 wings, not 8. Check out the picture of one of the 5 wings. The wings were subpar. Goldbergs are ten times better. Server was great. No bathrooms, says out of order but watched two of their kitchen staff go into them. Just not impressed with what could have been a great addition to the battery
google avatar

Liz K.

Yelp
We sat at the bar with Don P and he was a great bartender. Food, mimosas and blackberry basil mule were all great

Taylor P.

Yelp
I recently visited the cultivate in the battery and will not return. I ordered the vegan hash brown bowl. I typically don't send food back and eat what I can but I should've gone with my initial instinct and sent it back based on the look alone. The avocado that came with it was majority brown so I put that aside and the sliced tomatoes looked questionable too so I didn't eat those either. The only thing that I actually ate were the potatoes (because that's the only thing that looked edible) and my stomach has been aching/in pain since Sunday. Our server was great, however due to the pain I'm in now, I will never return. For future reference, please make sure the kitchen staff is cooking sanitarily.

Ms O.

Yelp
Food is good,service.... Not so much. The couple of time I went, they seemed short staffed. Will go back because it's closer than Howell mill and I do like the food.

Ernie W.

Yelp
Eggs were cold, grits were scolding hot. Biscuit was burnt black too. Coffee was hot at least, but tasted really bitter. . It is also the first restaurant i have been to in 45 years of living in Georgia that does not have iced tea. The water was cold at least, but served in small glass and no refills. All 4 of us got different orders, and different specialty drinks, and each entree had one or more fatal flaw that was just due to a lack of care. It also took 20 mins to get the check Ambiance was great and it was neat and clean. Maybe staff was just having a bad day.

Lori T.

Yelp
So good! The menu has so many options for all of our dietary restrictions. The vegan hash was so good it could have fooled us! Our server was absolutely lovely as well!

Lance G.

Yelp
Smooth and friendly vibe with professional and personable staff Definitely a spot I'd come back to for coffee and a drink or later in the evening

Alison B.

Yelp
The workers are great. The vibes were good because the olympics were on the tvs. The drinks are also refreshing as they have a lot of flavored tea/refresher options. I got a sriracha bacon egg and cheese on a croissant. The croissant was a bit dry but the rest of the sandwich was great. The sriracha bacon is more sweet than it is spicy, kind of a maple flavor. The waffle was great but came out cold. My friend made her own bowl which was a great portion size. Everything lacked flavor but it was a decent meal.

Emma G.

Yelp
Great vegan brunch options! Good place to bring a group if there's different types of diets. Service is a little laid back and slow but food is always good.
google avatar

Brian T.

Yelp
Our service was very meh, nothing was seasoned well, some food we ordered was not delivered, and it was all overpriced -- that part I was anticipating though. It's too bad because Cultivate had the potential to be something special because of it's prime location and warm atmosphere, but instead it fell pretty flat. As a Cobb County resident and a lifelong Braves fan, I can confidently say there are much better food options within a baseball's throw of here in the Battery.

Jake L.

Yelp
The service was amazing. I had a great beer and a great time while sitting at the bar. The calamari was terrible. It's Atlanta but still... it was overcooked and I couldn't even chew through it. Not a pleasant experience.
