We’ve dined here several times for dinner and stopped n after a performance next door for cocktails and desserts. I dig the throwback feel of the classic high end hotel anchored restaurant. The service has been consistently solid, and I’ve been pleasantly surprised w several offerings such as the authentic housemade Caesar salad, the large size of the shrimp cooked just right and the artistic desserts. I even tried a mocktail our server recommended as I sometimes do and was not disappointed, although they could perhaps add a few more original offerings in this avenue to mix it up some more. Oh yes, forgot to mention the humus plate was a really nice starter, so fresh! Enjoy.

Google
We were really looking forward to this experience but ended up so disappointed. The service was top notch and exactly what one would expect from a fine dining establishment and the drinks were well- crafted. Dinner was mediocre; the Kobe burger was good but not great. I found the Pan-seared scallops to slightly undercooked and served on a very thin layer of watery mashed potatoes; highly over-priced at nearly $50 for four scallops and no edible sides. The highlight of the night was dessert - the bread pudding was phenomenal and worthy of 5 stars! Unfortunately, the atmosphere was the absolute worst. Maybe it's a design flaw but the bar was packed with hotel happy hour guests and it is located at the heart of the dining area. The happy hour guests were clearly having a great time (as one should at happy hour) but the overly loud, drunken conversing at the bar overwhelmed the dining area to the extent that it was difficult to communicate at your own table at times. We were looking for the complete fine dining experience and this was not it; perhaps more of a nice restaurant with a casual, loud, and lively atmosphere, but definitely not fine dining. We may be back after a show for that bread pudding though!

Google
This was our first visit & hopefully not our last. We sat at the bar because we had no reservation before the ballet for two drinks, appetizer, & entree salad split for two. The food & drinks were lovely. The small details of how the drinks were prepared with beautiful tools & glassware, the square ice cube with LH imprinted, how the strawberry & basil adorned my mocktail…beautiful touches. My only feedback for opportunity is to add a touch of warmth when being seated & initial order taken. Both bartenders were cold & indifferent at the start & only after noting what we appreciate did the female bartender warm up with engaged tone of voice & smile. Had the coldness remained with her, our main server, a tip less than we are used to gifting would have occurred. She turned it around & thus we could be gratuitous. However, the male server stayed cold, removed, absolutely silent, & indifferent, almost apathetic. High end does not mean cold. We are paying to eat out & be served, to be treated as guests & warmly hosted. It could have been an exception, but this was our initial experience & trust you want to k ow so it can be addressed, thank you. Until our next show!

Google
It is a fantastic place for a good meal. We tried it out before a play across the street. The service here is very quick, from the drinks to the entries, desserts to the bill.. They are pretty fast. The steak was perfectly cooked, and everything looked great. She had the ceaser, which was an authentic style with anchovies... I thought it was good. The drinks were all solid as well. It's just a well run restaurant from top to bottom.

Google
One of the rudest servers i’ve ever seen. I’ve been a server myself, since 2019. I couldn’t imagine treating a table the way she treated us. Roxanne (i think was her name) greeted both me and my friend with such animosity and disdain the second she came to the table. I asked if there was anything I could add onto my steak, like garlic butter or something of the sort?? Not an insane question. She looked at me like I had asked her the dumbest question she’d ever heard. She also never brought out my friends drink, we had to find a new server shortly after because she refused to come back. Had another server step in for her. Then at the end, Roxanne came back and gave us our check and left. We felt extremely unwelcome dining there, and the food didn’t even make up for the service.

Google
My friend and I shared and loved the lamb chops and garlic mashed potatoes. Plenty for the two of us. Of course we had to try the lemon dessert. Oh my goodness! Wonderful service and a lovely evening for dining on the patio. I will be back.

Google
What a fabulous restaurant! We chose to sit outside as the weather was like a dream come true. The outdoor seating area is covered overhead and protected by ornate fencing. The lamb chops were cooked to near perfection and the lemon tart was delicious. They offer a wide variety of unique and tasty cocktails. In spite of the full house, service was extremely good. Our waiter was very attentive and helpful. The atmosphere was fun and relaxing. This was a great dining experience.

Google
For over thirty years we have enjoyed this hotel, From Kevin at the front desk, to Sam’s greeting at the door, and the stability and professionalism of Allen and his most cable second , Mark, Together they always make us feel very special Having watched first hand the painful transition the hospitality industry has undergone, through quality in the labor force to sourcing issues and higher prices and inflation it is so appreciated the commitment to excellence that the Lancaster has shown. We have just returned from celebrating our 42 second wedding anniversary and we look forward to many more celebrations at this fine establishment. Thanks again, the Browns- David and Gaytha

Yelp
Great place to have a dinner before or after the show. They are open late. The braised ribs are phenomenal. Would get it any time.

Yelp
I came here on two occasions. The first visit was just for drinks. The second visit was for breakfast. The drinks and food were fine. It's definitely pricy for what you're getting. Saturday nights seem to be very lively here. I would come back to try their dinner menu. The service is great. They're very helpful and attentive. The seating area is nice. It's cozy, with sunlight shining in from the glass windows. There's also a bar area that seats about 10 people.

Yelp
We had lovely pre theater dinner and drinks. Fred took great care of us. I enjoyed the beet salad and hubs had the short ribs with mushroom risotto. Both were excellent. His was absolutely mouth watering. The bar was a bit slow, but the place was packed. We will definitely be returning!

Yelp
I have visited Cultivated about a half dozen times now, mostly for dinner and a couple times for brunch/ breakfast. We have always made a reservation because it is such a popular restaurant. Many folks enjoy a meal there before walking over to Jones Hall or the Alley Theatre, and the hotel it is located in (The Lancaster) permits valet if you are doing dinner and a show. The valet has always been very professional, the sort of folks you want to tip. There is also some street parking or the Lyric garage nearby, but we usually valet. Cultivated is on the smaller side and to the left immediately after entering the Lancaster hotel. You will see the bar connected to it as well. We like the classic decor and appreciate that they are not trying to be trendy. The staff have always been courteous and professional while remaining laid back. Sometimes the food can take a bit, but it is clearly made fresh and with high-quality ingredients. We have never had an absurd wait time. They are also willing to modify dishes if someone in your party has food sensitivities. Nothing major, so you will not find gluten-free bread or vegan cheese. Cultivated does, however, have alternative milks for coffee and fresh, locally-sourced sorbets that are excellent. We have tried most of the items on the menu and have never been disappointed. Also, hotel guests have a separate dining area on a different floor, which helps minimize crowding. It is a smaller restaurant, so expect to be cozy. It reminds me of restaurants on the US east coast. Lastly, the restrooms are a Dream! They are located in the hotel lobby and are gorgeous. The hotel staff will assist you if you have trouble locating them, and they have always been very pleasant in general. In summary, I recommend making a reservation, dressing at least business casual, valeting, allotting a reasonable amount of time to receive your meal and not expecting gimmicks or trends. Just solid New American food in an intimate atmosphere. If you want a raucous, roaring-good time with everyone Instagramming their hearts out, Cultivated is not the place. It is chill and we like it that way : )

Yelp
We were a party of six and ordered different salads, sandwiches, and burgers. Albeit the restaurant was very busy during lunch hours and the service was slower, we all enjoyed our food. Strongly recommend the chicken curry sandwich with sweet potato fries! The restaurant has a very cute outdoor seating area and great natural lighting inside. My only complaint would be how loud it gets during lunch time and the mandatory 20% additional charge for a party of 6+.

Yelp
It was ok... nothing special. Super expensive for what you get. Really small place. Service was good and food was ok. Overall good experience.

Yelp
I want to start by saying this hotel is beautiful and I loved our Penthouse suite! It was my Birthday so it was a celebration. We went to the Circus du Soleil and decided to come back and have dinner. Our waiter never told us his name, rushed us to order because it was almost 10:30pm when he took almost 10-12mins to come take our drink order then when I tried to order an appetizer he completely turned to the next table and ignored me. Then when he came back I said "we want to start off with" he said no I'm taking the whole order at once because the kitchen is closing. Then around 10:45pm 2 older couples walk in and he knows them and tells them sit down take their time. I was bothered but continued to be nice. My fiancé asked for his food to go and dessert menu. When he came back k he proceeded to stack the plates and I simply said "Sir he wants that to go." He replied with "I understand what he said I speak English" I was baffled but still continued to be respectful. Our experience was compromised to say the least and I was disappointed in this man behavior and how he treated us. Towards the end he started to be nicer only because he seen our key on the table. His behavior was unacceptable and unprofessional. We still left 20% even after being treated less than.

Yelp
I visited twice during my stay at the Lancaster because of a $100 experience credit through Capital One Venture. The first night I got a couple cocktails, a Cucumber Collins and a Basil Gimlet. The drinks were okay. Not very well balanced. The bartender was very friendly. The next morning I came to get some breakfast and use the rest of my credit, so I got the avocado toast ($20) and the eggs Benedict ($22). Both were just alright. Again, staff is friendly and it's conveniently located in the hotel but if you're staying just stick with the free breakfast on the Mezzanine level.

Yelp
Brunch was simple yet (very) satisfying! I'll be honest, I made a reservation and came solely for the Texas waffle. The hubs thumbed his nose at the thought of a "hotel brunch" with so many other options in the city, but he humored me and we were both pleasantly surprised. The service was fantastic and that Texas waffle I was dying to take a photo of was so tasty (Sidebar: I love it when waffles and pancakes have a great flavor and don't need to rely on the syrup to be the hero), and the hubs' American breakfast was yummy also. The assortment of various breakfast potatoes was unexpected and a nice added touch! The coffee was just ok, but other than that, Cultivated F+B was truly a solid brunch option for us!

Yelp
One of our favorite places to dine after the theater. we have spent many special occasions here and have so many happy nemories here. December 2, note we made reservations months earlier, we checked in and were seated next to another couple the restaurant was empty at that point. we mentioned to the man seating us that the restaurant held special memories he made a sarcastic remark. Ok we get it -he by 5 pm was done with restaurant guests . 20-25 minutes later our waiter shows up still chewing his food from his break. Such a lovely tradition for so many families, the staff has become extremely complacent toward the guest. We were there at the beginning of December. I cannot imagine with the attitude was by the end of the Nutcracker.!! Beautiful setting great location, the bacon and big appetizer fabulous I think it would be wise to prepare yourself for the attitude of the staff. The restaurant is small, cozy, and intimate much like a New York restaurant be prepared to be in close with other guest. As I said, we've been going here for 32 years we had one of our wedding events at this hotel. It holds a special place in our heart. We will continue to return, but I will remember to be prepared for the attitude of the staff.

Yelp
We decided to try this place out because we were guests at the Lancaster Hotel. The food was really good. I had the lamb chops which was perfectly cooked and seasoned. My wife had shrimp scampi and really enjoyed it so I assumed it was good. No complaints from her. We went on a Thursday evening so it was not busy at all so it felt quiet and intimate.

Lin K.

Yelp
We recently dined at the Cultivated F+B restaurant in Houston which is conveniently located across the street from the Alley Theatre. It's a lovely, refined restaurant with excellent food choices and presentations. The maitre d, Mark, and our waitress, Roxanna, were professional and personable, and added to the enjoyment of the evening.

Kleo G.

Yelp
We've been back to Cultivated a several times since last review in 2022. The crabcakes & calimari are still superb but one very positive change is a young woman named Happiness. We had an unexpected houseguest arrive the evening before we were scheduled to dine at Cultivate. We could not change our reservations for 2 to include her as the restaurant was fully booked. That is until Happiness got involved; she texted and told me to come on in - - she managed to squeeze in an extra table just for us. Now that's service (and with a beautiful smile)!

Yelp
Located conveniently close to many entertainment venues in downtown Houston. Classic atmosphere and service that merits the many accolades this Bistro receives. Late night scene and definitely a hot spot for after the show cocktails.

Yelp
Last minute brunch. Reservations are a must here. Valet are quick and courteous. Joell our server was professional and attentive. Ordered the eggs Benedict , salmon and their waffle. I recommend all three.

Will W.

Yelp
Great classy dining experience with matching bar Make reservations because we aren't the only ones that love it. Service was the best and right Fine table setting with style. Want an impressive celebration place to take someone, this is it Close to all the theaters and opera downtown

Yelp
Ever since the beginning of Covid, when dining I had always felt like something was missing. Everything seemed rushed, good quality was slightly off, the attention to detail was missing, BUT tonight that wasn't the case. Everything was EXCELLENT! The entire experience was fantastic from start to finish. The appetizer was fantastic, bacon wrapped figs stuffed with blue cheese. Soup (five onion soup) and salad (beet salad) were fantastic. Our entrees were delicious as well , crab cake and salmon. The service was in point. Highly recommend!

Yelp
Celebrating our 48th anniversary at a long recognized but never experienced boutique venue. The food was excellent, with the chicken breast gaining particular approval. Nice to get a burger also. Wine listings were very reasonable with appropriate, indeed extensive, choices. Due to the coziness of the small restaurant, tables were close together, but in not too intrusive. So happy to have a pre-show dining adventure clearly in demand and one we had our eye on for years.
google avatar

Yelp
Great and delicious food, service, and atmosphere! Ordered the deviled eggs and calamari for appetizers. I ordered the Braised Boneless Short Ribs served on mushroom risotto and it was SOOO tender and delicious definitely recommend for a nice dinner.
google avatar

Melissa R.

Yelp
Service was amazing... atmosphere was great... and the food was amazing! Definitely coming back for a special date night!

Greg M.

Yelp
3 stars only due to uncaring waiter. Don't know his name but the receipt says Bob. Took our drink order in a timely fashion. After my wife received her Onion soup, we had to ask for bread. Not really his fault, they have a dedicated person taking care of that. Onion soup is very good. After our entree's arrived he never ask if everything thing was to our satisfaction. After I finished my martini he took the glass but didn't ask if I wanted another. Lost some revenue there. Caesar salad is made from iceberg lettuce for some reason. Crispy pan fried salmon was pretty good, needed additional vegetables. Quite frankly the service is better across the street at Birraporetti's. Leave plenty of time if you are going to an event. We had 6 o'clock reservations and got to our show at 7:15.

Brad L.

Yelp
Horrible service, stale bread and OMG attitude! Will not be coming back Arugula Salad
google avatar

Paige C.

Yelp
I've always seen this place when passing through downtown. I've been curious about it and wanted to go. I went before a ballet performance and was pleased! We sat at the bar as all tables were booked, but it was perfect. David made us excellent martinis and we ordered the shrimp cocktail and calamari. Will be back for the drinks, food, ambiance and location!

Yelp
This tea service will be memorable in the worst way. Sad it had to be on Mother's Day. Firstly, we waited 15min to be seated when there were only 5 tables for the 2:30p session tea service. We were seated, then my mom and her friend were immediately told by a tired/disgruntled waitress to move up bc there would be a group behind them. Glancing back at the 3 other empty tables, I asked if we needed to move. She told me no and reiterated for them to move. When we started getting comfortable, we noticed 3 out of the 4 tea strainers were dirty with old tea leaves. So that was super. Took 45min to get a bottle of champagne that the waiter spilled on my mom's side of the table while pouring. He didn't offer to clean it up and we were seated without napkins. So we asked for napkins so we could clean up his mess. About 1.5hrs later, we were served the sandwiches, scones, desserts etc. obviously pre-made (which is fine, but doesn't explain why service was so slow). The food was really good and what gave this review 2 stars instead of 1. Overall pretty terrible experience for the price. It was $69pp + 20% gratuity. Thankfully the valet was validated.

F R.

Yelp
Beware of ordering Eggs Benedict at the cost of $22. I will NOT do it again. The classic American breakfast at the same price looked like a better deal. At least the scrambled eggs were warm whereas my eggs were not. Even the sauce was cold.......hollandaise sauce for a restaurant of this caliber should be distinctive but it was NOT this morning. Sadly, it was tasteless, looked to have been made in advance and tasted plastic......There was a perfect dollop on each egg which immediately made me suspicious. I had salmon with my eggs and the salmon saved the dish for me. I never order eggs Benedict in a busy restaurant for obvious reasons but the crowd this morning at 9:00 was small enough that attention should have been given to the preparation and presentation. No complaints about the service but what was delivered fell short.....way short.

TV R.

Yelp
We stayed at Lancaster Hotel, dined at CF+B and attended a concert across the street in Jones Hall. We had very delightful evening albeit a bit early. We had to dine at 4:30 pm because the place was booked up for prime time dining. We ordered calamari and ahi tuna tartare for appetizer. Although my calamari was unremarkable but not chewy, my wife's ahi tuna was outstanding in presentation and taste. For main course, shrimp scampi and sea bass on a bed of lentils. My wife's sea bass was ok but my shrimp scampi was perfect. We washed all that food down with a bottle of Malbec. Finally, the house treated us to a bread pudding for desert since we were celebrating our 50th anniversary. Although we had been on no carb diet for eighteen months, we broke all the rules for this occasion. Surprisingly, the whole experience reasonably priced and I would consider going back there again.
google avatar

Ilana Z.

Yelp
Came here for a lunch meeting with reservations. We were seated promptly but the service was quite slow. We waited about 10-15 minutes to get our order in and then it took about 45 minutes for the food to come out after placing the order. Although Cultivated F&B has a nice ambiance and is good for a working lunch meeting, the food is nothing special. The salmon was fine and nothing out of this world. Would have given more stars had the service been better.

Evan A.

Yelp
Delicious food, excellent (also expensive) cocktails, and classy environment. Would go back again.
google avatar

Jackie C.

Yelp
A solid place for dinner on theater night. The restaurant is very small so need a reservation. It's close to all the theaters and has great service, food, and drinks. I've also come here for a nightcap after the ballet or opera, and sat in their beautiful newly-renovated lobby with a delicious lemon drop martini.
google avatar

James W.

Yelp
It was recommended by a friend of mine to try out for dinner before a show at Jones Hall. Great food and ambiance. Small intimate spot. We couldn't get a reservation the night of. It was suggested to show up and give the bar a try. We had to wait 15 minutes for 2 seats to open up. The Hostesses directed us to a little side area where we could order appetizers while we waited. They also looked out for open seats for us, and came and ushered us to them. I recommend making a reservation way in advance. If no reservation arrive about an hour & 1/2 to 2 hours early to take under consideration for wait time.

E M.

Yelp
I have patronized this restaurant only a few times before the symphony or theatre, but Sunday, July 25th will be my last. We had reservations for brunch and were promptly seated. There were 6 tables of customers including us, so not too crowded. A table of 3 beside us, who were quietly speaking. Of the other tables, 2 of the tables were obnoxiously loud. One table had a person that occasionally let out a yelp and tongue twirling scream, in addition to the very loud talking. This was their behavior the entire time they were seated. At another table, a man was so loud and boisterous adding to the circus. However, the worst was when a woman across the aisle removed her top teeth as her food was placed before her. The service was good, as was our food, but the atmosphere left much to be desired. I realize management can't control behavior of poor manners, but I do think they should have asked the woman with yelps and tongue twirling sounds to quiet a bit. I remarked to our server how I felt when she brought the bill, and she replied this is the "summer crowd" and the dinner environment is much nicer. This is a lovely and small restaurant, and all customers deserve to have a nice time of a good meal and conversation.
google avatar

Denise W.

Yelp
This place has low ceiling and a bit run down. So I came here and ordered the Kobe beef bacon burger. The burger was a bit dry. I did have it fully cooked but I have been to places where it was fully cooked and the burger was still juicy. Service is ok here. Well we sat at the bar. But the décor is a bit ghetto. I mean no up keep. Also lots of older people eat here.

Tina S.

Yelp
So disappointed that our hostess and our server never smiled or seemed welcoming at all.  Our server was uninterested in us being there and seemed bored and even bothered that we were there! With the amount of restaurants from which to choose, I am not interested in visiting Cultivated F&B, unless everyone cultivates a different attitude.
google avatar

Mike T.

Yelp
One of my favorite go to places to eat in downtown Houston, great staff and food, at the bottom of the Lancaster Hotel on a TEXAS Street near the chase Tower. Great for brunch especially. The salads are perfect.

Dennis C.

Yelp
Excellent food, great service! Had the short ribs w/risotto. Wonderful! The pecan Old Fashion cocktail is a must have.
google avatar

Joel G.

Yelp
I debated about the rating. First I think the remodel of the hotel and restaurant is beautiful. The dining room is light and airy with large windows that didn't exist before the flood. The valet charge is $18 and is not complimentary even with dinner. The menu is much like the old menu with no specials. We went before theater which is a reason that the pre theater crowd is there, convenience. My wife's cocktail was weak, mine was fine. The crab cakes are a highlight but are not pure lump meat, there is substantial filler. We will probably return but understand that with cocktail, soup, entree and a $30 half bottle of wine you will spend about $100 per person with valet and tip.
google avatar

Nicole S.

Yelp
Love coming here since they reopened after the flood. The food is delicious and the service excellent. It can get a bit full at lunch so we always call ahead and make a reservation.
google avatar

Noora A.

Yelp
We went to dine there after attending a Houston Symphony show next door. It had an awesome outside seating and nice atmosphere. Food was delicious yet portions were small for the high price. Service is a bit slow and food orders take a while but we weren't in a hurry & it was worth the wait. So I recommend it for a date if you are attending a theatre show there, but not if you are really hungry or in a rush.
google avatar

Joseph S.

Yelp
Always the "before concert" spot. Service is always good and makes sure you have enough time for a leisurely stroll to the venue. The menu is small but plentiful. If you are on a budget or not overly hungry, a number of items are "shareable". The calamari appetizer (a winner!) can easily be shared by 2 or 3. The kobe burger or crab cakes make a nice split for 2 (and they serve it already halved).
google avatar

Martha M.

Yelp
We stopped in spontaneously (code for sans reservations) last night after the Dynamo game. Arrived well after the post Symphony crowd was seated but there was room for us at the bar and we were not disappointed. David, the bartender, has returned after the flood renovations and a young man's adventure and he was spot on with service, great drinks and conversation. The drinks, mine a Manhatten and my life partner's Dirty Martini were perfect. I looked somewhat longingly at the Old Fashioned with its big, square ice cube, but went with my preferred drink. As I was not very hungry, I noshed on the bacon wrapped figs stuffed with bleu cheese. My partner had the Kobe burger which was like melted joy ( of course, we shared). We will be back. A great spot. And so happy the doors have reopened.

Paulina M.

Yelp
A lot of fly's and bee's. Too much pepper to the buttered pasta. Really good pizza though
google avatar

Jackie K.

Yelp
A really blah (yet expensive) lunch at Bistro Lancaster. We arrived early when no one was in the restaurant yet for lunch, but we had to wait for a while to be seated because the host was too busy on the phone. For the rest of the lunch, service was OK, if not a bit awkward. As far as the food goes, it was OK. I had a spinach salad with grilled shrimp (the shrimp was actually pretty tasty), but they weren't too generous with the other toppings on the salad--kind of boring. And for such a simple salad, it was pricey at $19+tax+tip.
google avatar

Paula L.

Yelp
Went today for lunch with my friends food was amazing!! The crabcakes are delightful overpriced but the service and the food is worth. Shouts out to or server Jessica, thanks for our cappuccinos we are definitely coming back!!
google avatar

H B.

Yelp
My husband and I joined the theater crowd and had a beautiful dinner here one night. We were both pleasantly surprised by the cozy ambiance, amazing service and delicious fare. The cheese plate was simple but one of the best we've ever enjoyed. Hubby had the ribeye which was superb and I had the luscious crab cakes. We finished with chocolate cake and lemon raspberry dessert which were both good/average. Most notable was the royalty service from our server, Oscar, and the rest of the staff who came by our table. Even the valet guys were polished. Thank you for a nice downtown Houston evening.
google avatar

Murray K.

Yelp
I made a reservation for a Thursday night on Open Table and followed up with a phone call to confirm. Upon arrival the hostess told me that the table was not ready "because they were expecting more turnover." Isn't the point of the reservation that you don't have to wait for more turnover. We have been here before and the food is ok. But this level of bad service is a deal breaker. We won't be back.
google avatar

Charles S.

Yelp
Visited this restaurant several times after attending the opera or symphony. We had no issues with the food or the service. The scallops were delicious. The wine list is a little small but not terrible.

Yelp
I wouldn't go out of my way to get here at all . I just left actually without even eating once seated because customer service was nonexistent from the tall white gentleman with glasses, grey hair and a small curl ponytail seating people .... I live right around the corner so it wasn't a waste of my time but I wouldn't return. He looked less than thrilled to seat people and didn't even greet us .

Yelp
The only good place to eat in theatre district. Kind of expensive for what you get. Very classic food. Onion soup rich. Lots of black pepper kick. Shrimp scampi. 6 extra large shrimp. Ample quantity of angel hair. Not much garlic, lemony. Lots of red pepper. Crab cakes two medium sized but extra thick. Mustard mayo filling. Not much bread. Lots of crab meat. Mostly claw meat. Shoestring potatoes. Frisée with sweat hot Chile oil. Another kick of heat. Best part was bread pudding dessert. Three thick slices, more like French toast. Brandies cherries make it worth while. Agreed Service VERY SLOW. Allow lots of time. Getting check can be frustrating. Remodel of hotel beautiful. Lots of marble. Too many managers, not enough workers in my humble opinion. Beats parking in under ground garage.

Yelp
Tucked inside one of Houston's older boutique hotels, the Bistro Lancaster has a certain charm to it. The staff was professional and attentive....my water glass was NEVER empty and I received everything I asked for fairly quickly. FIVE STARS for service! The food was okay. I had the scallops and I received five large scallops on my plate. However, they were not very well seasoned and, if I were blind folded, I would not have been able to guess I was eating scallops. Everything else seemed to be a little too salty for my taste. Also, they only sold Santa Margharita by the bottle. Dislike! ONE STAR DEMOTION ON TASTE. The prices here are pretty up there. For the price of the meal I want to eat something outstanding and unique...something that makes me crave the food there in the middle of the night. My scallop dinner was about $32 and, to be honest, I have had better scallops at cheaper places. ONE STAR DEMOTION. Because this restaurant is in a hotel, there is no "free" parking or complimentary valet. $15 if you want valet, otherwise you have to troll around the streets of downtown trying to find free meter parking (which is hard to come by in that popular area of downtown). ONE STAR DEMOTION. Overall, not one of my favorite places in Houston. I would rather have spent the money elsewhere. This review is based solely on my personal experience and reflect my personal opinions. Your experience may be completely different.

Yelp
The food for our table of 4 was ok. Service was poor, e.g. difficulty keeping water in glasses, providing hot (not cooling) coffee. The noise level at lunch was such that we could not converse across our table. I will not return.
