"Chicago’s first Culver’s is set to open on Tuesday in Bronzeville at 3357 S. King Drive. The fast-food chain, which peddles burgers served on buttered buns, already has restaurants in the suburbs and for the last few years has been flirting with Chicago locations in Bronzeville, Wrigleyville, and Portage Park. The chain’s co-founder, Craig Culver, will greet the public starting at 10 a.m. on Tuesday when Culver’s first opens its doors to the public. The 4,300-square-foot restaurant is located at Lake Meadows Market near King Drive and 33rd Place." - Ashok Selvam

Who doesn't love culvers? Custard, burgers, crinkle fries, it's so good. Location has plenty of parking, inside is super clean and customer service is top notch. I'm already looking forward to my next visit.

Stopped by on a Saturday afternoon. Service was quick, food was delicious, atmosphere was lively, and there was plenty of parking. Dining area was also pretty clean. (With the exception of the floor being sticky around the soda fountain) Overall good experience, well worth the visit.

Normally this place is fine, but tonight an issue: It's 915pm. The restrooms - which I badly n Ed are being cleaned. Fair enough. I ask if they will open soon when they are clean. Both people behind the counter give me bewildered looks then say "Yes". My reply is "good because I need the restroom and if it won't reopen, I'll go next door instead." He confirms they'll reopen and takes my order. I go to sit down. Nope. The dining room isn't just being cleaned - it's closed. Got my order and the restrooms are still closed - and I doubt they'll reopen tonight. So now to go eat outside in the cold because I don't want to get my car smelly. I don't get why 2 counter people couldn't have just said "No, sorry, restrooms are closed for the evening and it's take out only". I'd understand that. But not them not knowing :( So after I eat, it's off to Taco Bell to buy another drink so I can hopefully use their restroom!

Google
Very nice bunch of employees! They had a big rush of Uber's, or something, but they were patient and professional on dealing with the stress. It looked like they were able to take care of all their customers!

I ordered online and thought the process was painless. When the server brought out my food the drinks were missing. As he went back in to retrieve them I thought I should check the rest of the order. I received twice on one item and three items were missing all together. I went into the store taking my bag with me. While I was told the items were out in, they clearly were not. I had to wait for them to cook the onion rings. Unfortunately I didn’t look into the bag before I left. When I got home there was still an item missing. The whole process took almost an hour and the food was cold by the time I got it home. The overall experience was dismal. I felt there was no concern for customer satisfaction or getting things right.

Culver's burgers offer a refreshing take on fast food, with a focus on quality ingredients and flavor. Their signature ButterBurger, made from fresh, never frozen Midwest beef, is the star of the menu. The patties are juicy and perfectly seasoned, served on a lightly buttered, toasted bun that adds a nice crunch and richness to each bite. What sets Culver’s apart is the attention to detail in both the cooking process and ingredient selection. The cheese is always melted to perfection, and the optional toppings like fresh lettuce, tomato, and onion are crisp and full of flavor. In addition to taste, Culver's provides excellent value. The burgers come in various sizes, ensuring that whether you're after a small snack or a full meal, there's an option for you. The customization options also allow you to tailor your burger exactly to your liking. Their crinkle-cut fries make a great accompaniment, and if you’re feeling indulgent, pairing the burger with one of their famous frozen custard shakes makes for a satisfying meal. Overall, Culver's delivers a consistently delicious burger experience that rivals many fast-casual competitors, making it a great choice for both quick meals and more leisurely dining.

Google
Was in the area and stopped by to grab a bite to eat with my daughter. The food was served fresh and the staff were SO nice. They were checking on us and made sure I knew my daughter can get a free scoop of Icecream after her meal, and the rewards I can get after every meal.

Never had a bad experience in a culvers before. I find Culvers generally has the best service. However this visit was an exception, food was average mid tier and the lady upfront messed up my order after waiting 25 minutes for the food.

Yelp
Located in a dynamic area of the Lake Meadow Shopping Center, Culver's is a newish addition to the dining options in this area. White Castle used to the be draw but since it's opening, more people seem to go here for their burger fix. Entering the parking lot is tricky as there is always traffic for Culver's as well as the nearby grocery store and shops. I was able to snag a decent parking spot without having to circle around. This location as well as others offers a military discount with appropriate identification. The line to order was a bit confusing but I asked those waiting if everyone had been helped. Waited a few minutes and then it was my turn to order. Some guy claimed I jumped him in line and he proceeded to rant while I placed my order. Sir, we not doing back and forth in 2025! The cashier was nice and made sure to repeat my order back to ensure he got it right. When you opt to dine in, they'll give you a number tent while you go search for a clean table away from anyone acting bizarre. This took a few minutes and I had to use my stash of Lysol wipes to clean the table off for my mom and I. You'd think if an employee saw a customer doing this, they'd come over to assist but that was wishful thinking. From ordering to receiving our food, we sat for about 10 minutes. Tried to kill time by preparing our drinks and getting napkins and staging for the food's arrival. In the interim, people watching didn't disappoint. The food was hot when it did arrive so that's a plus. It had been a while since I'd eaten Culver's but it hit the spot. Of note, if you are anti ketchup such as myself and opt for bbq sauce for dipping your fries, there is a $0.50 fee for a cup of bbq sauce. The price point is slightly inflated for the portion size. Cleanliness could have been better, and they seemed to be short-staffed when I dined there. There is a competing line of food delivery drivers who come in and just grab orders while customers are in abundance. Not a terrible visit but if the choice had been mine, it would have been somewhere else. An overall three star review with room for improvement. It was too cold this particular day for a milkshake but I can get behind their milkshakes as it'd give Wendy's a run for their money. Family friendly with options to dine in, take away and has a drive thru. Capable of accepting cash, credit and contactless pay methods. If in the mood, I'd dine here again.

Joe F.

Yelp
Order a Cheeseburger and a Chili and was disappointed. The burger was cold and the chili was barely warm. I thought they were making everything as you order. Wrong.

NicteHa D.

Yelp
Came here after our visits to the Field Museum and I don't know what people are talking about, I found the service to be great! Everyone was super friendly. Ladies BR was clean but stunk really bad, that could just be the sewer system though. I'd come back if I was in the area again.

Pedro S.

Yelp
First time at Culver's. Staff was super nice and helpful. Really liked the food too! Got the double butter burger and some tenders. Ambiance is also pretty nice.

Naiima D.

Yelp
Great customer service Kayla!!!!! She was working the drive thru, today 6/18/24. She made sure she repeated our order for accuracy. She has a great disposition!!! Excellent! Served us with a smile! Give Kayla a raise!!!

Len L.

Yelp
Don't let the exterior atmosphere spoil the food and service you get inside. I ignored the armed security guard outside protecting us and ordered to dine-in as I saw that the tables and floors were fairly clean. Service was great as I got my food fairly quick and all intact. Great food as always and will come back here again.

Paul T.

Yelp
For a fast food cheeseburger their cheeseburger is pretty good I can't say the same about the customer service

T. R.

Yelp
The Chicago King drive location has great food and generally good service, but why is it so difficult to get my order right. I love the cod sandwich, but I order it without cheese. I don't want cheese on it. When I get home, I'm peeling off the cheese. Frustrating!

Cheryl C.

Yelp
The ice cream always good never order the food but onion rings delicious service great nice staff seems to be organized only do drive way for food quick service in all types of weather good service

John K.

Yelp
After my last review someone contacted me here and told me to leave my feedback at contactculvers.com. I did so and allegedly someone was supposed to follow up with me but of course never did. It's almost as if they respond to negative reviews so it appears that they care, but not to actually do anything to fix it. Despite this, I made the massive mistake of coming into this shitty fucking restaurant again today. They overcharged me 56 cents. When I pointed it out first I was told that "tomatoes 50 cent". I said I requested only pickle. Then I was told "it's tax". So I showed them all where that was wrong. I say them because by now two more employees had joined the conversation and were of course being rude. The third explanation for overcharging me 56 cents was "they forgot to update the menu". The girl who was actually at the register was polite and apologetic but didn't know how to change it. The other two women - one of whom appeared to be management- were just as fucking rude as I've come to expect in this dump. Part of hopes I've learned my lesson and never step foot in this dump again, but part of me is curious to see how bad the next one experience is! On my way out, I did convince a woman and her daughter to go next-door to Taco Bell instead so that was fun.

Carmine T.

Yelp
Service was great. Burgers forget about it. They are not 3 cuts of meat. Were do you get a hamburger with chunks of I don't know what . I believe someone said they are full of soy. I've been a waitress all my life . And believe me . White castles have better meat. Sorry Culver's you Suck. 25 dollars for crap

Shannon S.

Yelp
Cheese curds to die for and for some reason when you have a hot fudge sundae it just tastes sooooo good and better after every bite!

Lauren W.

Yelp
The food here is nothing like any of the other Chicagoland Culver's locations. Never hot and the burger patties are consistently dry and overcooked. Tried them 3 times to make an accurate call and it was not good any of the times smh.

Carolyn M.

Yelp
Well well, I was in a hurry and didn't check my BAG. (In which I usually do check my bag) The GURL had a nasty attitude which the Manager acted like it was the norm that took my order and SCREWED my whole order up.I ORDERED 2 butter burgers and which I received 1 double burger and fries 2 large concert mixer that I didn't ask for .. and this came up to $22:54 cents. I called numerous times and guess what, I received a busy signal . Talking about GHETTO every one from the Manger to those rude young ppl that work there. Unfortunately I didn't get ANY RESOLUTION with the Manger which looked like she just got out the bed, totally unprofessional. I use to enjoy coming to this location in which I have dealt with FAILURE from here before, but this was definitely the last straw for me . I wouldn't be going to this hood ghetto, unprofessional Culvert's again spending my hard working dollars. They need to tighten up quickly. Smdh !!!

Mari A.

Yelp
The food was delicious. When they finally got my order correct, I was very pleased. Initially my food was not sent. The food that I received wasn't my order. After that terrible experience, my order was perfect. I ave eaten At Culver's in Wisconsin and the food was perfect.

Asia B.

Yelp
I' usually go to the drive thru but the line was long so we went inside. It was very clean and that was reassuring to see! Hope that continues

Tony S.

Yelp
Terrible service in drive thru and inside. Don't go! Not worth the moment on the lips.

Xavier D.

Yelp
One star. I came here with high expectations, since me and my family have been coming to this specific location ever since it came out. I should've lowered my standards. I ordered 1 kid's meal, 3 kid's ice creams, and a couple of ketchup packets. They made us wait 35 minutes just for that. During the 35 minutes, we then proceeded to watch the customers who ordered after us, not to mention they ordered more food than us, get their meals way before us. Once we got our food, we went home only to find out one of the ice creams had hair, there was no ketchup, the burger was all wrong, and the soda was flat. How could you possibly flop so badly?? One star, never going again. Horrible.

Bridget Z.

Yelp
The staff is always argumentative this doesn't happen once this happens all the time. The manager is a joke there she had on like jeans and a shirt no name tag and when we had a problem we asked her what her name was and she refused to give it to us the last incident is the last that we will go there

Fernilla S.

Yelp
Loved this fast food joint. Loved the ambience and blues music playing. The workers were so helpful. The spicy tenders were so good. And the cheese curds with marinara are amazing. Butter burger was also good. And the custard with brownie and salted caramel shake were just phenomenal.

Lord Of T.

Yelp
This place is clean and the security is excellent! It's also very comfortable inside, great artwork, lots of historical pictures, a real pleasure to visit! The people always greet me very nicely and always check in to make sure I'm happy when I'm dining in. The food is pretty standard for a Culver's, nothing out of the ordinary but it's this location that just makes it really nice. That might sound funny but the dining room in this location is absolutely great. The washrooms are clean too!

Rich L.

Yelp
This place has always operated exceptionally well. The customer service is flawless, the place is clean, the workers are always polite, the food is good. I cannot imagine how anyone could give this place less than five stars, I've always had a really good experience here.

Landon K.

Yelp
These burgers melt In my mouth and the fries are amazing and ice cream is amazing to so defiantly come to Culver's in Decatur

Jane D.

Yelp
Yesterday 5/1/24 I went to Culvers on Martin Luther King Drive to avoid cooking for me and my children. When we arrived we were told they were out of "BUNS" I'm like are you kidding you guys might as well be closed. When I worked in the restaurant industry we typically would reach out to borrow inventory from another restaurant (culvers) of course we would replace it. In the event we ran out but was rare. But as a Manager to not even attempt to not to mention the way she handle the other employees. (Teens) when they come to work they should feel like they're apart of a family. I hated the way the Manager talked to them. HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE....WE WAITED 40MIN

Kenta C.

Yelp
Great food always and very friendly staff. Would recommend to everyone else. The pricing is very fair also.

Karina B.

Yelp
It's a great experience. The ambiance is very welcoming. Amazing food and service. Staff are extremely knowledgeable and make great recommendations!!!!

Beatriz B.

Yelp
As others have said. The wait is way too long. Doesn't matter the time of day. You order in the drive through they tell you to park and take upwards of 20-30 minutes. Sometimes longer to bring out your order. Just close the drive through line. It clearly doesn't work. Pictures show line of cars waiting. Ordered at 8:40. Food wasn't brought out until 9:15. Waited 35 minutes. Smh. And even after waiting the order was still wrong. Unacceptable.

Pam B.

Yelp
I ordered a walleye sandwich, fries and a root beer. Service at the counter was friendly and cordial. Food delivery was prompt and efficient ! I love this type of fish !

Murph K.

Yelp
This has to be the longest I have ever waited for a cheeseburger in my life! So unorganized. It's literally been 23 minutes for a burger and fries.

chong n.

Yelp
The double parties with the burger are delicious. It goes perfect with the new coke brands products. The service was slow because the restaurant had a large influx of customers that all came in once. The design of the restaurant is nothing special.

Casey J.

Yelp
Workers at this location are incompetent. I wanted a single butter burger with mayo and ketchup. They made me a double butter burger with mustard. I complained and they remade it and it was still a double butter burger with mustard. They not only messed up my order once but twice and I had to drive back the second time wasting my gas. I was very upset. I requested a refund since I figured they would mess up again the third time and I didn't much time left for my lunch break so I had to leave hungry and angry. I'm never going to this location again. Workers need to be more attentive to taking orders AND remaking them. It's absurd how there are like 10 workers and they keep messing up. It's not that hard to make a burger!

Loop L.

Yelp
I waited 50 minutes for fries!!!!!!!!!! That was the only thing I ordered. I asked three of the ladies bringing out food to check on my order and they all said ok and took about 15 minutes to get back to me. I refuse to go to that location. So many cars were in the lot waiting and I watched 4 other patrons go back in because their orders weren't correct.

Cloe K.

Yelp
I mean the food was good (as usual for Culver's) but either EVERY worker there just got hit with the worst news of their life, or the hiring team made great effort in getting the most rag tag team of depressed kids to run a fast food place. I was more hungry to find out why every single worker hated their life and servicing me than I was for my food. I totally get bad days but MANNNNNNNN.

Kristy S.

Yelp
Wish I could give 0 stars. My party and I all got food poisoning from here after waiting 25+ mins from the drive thru. We think food was undercooked or some horrible sanitation procedure from the food crew. Ice cream was already 50% melted by the time we got it. Absolute trash.

Kay X.

Yelp
Salads, soups, sides, and sundaes oh my!! I don't know what brought me here. I wasn't craving Culver's as I don't really eat it yet seeing it in the area and seeing how much traffic there was, something made me take a u-turn. On this particular evening, I'm glad I did. Wow, this location is enormous on the outside with plenty of parking, lots of different seating options inside, spotless, and has ultra-friendly Associates. I'm always looking to take care of my sweet tooth first, and I definitely did that, but I tried something different. I don't eat beef, but I heard they had delicious fish sandwiches. When they say, everything is made fresh to order, they certainly mean it. I went with the Cod fish sandwich with their crinkle-cut fries. I can't say I recall any flavor being in the batter of the cod but it was flaky and warm enough. They have a daily fresh frozen custard special called the flavor of the day; it also varies location to location. I went with the Oreo and salted caramel mix concrete. Might I mention that there are over 83 freak'in flavors of concretes on their menu! It was so fresh and tasty - it was as if a sweet little old lady was in the back churning the frozen yogurt and preparing the caramel on site. For them to have been so busy, they were so swift and courteous and mindful. I didn't have to ask for extra of anything, and nothing was missing from the order. Culver's is like an upscale Dairy Queen (if there can be such a thing), but it is exceedingly enjoyable. This location is in historic Bronzeville and people are flocking to it in droves; those that live in and out of the area. Their slogan is "Welcome to Delicious." If I could, I would tell Mr. Culver - Thanks for the invite bro!

Mark S.

Yelp
Why do they have people taking my order in front of the building, taking my money in the drive through window, then waiting 37 minutes for my 3 kids meals (just like every other time I come to this raggedy location)?

Colonel M.

Yelp
It's not often I eat fast food... However today I stopped in this Culvers on 34th and King Drive... It is also not often at all that I compliment a fast food ANYTHING... LET ME TELL YOU SOMETHING... #1 Clean staff member even came around with a lil spritz can of "smell good" (never seen that done before anywhere)... #2 Food was the best Culver's I've EVER had (admittedly I've only eaten in a few but nation wide) #3 Staff Very friendly... a lil joking here and there but to me the sign of a happy staff (nothing offensive at all)... #4 AFRICAN AMERICAN OWNED AND OPERATED with all ethnic staff!!! When one of the staff members came around again I asked for a manager... I told her everything I'm saying here... she got the Operations Management Told him the same... People love to tell the bad but never want to tell the good... I WILL GO BACK TO THIS LOCATION !

G R.

Yelp
I took some stars away can I take the last one too, I'd like to. I don't eat burgers often, so when I decide to I like it the way I asked for it, no mayo, well look at that lots of mayo, along with a mess, the burger hanging out glued to the bun that way because of the cheese. The other cheeseburger, same treatment. That other burger without the tomato sticking out I didn't even ask for, what I did ask for was a regular order of cheese curds, not regular cheese burger. Tomato tomato, curd, burger. Whatever, a word of warning, check your order. Me, I'll go back but won't be a regular, and I may stick to the cooler with the prepacked custard off site, at least this way I know it will be right. Really too bad, I like to support local places and we need them here, but I expect better then consistently wrong orders.

Passhon J.

Yelp
I've always enjoyed the service at Culver's, but Culver's in Bronzeville is on another level. The service at this location deserves to set the standard at other Chicago locations. The restaurant is nice and clean inside. I was so excited to take a picture of the the Culver's sign inside. The food of course was good. I enjoyed my one scoop of Oreo vanilla ice cream.

Courtney G.

Yelp
I don't know what system they are doing for when it's busy but there should be no reason I waited 35min for 2 concrete mixers and fries. The girl who asked me about my order swore she made mine already and had to remake it. Tighten up. I like the food but system needs some fixing.

Miranda N.

Yelp
Too slow. Takes 30 mins to get a kid's meal and a salad. Brought the food out WITHOUT the salad. Literally had to wait AGAIN because no dressing.

Asad R.

Yelp
I love this Culver's! The people that work here are always so fast and nice. I get in and out very quickly every time I come here. My favorite is definitely their custard (look out for the flavor of the day) and cheese curds!

Princess E.

Yelp
I live here in Chicago near this Culver's in an apartment complex and my family and I before the pandemic would go and eat here frequently. Since that time, the pandemic caused a lot of issues for people and delivery became the way to go only Culver's does not delivery at this location. I had to go through the drive thru and order my food then park in the lot in the front row and then the young people would bring your order out to you. I will say one thing for them, they never messed up the order but the No Delivery curbside was a problem for me. Hope this helps.

Jamia B.

Yelp
The fact that when you come you are told to park to have to wait almost 20 min with your drink that went to your food is Ridiculous what you gonna do then when they come with your food they have no Condiments at all and a whole attitude this has to stop so I'm full off pop and have nothing to drink with my food

Marc D.

Yelp
Enclosed is a photo of a side of broccoli. Ridiculous portion size. You must check portion size before leaving or you may get upset. If I pay 20 cent I don't mind a small portion size. When I pay money for a product, I expect the product!

Jaclyn W.

Yelp
I absolutely love culvers. Normally when I go there I will get a snack pack, which consists of a butter burger, small fries and a small drink ,and it's usually somewhere around $5.50. Their prices are a little bit higher than other fast food restaurants, but they have delicious food. One thing I really like a lot is their custard. I ordered a BlackBerry cobbler waffle cone, it literally had to be one of the best tasting custards I've ever had. I did not want to stop eating it, just had amazing flavor, that you can't get anywhere else. There flavor of the days are normally worth trying.

Windy H.

Yelp
I am probably the only person here who never try Culver before. That being said. All this rickety over culver opening in Chicago, I was tempted to try their famous frozen custard. I made it here today thinking since its not that cold, I should go and grab some custard for my kids. BIG MISTAKE! I got here around 3.15. The drive thru was BUSY so I finally parked and went inside with my daughter. And instantly there was line. 10 minutes later, it was finally our turn to place the order. Originally we wanted 4 vanilla sundaes with strawberry and raspberry. The cashier was so slow and confused. Although she apologized to me by saying I'm so sorry, it's been a long day. So I kinda understand. In the middle of placing the order, the manager went to the cashiers and told them that they were out of vanilla and only have strawberry and chocolate. I was like, dang it! But quickly said to the cashier, let's roll with strawberry. 3 minutes later (while the cashier typed my order in), another person came to the cashiers and said, no more strawberry. I was like, what the heck?? If I didn't have my daughter with me, I would probably walk out of the restaurant. So I took a deep breath and quickly said to the cashier, just give me 5 freaking chocolate shake with oreo and 3 small fries. Thank God this time she was able to put the order in without any interruption. 15 minutes later, they called my name. They packed the shakes in a brown bag. It was like brown thin bag. Why the heck they didn't provide any drink carrier. Also, they forgot the fries! When i went to tell them, they were like, oops sorry. Bad bad bad experience here. I don't think I will ever go back here.

Katherine M.

Yelp
This is the first Culver's in the city and to my surprise, the outside of the building did not have the signature blue and white colors as many of the others have in Wisconsin and the suburbs of Chicago. Anyway, my boyfriend and I went on a Sunday during lunch, which we expected it to be packed since it just opened. The parking lot and drive-thru was full and wrapped around. Thank goodness for the security guard to direct the flow of traffic! As we entered, there were many people waiting for their take out and in line to order. However, to our surprise, the wait to order was extremely quick. The lady who took our order was extremely kind and knowledge of the menu. She always had a smile! Although ordering was quick, the wait time for our food was about 20 minutes. As I was waiting, I saw many pleasant servers, but there were a few walking around who didn't seem to want to be there. No smile and gave off a negative vibe. Finally, the food came. Since I was starving, I scarfed down the burger, but did notice the bun was harder than normal. The fries were a bit soggy, but the buffalo chicken tenders were good. However, my boyfriend thought they looked smaller than normal. Overall, not a horrible experience, knowing it just opened, but there's still room for improvement on the food and customer service. I'm glad the Chicago can enjoy one of my favorite fast food spots!

Faith C.

Yelp
What can I say??? I live in Bronzeville and thought this was a great addition to the area. Well honestly unless the owners COMPLETELY change the practices going on here it's going to be gone soon! Why are there 45 minute waits for wrong orders and undercooked fries?? WHY? You have one job and that's to make an order the way a customer requests it, but that's too hard for everyone in the building!!! This isn't a one time instance ITS EVERY TIME IVE BEEN! Today is the last day!! Sat in the drive thru for 20 minutes then waited in the lot for my order for 33 minutes for a kids meal!!! This place is a JOKE! SHUT IT DOWN OR ACT LIKE YOU CARE!!!!
