The 26 Best Restaurants In Lima - Lima - The Infatuation

"Cumpa is a Northern-style tavern on a quiet corner in Surquillo—a barrio now buzzing with new, creative restaurants—and full of sturdy tables, daylight streaming in (they close daily by 5pm), and dishes that inspire long conversations. There’s always ceviche, but also smoked trout muchame, green tamales, empanadas, and butifarras. Some dishes they do best are also hard to find, like duck al cilindro and duck ceviche, and pepián de choclo from Monsefú in Lambayeque. At the bar, pisco cocktails flow alongside seasonal drinks like the fresh, citrusy Clementina with pisco and chili. If you come for brunch, go for a cheese humita with pickled ajíes, a pejerrey sandwich, or a frito chiclayano." - paola miglio

Another gem I checked off during my birthday trip to Lima. This one came highly recommended by my sister—and it did not disappoint. We went as a group of five, and every single dish that hit the table was spot on. We tried the Tortillas de Choclo, a very interesting and rich Muchame de Pato (I’m a huge fan of tuna muchame, so I had to try the duck version—totally different texture, but still flavorful), and the Piqueo Cumpita, which came loaded: Tamalitos with Seco, Papa a la Huancaína, Crispy Pork Belly, Causita Marina, Cevichito with Choclo Fritters. It sounds like a lot—and it was—but trust me, it’s worth the dive. Also ordered a Classic Ceviche made with the catch of the day, the Jalea Cumpa de Pejerrey, and of course, no Peruvian feast is complete without a solid Arroz con Pato. Everything was fresh, well-executed, and full of the flavor you expect from a proper criollo spot. The space is small, so a reservation is highly recommended—this place fills up fast. Good news: they have a second location just half a block away for overflow. Bottom line: A loud, delicious, family-style spot that delivers on flavor and vibes. Go hungry, go early, and go with people who love to share.

Incredible food, bustling restaurant with tables crammed together, and very friendly staff! The food is the star, and every dish was craft to perfection: pato cured for 21 days, lamb cooked until it falls apart, tiradito with fish and a smoked rocoto sauce… everything was delicious and unique even though it is rooted in traditional Peruvian dishes. Make a reservation because it gets busy, and don’t be afraid to ask the waitstaff for recommendations. Highly recommend! I’ll be remembering that tiradito for years to come.

Wow!! I have no words. Very good. I want to put 6 stars!! Our server Raul was very helpful and kind. This place is a must. We ordered ceviche de pescado and ceviche de pota. Both great.

Muy rico! Cumpa, located in the up-and-coming SurquiYork area, is a must-visit for seafood lovers. It serves traditional Peruvian dishes with fresh, flavorful ingredients. The pejerrey sandwich is great but not the best i have had, but the sea urchin dishes are simply great! But how could they not. Ingredients are fresh and you taste the ocean. The restaurant has a casual, no-frills vibe and is always packed, testament to its great food. They’ve expanded, adding a terrace where you can enjoy your meal outdoors. perfect spot for a delicious lunch with a cold beer.

Amazing food! The tiradito with yellow sauce was incredible, wanted to drink the sauce. Also highly recommend the duck with rice, so tender! And the beef rib! In fact everything we had was really good. Only point of improvement is the dessert, it was not very tasty and it would be nice if there were more options.

We had one of our best food experiences in Peru here! Everything was outstanding: food, service, ambience. Plus you can observe the preparation in the open kitchen!
