Cunard Tavern in East Boston is a cozy eatery serving up globally inspired American comfort food, craft beers, and laid-back vibes perfect for any occasion.
"If a great view, space to spread out, and a lot of flowers are not items you require in a rooftop patio, then Cunard Tavern should suit you just fine. While the minimalist patio might not garner the most enthusiastic endorsement from us, at least there are spicy frozen palomas here, which are really all you need on a Friday evening anyway. We haven’t been here yet, but want you to know this spot exists." - Team Infatuation
"How do you get to KO Pies? Come down Marginal Street along the water, to a guard post at the gate (you're entering an active shipyard) and continue to an old brick building to the left with a giant like green butcher knife standing out of the ground next to it. The space itself is pretty simple, with an ordering area just inside the door and a few tables to the left. More seating can be found outside, with a covered patio that has a good amount of communal bench seating for those warmer days and nights. KO is an Australian restaurant. Though other options are available, the main feature of the menu is the Aurelian meat pies. A variety is offered, including one with ground beef, another with beef and cheese, a braised lamb shank pie, a curried vegetable pie, a beef stew pie, and a rotating selection of pies of the month. Get your pie as a floater (with mashed peas and potatoes with gravy on top. They also offer a selection of beers, cider, and sangria." - Nick DiStefano
"A recent addition to the neighborhood, Cunard is a local family-owned restaurant in what was once Oscar Woodworking, a cabinetmaking shop owned for about 60 years by the same family. The nods to the woodworking shop are felt throughout the building, from a weathered wood exterior to the 1947 Delta table saw that’s been repurposed as a host stand. The letters from the sign for Oscar’s will hang in the building’s lobby, and the shelving behind the 9-seat bar is styled to look like the shelves in a woodshop. The bar also features local craft beers and craft cocktails. A second bar is also located on the fourth-floor roof deck, which has additional seating and offers a limited bar menu. A full menu is offered in the main restaurant, with Chef Anthony Pino having grown up in Eastie as well. A great spot for dinner, drinks, or brunch; the menu has versions of comfort foods influenced by elements of the diverse immigrant groups that have called the neighborhood home." - Nick DiStefano
