"This downtown shop is good to keep in mind if anyone finds themselves near Pioneer Square in need of a banh mi fix. Cuon prides itself on its grilled meats, which are allowed to shine in the banh mi filled with nem nuong a.k.a. pork meatballs and kalbi-style short ribs. Delivery and takeout is available." - Krista Garcia

The food was great but I do not like the selective service. Their staff seem selective about who they cater to. Right there, they served some dine-in customers and asked some to serve themselves - get your own napkin, and water and come back to the desk to pick up your own food

LOVE this spot for a quick lunch bite. The staff is always smiling and helpful and the steaming hot bowls of pho come out quick! No frills just great deep flavor broth and tasty meats. Also try the lettuce wraps they have.

If you're in downtown Portland and need a break from shopping, this is the place to be. It's super close to places like Muji, Zara, and Pioneer Place -- to name a few. There's a good amount of seating, and it's a nice change of pace from the city. It's very low-key inside and a great place to eat alone or with a few friends. The staff is super friendly and helpful when choosing what to order. My friends and I didn't have to wait too long either for our food which was great since we were starving! There are a few parking garages nearby and street pay to park near the restaurant. The spring rolls as an appetizer are a must! They're SO good, especially their tempura. It's light and crispy. It was the perfect snack before our meal. Cuốn is a little pricier than your average pho shop, but considering you're in the city and the amount of food they give you, you won't be complaining. The pho was also very clean tasting and some of the best broth I've had from a pho place. We were all full AND satisfied by the end of the meal. I had a great experience here, and I will be coming back for more!

Place is so warm and welcoming. Seems family owned. Lady in the front register was absolutely the sweetest and kindest. My friends been talking about this place because I wanted PHO and this place didn’t let me down. BEEF PHO - Was beyond amazing. The broth is so good and the ingredients were so fresh. I highly recommend this soup. PORK BELLY BANH MI - ONE OF THE BEST BANH MI’s I’ve tried in my life. The bread is fantastic and the ingredients were cooked to perfection. I WILL MOST DEFINITELY be back to try it all.

Convenient lunch for a quick bite, first time tried the soft shell crab spring roll, was a surprise. The house special pho was pretty good, and the grill combo plate has also a big portion and selection.

Google
Absolutely BEST Vietnamese food my family and I ever had! Family was in Portland for Spring Break vacation and chose here based off of reviews. It didn’t disappoint at all!! The restaurant was pristine and decent sized dining area. Service was excellent and owners were so friendly! Ordered the Beef Pho, Chicken Pho and the Vermicelli Noodles w/ Grilled Lemongrass Pork and Shrimp. Everything was DELICIOUS and we have had legit Vietnamese food all over the West Coast. Also thank you for the recommendation to go see the Cherry Blossom trees at the Waterfront!!! Was definitely worth the walk!!! We will be back!!

This little gem is located downtown and convenient to get to. I needed a hot broth so popped in here for pho which l hadn’t had for a very long time. I don’t usually have pho outside (prefer parents one) but this was an exception. I was pleasantly surprised at how tasty it was, the broth really warmed me up. I ended up finishing most of it. So decided to order a vermicelli bowl with grilled lemongrass pork and grilled pork patties to go and had it for dinner. Shame they ran out of crispy pork belly, but what l ordered was tasty. The sauce was rather too sweet for my tastes, so l added lemon juice to balance out the flavour. Also the grilled pork was a tad too sweet too. Put that together with the sauce = too sweet. The place is like a canteen so very casual. For eating in, you collect your own cutlery and sauces (sirachi/hoisin) and the tea and water is free. I had so much broth so the tea was thoroughly welcomed just to cleanse my palate after eating. Staff were very nice and polite. I would certainly head back here should l visit Portland again.

I love coming here for really good Vietnamese food when I don't feel like driving out to 82nd. It's counter service so it's good for a quick lunch downtown. The spring rolls are gigantic and well balanced with protein, noodles, and veg-- and you get to choose your dipping sauce. The rice plate is hearty and the crispy pork belly is fantastic. Juicy and flavorful with crackling skin. I actually haven't had the pho here yet but I will soon and I'm sure it's good, as most other ppl there seemed to be enjoying it!

Andrea S.

Yelp
I went for the vermicelli bowl with crispy pork belly and tofu. Both were delicious--the pork belly was super crispy, and the tofu was perfectly seasoned. Every vermicelli bowl comes with an egg roll, which added a nice crunchy touch. The Thai green tea was a pleasant surprise. It had a lovely floral flavor that set it apart from the usual Thai tea. Definitely worth trying! Ordering is simple: you place your order at the counter, pay, and then find a seat. The staff were friendly and efficient, and my food arrived quickly. The place was bigger than I expected, with plenty of seating and a clean, inviting vibe. It's a great spot for a casual meal with friends or a quick bite on your own. Being in downtown, street parking can be a bit tricky to find, so give yourself a little extra time if you're driving. They offer delicious food, quick service, and a cozy atmosphere. The Thai green tea is a must-try! Just be prepared for a bit of a parking hunt.

Yelp
I grew up near Little Saigon in Southern California my entire life, a hub of Vietnamese food and culture within the midst of the LA hustle and bustle. The food there is delicious, the closest thing to Vietnam you can find. The food HERE at Cuon.. is as good and probably better than some of those places. I recommend the Pho Bo (beef pho) and the Banh Mi Thit Heo Quay (house special pork belly sandwich); both classic dishes done exceptionally well, satisfying the soul and the stomach. Service was excellent. They were kind and giving. Restaurant is completely family run as well; and the decor was soo cute, traditional and modern at the same time. I will return hopefully in the near future. This will be one of those spots I return too when I visit Portland again :)

Cynthia Z.

Yelp
The best Southern Vietnamese food I ever had in my life. It was so good. The food, the ambiance, and the services were all spot on. Once entering the restaurant, you walk up to the register to place your order. If you choose to dine in, let them know. Then go grab your sauce, water/tea, napkin, and utensils, and choose your seat. Once your order is ready, they will bring your order over to your table. But once you finish, remember to take all your dishes including the napkins over to the bucket... ORDERED: Beef Pho - it was delicious and filling. I put spicy sauce on it Chicken Pho - it was delicious but lighter compared to beef Pho if you don't have a big appetite. I put spicy sauce on it and it was so good and yet filling. Meatball spring roll - so good. I like how it comes with a big chunk of meatballs on top. I prefer peanut sauce with it over the fish sauce Pork spring roll - so good. Chicken spring roll - so good. Thai ice tea Viet ice coffee - so delicious and strong.

VietCitron T.

Yelp
Clean, super friendly service, hip ambiance, and fresh elevated Vietnamese foods. Price was on point.

Keely N.

Yelp
My coworker got me a tofu spring roll from CUON and it's very delicious. I'm super impressed by the peanut sauce. Tastes similar to Thai curry. The tofu was seasoned and marinated well with lots of fresh vegetables. Very filling.

Cindy C.

Yelp
What a great find in downtown Portland for a quick and easy lunch! Cuon is only open on weekdays primarily for lunch (their hours are 11-5), and they serve a variety of homey Vietnamese fare including spring rolls, banh mi sandwiches, and pho. You order at the counter, and then they bring the food to your table. We tried 3 of their spring rolls (which are quite reasonably priced since they're decent in size) -- grilled lemongrass chicken, grilled lemongrass pork, and grilled meatballs. They offer several different dipping sauces to go along with the spring rolls, and we had both peanut sauce and fish sauce. All 3 rolls were tasty and generously filled with meat, and they were very well wrapped so nothing came apart.

Yelp
Stopped by here for an early lunch on our last day in Portland. It was a convenient spot a walking distance from our hotel. We ordered the coconut Curry, beef Pho, crispy porky belly, and soft Shell Crab spring roll (which comes with ith avocado, but we asked for it on the side due to an allergy in our group). It was not too busy for a Monday lunch, food came out pretty quickly, with our spring rolls coming out last). Looks like they pre-roll their regular rolls, and specialty rolls might be made to order. Plenty of seating, about 4-5 four-tops and 10 two-tops available. Our group enjoyed the Beef Pho, Coconut Curry, Crispy Pork Belly, and Soft Shell Crab, in that order of preference. The pho was flavorful, with thin steak, brisket and meatballs. Coconut Curry is on the sweet side and has a little kick. Pork belly was balanced with crispy and fattiness, paired with fresh iceberg, pickled carrots and faikon, cucumber, and a dipping fish sauce. The spring roll was ok, the soft Shell Crab adding a nice texture to the roll... but was rather lacking in meat and flavor. Also came with a dipping fish sauce, both missing the garlic chili sauce that is typical staple in many Vietnamese restaurants we're used to. We'd come back to this spot and would order the pho again and try the traditional spring rolls, like the pork roll or sausage (nem nuong).

Yelp
The lemon grass pork vermicelli is soooo good, I have eaten here twice already this week and it is only Wednesday!

Albert S.

Yelp
WOW! This spot right here no lie was the best pho' spot I have tried so far in my life, and I have been to plenty being from the "Bay area". Great food we had the Pho, and Banh Mi, and thai tea was yummy. Shoutout to the employee by the name of Alex who gave me recommendations on how to order a banh mi to go which we did the veggies on the side so it does not get soggy for a flight we were catching later at night. Banh mi was smackin on the flight home! Alex also mentioned that the phos broth was prepped 24 hours ahead of serving which you can truly taste. RECOMMENDED!

David B.

Yelp
Amazing Vietnamese food- maybe best I have ever had. And the staff is very efficient and friendly in the face of a lot of business. Recommend the bahn mi w pork belly, but there aren't bad choices. Lots of seating make this very convenient!

Haeun J.

Yelp
What a hidden gem! The restaurant is a lot bigger inside than it seems on the outside. I came here an hour before closing, and ordered a few things, which came out pretty quickly. The chicken wings were sticky, salted perfectly, and filled with so much scrumptious flavor. Don't skip out on these wings! We were at a Vietnamese spot, so we, of course, had to get pho. The bar was delicious, and it was clear that they had made the broth with a lot of care. I also got the vermicelli with lemongrass chicken and the pork belly, and damn, that was epic. I've had a lot of vermicellis at this point, and this might have been one of the best I've had - best in both portions and taste. The spring rolls were awesome too; I'd stick with just the lemongrass pork next time (that was the best one).

Grace M.

Yelp
Idk why but I was a little disappointed based off all the reviews and photos. It was solid but nothing mind blowing and for some reason everything got cold super quick (everyone in my party agreed). I would come back for the fresh spring rolls tho, those were amazing - and great price too (4 decent sized ones for 14)

Yelp
Made another special trip today! I was craving salad rolls, & had a traumatic experience elsewhere yesterday so today I knew it was time to go to Cuon! I still wholeheartedly love this spot & today was the first time I had ever ordered online via their website for in store pick up. The entire process was SEAMLESS and they even send you a text message when your order is officially ready for pick up. Excellent use of technology and the online prices match the in store prices. I absolutely love this! My partner has never really had salad/spring rolls or any Vietnamese food before so I brought him home 2 different rolls and some crispy pork belly. We both loved every bite and I'm drooling while writing this 3rd review. Seriously, seriously SO GOOD. As a years long customer, I realized today that the front of house folks have been the same couple people for a very long time. That alone speaks volumes to how the business is ran and how people are treated. This makes me happy in a way that's difficult to explain with words. Thank you again Cuon! You're STILL killing it!

Iris L.

Yelp
Very crispy pork belly and if you're craving for some crispy pork belly that is authentic and packed with flavors, come here!! I have to say based on their price it is a bit costly but it is very competitive with most vietnamese restaurants in Portland. The one that is best for the price is probably $16 vermicelli bowl with two choice of protein. I chose pork belly and lemon grass pork and it came with a delicious an super crunchy egg roll!! The garnishments and veggies you can opt out of green onions or cilantro or peanuts toppings if have food allergy or leave it all as is. Walk in and order and then wait for food to he delivered to your table. Great customer service and you do bus your own table so don't forget that! The fish sauce can be a bit sticky so grab some extra napkins and set it on table like you would at home with a table cloth or something and so if you do accidentally dropped a few drops of fish sauce, it won't get on your clothes and make it smelly or leave on table to dry and be super sticky and nasty for next customers that dines in. One thing to improve on is probably leave some alcohol sanitizing spray bottle on the wall for customers to clean and bus their own table. There is only guy running the register for the most part so this will help reduce leg work walking back and forth and keeps the place tidy and clean from one customer to the next customer. Ambience is chill, nice interior, simple and basic. Lots of tables for table of 4+ or just table of 2 along the walls. 10/10 would come again!

Yelp
Part of finding great food is just walking down the street. Today was one of those days. It just happened to be lunch time and I saw a couple people walk into Cuon. I walked in and was please they offer authentic Vietnamese dishes such as vermicelli, phó, and banh mi. I ordered the vermicelli with a Vietnamese coffee. The bowl was a nice balanced portion of pork, chicken, veggies, and noodles. I enjoyed the perfectly charred meat and the fragrant marinade seasoning. The people working there enjoy their job and it shows. They all greeted me when I walked in and informed me there's a self serve section for water and utensils if I'm dining in. The cashier also brought out my food and take out to the table I was sitting. It was a nice joint to have a quick bite with full of authentic flavors. I look forward to coming back and trying their phó soup another day. Gam on ~

Jina M.

Yelp
Wow. The pork belly bahn mi was SOOOOOO GOOOOOOID! This may have been the bahn mi I've ever had!!! And I've had bahn mi all over. Filled with flavor. Loved the freshness the cucumber added. The meat cooked and seasoned to perfection. The bread is chewy and crispy at the same time with the perfect texture-- not too light, not too chewy and dense. Such a well balanced sandwich. Would definitely come back to try the others. The price isn't cheap but the sandwich is like double the usual size so it didn't feel unreasonable.

James R.

Yelp
Can't get enough of this place although I don't come here nearly enough. LOVE their vermicelli noodle salad with crispy pork belly and shrimp. THE. BEST! Hands down. They do seem a little pricey, but pretty much every restaurant is these days. My only complaint is that they're not open on weekends! But I understand why.

Jeffrey Y.

Yelp
Delicious huge bowls of broth makes my soul content. Came here with group of four for Black Friday and ordered a big chicken broth for myself. Friends ordered spring rolls and vermicelli noodle combo Ambience - 8/10 Service - 7/10 -- Decently speedy. Bus your own table. Quality - 8/10 -- Good spring rolls. Decent meat pieces in combo. Broth was phenomenal! Value - 10/10 -- Excellent just for the broth! $6 for the huge bowl made my tummy very happy. Overall - 9/10 just for the huge bowls of chicken broth! Would be less enthusiastic for the others but great overall, definitely in the top tier for overall experience of Vietnamese places I've experienced.

Kyle W.

Yelp
I went here with a few Vietnamese friends so the bar of Vietnamese restaurants will be fairly high, but this place meets expectations! I got the 3 spring rolls combo (lemongrass chicken, lemongrass pork, grilled meatballs (nem nuong)) for $13 total which sounds expensive on paper but the spring rolls are gigantic. I also tried the beef broth in the pho which is very flavorful, and my friends say that the broth is complex and rich, just like the ones they have in Vietnam. The spring rolls skin is fairly thin but does not fall apart easily; also, the skin does not stick with the other spring rolls which is usually the case elsewhere. There is a lot of meat in each spring roll that is grilled nicely and seasoned well, with a fair amount of vermicelli noodles and a bit of greens underneath. My favorite is the nem nuong as there is a nice crunch next to it, like the egg roll crunchy batter, but the other 2 spring rolls were still great. I really enjoyed the peanut sauce they served, but not too big of a fan of the fish sauce (though my friends enjoyed it). This is a fast casual place with somewhat inconvenient hours (only Monday - Friday, 10am-5pm), so you will need to bus your own table, but it is worth the effort to check this place out if possible.

Yelp
I'm Vietnamese so am very picky with Vietnamese food. I grew up in Southern California and have traveled to many places. It's hard to find Vietnamese food that is comparable to here so I'm happy we found this place. This restaurant has some one of the best Vietnamese food I've had. We ordered a bbq pork salad roll, crispy pork belly banh mi and a small bowl of beef pho broth. WOW everything was really really good. The banh mi was one of the best I've had, pork belly had crispy skin and meat had great 5 spice flavors, moist. The bread on the banh mi was so good!! Probably the best Bread for banh mi I've ever had. 100% get this. The pho broth was soooo good. It had hints of northern Vietnam pho where the broth is very clear with strong hints of pho spices. Wish we had more time during our trip so we could try more food here. I hope they stay around for a long time so when we return we can try more food. Oh yeah and service was great too... the person ringing us up was friendly and polite. I know that a lot of Vietnamese dishes are naturally gluten free but I liked that their menu specifically pointed out which items are gluten free (there are many!). I also like that it's self serve, I don't particularly like servers checking up on me while I eat so this is great lol

Christine N.

Yelp
Yum yum! Some good viet food in pdx! I l grew up in Westminster, SoCal area and we have the best viet food. I don't usually venture for Vietnamese food when I'm on travel in different cities since it's never been up to par. I'd have to say this is quite close and very good. Menu is fairly straight forward, close your base style (rice/noodles/sandwiches) and then the proteins. I opt for rice noodles with grilled lemongrass pork and roasted pork. The lemon grass pork as delicious, tons of lemongrass flavor. Roast pork was good, but I'd recommend trying maybe the Nem nuong. Fish sauce provided was delicious! But what I loved most was all the fresh veggies and herbs provided. Mix it all up and enjoy! Want to come back and try their pho and spring rolls next time. But definitely check this place out for good eats in downtown pdx

Rene N.

Yelp
I was not in a bad mood while visiting the chilly PDX DOWNTOWN AREA but now I am in a fantastic mood after a Bânh mi sandwich and a few spoonfuls of the well priced cup of Pho broth . Great service clean spot . A new favorite !

Cardin N.

Yelp
So once I found out about the amazing cuon's here, every time I drive to Portland from Seattle, I stop by and get some to go. The fish sauce is delicious in flavor and works really well with the rolls. I'm driving to Lincoln City from Seattle again next week and will stop by again!

Marlene M.

Yelp
Saw this place all over yelp so I had to give it a try! Coming from CA I was pretty hesitant on trying Asian food out here but I'm glad I did. We came right when it opened around 11 am and ordered the nem nuong in 2 pieces and the crispy pork belly banh mi which was the house specialty and the Vietnamese coffee. Staff was super sweet and answered any questions I had. There's a small station on the side for extra sauces and self serve water and hot tea station which was cute. Nem Nuong rolls were a 3/5. Super thick roll, meat was okay, not the best and not the worst. I would not order it again. However, the banh mi is literally to die for! That pickled sauce they use is great with the pork and the bread was not too hard and crispy like most places - literally a 5/5 BOMB. You have to try their banh mi if you come here. Vietnamese coffee had a hazelnut like taste to it and it was strong and good as it should be. Overall, I'm so glad I tried this place out!

Jason S.

Yelp
I work downtown and walk somewhere to lunch every day. This has quickly become one of my go-to spots for lunch. Fast, fresh, healthy and reasonably priced by 2023 standards. I love the lemongrass chicken, pork and also the pork belly. A nice bonus is they offer complimentary hot tea which is great during Portland's miserable, cold and wet winters. This is a must-go.

Seann M.

Yelp
I admit, the place doesn't look like much, but like so many other odd little holes-in-the-wall (or is it hole-in-the-walls? God language is confusing) the food is excellent. Their noodles are great and their banh mi is even better; my favorite in the city, in fact. I've had both meat and tofu versions and both are stellar. Staff is always friendly, service is fast. A real gem in the heart of downtown.

C H.

Yelp
Absolutely fantastic. Probably the first crispy pork belly I didn't hate the texture of. Lemongrass chicken is unreal, noodles and herbs are perfect. Staff is kind and attentive, definitely going back!

Peggy L.

Yelp
It's my favorite stop when I'm doing an Apple Store pickup or quick shopping trip with my ladies! They have the BEST roast pork here - get it ala carte or with your bun (noodles). It stays crispy after the whole day, we ate the rest for dinner and it was crunchy . Yums!

Jennifer O.

Yelp
This place had great reviews and was close to our hotel so we stopped by for an early lunch. We ordered the vermicelli bowl with lemongrass pork and meatballs (all of them include one egg roll). FYI everything is self serve (sauces, water, utensils, etc). The bowl itself was quite tasty, the meats had a lot of nice flavor. There were also crispy shallots, cilantro, mint, pickled veggies, and green onions to complement on top of the noodles. I'm docking one star because I found $15 (pre-tax) to be a bit high for a vermicelli bowl.

Leo D.

Yelp
Great spot for some high quality, not to mention hefty, Bahn Mi + spring rolls. (Can't go wrong with lemongrass pork, but can give the pork belly a try if you don't mind a bit more fat) Takeout is more convenient than dining in imo. The quality of the food seems well-known at this point, attracting a steady flow of customers despite the location not being the coziest.

Mihal F.

Yelp
Wowowowow. This place was fabulous. The chicken pho will definitely bring me back, as will the crispy pork bahn mi. Both were so flavorful, the pho was rich but subtle - not overly salty. The bahn mi pork had yummy crunchy edges and the veggies in the sandwich were kind of sweet but not in an overpowering way. The vibes were super chill. Not a ton of seating so probably best to go on off hours. Will be back!!

Francina L.

Yelp
I hadn't been to Portland in awhile but wanted some authentic Vietnamese food. It was a risky day in downtown and we wanted some soup. We saw this place had really good reviews and almost no one had anything negative to say so we gave it a shot. When you first enter you order your food at the register and then find a table to sit at. They have their own section where you pick up utensils and sauces, water, etc at your disposal. We ordered the beef pho and it was so bomb. Really authentic broth like ones in San Francisco and their meats were very tender. While at the cash register I had asked the cashier if they recommended the pork belly bowl or the banh mi and they said for sure the banh mi. What I didn't realize was that the cashier that I was asked between the bowl or the "pork belly" banh mi. So when I got the banh mi it had pork belly in it and it was the best misunderstanding that could have happened to me. The pork belly was absolutely amazing. Tender and flavorful and the banh mi had all the authentic flavor. The bread was crispy and hot but didn't cut my mouth. I absolutely love this place. Would go back if I'm Portland again.

Peggy S.

Yelp
Great to pick up and go. Responsive to allergies. Friendly staff. Giant portion. I stopped in here for a quick takeout lunch. Only a few customers there around 1:30pm on a Tuesday. I ordered the build your own type bowl with the gluten-free vermicelli, pork belly, and grilled pork. Since I named the gluten-free element they told me they take out the egg roll, which is fine (the portion is HUGE). They also took out grilled onions and green onions that go on top. The dish (see my picture) was packed. Healthy portion of meats, lots of veggies and herbs, and a bunch of noodles. They also still gave me the egg roll sauce if you need some dipping sauce. But the pork belly had such a flavorful crispy crust on it, you won't need the extra flavor. The grilled pork was solid but the pork belly way outshined it. For a drink, I got an iced peach green tea with half sweetener. It had a good flavor but I could not taste any sweet; made me wonder what no sweetener would be like! Next time: I'll try either the pho or double pork belly (maybe with some peppers on the side).

Tara R.

Yelp
This is my go-to when looking for lunch while working downtown. You can either order online for pick up, or dine in. Either way, service is quick! The pork belly is out of this world. Probably the best pork belly I have ever had. Everyone that I have brought here instantly falls in love. My favorite is the vermicelli bowl. The serving size is HUGE. Enough for either a very hungry individual or two lunches. And leftovers are totally worth it.

Curtis K.

Yelp
I've eaten Pho & Bun (vermicelli rice) in a lot of places, including Saigon and Hanoi, but none of them beats Cuon. And talking to Andy, the cook, I found out why. Whereas most places just cook the broth a couple hours to cut corners, he does it all night. And he makes sure the cauldron is spotless before he cooks it, to get any old beef smells out, which also degrades the taste. The reason their menu is so small is because they put everything they have into just a few dishes. Love that place.

Scott F.

Yelp
One of my go to spots when I'm downtown. I highly recommend the Banh Mi, but if you want something quick you can grab a couple of their delicious salad rolls and be in and out super fast.

Curtis L.

Yelp
Excellent food and drinks excellent service and great prices . I love I've tried almost everything on their menu and it was really delicious

Benjamin F.

Yelp
Amazing crispy pork belly banh mi and fried soft shell crab spring rolls. Vietnamese coffee was great too.

Trinh A.

Yelp
Was pleasantly surprised at how good this place is!! The pho broth was flavorful and was a big portion. Wings were nice and sticky. The pork that comes with the vermicelli noodle was crunchy. Would recommend if you're craving Viet food!!

Jina H.

Yelp
Simple menu, fast and good service, great food! Got the vermicelli with crispy pork belly and was given a recommendation by the staff of the second protein, between the lemongrass chicken or meatball. Opted out of the eggroll that is included. I got the it with the chicken and also a single lemongrass pork roll. You get a buzzer if dining in and pick up your own food at the counter, where you order. Service was fast and there is a station nearby with sauces, napkins, silverware, water cups, and to go containers. The noodles were still warm, vegetable toppings plenty, protein pieces evenly set on too. The pork was crispy and juicy, the chicken was tender too and had great texture balance. The lemongrass pork roll was so fresh! Option of three sauces and got the peanut sauce, had a really nice milky flavor (possibly coconut?). A lot of sauce was given as well. Bus your own table and while there, employees would bring out food if customers didn't have buzzers and also clean the tables in a timely manner. Good music and cool, air conditioned area for dining too

Drew L.

Yelp
This joint has top-notch grub and friendly service. A simple menu that is easy to navigate. Get the pork belly and try the nem noung. It's seriously good stuff. Check it out, sez me.

Yelp
Oh what a hidden gem in Downtown Portland. Very cute family owned & run restaurant serving nothing short of delicious Vietnamese street food. Their @spring rolls" which are basically large Nim Chows are probably the best I've had. They're large, fresh, and delicious. The vermicelli bowl's are also absolutely delicious. I recommend getting it with chicken and pork, but the pork and shrimp is a close second favorite of mine. I cannot emphasize enough how fresh these bowls are, they're large enough to fill you up but without the heaviness you feel after a large meal. Food: 10/10 Customer service: 10/10 Cleanliness: 10/10

Yelp
Cuon - Vietnamese Street Food is my favorite downtown Portland restaurant for lunch. The food is fresh and delicious and never disappoints. They make the best banh mi and spring rolls I've ever had. I've tried all the appetizers, all the phở, the curry, and all the rice and vermicelli dishes. There isn't a single menu item I wouldn't return to - I can recommend every one! I eat here as often as possible, usually getting my food to go. Their online ordering system works beautifully and if I want to order ahead, but pick up later, all I have to do is place my order, then call the restaurant and ask them to change the timing. I have to add that in addition to knowing I'm going to have a wonderful meal, Cuon's friendly, helpful customer service makes every visit a perfect experience for me.

Yelp
Best ban mi sandwich and spring roll I've ever had. Fresh ingredients bursting with flavor. Sauces that added spicy sweetness. Easy to find, corner location. A must visit.

Yelp
I was staying in the area and decided to order takeout. I came on a random weekday for dinner and there was plenty of seating and no wait. I was immediately greeted by the cashier. I ordered the pork spring rolls and the vermicelli. I love their section with all the self serve condiments. I also asked for extra fish sauce and they were really nice about it. The food tasted authentic and had that really good charred taste to it. I would definitely recommend this place if you want some good and fast service and viet food. Next time, I will definitely have to try their pho.

Yelp
I love Cuon, and have for years now. The food is always super fresh, flavorful, and the staff is friendly and efficient. They have always been there for me in my food life, when I just don't want to deal with crap and would rather someone else do the cooking for me. My go-to is the Pick Three (fresh rolls), one chicken, one pork, and one meatball. Vietnamese meatballs are not like Italian meatballs, they are more of what I call a tasty meat stick, but they are tucked in nicely amongst the tiny white noodles, crisp lettuce, cucumber, carrot, and a little magic crispy tube that I have named "crisp num(my)" for myself. All rolls have amazing flavor, and the peanut sauce that I choose is velvety and smooth and with a gentle bite. I've had the pho as well, which is amazing as well, with perfect meats and fresh veggies and a delicate and sublime broth. I will say though that my Pick Three fresh roll choice is like my comfortable blankie that I go back for again and again. I should have provided this glowing review years back, but here you have it. Cuon is downtown so you need to be ready to have elbows-out to grab a parking space, but trust me, it's worth it. Pro-tip: Order online, and they will have it ready for you at the estimated time.

Yelp
Great food and very friendly service. Try to get food to go as often as possible. You will not be disappointed! The owners are wonderful and willing to go the extra mile for all their customers.

Yelp
Really friendly staff. Food was great. I got the spam roll and it was extremely fresh. One of the best eats in Portland in my opinion.

Yelp
Bust your own tables here! Everyone is very respectful and cleans up after themselves. The runner for our food was a young man who had great energy and delivered our food with a smile! The food itself was all very delicious and filling. The banh mi was a Great Choice to pair up with the curry. The bread was nice and toasty when given! The vermicelli plate was also very enjoyable for my boyfriend. As you serve yourself to the silverware, water and sauces. There is cold water and hot tea ready to serve which you'd help yourself to with a plastic cup that doesn't burn when getting the hot tea!

Yelp
Huge bowl and the flavor was super on point. Great for the winter to get some hot soup
