"Many of these types of restaurants still offer chili dogs, a holdover from when restaurants like Cupid’s or Art’s Famous Chili Dogs (circa 1939) thrived." - Farley Elliott

We went for lunch to this iconic hot dog location. The Chilli cheese dogs are off the chart. The businesses is a little unkempt bur the foods are genuinely good.

Google
Pretty good Angus burgers, a bit pricey just for a burger combo. I paid $20 just for one combo and an extra burger. Way too pricey if u ask me. The place is pretty small, not very much of sitting area. The employees seemed a bit rude, they all looked annoyed as if they didn't like there job or want to be there in general. When they call your order they give you a dirty look as if the food we are about to eat is gross. Then again when has a traditional hot dog place ever over price there food.

I ordered the Spicy Sausage with chili fries. I felt like a college student again. Fun. The original Cupid was in North Hollywood. The Second in Van Nuys. There are only four left in SoCal. They close at 8PM so lunch and early dinner are best options. I will pass by again

First experience eating a Cupid Dog, love the pop from the skin on the hot dog when you bite into it. Chili cheese dog is delish. An awesome experience.

Google
Had a Polish dog today. Good sized hotdog with chili and onions.

Love these dogs. Reminds me of when the whole family use to go. 40 years ago. Always happy with there food no complaints. Good service and fast. Nice and quiet.

Google
Nowhere near the same taste this is definitely not a cupids hot dog not the same snap or the same chili taste this is just another pop up that says hamburger and hotdogs I can’t believe they try to get away with using the name cupids terrible I told you fries were wet and soggy the corn dog was OK but how can you mess up a corndog? The chili dog was nothing like cupids I have not tried the hamburger, but I could very well be good because Cupid doesn’t do hamburgers let that be a lesson.

Google
They really should change their name. I’ve loved Cupid’s since I was a kid. The one by CSUN & down off of Winnetka are great! This one has disappointed over the years and seems to be overpriced.

Yelp
Man I used to survive my late night endeavors on the original Cupid's chili dog. I can't stomach them anymore though, just a bit too thick for my taste now, but thankfully they offer a decent Chicago dog now. Yeah, made with a Vienna hot dog (harder to find than you might think). As I have aged, Cupid's is now the "adventure", instead of a brief stop, but I am fine with that. At least I'm not yelling at kids to get off my lawn.

Cristopher E.

Yelp
Only getting 3 stars because the food had good taste. But other than that, the price is somewhat high, and the portions are very small. I got a classic hotdog, small fries, and small chili cheese fries total was about $20. The fries were a little undercooked. For a $7 hotdog, it was super tiny. If i was very hungry and had to get the best for my buck, this would place would not be the best choice.

Ashley M.

Yelp
I wanted to like this place, I really did! But it was expensive and food wasn't very good. I could have honestly made better hot dogs at home. Maybe I'll try it again, it could have been a bad day or something. I got a chilli dog. Not too impressed :( I'll try again though, that's how it is sometimes.

Jonathan W.

Yelp
We've tried this place a couple of times, and unfortunately if you are expecting the Cupid's experience you get in Winnetka or Simi, this place is going to disappoint. It feels like it is very understaffed, service is slow and the food is not up to the bar set by the other two locations. I did recently discover in a conversation with the owners of the other Cupid locations that his location is not owned by the same family, so maybe that's why the experience is so different. The menu here contains some additional items outside the normal hot dogs, including burgers, fries, onion rings, fried mozzarella, tamales, sausages, and corn dogs. And it's all OK, but for the money and how long it takes, it's just not worth it. The chili tasted overcooked and not fresh, the bun was mush and sticky, and my son who usually devours any kind of burger ate half and said he didn't want the rest. If they would up the quality and the service just a bit I think I'd be on board, but as it stands there's better options nearby. There is a parking lot, and note that they are closed on Sundays...

Yelp
Really unique and flavorful Chili Dogs. Been going here and the Northridge location for many, many years,

Joe Z.

Yelp
I was running a couple errands in the area so I decided to stop at Cupid's Hot Dogs for a quick bite. I ordered a chili cheese dog and chili cheese fries. Yummy! Cupid's serves up some indulgent hot dogs. Hot dogs are a good size and I love that little snap. The chili was flavorful and had the perfect amount of spice. Service is quick and friendly Drink refills are $1 Definitely stop by if you're in the area. The menu is simple. Hot dogs/hamburgers/fries.

Scott R.

Yelp
I was in the area and stopped in for lunch. I had the Combo #2 which included a polish dog with chili, cheese, mustard & onions along with Fries and a drink. The staff was very friendly and my order was prepared quickly and it tasted GREAT! I will be back.

Trish E.

Yelp
Decade after decade it's still the best eats! Simple menu including chili dogs, tamales, corn dogs, polish dogs, fries,. Combos are a great deal as well. Deliciousness awaits!!!

James B.

Yelp
My favorite of any Cupid's locations. Mary is so friendly! The hot dogs are always served piping hot! Still my favorite 'snappy' hot dog in Los Angeles. Today I got the Polish dog with chili. My wife got the classic chili dog. Soooooooo good.

Tom H.

Yelp
Simply the best! Going to college at San Fernando Valley State it was a great break from school. For a $1.50 you could a chilli dog with cheese and a drink. Rated number one, just ahead of the Dodger dog. Now I will have to go to Winnetka or Van Nuys. I am sure these locations will be just as good.

Paul L.

Yelp
My lunch of the #1 original hot dog combo left a lot to be desired. Way overpriced for what you get, 15 bucks for a chili dog, fries and a drink.... Only 4 booths to sit and warm inside. Very busy parking lot.

Eddy O.

Yelp
WOW. $6.29 for a Cupids Dog EACH! Good Dogs but not at a Kings ransom. $4.29 for large soda!

Allen C.

Yelp
I've never in my life been any business in my life where there is a shift change and the whole place closes down. Even more Ive never been anywhere where they do a shift change, stop all business and don't have anyone that can't make a hot dog. I tried to be patient and wait but it seemed that my impatience got the best of me. I was really hungry and fortunately there was no shift change going on next door.

Jim B.

Yelp
This location is our favorite. The owner is very personable and serves a great product. Cupid's chili dog is still one of our favorites.

Marlyn D.

Yelp
The best Cupids in The Valley! Eat them weekly, soooo yummy! Their Fries are good too!

David R.

Yelp
Just had a chili cheese dog for lunch and it's the best dog I have ever had! The ingredients they use for their chili had flavor my tastebuds agree with. The bread and the hot dog they use felt good in regards to the texture. The quality overall is superb. Looking forward to returning for more hot dogs soon!

Carrie K.

Yelp
Simply the worst chili dog ever! Chili tasted like a bad can that was overcooked. Bun was steamed to death and had an odd consistency and stuck to the paper on the tray from the steaming. The dog was not better than a junky Hoffy dog, I can buy better quality wiener at Vons, and that's not saying much for Vons selection! Sadly surprised that this chili dog was that bad. The staff was nice, but they have to be nice to overcome the horrible quality and presentation.

Anamalia A.

Yelp
Food was ok it wasn't what I expected. Almost like eating a frozen meal from the store. Staff was still very friendly though

Art A.

Yelp
Horrible customer service!she literally got a pinch of cheese must have been low on stock and a bunch of old chili for my fries . The bun bread was hard and stale the fries were old and soggy. Smh . The burger was super thin as well.

Glen L.

Yelp
I often used to go to the long gone location on Victory Boulevard near Van Nuys Boulevard many years ago. I haven't been to a current location for two or three months, as it is geographically a little out of my way. But as of the last time I had a Cupid's dog, it was still the best chili dog ever. There's not much more to say!

Troy H.

Yelp
I always love a good Cupids Hot dog. One of my favorite items they serve is their Chicago Dog with mustard, onions, pickles, tomato, hot pepper and their Polish Dog which has chili, mustard, onions. Of course, you need to include with any of their meals the Chili Fries, which have a good kick and juiciness to them. The service is great as all your needs are met with any questions or any food order. A must go in Chatsworth.

Rich9960 ..

Yelp
My go-to place for Hot Dogs for years. All their dogs are great, and the service is terrific. The prices are reasonable!

Lisette A.

Yelp
I got 2 corndogs and they were fine, but my husband ordered a cheese burger and it was tiny and all it included was a bun (the buns were flat), cheese (not even melted and rubbery), meat, and bacon. We asked for no onion but they put no veggies on at all (tomato, lettuce). for the price it was a rip-off for the burger.

Morissa P.

Yelp
What can I say? This is not the original, which is long gone, but at least it's still Cupid's. On the rare occasion I find myself back in my hometown I HAVE to get a dog at Cupid's. It's the chili man!! The chili!!! Now, I must say that I am pretty sure the recipe has changed a bit over time, but it's still good and worth the trip.

Ricardo M.

Yelp
I find it very disturbing that when I walk up to the business the woman behind the counter isn't wearing the mask. Shouldnt she be wearing the mask at all times during the shift so that she doesn't contaminate the objects around her. 04/09/21

Yelp
This review is loooooong overdue. I literally can't even remember how long exactly I've been coming here. As a Valley kid you tend to stick with your favorites when you crave certain foods. This place is one of my Valley favorites for sure. Three things set this place apart from ALL the other Cupid's in the Valley: 1) They grill their hot dogs 2) They use Vienna beef hot dogs 3) They have sides like fries and onion rings As a native Chicagoan, I am an absolute snob when it comes to a quality hot dog. Marjan the owner is always so attentive and friendly! Tell her my review is the reason you stopped by. No she won't give you a discount if you do... PS: I honestly can't understand why all the poor reviews, perhaps they had a bad day? I know for me, every time I have come here both the food and service have been outstanding!

Christopher A.

Yelp
Love Cupid's! So happy to find this one. Nothing beats a Cupid's Original! The nice lady who operates the store is very friendly and I'm happy to recommend this business.

Fyuuh B.

Yelp
I came here last night with my friends and Cupid's is so delicious. This part of the valley is lucky. The chili dogs with cheese are amazing. They have amazing chocolate shakes too. Juan hooked it up on the fries too. Thanks,

Mike M.

Yelp
This is the same dog as the Vanowen location but definitely not the same dive vibe. Friendly service, and they serve fries and burgers but just not the same.

Lisa L.

Yelp
I'm truly surprised that I'm in a place where I have to write this review, but I'm so disappointed! We usually visit the Northridge location (hey, it's just off-campus and close to home) and we've been regular customers for nearly 40 years. But my husband was near the Chatsworth Cupid's and brought home some chili dogs for us to enjoy. But when I opened the box, I had to ask him, where was the relish? The cheese? Why was there so little chili on top? Turns out they charge 50 cents for a few strands of cheese, and also charge extra for RELISH! A condiment! No, we love our northridge Cupid's, where the food is yummy and the employees are so friendly and don't charge you for 2 tsps of relish. We won't be returning to the Chatsworth location. Don't like being "nickeled and dimed" to death.

Brian B.

Yelp
Ok, ok. I am long time fan of Cupid's Hotdogs, from way back when I had tried one for the first time as a kid... Now fast forward to present day, maybe 30 odd years later and I'm still just as big of a fan! Living in the San Fernando Valley, I have a few options when it comes to choosing a Cupid's Hotdog location near by and that are all amazing!! However, there is one of them, that has something very special... and that special something comes from the location at 9840 Topanga Canyon Blvd! They have French fries at this location! And more importantly, they have mouth watering chili cheese fries! I don't know why the other locations don't offer chili cheese fries (or even just fries for that matter), but it just seems like such a no brainer to offer them, when Cupid's Hotdogs has one of the most crave worthy chili recipes out there!! To me, it's definitely not easy to top what Cupid's Hotdogs offer when it comes to their signature Chili Cheese Dog (add cheese of course)... The hot dog buns are always warm, perfectly steamed buns that offer a serious wow factor of perfect, soft chewiness with each bite... Add to that, the perfect amount of mustard, along with tiny chopped onions and Cupid's signature hot dog franks. The hot dogs have a distinctive snap to every bite and each one brings that on-point flavor every time! It really is a perfect storm kind of chili dog experience, in my humble opinion And as if all that isn't already enough reason to make this location your fav chili cheese fry/dog location, the lady that runs the place (it seems with her family), is one of the nicest, sweetest people I've ever encountered in a restaurant environment! I've stopped by this location for my lunch break several times when I worked in that area and this wonderful lady and her business have never disappointed! This place, the sweet lady that runs the place and the amazing food are a shining example of what a great restaurant and business could be... While I love to show love to all of the Cupid's Hotdog locations in the San Fernando Valley, this is hands down my favorite spot to visit. Thanks for all that you do guys. You're awesome!!

Neal M.

Yelp
The owners Marjong and her husband are very nice people. Their daughter is fantastic. I have been coming here for years because the food is great and have felt comfortable every time I have come in there. The food is fresh. I get the hit with mustard and sauerkraut. It always tastes great. I wholeheartedly recommend them if you are looking for a great hot dog place come me here.

Di A.

Yelp
Every time I come here , I enjoy everything I order. The people who leave bad comments probably are in a bad mood . I can believe how they can leave bad comments here. Best hot dogs ever

Andrea C.

Yelp
Literally the slowest Cupid's there is... even if your the only one in here you wait a ridiculous amount of time. They have shown this time and time again. They truly have zero customer service or care. I wanted so much to write a positive review. I'm a glutton for punishment as my child loves to eat Cupid's. What kid doesn't like a tasty hot dog!!! The list would be so long in which ways they are not serving customers properly but I will spare you the pain. One thing always special about Cupid's are the buns being the softest EVER it's their thing. Very disturbing this Cupid's is the only Cupid's with a hard bun. Not sure if they are old and they try to rehear them or what but OMG. Since I have been a Cupid's fan since a kid, I'm strongly recommending you go to ANY other location then here. Canoga Park and Simi Valley are the winners. Simi has fries where Canoga Park is more like the old hot dog stands of original :)

Tiffany V.

Yelp
Tried this place for the first time and unfortunately did not have a good experience. First off, we called in to place an order for pickup and said they would have it ready in 10min. We got there and had to wait a long time- I think they were having technical issues with the CC machine, which I understand is not their fault. We got to the counter, said we were there for pickup and guess what.. they didn't even make it. So we placed the order again- didn't complain and just remained patient with them. When we finally got our hot dogs, took one bite, just awful. The hot dog skin was hard and chewy. Took awhile to eat. The buns tasted stale too. It's frustrating because of all the patience we had and then to have a terrible meal was very disappointing. The only positive thing I have to say is that we did like the chili.

Alicia S.

Yelp
Still good after all these years. It's a small franchise and the owner is very sweet. She truly misses her customers since the pandemic. I recommend we support them.

Al C.

Yelp
This is the best Cupid's if you want the original l Cupid's ...... fresh buns crunchy hot dog but best of all outstanding service. Thanks!

P B.

Yelp
The first time a had a hot dog from Cupid's I got hooked. Not only is the building adorable but the dogs are great too. I've had cravings for it at least once a month. I can never wait to go home to eat so I sit right down in their outside seating or in my car in the parking lot (convenient). Freshest way to eat Cupid's!

Kevin S.

Yelp
Been eating at cupids all my life. I just wish they come back to the east valley. They are the best hot dog and chili around.

Myra P.

Yelp
Love this place!! Close to home & best hot dogs with chili, onions & mustard called Cupid dog is a must!

Tim A.

Yelp
Ok...its good Friday and i had a dog with chille....go figure...lord this food is sacred...dint hate love here just love...best dam hot dogs and cheese burgers in the valley!!! Go eat...in peace!

Mike R.

Yelp
I am a third generation Cupid's enthusiast. For my father's 70th birthday last week, we decided to serve Cupid's as a surprise. (The party was baseball themed so it was perfect). We order 120 dogs with chili, cheese, and all the fixings. Marjan (owner?) did an amazing job putting everything together. The food was ready right on time, piping hot, and packed very well for transport. She even gave us bottles of catchup and mustard and one of those famous wooden Cupid's hotdog holders to build the dogs on. It went perfectly and my dad and his guessed were thrilled. Thanks Cupid's. You made our party.

Pezh M.

Yelp
The best cupid's hot dog .really good customer service .best quality .I really recommend this place.

Daniel D.

Yelp
first timer , chili just as good as Tommys , Dogs rar better than Pinks m they were super delicious with the subtle casing

Kat V.

Yelp
All I can say "meh." Really that's what I think of this place. I've had Chicago hot dogs in Chicago. And Cupid's Hot Dogs wasn't particularly outstanding IMHO. Tiny whole in the wall. Service was great, but the food was so-so. There wasn't anything really memorable about it.

Bob W.

Yelp
Very hard to find location, there is no street sign-age it you are traveling from the freeway you will pass the address and have to travel several blocks before you can make a u-turn. This is one of the franchise locations in the Valley, the dog and chili was same as the original locations There is a sign warning to order fries early since it takes several minutes to fry. Parking is crowded in the lot that serves lots of businesses in this strip mall.

Larry M.

Yelp
This location did not sit right with me. Hot dogs don't have the snap the Winnetka location has. Onions tasted old too, hard to describe taste but they were too strong or something. I'll stick to the Winnetka location going forward. I'd rather eat a Costco hot dog than here (and Costco's dogs aren't bad but they always give me the burps).

Robyn W.

Yelp
Cupid's Hot Dogs in Canoga Park, has been around since I'm a little girl. I loved seeing that paper bag sitting on the table a couple of times a month, as a child, filled with a variety of dogs; each wrapped in yellow waxy paper. Cupid's Chili Dogs were always a treat for me and my siblings but as I grew up, I just didn't visit them to eat but I'd drive by a lot. Seeing the Cupid's sign has always made me smile regardless. This review is NOT ABOUT THE CANOGA PARK LOCATION AT ALL. Today I was running some errands in the Chatsworth area and happened to look up while waiting for traffic to move. In a small little mall on Topanga Cyn Blvd., I spied a Cupid's Hot Dogs. Cool! I had no idea they had this location. The crew in the car were all hungry so I made an executive decision and we stopped to bring a bag of dogs home for lunch. As far as ease of getting in and out of the place goes-- If you're not driving on the same side of the street as the restaurant, you have to drive to the nearest intersection to make a U-turn and come back around. Topanga Cyn Blvd., is very congested at any time of the day so this is not an "easy in and easy out" kind of place. At the counter, I specifically asked if the dogs were steamed or grilled. While others may love a greasy dog with grill marks, I don't. The salt in the dog gets concentrated and they become very oily, which is too much for me and I end up with shot of Pepto Bismol. So, I asked the woman taking my order to please steam all the dogs, which she told me they do with the exception of the Chicago Dog--they grill those. With that info, I made it a point to please have that dog steamed for that order. I'm a firm believer that if you've never stood in someone else's shoes, don't comment on what you don't know. Well, I have worked fast food in high school. At a hot dog place with a drive thru to be exact and that place was banging from 11am til midnight everyday. I know the drill, the order taking, the cleaning, the prep, the uniform, blah blah blah. I've done it. So this is why I'm writing a novella. I could do their job with my eyes closed. The place wasn't busy--maybe five other people in the shop waiting on their orders but it seemed to take the two women at Cupids, 20 to 25 minutes to get the six dogs I ordered ready. I wanted to make sure they wrote which dogs were chili and which were not and realized the counter staff were not wrapping my dogs individually; they were sticking them in a box, one right next to the other with a piece of wax paper on top to hold them together. NO; I don't think so. The order was "to go" and how would those dogs stay up with a car load of people, other bags of crap accumulated on our excursion and a 20 minute drive home. I asked them to please wrap each dog individually and write on the paper which were chili, etc. The Chicago dog was for me and I asked that it be steamed, not grilled. When I finally get to sit down and eat, I unwrapped the food and the dog IS GRILLED. WTF?? Come on.... I couldn't eat the damn thing so I gave it to someone else. I called them to let them know that I placed a specific order outside of the everyday food they prepare and it wasn't that hard to accommodate but they didn't listen and I ended up paying $4.79 for food I couldn't eat. Of course, they told me to come back and they'll replace the hot dog. It's a 20 minute drive back to that location and I'll be damned if I'm wasting my time and gas to drive back there. It pays to listen to your customers. I also found out that they are not affiliated with the Canoga Park location at all. No wonder the dining experience was shit. I wish I had known this was not really CUPID'S HOT DOGS; I would have never stopped at this place.

Al H.

Yelp
Used to go here or lunch with co-workers before the pandemic and once last year during. Went Friday 4/22 to find out they have cut corners big time. I ordered 2 of their chili dogs which I ate inside at the store. I was shocked when I got my order, the owner brought it to me at the table. The buns looked like cheap grocery store buns and seriously were shriveled up from the bun steamer and, the hotdogs were only the length of the bun. Previously, they always used a longer institutional quality bun and the frankfurters stuck out both ends of the bun. The dogs were still natural casing but just didn't have that classic pop when bit and seriously lacked flavor. The chili even seemed bland in comparison to previous visits. I have known that this location is not one of the locations run by the original family but they were always good before, regardless. I will not go to this location again and I can't recommend it to others. For Cupid's, I recommend eating at one of the other locations.

Asha B.

Yelp
Until now I thought it virtually impossible to make a BLAND chili cheese dog. I had this place for lunch due to Jersey Mike's being packed today at that time. I asked for the fastest menu item and the cashier said the chili cheese dog, I went with 2 of those. This not only looked DISGUSTING but the hot dog itself seem to have some hard plastic coating on it and was tasteless, the chili was paste and the cheese was indistinguishable in that mashy pasty chili goop that smothered the dog. I felt gross after eating it. I feel gross while writing this review. Next time, Jersey Mikes - I will wait for you. (The service was great though, I will say that everyone was cordial. The food was AWFUL)
