15 Places to Try Tea in NYC

"This small casual corner shop specializes in strong, zippy Hong Kong-style milk tea. At the perennially packed Cuppa Tea inside the Tangram mall, you can catch dramatic pours of steaming hot tea from as high as the brewer’s arm can reach. The signature milk tea is strong: If that tea’s bitterness doesn’t wake you up, the posted warnings of the caffeine level will. The Flushing location is one of two U.S. outposts for the 800-plus store franchise from Hong Kong, and waits can be long not just for the tea, but also the pineapple bun and egg waffle." - Caroline Shin

Google
I am a huge fan of Hong Kong milk teas and egg waffles. I search and eat egg waffles almost every day when I’m visiting Hong Kong and my HK relatives think I’m nuts because for them it’s just a common street snack food they have around them all the time any where. Thus I was very excited to visit Cuppa Tea and try their Hong Kong egg waffle and milk tea for the first time. After searching in the mall for a bit we were about to locate the shop in a corner area and I noticed the decor - Hong Kong street names and signage drawn on the walls, a British Hong Kong replica faux phone booth etc so I had high hopes walking in to order on the self order touch screen - a regular egg waffle and a cold HK Milk Tea in glass bottle. Then after paying with my credit card and holding my receipt waiting for my order my high hopes started to get deflated - I noticed the monitor screen said 45 minutes wait time for an egg waffle (sucks but I’m patient for HK egg waffles), then noticed there was a “Convenience Fee” of .50 cents - what the?!? There was no notice nor explanation of this surprise fee at the ordering kiosk, we also noticed none of the staff nor the manager/owner spoke Cantonese or HK Cantonese yet this is supposed to be an authentic Hong Kong spot?, and the last deflating thing for me is no staff updated any waiting customer on the wait times or asked any waiting customer for their order number or what they were waiting for. All ready orders were called out in Mandarin Chinese and barely called out in English. After over 45mins waiting for our order I asked if my order number was ready in English the young girl replied in English saying she would check. She looks at the bags on the counter and then gave us our order then we proceeded to open the paper bag of egg waffle - it was room temperature and soft. Guess it was ready for a while and sitting around. Our high hopes are now pretty much deflated even before we taste our egg waffle! Now onto the taste test… the room temperature and soft egg waffle texture was not satisfactory- cold, dense, and soft dry cake like texture with no crisp exterior. Taste of vanilla and no egg flavor -mediocre at best. At this point my high hopes are all wiped away. But I’m ready to try their cold Hong Kong milk tea in glass bottle. Take a big sip swirl it in my mouth to get the texture and flavor profile - conclusion for USA standards of HK Milk tea it is Ok not authentic HK Milk tea but average to a tad better. Flavor isn’t the best I’ve had in the states and isn’t as complex as the best I’ve had in NY/NJ but it can pass as decent average in my opinion. So in summary is Cuppa Tea an authentic Hong Kong spot offering authentic eats and HK teas - it is NOT but it is below average for the egg waffle and average for the HK teas. Service and wait times are below average as well. I can’t say I would return anytime soon. Amendment to Cuppa Tea review after their reply: Thank you Cuppa Tea for your response. In all honesty your reply about improving said delays/wait times, bad or non existent basic customer service from your staff, and food seems to be pre-existing issues from prior reviews of customers dated months and years ago - and I read similar replies from you as well. I hope that things will change. One thing I disagree with in your reply is your suggestions to me for a "smoother experience"...I as a customer should have a smooth experience no matter what time I arrive at your establishment, nor should I need to order ahead of time, nor should I have to install an app on my phone to have a smooth experience especially when there was no line, and not packed with customers. I believe you need to sort out the inherent issues and inefficiencies at Cuppa Tea rather then having the customer improve their experience at Cuppa Tea. Lastly, you did not explain your hidden “Convenience Fee” in your reply.

I usually come here to buy HK style milk tea whenever at Tanagram mall, but lately the service has been neglectful. More importantly, the boba is decreasing in quality and is not being cooked enough. This is my third time ordering and the pearls are hard to bite. It's disappointing as I love the tea from this place but don't think I'll order again. Please fix the tapioca pearls and service!

Google
The milk tea and egg waffle are pretty authentic. Curry fish ball is also very good. The atmosphere is very typical for a small shop front in a mall.

The place is popping! I love how flavorful their Hong Kong-style milk tea is - it makes me feel warm and cozy, especially when served in a glass bottle. I also truly enjoy their limited-edition egg tart waffles as well. Delicious 😋🥹🥹🥹

Google
The taste was bad, and the service was even worse. After waiting over 30 minutes for just one drink, I noticed it had been sitting on the counter. When I asked the staff member about it, she completely ignored me and pretended not to hear😅then started reading the menu as if it were her first time seeing it🥹 The whole experience was both ridiculous and frustrating. After reading other negative reviews, I realized I was also overcharged—they randomly added a “convenience fee” without any explanation. I probably going to report this and see how they justify these unauthorized charges to the regulators. Who knows, they might uncover other illegal practices. Obviously, if this shop receives more than the normal number of credit card disputes, the bank will flag them and raise their fee. This is probably why they’re charging this unreasonable convenience fee—because they’ve had too many disputes from previous customers. No wonder this place has such low ratings.

Google
Average tea for $10 plus 😅😅 Was expecting way more for the money but no luck. Just ludicrous that these tea shops can charge such exorbitant prices. Are you really going to get repeat customers? Seriously… The location is ideal & convenient for movie goers and mall shoppers. Can’t see otherwise. Feels like price gouging at JFK airport ☹️

Google
Service was awful. We waited near an hour for a single egg waffle... Genuinely wondering-- why does it take an hour for egg waffles at this place? It took so long we had to ask for a refund and the cashier was rude about it. If you guys are going to take that long pushing out orders then at least train your staff better because the attitude really isn't helping.

Google
New Asian style tea spot. They have a lot a great selections I wanted to try but kept it to only two items this visit. Also love their colorful interior and packaging. For this trip, got their Mango slush w/clear jelly less sugar and Grapefruit ice tea w/clear jelly. Kinda regret having gotten the less sugar on the mango slush, tested little water down. Their self ordering system is really great and intuitive to use. Only regret is the store is not well maintained and had trash everywhere, including around the order counter.

Yelp
Came for the popular egg tart egg waffle and it was overall good but not something I would wait an hour for (which is the usual wait time). Staff was aloof and while focused on their work, they weren't friendly with customers. The space is wheelchair and baby stroller accessible, on a bright note. However, seating area is rather narrow and not very comfortable when there is a line of people waiting for their orders, which is common. In the end, good with many areas for operational and experiential improvement.

Yelp
Love their HK tea, strong tea flavor and sweet. There is always a long line for their egg waffles, but it's worth the wait. Pineapple bun with butter is also good.
google avatar

Caroline N.

Yelp
This place has one of the best HK Milk Tea. The velvet milk tea is very smooth. The egglets (bubble waffles) are soft in the inside. The warm pineapple bun with a slab of butter is delicious though not good for folks with high cholesterol. The lemon tea brings back childhood memories. You go to the kiosks to order using a debit/credit card or go to the counter to pay in cash. The employees call your number to have you come pick up your items. Go enjoy!

Yelp
We only ordered the egg waffles. They were just okay. They had a decent taste, but the exterior was not crispy and there was barely any matcha/chocolate taste. We thought the chocolate one would have some melted chocolate inside like a lot of places that sell egg waffles, but there wasn't. It was just chocolate flavored batter hahah. Would we wait a half hour again for them? Probably not ;(
google avatar

Yelp
Ok i see why it takes so long but man i wish i didnt have to wait so long. The egg tart one definitely was worth the wait. Fresh and hot and so tasty! They have seating area if you need but these kids work hard there. Id go back to try matcha and the other limited flavors! A bit costly but very filling snack when you are hungry!

Yelp
The sweet aroma from this store got me hooked! Whenever I walk through the tangram mall I see a long line for this place.. so of course I have to line up too! I got their: -pineapple bun with butter: warm and delicious. Not sure if I'm a fan of the butter slab but the bun was not too sweet = perfect -HK milk tea: absolutely delicious and not too sweet! Would come back!
google avatar

Yelp
The egg waffles and pineapple bun were so light and delicious! I'd def come back to get more~ i also really enjoyed the lemon green tea! The perfect balance of tartness and sweetness~ also very refreshing!

Yelp
This shop is located on the far side of Tangram mall and another entrance on Prince street. I ordered on the kiosk instead of their app, because I wasn't able to. Luckily, it wasn't crowded so the kiosk was free to use. I tried a couple of their snacks. The aroma from the shop always suck me in. Pineapple bun with butter - not bad. I took it to-go, and the butter can be put aside for you. Heat up the bun when I got home and stuck the cold butter inside. Hong Kong milk tea - cute bottle it comes in. The tea flavor isn't as strong as I would like, but it hits the spot when I have cravings. Pork floss egg waffle - not worth it. I could taste vanilla flavor more than egg. Too skimpy on the pork floss, so I could barely taste anything. Out of the 30 pieces (should be 30), I could only taste about 3 that has. Salted egg egg waffle - this is my favorite and why I come. Stick to this if you like salty sweet combinations. Although, the salted egg is subtle, it is noticeable. Egg waffle is what I crave for very often and not much places makes it anymore.

Yelp
Although we didn't get a drink here, it's all about their Pineapple Butter Bun ($3.65). Once you're inside, the sweet aroma of the baked goods surround you. They also have various options for egg waffles too, but just tried the pineapple bun, which was delicious. It is warm and soft sandwiching a chunk of butter to give it an extra creaminess. It's the perfect snack while strolling around Flushing.

Yelp
Located inside Tangram Mall, Cuppa Yea specializes in Hong Kong Milk Tea drinks that are full of flavor. Public transportation is preferred. However, if you are driving into Flushing, parking is available via garage and meter parking. I've been here a couple of times, and the drinks are superb. I usually go for the Signature HK Milk Tea. I love how bold the flavor is. This establishment has some tables and chairs available, but if it's full, you can go to the open space inside Tangram Mall to find a seat. There were a few times when I came here for their Signature HK Milk Tea, but they told me that I had to wait an hour. If you are going to be at the mall for an extended amount of time, you can always prser it and come back later. I love how their drinks come in a glass bottle. After drinking it, you can always use it for something else, which is an environmentally friendly thing to do. Sometimes, you can see one of the staff make the drink in front of you as they pour the drink into a cloth strainer, which is pretty cool. Their Curry Fishball is full of flavor but is a bit on the pricy side for the amount that it comes with. I prefer their milk tea based drinks over their fruit flavored drinks. I have yet to try the Egg Waffle but hope to order it in the nearby future. I think this is one place that is a must visit when you're at Tangram Mall.

Yelp
Food is ok, but wait time of 20-25 minutes for some waffles that could be finished in less than 2 minutes, that is just crazy. If this place were doing business in Hong Kong, it would have folded within a month. Avoid!!
google avatar

Kristy L.

Yelp
The service was good for the amount of customers they had. It was quick in making all the things on the list. The overall ambiance was simple and cute decorated like a HK vibe. The Milk tea was okay. It wasn't too strong and too sweet but it was lacking something that I can't seem to point out. The bubble waffle was good, it wasn't that sweet but it was lacking the crispy. The pineapple bun was good and crispy. I just the butter melted a bit more. But overall this is a good drop by for bubble tea and HK snacks.
google avatar

Carina H.

Yelp
The glass bottles for the signature Hong Kong milk tea were super cute, but I managed to restrain myself from buying another bottle I didn't need. The Pineapple Butter Bun is so good! You would think that the slice of butter would be too much, but it's really the perfect amount when it melts into the warm bun. The Signature Hong Kong Milk Tea with Foam Cap and boba is creamy, and this is my favorite HK Milk Tea I've tried yet. The boba is chewy and pairs so well with the foam cap. Since it was busy during the weekend, it took about 15 minutes to get our orders. There's some seating, but it might be hard to snag a table.

Yelp
When walking through the mall, you can't miss it cause it smells amazing! Process is pretty quick, can order with cashier or through the machine. It is pricey but really good legit HK style milk tea. Love the flaky buttery pineapple bun , comes out fresh and warm!
google avatar

Michelle G.

Yelp
We went here because we wanted to try the pineapple bun for a snack, so we got that with butter, curry fish balls, and a coconut milk with watermelon. It was a weekend so it was overwhelmingly packed and a bit crowded and there's definitely a bit of a wait time, but it was easy to order. Our favorite was the coconut milk with watermelon - it was so delicious and I would absolutely get them again. Then we liked the curry fishballs and pineapple bun in that order but I probably wouldn't go out of my way to go here just to get those things.

Yelp
[NYC BOBA TOUR STOP #48] *My other stops on the boba tour: https://www.yelp.com/collection/4dXTAnFqPHD1D8obaInTZw/nyc-boba-tour We came by later in the night on a weekday, so it wasn't too busy and there was room to sit. The store itself is really cute and a whole vibe-- it's clear Cuppa Tea has a brand and everything, from the cups to the food packaging, is in line with their branding. It's very satisfying. We ordered (rating): Amber Pearl Pudding Milk Tea (2.3/5), Coconut Mango with Clear Jelly (3/5) They unfortunately ran out of their Hong Kong Milk Tea that everyone seems to talk about when it comes to Cuppa Tea, so I went with their Amber Pearl Pudding Milk Tea. Even though it sounded like this would be some kind of special milk tea, this tasted like straight up Chinatown bakery bubble tea (think your Fay Da or Taipan) except it keeps the price tag of a bougie boba place. I found the boba to be oddly slimy and slippery. They also taste like nothing, and sometimes boba just tastes like nothing and it's completely fine, but these tasted so much like nothing that a note I have is that they actively taste like nothing. My friend got the coconut mango, which only comes with a 'less sugar' option, and she found it to be too sweet. She let me try a little and I found it to taste like mango candy rather than a fresh mango drink. The brightest spot was for sure the pineapple bun, which came out warm and with a pad of butter inside that slowly melted from the heat of the bun. I thought it was big and good value for the price, though the butter it came with was THICK. BIG butter, somewhat overwhelming, and I ended up having to wipe a lot off.

Yelp
Ordered the popular HK style Milk tea; Wait time was over 27 minutes; mighty long for three cups of Iced milk tea. Staff shrugged her shoulder and said there was a huge online order prior to me. Finally got my milk tea with boba; Tea tasted good with their famous Glass jar; other than that nothing else special about the drink.

Yelp
Cuppa Tea is located by the Food Hall in Tangram. Cuppa Tea serves up handcrafted bubble tea, HK-style drinks and eats. There are two kiosks when you walk in to put in your order. If you do not want to use the kiosks, you can also order from the staff at the counter. The kiosks were easy to use and the options were clear. The receipt shows the itemized items, taxes, and a convenience fee. Outside Cuppa Tea, we saw a huge advertisement for their coconut series and being a coconut lover, we had to try this. We ordered the coconut mango and cold signature HK Milk Tea in glass bottle. For the signature HK Milk Tea, if you add toppings, it will be served in a non-glass bottle (regular cup). The sugar level can only be adjusted to hot milk tea. The coconut mango has options for drink sugar level and toppings. The glass bottle and coconut mango come in only one size. The glass bottle is cute with logos and pictures embroidered on. The coconut mango was delicious. It had real mango pieces in the drink. The cold signature HK Milk Tea was really good and you can tell it was of higher quality - brewed with top quality tea leaves and goes through multiple processes of traditional tea pulling technique to achieve the richness of the flavor. Cuppa Tea also offers a variety of snacks - pineapple butter bun, egg waffles and curry fish balls. There are a few tables inside and has nice decor.

Yelp
I happened to walk past it around 5pm on a Sunday. There was a short line but it moved fairly fast. I waited for about 10mins from inputting my order at the kiosk to having my drink ready for pick up. I was super excited when I saw they have the velvet milk tea where sugar is replaced with condensed milk. This was always my go to drink while in Hong Kong. The tea was brewed to order. The flavors were strong yet not bitter which was well balanced with the condensed milk. It was smooth and not overly sweet. This is truly a solid and legit cup of Hong Kong style milk tea which unfortunately is not easily found around the area. The staff were friendly and service was efficient. There's a couple of tables for you to enjoy your drink and the decor is really cute that almost seems like you're transported back to Hong Kong. I'm looking forward to go back to try other drinks and food items on their menu.

Yelp
Come for the egg waffles, stay for the milk tea! I was finally able to visit Tangram Mall and had to stop in for the egg waffles at Cuppa. If the smell doesn't get you to come in, I don't know what will. I recommend getting the freshly made tea versus the bottled tea as it tased much better although the bottle is great to take home as a souvenier and is reusable. At Cuppa you know the tea is made fresh as they make it right it front of you. Ordering is easy as you just use the touch screen kiosk but there can be wait if it is busy. The are a few seats if you want to eat at the location but I prefer to take it out and find one of the several seats within the mall atrium. At the end of the day I recommend giving Cuppa Tea for a try. I will be back to try their pinneaple bun as well as their fruit teas.
google avatar

Tommy H.

Yelp
Milk tea has a strong tea presence with a hint of sweetness which was very addicting. The salted egg yolk was freshly made so it was crunchy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. The salted egg taste was minimal but I can still taste it so I still enjoyed it a lot. I will definitely return to buy other drinks to collect these cute bottles and also try other waffle flavors.

Yelp
Tucked away in a corner next to the Regal Cinema in Tangram Mall is this shop serving up some delicious HK-style pastries and drinks. LOVED the pineapple butter bun!! The bun came out perfectly warm and crispy and had a huge decadent slab of butter on the inside. The Signature HK milk tea was smooth, silky, and flavorful. The drink came in a cute glass bottle without ice so it didn't taste watered down. It took a while for us to get our order but I think it's because they make all orders fresh and on the spot so it completely makes up for the wait time. 100% would recommend this spot for the bun and milk tea!
google avatar

Lonnie K.

Yelp
I often drop by this Hong Kong based tea shop whenever I get the chance in Tangram Mall. Love getting either the signature Hong Kong styled velvet milk tea with condensed milk and pudding or the winter melon fresh lemonade black iced tea with less ice or no ice and regular sweetness. You can surely taste the rich tea flavor and smoothness from the condensed milk in the milk tea that is freshly brewed each day. The pudding topping does seem to add an additional sweetness and/flavor but nothing overwhelmingly sweet to the drink itself. You can really taste the tartness from the lemon slices without being overly sour and the freshness from the winter melon of the overall lemonade drink. There's even a self-ordering kiosk for people using debit/credit cards, otherwise you can just pay with cash when ordering in the front. Reasonably pricing for the drinks and food inside Tangram Mall. Staff is polite and tend to greet customers for the most part, service can be fast but slower during rush hours and on the weekends. I often see lots of people going to this place for their drinks. The most popular drink is probably another of their signature Hong Kong styled milk tea poured in glass bottles that you can take with you as a souvenir after finishing the drink. There's a designated seating area like 4-5 tables with chairs inside the shop. Sometimes, tables can be a bit dirty because staff doesn't wipe the tables down too often. I like that they've the iconic British red telephone booth as part of the decorations since Hong Kong is once a British colony until 1997 which makes the place so much cuter in my opinion. As for the snacks/food that they offer on the menu, the pineapple bun with butter inside is decently average so nothing to write home about. I dislike that the plain egg waffles are too soft and too moist instead of having a crispy outer texture like the ones in Hong Kong which can be disappointing. Maybe I've gotten a bad batch. They don't have a restroom but you can easily head to the ones in the mall which is just around the corner. Overall, a decent place to stop by if you want a quick drink and/or snack when you're in Flushing.
google avatar

Carmen W.

Yelp
Ordered the popular hk style milk tea that comes in a glass jar. The jar is cute and reusable, but not sure if i would pay $6 for this drink again. Although it had strong tea flavor, much like authentic hk style milk tea the mark up is quite exorbitant for what it is. Decor inside is cute and photo-op worthy.
google avatar

Yelp
Love the signature hk milk tea and pineapple with butter! Past few times has been quite a wait. Today I tried to order the pineapple bun and it was sold out.. around 11:15am. I went back around 11:30am and it was available to order. I waited about 15 minutes for my bun and drink. When I sat down to eat nearby, the bun wasn't even warm so that was disappointing. Although today was an off day, it's usually pretty good.
google avatar

Anthony P.

Yelp
Came for the HK milk tea on a Saturday early evening 6ish PM and there was an impressive 20min wait for the HK tea! Albeit you can see them brewing and steeping/straining it fresh, pouring it into large colanders into giant metal canisters which is a bit of a show. The aroma fills the little stall inside Tangram. HK MILK TEA - strong, quite delicious and strong tea flavor. Not super sweet though, and what I love about HK tea is that strong condensed milk sweetness but I would say this is some high quality tea, but just a bit different from what I'm used to. But now that I've tried and reflected - I'm sold!
google avatar

Nicole H.

Yelp
The taste was okay but 1 singular egg waffle should not take 40 minutes when there was nobody. The egg waffle was done and sitting there and they didn't call my number, it was sitting there for like 10 minutes.
google avatar

Jacky C.

Yelp
Was recommended this spot to try two things: their HK milk tea and the egg waffles. I have to say I made the mistake in ordering their Hot Coffee Milk Tea with less sugar and wished I gotten it with regular sugar. In terms of the egg waffles, I shared with my gf Salted Egg Yolk and Matcha. Both make a great snack. Super fluffy and warm, which were freshly made from the shop. I have to say that the Salted Egg Yolk taste didn't really come through for me, so it tasted like a plain egg waffle. Overall, not too bad and would get the regular HK milk tea next time rather than the coffee one.
google avatar

Patrick W.

Yelp
TLDR: Cuppa Tea is one one of the better true HK milk teas you can get in Flushing. Stick to the classic snacks, pineapple bun and HK milk tea. Weekends you're going to queue for quite a long time. Go during off hours if possible. While I don't think it's the best HK milk tea in Flushing, it's a very good version of it. It comes in a nice fancy glass bottle for the $6 it cost. The pineapple bun is definitely one of the better ones you'll find in New York. It's crusty, fluffy and the butter is a cold slab - the way it's supposed to be! Coming back from HK recently, Cuppa Tea definitely scratches the itch.
google avatar

Daniel F.

Yelp
If you want to wait over an hour for milk tea and a pineapple bun with butter, then Cuppa tea is the place to be. Their drinks are good but they are not efficient whatsoever. They have an app too, which you can order ahead but that didn't help at all. We've been here multiple times and it's been getting worse each time we go. This past sunday was the longest we waited, and everyone was extremely frustrated. The staff is all smiles and joking to each other, which doesn't help either. The drinks at Meet Fresh is a good option and right around the corner

Yelp
Solid HK style milk tea. The boba is good too. However, you can find cheaper HK style milk tea elsewhere in Flushing or in Chinatown Manhattan that is just as good or even better. You also aren't guaranteed the glass bottle depending on if they run out or if you choose to get toppings. Straws are paper which are a bummer. It's nice that they don't have ice in the drink, so it doesn't get watered down, and you know that you aren't being cheated for the drink.

Yelp
A shop tucked away in the corner of Tangram selling classic Hong Kong snacks and teas. Most notable item is their pineapple butter bun, which they have limited quantity of per day. It's certainly pricier than the local Chinese bakeries all over Flushing but they pride themselves in slab of butter that's stuffed in the warm bun. I got the pineapple butter bun to go and they packaged the butter separately with instructions to warm up the bun for a few minutes before eating. I heated it up in the oven and then stuck the butter in, which only melted slightly cause it was a fairly thick slab of butter. The butter actually added a nice richness to the bun, adding a slight savory note to the otherwise sweet bun. The bun itself was a good size and fluffy with a good layer of crumb on top (the best part of a pineapple bun). Overall, it's a good pineapple bun, especially when it's warmed up and melts the butter nicely. It was good to try but it's not mind blowing so I'd probably stick to the cheaper pineapple buns from the Chinese bakeries.

Yelp
If I were ever to have breakfast in Hong Kong, this is exactly how I imagine it would be like. It was relaxing and amazing at the same time. I loved how smooth and cozy the milk tea and pineapple butter bun made me feel. The pineapple butter was toasted just right, not too hot or too cold. My husband loved how strong the hot coffee/tea drink was. The yummy curry fish balls were just enough spice, with extra sauce leftover to turn some noodles into the perfect snack. This was one of the most memorable & joyful breakfast experiences I've ever had. Cuppa Tea definitely gets my Yummylicious Stamp of Approval! Two thumbs up!!!

Yelp
Love their drinks. I'm already craving for more!! I ordered their Fresh lemon black ice tea, their signature HK style milk tea, their Sweet velvet milk tea (basically is their signature milk tea with condensed milk instead of regular sugar), and their Coffee milk tea. All drinks in glass are serve hot. So I brought them and put them in the fridge to bring that cold and drink them the following days. Their signature milk tea is not bad, got the strong hk tea taste. Thumbs up! But I actually prefer the Sweet velvet milk tea because it replaces the sugar with condensed milk, which makes the milk tea taste slightly sweeter and smoother in texture. And the coffee milk tea was just made right! I was kinda disappointed that I got there a bit too late to try out their Butter pineapple bun because sold out by then. Hopefully I can try that next time I visit. Definitely a return for me.

Yelp
The pineapple bun was good and came out warm/fresh. I liked the pineapple bun itself. It was my first time trying a pineapple bun with butter. The salted butter was very thick and cold. The combo of flavors was good, but I didn't like chewing on such a thick piece of butter. If you love butter, you may like this creation a lot.

Yelp
Service could have been faster. My regular black tea didn't have to take 20 minutes to make.

Yelp
Tried for the first time and got the Hong Kong milk tea. To my surprise it was very strong and full of rich tea flavor. However for 6 dollars I do feel like it is a little steep. While the bottle is a good size I feel like I drank it so quickly oops. I always pass by while I'm in tangram but there is usually a line or I am eating at the food court upstairs. I like love to come back next time to try their other drinks or the pineapple bun with salted butter.

Yelp
Located inside Tangram mall/food hall, this is a very small shop/area with a couple of tables for seating. There are two kiosks for you to place your order. After ordering, you wait for them to call your number. The wait for our order was pretty long (at least 10 mins). You can watch the worker steep/pull the milk tea in front of you while you wait. The main reason I wanted to try this place was for their signature HK milk tea. Beware they charge extra for their signature glass bottle, which I didn't get because I'm not going to reuse it. It is a social media grab though. I was quite disappointed by the HK milk tea though. It tastes only OK to me. The tea flavor is definitely there and pretty strong too. Do note that their signature milk tea drinks are highly caffeinated. I also tried the passionfruit lemonade with lychee jelly, mango passionfruit jelly iced tea, and sunset orange iced tea. I liked the passionfruit lemonade which runs more on the sour side because of the lemonade, but it was refreshing on a warm day. The other drinks are only OK and I feel like it was not worth the price. Overall, I think I am happy to have tried this place once and tried their milk tea, but I don't think I'll come again. For standard drinks, I think the price is a bit high. Paid about $25-30 for all 4 drinks.

Yelp
I am in love with their egg waffles and the fact they offer glass bottles. The only thing I am confused about is I ordered a drink without toppings and first time I got a glass bottle, but second time I didn't. I appreciate the HK traditional milk team, but it is a bit too sweet for me. The pineapple bun is good, but I asked for the butter to be on the side, not sure how that buttery patty would taste since it is huge like 1/2 inch thick. I am a fan, but workers here do move super slow, like they are not hustling at all here.

Yelp
This is a bubble tea place that is impossible to miss if you visit the new Tangram building. It is along the hall just as you enter the mall area. Apparently, this is a chain that is from Hong Kong. The menu makes this apparent too. Besides the bubble tea, they offer various snacks. These include the famous Hong Kong egg waffle and pineapple buns. I've eaten both of these in NYC'S Chinatown since I was little. The pineapple buns here are very popular and frequently sell out. The drink menu consists of a good mix of hot and cold drinks, fruit drinks, teas, and more. There is no counterperson to take your oders but a very convenient self-order kiosk instead. Our drinks were made fresh to order and were all very tasty.

Yelp
Cute place with limited seating. Only 3 tables that can seat about 3-4 ppl each. Reminds me of a small cafe in HK. The teas are freshly made to order. I got their HK Milk tea (regular sugar)- pretty creamy and not super sweet. Perfect! Also I love that it comes in a reusable glass bottle ($6). Tip: Order 20-30 minutes in advance through their app. Even though I only ordered the tea, it still took ~25 min before my order was ready.

Yelp
Came here with a friend on a weekday evening to get their signature milk tea and it was soo yummy! Usually other milk teas have their own taste but in cuppa tea, they use fresh ingredients to make their milk tea. Always going to be returning customer !

Yelp
The signature tea is great! This HK tea is just so smooth, with just the right amount of creaminess, and no hint of bitterness. I definitely feel the hit from the caffeine in each drink. Even though I can't choose my sugar level, the beauty is that it really isn't that sweet anyway. The glass bottles are a nice way to enjoy it will also taking care of the environment. The small discount for bringing the washed bottles back is a nice gesture as well. I have to say, I don't like the entended wait for tea as I feel they are short one more staff member just manning the counter. These employees work hard and don't slack from what I can see. Just like any business these days I'm sure they are dealing with a shortage of good help so hopefully that changes as more time goes by. So make sure you have time to wait for your order.

Yelp
I'm so happy that Cuppa Tea has finally opened in NYC! I haven't been back to Hong Kong since pre-COVID & it's nice to have something comforting a little bit closer to home. Of course, their specialty milk tea is on point - a definite A++ for sure. I took off a star because I felt that the egg waffles could've had more umph in their flavors (I'm pretty sure the classic is pretty solid but our salted egg yolk one was a bit lacking, sorry). Overall, I'd stop by again. Addicted to their milk tea, woohoo!

Yelp
The five stars is solely for the Pineapple Butter Bun but... wow. This bun was MASSIVE. My friend insisted on getting this, and at first, I was skeptical. But the salty and creamy butter mixed with the sweetness, softness, and crispy bun was splendid. Will definitely be getting one of these whenever I am in the area.

Yelp
Loveee the egg waffles here! So fluffy and so good really brought back nostalgia. They also have the HK style milk tea that comes in their signature cup with the green and it was cute to have. They have butter buns here too but I didn't try and just got the egg waffle! I always make a stop here if I'm in tangram to get egg waffles!

Yelp
The staffs were friendly, there was a collaboration with Cuppa Tea and Na Tart with promo with 1 boba drink, 1 coffee tea glass drink without boba and 4 Portuguese egg tarts all for $20 plus tax for the month of March. Order from one and then bring receipt to get the other goods from the other store (which are both in the tangram tower). Cuppa Tea counters accept cash but they have the machines that accept credit card with the promos for March ($20 for 2 teas and 4 original Portuguese egg tarts). Portuguese egg tarts: crispy egg tart shell The original milk tea was better than the glass drink. The place is small and lots of restaurants, you can find a spot to eat in the Tangram tower. Overall, would recommend!
