Restaurants Are Possibly Starting to Pay Workers Fair Wages | Eater

"Owned by chef Katie Button in Raleigh, NC, this tapas restaurant eliminated the subminimum tipped wage and adopted a model guaranteeing all employees above minimum wage with tips pooled and shared among hourly non-management staff. The owner reports the change immediately produced fairer, more equitable pay across workers, improved recruitment and retention, and has materially changed employees' lives even as the business navigates pandemic-era challenges." - Jaya Saxena

One of a kind is a good way to describe the pieces in this store, however saying that is not enough. This cute store sells all handmade items from mostly local artists. It's really the best way to buy someone a gift. They will get a one of a kind gift and you'll get the satisfaction of seeing them happy while supporting a local artist trying to make it in a big corporate world that pumps out a million of the same junky things over and over. 😉 Oh guess what, it's affordable too.

What a wonderful little shop! So many different artists compiled into one space. The atmosphere and decor are beautiful. The employee had great suggestions and recommendations in town as well.

Curate is a unique rare little gem on Hargett. It's a small boutique that features local Raleigh vendors' goods. Located right next to the Black Friday Market who also showcases local business owners. I absolutely love the concept of shopping locaI and stopped in this evening in search of new quality candles. Emily was so welcoming upon entering the boutique. They were offering charcuterie and wine during our visit. I heard about Ky's Kandles and wanted to support her by purchasing from her new spring collection of Kandles. My favorite being her Joy kandle. Feminine. Uplifting and fragrant. I'm very picky about my candles. I don't like to buy just any brand or scent. A good candle starts with good ingredients. Ky makes her candles from soy & coconut wax. I found her scents uplifting and calming. I love how she shared the positive mental health and wellness inspiration behind her spring scents. I love how creative her different scents are. She also hosts candle making workshops as well. I can't wait to stop by again and browse the other vendors.

So glad we stumbled on this place! We had literally been googling "Made in Raleigh" and "local goods" or "local makers in Raleigh" and finding links to a bunch of malls and then walked right past Curate. It's perfect! A little market place display of local makers from jewelry to candles to stickers to tea towels. And even a few cute tee shirts! If you're looking for a souvenir that will remind you of your visit or just for gifts from Raleigh, this is the place.

Fantastic fresh wonderful service. Cúrate is a must visit. We started with the Sangria and a cocktail, snacks of olives and tomatoe bread. Then proceeded to tapas....salad, potatoes, seafood, desserts and coffees. What a nice atmosphere and easy parking with street or garage parking (garage parking was $25 for 85 min though 😞) Angelica was a great steward helping us navigate a perfect meal.

LOVE this place! Perfect spot to buy a special gift for self or others. So many unique items (from jewelry, art, home decor, baby items, funky cool miscellaneous items, candles, chocolate). The list goes on and on! I love the local products. The staff is also super friendly and welcoming!

Yelp
This store is so cute. They feature local artists that rotate monthly so there is always something new. It's perfect if you can't make it to a pop-up market or are looking for a gift.

Yelp
Adorable little boutique in downtown Raleigh. While walking the streets of Raleigh I stopped in here for a gift. The employee working the counter greeted me when I walked in. The shop is small and packed with items from various vendors. The shop can quickly become crowded if more than two parties are inside. It is pricy, but the items are unique and local. I purchased a succulent ornament. The shop is a great place to look for gifts. Most items list their price. The ornament was not labelled, however, the employee did have an inventory sheet with the listed price. The price was steep at $12, but since it is a gift and locally made, I purchased it. Overall, I enjoyed walking through the shop and recommend this boutique to others!

Yelp
The CUTEST store with so many specially curated local artisan's items. Everything is affordable, but somehow it's still really easy to spend a lot of money in this shop. Lol. It's like going to a local craft market - right in one cute little boutique. Highly recommend.

Yelp
I enjoyed visiting Curate and seeing what local businesses have to offer. The store is always clean, well lit and organized. There is always a good selection of items offered in the store. The price isn't always the most reasonable. It's nice to be able to support local to help businesses grow.
