Avocado margaritas, mole, enchiladas, and unique murals.

"Curra’s biggest claim to fame is their invention of the avocado margarita—a cocktail that somehow makes us feel like what we’re drinking is at least a little bit healthy—but there’s also a pretty large menu of more classic drinks that contain surprisingly few avocados. The menu here leans Interior Mexican—with classics like cochinita pibil and pollo con mole—plus a few of their own takes on classics, like margarita key lime pie and churro cheesecakes. "A Hyde Park vegetarian restaurant at 4215 Duval Street that served vegetarian Tex‑Mex dishes—enchiladas and a cashew-tamari dressing—and maintained a large garden is closing after 40 years; the owners said takeout-only service since March proved unsustainable despite a recent bump in business." - Eater Staff
"That Duval address had been home to Mother’s Cafe, a longtime vegetarian restaurant that closed last October after 40 years; co-owners John Silberberg, Anne Daniels, and Cameron Alexander had been operating the restaurant with a limited takeout menu for most of the prior year, but it wasn’t enough to sustain the business." - Nadia Chaudhury
"I finally tried Mother’s Cafe and the vegan Belgian chocolate cake made my week: silky light chocolate frosting atop coffee-kissed cake fulfilled my chocolate cravings. Pickup orders by phone and there are Grubhub and Favor deliveries." - Erin Russell
"A South Austin Mexican restaurant originally opened on East Oltorf in 1995 by brothers Jorge and Marco Garcia is expanding with a second Hyde Park location at 4215 Duval Street, slated to open in spring (March or April). The move responds to strong neighborhood demand and will allow Daylon Garcia to oversee the new venture; the restaurant plans to broaden its customer base while keeping operations local. Notably, the Hyde Park spot will launch a proprietary golf-cart delivery service for Hyde Park and Hancock—eschewing third-party platforms—with an ice chest for to-go margaritas and a hot box for food. The new location will offer the regular menu (mole, cochinita pibil, carnitas, enchiladas, tacos, and avocado margaritas) plus a new Tia’s Menu of family-recipe specials such as bacalao, chicken tinga, and scallops aguachile. The original Oltorf location currently operates dine-in (50% indoor capacity), curbside, and delivery, and the restaurant has earned local accolades including recognition from Texas Monthly and the Austin-American-Statesman." - Nadia Chaudhury
