"This punningly named fast casual restaurant nevertheless has a commodious and colorful dining room where you can while away an hour or two feasting on the broadest menu of street snacks — mainly from Mumbai, but also originating in New Delhi and Kolkata. Several are borne on the Portuguese-Indian rolls called pav, but others take the form of crunchy, chutney-laced chaats, bowls, or even burritos. For bigger appetites, there are thalis, and many of the snacks and meals at Curry Up are vegetarian or vegan." - Robert Sietsema

"Lots of places in the metropolitan area dispense Mumbai street snacks, but none quite so well as Curry Up Now, a lively and colorfully decorated fast casual spot with seating inside and outside. Vada pav is a pair of buttered and toasted buns into which are loaded round potato fritters with a pleasing cumin flavor, and lots of a fiery spice powder known as Bombay dust. Plenty of other snacks and curries, including vegetarian and chicken versions, are worth checking out." - Robert Sietsema

This Indian restaurant offers tasty and flavorful meals, but it is relatively expensive for a street food type of place. The portions are small, and even five different dishes costing $42 in total did not seem enough to feed two people, and they did not. Despite the higher price and small portions, the food is undeniably delicious! One thing to watch out for is the spiciness of the dishes. I opted for mild, but it turned out to be spicier than I expected, so be careful. Apart from the spiciness, the flavors are exceptional! My ultimate favourite is Bhel Puri - a dish made of puffed rice, some cucumber, onions and chutney. When it's freshly done, it's supposed to be a bit crunchy (which was not the case unfortunately), however it was simply amazing! I would order that again. The Vegetarian Manchurian and Punjabi Chicken pieces were also exquisite. Although the food is fantastic, the portion sizes do not match the price, I feel it's a bit too much. But saying that, the menu is intriguing enough for me to stop by and try something else sometimes in the future. Visited in July 2023. Paid by card.

Went to the hoboken franchise, awesome food, worth the money. The manager Mr. Wilson was so kind and went out of his way to make sure we have the best food experience. He is passionate with his food and likes it perfect. He would not let anyone slack on the quality of the food. One person messed up the order by adding yogurt when I asked not to, he made it again and gave 2 desserts for free. He is humble and really cares for you. The food reminded me of the street food taste in India. A must visit place indeed.

Wow ! Taken by surprise ! The Non Veg Thali had Amazing flavors, especially Lamb Keema was great . The naan was so fluffy and great service. Chola Batura was nice hot but yeast falvor was exceeding more than it should be.

Google
I love the Paneer Tikka Masala! Just a huge fan and this place did not disappoint! Samosas are good too but a bit spicy! The fried raviolis are filled with cheese and come with tomato sauce, very good! Delivery was fast and dinner excellent! One of the best spots in Hoboken for Indian food!

We were craving for indian food, but only for a quick lunch fix since we planned to have a feast for dinner. Curry Up Now popped up when we were searching, and what appealed us was their signature street food. The option on the menu is not various and we had their Holy Molt Fried Ravioli & Death By Tikka Masala Thaili to share between 2 of us. The food was overall decent with proper portion and our favorite was the fried ravioli because the filling is creamy & cheesy with crunchy layer & appetizing sauce. However, we had a small complaint that they didn't serve water even tap water, so we just purchased their limited bottle water selection.

Google
Nice experience in Hoboken... the naughty naan was good , filled with Sri Lankan style seeni (sugar) sambol, although the name is made with onions ... The vada pav, alu bonda (potatoe fritter) in a bun - slider ... was spicy...

Google
Great food and service! We came during busy lunch time, and we had a great experience. All the food came out quick, and all of the dishes we ordered were incredibly tasty! Make sure to finish your meal with a mango lassi. We'll be back for sure!

I wanted to tick off Vada pav from my bucket list from this place after hearing good reviews from my friends. The start didn't go that well as it was a busy Saturday night for them and it seems they were a bit short of staff as the orders were pouring in through delivery apps. Finally after a wait of 10 mins, the staff took the order and was promptly delivered. The ambience of the place does give you Desi vibes The Vada patty is a frozen one which they fry and serve it to you, though not that big a fan of frozen stuff but I felt the Vada here felt really close to the one I've in Mumbai. The garlic chutney sprinkled on the top too was good. They can improve on pav, by finding an alternative to the existing one. Looking to try out more of their stuff in the future.

Yelp
Food great. All tasty very. Little confused about the spiciness. We asked non spicy for burrito, death Tikka, but it was very spicy. For sexy fries we got it spicy, but it was not at all spicy. Still I Recommend though

Yelp
Ordered their peace and love bowl (vegan) and samosas. The samosas were dry and the bowl was okay. There is more rice than tofu in the bowl so proportions were very off.

Yelp
Ok, This is a gem of a spot. Really fresh, delicious & authentic Indian flavors offered in quite a creative fast casual menu. I have ordered from here a couple of times now. The Saag paneer, Chicken Tikka masala and Samosa chaat all hit the spot for me. I did have high hopes from their Butter chicken but it had an overpowering ginger flavor which was a bit of a letdown. Good, high quality takeout packaging as well. Overall, better spot compared to nearby Karma cafe IMO. Hurry up now, order from Curry up now!

Yelp
Ever wanted Indian food but also you really want a pizza? Can't decide between the two? You've come to the right place. You've guessed it, you can get yourself a Naan Pizza! Curry Up Now is an Indian Fusion experience on a main street of Hoboken. The rice is fluffy, the flavours are there, albeit perhaps almost a bit much..! But you really can't go wrong!

Yelp
Got a lamb roll/wrap to go because I happened to be in NJ that night and was looking for quality cheap eats. It was fairly tasty and comparable to things like Kati Roll or Roti Roll and similar competitors. The next time I'm in the area I would definitely like to try some of the other items on the menu because they sound interesting.

Yelp
This is a good pitstop for just as it's described- 'Indian Street Food' experience including plenty of samosas little and big (the littler seemed spicier,) And for the most part healthier options vs other fast food including vegetarian & vegan that is when it's known what vegetarian is. I requested a vegan meal yesterday and asked what was in it, was assured only vegetable and plant-based as the newer employee wasn't sure of the specifics. And it turns out when I got home it was hard to tell what was in there but we saw chicken mixed in for sure! It wasn't a crisis for us because we're not super strict but for others this could be a serious matter. I tried to call the company, but there's no way to reach them and feel obligated to put his comment here so others don't have the same mishap, especially those that are strict, vegetarian or vegan. And not blaming that person that did not know which of the ingredients were scooped into the vegan dish, as it's management's responsibility to make it clear to the employees and the customers what's in the dishes. (Analogously my local, Whole Foods hasn't given proper training to the people that put out the produce, crushing greens for example.) This is not about the service provided. It's about the companies understanding that service requires informed employees many of them are just starting off in their careers and need the appropriate training.

Yelp
Curry up was terrible!!!! My friend and I are huge Indian food lovers and go to all the Indian spots in Jersey city and Hobohen. We stopped into Curry Up when we had dinner plans to go to another Indian spot around the corner and when we found out they changed their schedule and closed that night -- starving and directionless we stumbled upon Curry Up! The service was terrible, the food is basically what you would get off an Indian buffet of sorts and the food came out at all different times and took FOREVER!!!!! We literally finished eating our curry bowls and like 10 mins later after we asked twice, the naan came out (which was not fresh naan-- it was straight from the freezer section and tasted like mass produced pita bread!) Over all the experience was strange and unpleasant. The food is a weird fission of Indian and Mexican I believe but done poorly. I bet the food would be tastier if it were fresh but it sits in chafing dishes on this hot serving area for the staff to serve from. We gathered all this after ordered which was also not pleasant. And the food is expensive. Overall just not a great experience. We won't be back!

Vishnu G.

Yelp
The menu has several interesting-sounding fusion dishes, but they seemed pretty average quality to me. The chaat options were also just OK.

Yelp
Had a wonderful time at Curry Up Now. It was starting to rain and we were starving and the manager happened to be outside while me and my friends were arguing about where to eat. He stepped in and was just so welcoming we said "alright we'll try it." Not disappointed at all. Great fast casual Indian food. And actually some If the best naan I've had in a while. SO fluffy and soft.

Yelp
This restaurant was easy to find and we were able to get a parking spot right out front so rare if you're from the area. Our server Sue was a delight to have help us as it was our first time here. She was very well informed about the menu and how spicy each dish was. We got here basically at closing time we told her we'll take it to go but she allowed us to eat outside at their tables until they needed to bring them inside for the night. Naughty naan - delicious not your average naan. Could've been cut into slices for easier eating. Very flavorful I'd say mild-medium on the spice. Sexy fries - spicy! Have your water ready. Nicely spiced and flavored. You could taste that the sweet potatoes were fresh. Tikka masala bowl - I added chicken it was very good, I've never had the cheese and the lentils before and I really enjoyed them. Overall I'd definitely come back! You should check them out & follow me on ig @foodtourwithlaur !

Yelp
Ordered two bowls - Punjabi and Kheema. The Punjabi bowl comes with saag paneer, Tikka paneer, lentils and rice. Kheema Bowl had Kheema curry and lentils. Each bowl can easily be shared by 2 adults, the portions are generous. I love spicy food, felt the curries were flavorful but overall mild for my palette. I asked for some hot sauce on the side. They definitely offer a very nice variety of veg and meat options. The Mango lassi was yummy and refreshing !

Mirna A.

Yelp
Husband and sister decided it was that time to try some good food. We walked past this restaurant multiple times so we gave it a try today . As soon as we walked in we were greeted by Mr.Wilson. We ordered Meat Sweats, Death by Tikka Masala, and Mango lassi. Mr.Wilson was kind enough to to explain to my husband what exactly was inside the mango lassi, we appreciated that because he is very picky . We trusted Mr.Wilson's opinion on the drunk and had it . We had our food brought to us and at first glance everything looked AMAZING ! beautiful colors, decent size for all we ordered. And we began to ate . Rice had a good flavor All the meats were yummy, good amount of spice in some of them, the little colorful crunchy items (sorry forgot the name!) they had good texture when eaten with the food, the naan was delicious. Mango lassi was actually pretty good ! I definitely recommend it . Overall this was a great stop . We will come back definitely next time. Customer service great ! Good, great!, atmosphere, great! If you haven't eaten here then what are you waiting for ?

Bianca S.

Yelp
Food is pretty decent considering I was the only Indian to be seen in the restaurant. Service was good though it seemed like they had more interest in hanging out outside than helping the only two customers in the restaurant, especially when it came time to pay. Enjoyed their Thali selection. Samosas are big but oily and their naan was soft but lacked flavor. Probably wouldn't go back but would consider ordering through Too Good To Go.

Alice M.

Yelp
SO GOOD!! Came in and got a bunch of options - potato buns, fryums, samosas SO DELICIOUS and the really really nice man taking our order covered us when we were a dollar short- so sweet and considerate! Food came out hot and delicious and all at once with delicious options every dish better than the last The pani puri were a flavor explosion and dip the fryums in the chutneys from the samosas for even more flavor! Gave us vegan options and the Limca is SO GOOD like healthy sprite YUM Vibe was very chill and calm - some solo travelers and everyone with a smile on their face from delicious food

Maheema K.

Yelp
Horrible Food. 20 dollars worth thali and hardly any quantity in it. I expected food to taste good but only the chicken kadhai was edible. The keema was stale and disgusting. The chicken gravy was sweet and weird tasting. Hated the food and the over all experience. Horrible & very expensive food!!

Lajja M.

Yelp
One of my favourite Indian street food in Hoboken area. I have ordered from this place couple of times and have dine in as well. Dishes tried - - kachori chat(8/10) - holy moly fried ravioli - 10/10(personal favorite) - itsy nitsy naan bites - 8.5/10 - Tikka masala bowl- 10/10(My go to bowl) - Ghee makhni butter bowl - 9/10 - naughty naan - 10/10 (Favorite) - sexy fries/ 9/10 They also have vegan options in the menu. Along with the bowls and burritos menu also consists of various thalis. Will go again? - 100% yes

Kristen G.

Yelp
As another yelper wrote, they are SUPER overpriced!! Flavors were nice but small portions with large price tag. We ordered take out. My boyfriend ordered the keema pav and death by Tikka masala thali. The keema pav is $10 and it's so small and you get buttered bread. Not filling at all. Had a bit of spice to it. The death by Tikka masala thali had very very little chicken. I estimate about 1/2 cup total with rice. Again, nice flavors but very small portion for $14.50. Way OVERPRICED. We won't be back or order delivery from here again. Maybe if they give larger portions or lower their price. We keep burping the food up too; "repeating it." Ugh. Also, when we first walked in to Curry Up Now, there was a drunk dirty homeless man lingering around touching the screens in the front and papers and menus. He should have been kicked out!!!!! Come on! *****I'd recommend Karma Cafe over this place any day! Karma is soo much better. Better quality food, better service, better prices, way better portions.******

Lee S.

Yelp
This place is wild. Very tasty food, and in packaging reminiscent of 2 Guys From Kabul (Simpsons reference).

Venkat R.

Yelp
We keep ordering from here since the past 3 years and we always liked the food. and were excited to know that the place opened up in Hoboken and it was always our fallback place. But.... We were there last night and ordered Kheema Pav and a Chicken Kathi Roll. Both were extremely bad. The Kheema Pav had very Kheema and more potatoes. The worst Kheema Pav we had in our lives. The Chicken Kathi Roll was also one of the worst. The roll was seemed like it was hardly cooked, was filled with tomatoes instead of chicken. Terrible. The service was subpar. The person that was serving was smelling of strong odor and was unkept. The order was delayed and had to remind them. Will NOT be going there ever. DO NOT recommend this place to anyone. Really sorry to see that this place has become such a mess.

Laila D.

Yelp
So excited that this San Francisco Valencia Street transplant has come to Hoboken!! What a welcome addition! They had a soft opening the past couple weeks and officially opened yesterday. Congrats! I had forgotten to eat all day and it was 530pm and I was quite hungry. Enthusiastic to support a new, local business and also to check out their food, I was thrilled to see so many vegetarian items on their very large and creative menu. I ordered the 'Punjabi by Nature' bowl with saag paneer and tika masala with paneer (instead of chicken). This comes with a generous portion of delicious tumeric and fenugreek basmati rice, with a side of daal and cucumber salad. It was absolutely delicious and not greasy. I devoured it and brought home a samosa and mango lassi. The samosa was noted by my husband to have a crispy and bready, lighter crust with well-spiced peas and potato filling and also was not greasy. I will definitely be back. There are many vegan and gluten free options. The menu includes Indian street food, burritos, fusion Indian poutine, rice bowls, desserts, drinks and more. The staff were so kind, helpful, and attentive. Thank you for such a memorable dining experience!!

Leslie L.

Yelp
Love this place. The burritos are my favorite. Great food and quick! The staff that works here (in Hoboken) is great.

Melody D.

Yelp
This spot is delicious. I had the pleasure of swinging by during an event week and I'm so happy I was able to make it. You have the option of dining in or taking the food to go and parking in the area is only limited to the street or you can park in a lot for a fee. I got the tikka masala burrito and I wish I was able to eat it 5 times in a row. (Maybe because I'm obsessed with tikka masala) The burrito was definitely filling and stuffed beyond its capacity. For my drink I had the mango lassi and it left me wishing I knew how to make my own. If you're ever in the area be sure to stop by!

Sarah G.

Yelp
Really delicious!! I tried the paneer and the sweet potato fries. I especially liked the spicy ketchup. On their website, the gluten free items are clearly labeled but on the menus they had in store, it was not as clear. I just asked someone at the register and they gave me a chart that showed all of the allergens, so I was confident that what I was ordering was gluten free!

Megan C.

Yelp
Delicious! I enjoyed the Punjabi by Nature bowl with Chicken and Garlic Chili Naan. The chicken was spicier than I thought it would be, but it was tasty! There were so many flavors, I really enjoyed it. The server behind the counter was very nice, too. I would recommend it! The portion size was plentiful, too!

Ritu B.

Yelp
Mr. Wilson He is a manager at curry up now hoboken location. He is a very kind and sweet person. Has a very good customer service . pls go meet him and order some food Indian food. Ritu Bhatia

Rose L.

Yelp
Stopped in today for an amazing meal!! Some mango Lassi. Some Naan pizza Oh my the choices. Have plans to go back when the kid is home from college!!

Rinkie B.

Yelp
It seems like this is the first time I have been to Indian fast food restaurant. The service speaks for itself. The ambiance is pretty neat. The restaurant is very clean. Our food was served very fast. Now when I talk about food. Id say we ordered chicken tikka bowl, death by thali and samosa chat. Chicken tikka had a very good taste and I d say the quality of rice and it's fluffiness, I can eat it over and over. I loved Naan very soft and buttery. The samosas in chat wow!!! Very tasty. The staff very friendly. I can't wait to go back. I highly recommend to go and try their food.

Katherine B.

Yelp
Good food and good flavor. Had the Punjabi bowl and there was plenty of food. I went with the vegetarian version, which was all paneer. The chana masala had a nice little spice to it. I really liked the picky onions on top. There was even a little side of diced tomatoes and onions. If you're worried about the food being too Spicy, in my opinion it was just enough spice. An added bonus, the staff was very friendly and helpful.

Mitali B.

Yelp
So yummy! food was delicious. Everything was tasty and well prepared with incredible flavors. Love love love their vadapav its very close to what we get in India, I'm hooked. We also ordered the Naughty Naan with stuffed Paneer makhini. Great service too.

Nimit P.

Yelp
Awesome place with delicious food and great staff. Mr. Wilson provides great service. We will definitely be back for the burrito and rice bowls next! We loved the nan pizza and papdi chaat.

Neha M.

Yelp
We ordered about 20 mins via phone before getting there. They were so sweet in taking our order, we just wanted to be sure it was hot and ready by the time we picked it up. We got sexy fries with lamb - the BOMB. The lamb was made with potatoes so next time I probably won't get lamb bc I'm not a big white potato fan but other than that - delicious. Protein bowl - listen I make cauli rice a lot, but they made it with all the Indian flavors - the best. Paneer masala, butter chicken, Kadai chicken. All were amazing, I would just say least fave was kadai chicken but still, all tasty Spicy chicken sandwich - got the spiciest too - and the spice level was disappointing but again, flavor and quality was all there. Highly recommended and we will definitely be back!

Lantz A.

Yelp
I had a wonderful rice plate of Chicken Tikka Masala and a Mango Lassi. It was great, hot and served quickly. Even though it's supposed to be fast food, they give you abre-alas plate and a nice silverware setting! I most certainly will be back!

Bryan C.

Yelp
Wish ordered food from their website instead of using service as cheaper and description states the family entrees do not include rice. The pictures on caviar showed entrees with Rice which were either added or showing Rice bowls. My tandoori chicken sandwich was no Where near as big as picture as had about 1/3 bun left over after eating chicken. The chips tasted like cooked in old oil and overcooked.

Gabriella A.

Yelp
Was looking for a warm, hearty meal since it was freezing outside, and this definitely did the trick! This place has a blend of traditional dishes, and then some fusion ones as well. My boyfriend got the Meat Sweats Thali platter which was super tasty, but definitely spicy! I got the Tikka Masala burrito with riced cauliflower. Now normally I don't think riced cauliflower can replace rice, but in this instance it really did! It was masssssssive, so you'll definitely be filled up by the end. It was spicy, but not blowing my head off. The staff were very attentive and made sure the place was spotless. Also, all the food is made to order, so it was fresh and piping hot when we got it. This meal was worth every penny! I am definitely stopping in here again the next time I'm in Hoboken!

Alex M.

Yelp
I wasn't going to stop here while visiting NJ but the manager pictured was so nice I had to swing by on my way to the airport. I got one of the bowls and it didn't disappoint!! Both dishes were super flavorful and the naan was soft. I'll be back next time I'm in town

Sarah B.

Yelp
One of my favorite take-out meals in recent memory. We ordered a feast, and were not disappointed with a single dish, including the creative desserts. The naughty naan was a favorite. Best of all, food was still hot when I arrived home which I'm picky about. Highly recommend this gem if you are in the mood for delicious and creative Indian.

Manasa A.

Yelp
I would lime to give this 3.5 stars. The menu looks very promising but the food lacks in taste.I would give a 7/10 for the food. Some of the stuff we ordered was tasty but others were meh. The chaat stuff is pretty good. Didnt like the kathi rolls much. The thalis were okay but the butter chicken in the thali was delish.

Julia Q.

Yelp
I'm in loveeeee with their chicken tikka masala. I've only ordered through Uber eats but I can't imagine having their food at the store itself. I tried to order online right now but they're closed :( so sad! Must try

Namitha S.

Yelp
Great place for Indian chats. We stopped here for evening snack and picked up Vada Pav. The place was great, parking could be challenging but it's always the case in jersey. The dish was very tasty, very close to what I used to have in the streets of Mumbai. The price point was also good, I will stop by again when am in the vicinity.

Wendell T.

Yelp
Excellent chaat! Brel puri and samosa chaat. very refreshing and flavorful. Every dish is made to order so it's not fast food.

Pooja R.

Yelp
Frequented Curry Up Now in San Jose, California a lot. The naughty naan and deconstructed samosas are my most favorites. Finding this place on the map in Hoboken NJ was a delightful surprise. Dining in is allowed although social distancing and mask policies are in place and capacity is limited. Ordered the deconstructed samosa, tikka masala burrito and tikka masala thali with Gulab Jamun for dessert. Everything was tasty delicious and reminded of Indian street food!

Karishma D.

Yelp
This place has such good food. I ordered the vada pav, and my bf ordered the tikka paneer burrito. Both tasted authentic. Wilson, the manager, was very welcoming and recommended us how to pair our foods with their special sauces. Him and his staff checked in with us to make sure we love our food and are enjoying our time. I highly recommend this place!

Shona T.

Yelp
I was pretty excited to see a modern trendy Indian restaurant in Hoboken. The name sounded super catchy and I ordered a Thali and chicken Kathi roll. Food was decent. I'd say 7/10. I was disappointed in the portion size of Kathi roll. Generally if I'm paying 10 bucks then I'm used to getting 2 pieces. Had I known I'd def changed my preference. The thali was worth a try. I'd like to come back and try some snacks. I also got mango lassi which was rich and tasty. I was really pleased by the interior of the restaurant. Post Covid I'd def want to sit in and enjoy the artwork as I eat.

Kyle L.

Yelp
Not great. Really would not recommend to anyone. We had really been looking for a decent Indian selection, and this was more akin to fast food.

Jigna P.

Yelp
Nice Indian twist. They gave branch in different places. We tried one in California. Was really nice.

Kiran Y.

Yelp
Really nice burritos Indian style Good selection of vegetarian and vegan options too on top of meat options

Zei K.

Yelp
So so good and so close to work~! Super cute place and delicious food. I love the really original takes on some classics like indian style poutine, indian style pizza etc... Overall, love the concept and originality, the people are friendly, knowledgeable and great and the food is good! Try it
