The Best Spots for Rum Cocktails in Tampa | Eater

"Imagine a rustic hunting lodge was taken over by a family with a passion for colorful modern art, and you’re close to the experience at CW’s Gin Joint. The popular after-work, downtown spot is teeming with Tampa’s core of young professionals, mingling among artwork and antler chandeliers. The curated setting makes a perfect backdrop for the show that the bartenders put on, mixing cocktails with flair and personality to keep the crowd entertained. With those theatrics, you don’t need to order anything complicated: A simple espresso martini made with Zacapa Rum comes with an elaborate pour you’ll want to have your camera ready for." - Matthew Meltzer

It’s Manhattan Season — Here’s Where to Order One Around Tampa This February | Eater

"If the name has you expecting a gin bar that shows reruns of TV shows long-gone, you’ll be sorely disappointed. But if you expect a boisterous, good looking crowd imbibing under antler chandeliers and colorful modern art, you’ll be delighted. The Gin Joint is the kind of downtown gathering space where you’ll find lingering office happy hours at booths next to couples on third dates and beginning-of-the-night bachelorette parties. The drinks are the most elevated in the neighborhood, offering high-end spirits and creative cocktails befitting the upper-scale crowd. Manhattans are always in order here, so you can’t go wrong with an Angel’s Envy Manhattan in February." - Matthew Meltzer

Excellent Service and Food, but Valet Secret was a Pleasant Surprise! Rating: 5/5 stars I recently dined at CV Gin Joint and had an exceptional experience! The service was top-notch, attentive, and friendly. Our server was knowledgeable and made excellent recommendations. The food was also outstanding, with each dish expertly prepared and presented. I was impressed by the creativity and flavor combinations on the menu. My only suggestion for improvement is that I wish I had known about the reasonable valet service option beforehand. It would have made our arrival and departure even smoother. Overall, I highly recommend CV Gin Joint for its excellent service, delicious food, and convenient valet option (once you know about it!). We can't wait to return!

Brought out of town guests to CW's Gin Joint for Valentines Day. What a perfect choice. The live music, service, cocktails, and food were all excellent. The atmosphere was upbeat but not too loud. We had a great time and will definitely be back. Definitely recommend making reservations ahead of time...

This place was very beautiful and clean. We walked into great live music playing so great we thought it was the original song. Everyone welcomed us with smiles and very cordial until we got seated. The server on our table for some reason was not very nice to me. He was fine with my husband but not to me. (My husband had to ask him if everything was ok.). After that he changed his attitude and things got better. The rest of the staff were extremely pleasant and kind. I ordered the octopus and the olives. They were excellent and the paloma drink was one of the best I had. My husband ordered the cat fish and grits, the flavor was ok and the borders of the fish weren't too bad, but the middle was super hard and I couldn't put the fork through it. Of course they took it off the bill. The shrimp bisque 🤤 the best ever ever, ever. It has little chunks of shrimp in every bite until the end plus 2 langer shrimps. Most try it

From the moment we stepped through the two heavy speakeasy-style French doors, we knew the vibes were going to be something special. The place is absolutely picturesque, and the atmosphere checked every single box. The live entertainment? Honestly, they deserve a signing deal with a major music mogul (not gaslighting)! Moving on, so we showed up naively without a reservation (rookie move), but the security guard, whose name I sadly didn’t catch, was an absolute legend. She suggested we join the waitlist, and after about 20 minutes enjoying some delicious drinks at the bar, our luck really turned. Ebben, who I believe is the manager, was the true hero here! The guy wasted no time squeezing us six girls into the perfect spot (we made friends with two other patrons while we waited turning our party of 4 into 6)! Ebben was upfront and clear with us stating we had about an hour before our table needed to be freed up for a later reservation who had confirmed arrival. No stress, just straightforward and kind. And then there was our waiter, Logan (an attractive human being) with thee best attitude. He knew exactly what to suggest to maximize our short time and curated the perfect bites for us. The shrimp bisque was so flavorful I’m still dreaming about it, and the Rockefeller oysters were so fresh and yummy that I had to order seconds. All in all, the experience was a solid 10/10, but it wouldn’t have been the same without the incredible team behind the scenes and our new faves, Ebben, Logan, and that security guard. They truly went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and ensure we had an epic night. Good karma coming your way! **(Ebben even came outside and took our pictures for us while we waited on our ride service!)

I thought this place might be over-rated based on the reviews. I went early on Saturday evening around 6 pm without a reservation, so had to sit at the bar, which was full. But got lucky because a couple just left and I was able to grab a seat without waiting. The menu is somewhat limited but that is OK if what is on the menu is done well. I can't do shrimp or lobster so that eliminated a good portion of the menu for me. I did the ribeye steak sandwhich with blackened brussel sprouts for the side (small upcharge). Initially, I was thinking it was little on the pricey side, but everything is more expensive these days, especially beef. The sandwhich was very good and the brussel sprouts were good too, so the price was reasonable in the end. Traditional speakeasy feel with cool bar if you are into this type of atmosphere.

My wife and I decided to stop in after visiting the Tampa Theater for a show. We ended up having a couple of drinks and dancing the rest of the night away. Roger the bartender was fantastic and we had a blast with the live music.

Yelp
Imagine a place that loves gin so much that they put it in the name of the place. CW's Gin Joint has been around a few years indeed and remains a popular spot for drinks, food and being seen. The entrance is grand and classy and when they open the doors to let you in, you feel like you go back in time, to a swanky glitzy club in the Prohibition times. Crystal chandeliers, well-dressed servers and bartenders, great entertainment and a bustling crowd. The bar area can be very busy with folks, the lounge area in the center of the space is nothing short of enviable, with plush couches and communal seating areas. I usually get seated on the left side, with the tables. No worries, they are terrific for people watching, one of my favorite activities. The cocktails are stellar. From basic to ones to beverages you've never dreamed of, they can seemingly do it all. ESPECIALLY if it's a gin drink. They have SO many gin varieties and they will educate you on gin and it's nuances if you so desire. See, gins are all differently infused so one may be great in a dry martini while another would be awful. I've also had food at CW's gin joint and it is very good. My favorite menu item is the dessert Il Flotante. No one else makes it and it's heavenly.

Yelp
Every time we visit Tampa, The Gin Joint is our must-stop spot. The atmosphere is unmatched--smooth blues and jazzy tunes set the tone the moment you walk in. The vibe is classy and intimate, and the crowd definitely dresses the part, adding to the speakeasy feel. The cocktails? Next level. Thoughtfully crafted, perfectly balanced, and full of character--just like the place itself. We tried a few different drinks and were blown away by the attention to detail in both the flavor and presentation. On top of all that, the service was impeccable. Friendly, attentive, and clearly passionate about creating a great experience. This place checks every box and then some. Whether you're a local or just in town for a visit, do yourself a favor and make time for The Gin Joint.

Yelp
This hidden spot feels like stepping into the 1920s; super cool vibe with vintage decor and a live band giving old songs a jazzy twist. Drinks were amazing! You can tell the bartenders really know what they're doing. Solid wine list too. Food-wise, the Lobster Mac and Cheese is a must. Local greens salad with honey dressing was my favorite , and the Brussels sprouts hit the spot. The baked Oysters were just okay--probably wouldn't get them again. I would recommend ordering tapas style to try a lot of variety! This spot is worth checking out if you're into specialty cocktails and fun atmosphere!

Yelp
I loved the intimate atmosphere, lighting, the decor... All of it was a great mood for the evening. We went for girls night and had a great time! They had live music and kitchen was open till 12. The staff was friendly and made sure to keep checking back on us. We did make a reservation before beforehand. The food was good. We got the angel eggs appetizer, which was different but it was delicious. I had the octopus and fried artichoke both delicious!

Yelp
The setting for this restaurant and full bar is a prohibition speakeasy/ jukebox joint. The decor is bold and fluid. The staff is attentive, gave great recommendations and timely with their table checks and follow-up. The food and drinks were excellent. Their specialty drinks are gin-based, but they also have a great collection of bourbons, tequilas and vodkas. Plan on staying awhile if you get the 24 oz ribeye. The seafood pasta is a must! The snapper catch of the day was good as well. Get a bread plate, the olive flight and the pork belly as appetizers. Everything comes out perfect except the okra. For dessert, we had the Bananas Foster. They did not fire it tableside, but it was very good.

Yelp
Came in to get Justin's signature drink, the Spoonbill Special and his "brother" Derrick was working and made me a great drink.

Yelp
This is my new favorite place! From the time we walked in until we left it was an amazing experience. Very nice atmosphere and ambiance. There was no live music the day that we went, but it was still a nice vibe. Our server was amazing and attentive! The food was really good! My steak was cooked perfectly and well done. The drinks were on point! I have nothing but great things to say about this spot! I believe the bar is walk up, so I liked that. I thought it by reservation only, but now that I know I can just drop in for a quick drink and bite.

Yelp
Rude security guards! While waiting for my guest to arrive, I sat at a little side table with 2 chairs. Not even 30 seconds of sitting there the security guard, Herb, asked me if I had a reservation. I replied that I didn't and was just waiting for someone and he made a point that the table was reserved with their sign on the table. Mind you this place was close to closing within an hour and a half and there weren't many people around. Most of the people were at the bar and only a few tables with guests eating. Herb, told me I could wait at the bar. I said my guest is lost and coming any minute. He again tried to push me off to the bar and said yea and you can wait for them at the bar, getting a rude tone with me and hovering over me made me feel so uncomfortable. I just was sitting there for about 2 minutes and he could have just been understanding and let me sit! He almost ruined my experience here before even eating. Asked someone I thought could help me get a table but waited and nothing happened for a while. I went to check if a table was available in this empty restaurant and I guess I spoke to the security there that did not want to relay the message. Said something like I could go ask myself because it's not their job to tell the host that was working right in front next to them. Rude security once again. Still trying to eat here... I went out the doors to the host stand to get a table. What a huge ordeal here and I haven't even ordered anything yet! Finally got sat and had dinner. Deviled eggs was the best part here. Dessert was terrible. Drink was soso. Table server was good but so much damage has been done already here to make my experience terrible. Will not be coming back

Yelp
Any time I visit I always have an incredible time. From the food to the cocktails you can tell the staff take time for the best experience possible. I always love that I can just tell the bartenders my taste or preference and they curate a cocktail to match. The live music and feeling you have is very relaxed with a fine dining spin. The fried artichoke was delicious and the cowboy ribeye is to die for with the caper lemon butter sauce.

Yelp
Had another networking event here, first off, Joey our waiter was incredible. He was so knowledgable on the menu, different gins, and knew how to best guide us in our tasting. The inside is super dim and moody, it's a great ambiance for an intimate date night or a small group gathering. I think that's the only thing my group (20+) had trouble with. We were sat in 3 huge lounge tables in the middle and because the party was so big, we had a $375 per table minimum (not sure if we hit that but just so you know!) I would absolutely come back here to 1 try more gins w the gin and tonic flight, and eat more of the bread plate, and try other dishes! We had the ribeye and fries. The flavor was amazing, there were some fatty bits all over but we just ate around that as I'm not a huge fan of the texture. But this was a very high-end experience and it's a place you can treat yourself if you 1) love gin 2) like bougie energy. They also have a lot in front for $15 parking or valet service for $10

Yelp
Really enjoyed our evening here. We had come from a baseball game but they assured us we were dressed ok. Nice people watching. Drinks were fabulous. Decor is outstanding. Service was exceptional even though they were busy.

Yelp
The vibe upon entering the doors gives off a modern-day jazz super club from the bar set-up, interesting decor, and unique drink and menu items. The service was superb, in where our server took the time to explain the menu as well as make very delectable suggestions such as the crispy fried with aioli and the assorted angeled eggs for starters. For an entree, I decided to go with the house-made seafood pasta - served with shrimp, handmade pasta, saffron cream, and spicy crispy shallots was beyond delicious. The live music and amazing singers added to an enjoyable ambiance while enjoying our dinner. Hands down, I rate my experience 10/10 and can't wait to return.

Yelp
Been to the gin joint a few times & usually just sit at the bar and have some great drinks. I had a cousin visit from out of town & decided to take her to Gin Joint. We were luckily able to get a table once we got there which was nice because we had trouble booking a table online since it said reservations weren't available, which I thought was odd since it was a Wednesday night. First time having dinner here and though this spot as expected is on the high end/pricey side, was totally worth the cost. The professional and classy service, the beautiful old school Great Gatsby type of ambiance, and the quality of the food and drinks were all just top tier. My sisters, cousin, & I truly enjoyed. I look forward to going back. FYI Friday and weekend nights it can get crowded and may be different requirements to enter as well as dress code.

Yelp
Since attending a birthday dinner at Gin Joint last year, I always wanted to go again but could never find a reservation. Last night, my friend and I decided to go and sit at the bar. Although there's a parking garage across the street, we used the valet service for $10. The restaurant was busy for a Thursday but we managed to sit. They had live music with 2 amazing singers. The bartender, Justin, was awesome and made my 2 drinks to perfection. We didn't have dinner, just appetizers, and both the Truffle purple potatoes and the eggplant fries were delicious. We had such a great time with good music, delicious drinks and appetizers, and excellent crowds. I can't wait to go back.

Yelp
CW Gin Joint is hands down one of my favorite spots in Tampa. It's like stepping into a secret club where the drinks are as smooth as the vibes. I always go in with a plan--"I'll just order one drink"--and leave wondering how I'm on cocktail number three. Blame it on Roger. If Roger's behind the bar, do yourself a favor and ask for anything with Uncle Nearest. I don't know what magic he works, but it's always exactly what I need. And if you're a fan of a Clover Club like me, they nail it every single time--perfectly frothy and dangerously delicious. The ambiance? Dim and chill, but never dull. It's the kind of place that whispers "Stay awhile" while Koya's smooth tunes pull you in even deeper. Her and her husband's live performances? Pure gold. I swear, the drinks taste better when they're on stage. CW Gin Joint is classy without being pretentious, fun without being rowdy--basically, the perfect vibe for when you want to feel fancy and a little tipsy. Go see Roger, sip a Clover Club, and enjoy the music.

Yelp
Gorgeous venue (although some of the artwork on the wall was a little unsettling). Unsurprisingly, the gin cocktails were outstanding. Their gin matrix was really helpful--not only for the dining experience, but for making selections for gin anywhere else as well. The food was tasty and presented beautifully, and the service was attentive and friendly!

Yelp
What a gem of a place!! Great ambiance with a roaring 20's feel, and the service was amazing. Jennifer really knew her stuff and we'll be asking for her personally next time we come which we hope to be soon. The food was ok, but overall lacked salt/seasoning. The drinks were amazing!!!
google avatar

Yelp
Never a bad time when I come here, but last night was just ::chef's kiss:: I had the pleasure of Logan and Nemma taking care of us! The food and ambience was AMAZING! We also had Chef Lola come to our table and see how our night, food, and service was doing! A+ Gin Joint! You're always on the roster!

Yelp
Gin Joint is fantastic! It's the perfect place to go for a night out with a variety of drinks, foods, and desserts to choose from! I would advise you to make a reservation because it does get very busy. On certain days, they have live music and it is such a good time! Everyone was dancing and enjoying themselves! I will say, it's important to plan ahead for parking because Downtown Tampa's parking does require some waking and it does get a little busy inside. Reserving a table helps to ensure that you will have a table and space for you and your party. The service has always been wonderful! The waitstaff is knowledge about the menu and able to provide suggestions. My favorite menu items are the Purple Rain (Vodka, Blueberry, Lemon) and the Coconut Crème Brûlée. The last time we went, our lovely server recommended a delicious drink that I cannot recall the name of (picture attached to this review). It was so sweet and refreshing! Perfect for what I want in my drink! I hope you have a chance to enjoy this treasure if you find yourself in Downtown Tampa! Overall, The Gin Joint is always a wonderful and fun experience! Happy Eating!!

Yelp
Tricky review because the drinks and service were easily five stars plus! However, the food was a two at best. For appetizers we had the eggplant fries and short ribs, neither wowed us. I did enjoy my greens of salad, but my husband thought it was overly saturated with the dressing. I agree, it could've been less wet. I had the mahi special and it was low in flavor all around. He had the seafood pasta and it was also lacking in flavor. Our friends had the soup as well as the Cuban sandwich and both said they were fine, but nothing over the moon. Tropical banana fosters was good easily a four out of five . Coconut crème brûlée was also really good, probably also a five. I would definitely go here if you just want a great place to have a drink or a drink and a dessert. I wouldn't recommend going here for a meal. I will speak to the drinks again, they were fabulous, perfectly mixed, really top shelf, and well done.
google avatar

Yelp
If you're looking for a unique place that is amazing all around, you need to check out Gin Joint. Every time I've gone, I've had an incredible experience. The food, the drinks, the service, has always been top notch. I love going when the live jazz band is playing because it feels like I'm being transported to another era and another city- it's truly a great vibe. I always ask the waiters or bartenders for recommendations on food and drinks and have never been disappointed with any of the suggestions or anything I've ordered, so make sure you swing by and check them out. You won't be disappointed either!

Yelp
Delicious food and great service. Amazing environment, there was a live piano player during our dinner who was wonderful. Great bar and cocktails. The short rib dish was amazing. What a beautiful dining room with chandeliers everywhere. Definitely make a reservation for dinner. We went for dinner before going to a show at the Straz, it's close enough to walk to.

Yelp
It's been 2 years since our last visit to CW Gin Joint, brought some friends because we've been raving about it. Drinks were made well, strong mostly fast too! Appetizers were phenomenal just as we remembered them to be. Charcuterie board, artesian bread board and pork belly was a hit! When our entrees came out, we were disappointed due to the size of the plates being much smaller than we remembered. Also unfortunately had to send the pork chop back because it just wasn't worth the price.
google avatar

Yelp
Great spot for date night! Recommend making a reservation on weekends during live music!
google avatar

Heather D.

Yelp
Again...I ask myself...why haven't I been going here on a regular basis? Such a cute spot for cocktails, a date, a special occasion, or a girl's night. We went last Saturday and had a blast! The cocktails were AMAZING. We came after dinner, so we didn't try any food, but everything looked delicious. The service was impressive, and the decor was like the roaring 20's meets 2024. There was also a live band doing covers of familiar songs from different genres. People were out there dancing and really just having a wonderful time. We will definitely be back! CW's Gin Joint is truly delightful in every way.

Yelp
What a cool place! Amazing service from Isabella at the bar. I had the pork chop and tasted my friend's rib eye. Another friend had the catch of the day. All were amazing. Good wine list, bleu cheese olives, and tasty Caesar salad. Isabella was lovely enough to let us try a couple tastings of gin and wine to determine which we wanted. Definitely worth trying especially if you're staying in Downtown Tampa!

Yelp
I came here with a few ladies for a Valentine's Day gathering. First and foremost the inside of this restaurant bar is beautiful it gives a very dark, artistic ambience. We had a few appetizers which included Portobello fries, artichoke hearts, fried okra, and a charcuterie board. I recommend getting the artichoke hearts and the board. Those were our favorite appetizers of the table. The endive salad is good however make sure you are an endive fan as it can be an acquired taste. The drinks were phenomenal. I had the Paloma, and it was very good and tasty. The shrimp and scallop pasta was good. However, the scallops were a little small, so keep that in mind when ordering. The braised short ribs over a bed of mashed potatoes were very good. I recommend that one. Overall, this place is a nice restaurant and very pretty inside. The food is OK and the drinks are great.

Yelp
Great vibe. Speakeasy. Very good selection of liquor. Highly recommend if you are downtown Tampa.

Yelp
Just adding more pics from a Saturday evening at 930pm, it was crowded. Again, call for reservations, otherwise it's standing behind bar only

Yelp
Whoever decorated this place should win an award. It is hands down one of the most stunningly gorgeous restaurants ive been too. The food was 50/50, spending 200 dollars on a dinner for 2 you should be eating a filet properly cooked for starters. The asparagus beneath the steak should not be akin to the consistency of canned asparagus. For 200 dollars a couple you can EASILY eat at Meat Market, Berns, Capital Grille etc. Its not worth spending the same money to sit in a pretty place with subpar food. The front door bouncers are kind of odd, while waiting for my wife to come in from the valet i needed to use the restroom which I was told i needed to leave my wallet at the front door to make sure i dont buy a drink instead of using the restroom. Why does it matter if i have a reservation and why take someones wallet as insurance. Very low class and uncalled for. 10/10 ambiance and thats what youre paying for. On Swann and Meat Market treat you with class and the food and ambiance are on par.
google avatar

Briona Q.

Yelp
Love the ambiance here, especially when there's live music! Have visited a few times and highly recommend the short rib & Lemon Sherry Chicken! A lot of gin at the bar (obviously) and a few other options if you aren't a gin drinker.

Yelp
Hidden gem! We date night here a lot. Youve got to be willing to sit at the bar because reservations are booked months in advance! Amazing ambiance

Yelp
We have been to the gin joint several times and sat at various tables. We've also gone as a group and sat behind the piano by the couch area. The speak easy vibe is excellent, and I love the entrance and how exclusive it feels. The drinks are delightful! If you don't know what to get, just ask the waitress or bartender and they can make you something not on the menu! I remember asking for lavender and them pointing me in the right direction, and even making off menu concoctions. For food, we enjoy the oysters and appetizers. I'm often left less impressed with the main courses, but overall would highly recommend this excellent establishment with great service!

Yelp
A perfect opportunity to visit this outstanding Tampa restaurant to celebrate a bachelorette party for a friend, and the Gin Joint did not disappoint. We opted for valet parking. As you enter the restaurant and you're greeted at the entrance, it becomes very clear that customer service is a priority. The best bar vibe, a slick retro setting and live R & B band rocked the house. Our server Logan was impressive! A beautiful night and perfect venue choice. This spot is very lively and I cannot wait to revisit.

Yelp
My favorite spot to dine and consume libations before a straz, tampa theatre or Amalie arena event. Best cocktail menu in tampa. I have a few favorites. My top 3 "what season is it" sweet with and frothy with egg whites. The classic old fashioned and french 75 are great here too. Food: I highly recommend the shrimp bisque. With sherry and topped with big pieces of shrimp. The charcuterie is also a favorite. Good selection of Cheeses, meats, nuts and honey. I recommend street parking or parking at a nearby parking garage. Service was excellent, very knowledgeable of the menu.

Yelp
Gin Joint is the perfect place for a special occasion dinner. When you walk in you're transported into a prohibition era-style restaurant: dark, with chic art on the walls, 70s style live music, and a big bar selection. Our server, Maria, was friendly and even remembered my girlfriend and her parents from last time and we had been there. She always checked on us right when we needed and seemed to know exactly what drinks we would want based on how we described what we were in the mood for. To start, we got all three types of oysters. My favorites were the raw and grilled, with Rockefeller style oysters as my third choice. We also got the fried okra and eggplant fries, both of which were excellent. We tried some of the cocktails and all of them were great! For entrees, I shared the bolognese pasta with my gf and it was delicious. The highlight of the entrees was the grouper that was a special that night, we got to try it from one of the other people with us who ordered it. We enjoyed the live music and it was a perfect volume, allowing us to enjoy the music but still talk without yelling to each other. Overall, Gin Joint was a 10/10 experience. It will stay at the top of my list of restaurants in Tampa!

Yelp
Where to be-gin Boy am I a sucker for great food and even better cocktails....especially when they're gin-based. Hung out in Tampa the other day and before heading out and I grabbed some drinks and snacks here. It's been on the radar for a while but we drove past and like a little school girl I shouted we needed to stop! The atmosphere is top-notch. Laid-back sophistication with a jazzy vibe that's totally swoon-worthy. We sat at the bar since we didn't plan on doing a full dinner and the bartender was incredible. He chatted with us about gin and what we liked, he made me a few libations with gins I haven't had before and now can't wait to have again. I wish we had more of an appetite because the food blew me away. We munched on some apps and I got myself some raw oysters...because how do you pass those up!? The Angeled Eggs were oddly exceptional. Not that I expected them to be bad, but I don't think it's often that you can say your deviled eggs were part of an elevated dining experience. We also got the olive board and it didn't disappoint. Sometimes, even at the nicest spots, charcuterie, and olive boards can be lackluster. These were pretty damn good and their bread was surprisingly top-level. There was nothing that fell short throughout the experience. It was honestly one of the best places we've been to food, service, and ambiance-wise in a long time. 10 thumbs up I'm already stoked to plan another date night out there to get the full dining experience. But for now I'll be dreaming of gin and tonics

Yelp
Another fun night here. Our server was Kai and he was friendly and nice. There was a different singer and her voice was too low to actually hear her, but other than that everything was great as usual.

Yelp
CW Gin is the place if you want a jazzy, live music vibe! During the weekend, the live music starts with the piano at 6pm and the band starts at 8pm to midnight. Definitely NYC vibes for sure. I highly recommend making a reservation, especially if you want to eat there. I always like taking my visitors here. Never disappoint and always a great time!

Yelp
Gin Joint is a very intimate, niche restaurant offering gin-based cocktails, small plates & frequent live jazz. The menu is very thoughtfully crafted with a load of mouthwatering dishes that you will not find anywhere else. The shrimp bisque is to die for.

Yelp
I was recommended by a few people to come here for a solo date night. I got here around 9:30p and parking was a bit of a struggle. I did not make reservations since I was dining alone so I made my way to the bar. The bar area was definitely full so I had to stand for a bit until a seat opened up. Luckily, one of the bartenders let me know someone was leaving so I sat within 5-10 minutes after arriving. Once I sat, I was truly able to enjoy my 'Peaches Be Crazy' cocktail. I hadn't eaten yet and was hoping to grab a bite while here but unfortunately, it seems like food can't be ordered while sitting at the bar. I had a few more cocktails, listened to the jazz band, spoke to some locals and out-of-towners, and truly enjoyed my time here. Next time, I will have to make reservations to sit at a table so I can enjoy some grub!

Yelp
We came here for a team dinner as one of us is local to Tampa. I'm not a gin drinker so I wasn't sure what drinks I would find to my liking. Never fear! They had a whole slew of cocktails to choose. I had the Misty Sunset (rum and tropical juices) posted here and another rum cocktail with passion fruit puree in it that the bartender crafted for me (no name). Coworkers loved the espresso martini, white chocolate martini and various gin cocktails. I highly recommend the apps: portobello fries, eggplant fries and fried artichokes. The table loved the fried okra too. Two of us got the grilled octopus and I will say, it was the most tender octopus I've ever had! A must have!! Sides are a la carte so if you need something to go with it, I rec the brussel sprouts. Delish! They had a band which took the noise level up a notch so be prepared to strain your voice to talk with your friends across the table.

Yelp
Gin Joint is a hip and happening spot to hang out, get a drink and enjoy a late night dinner. My wife and I made a reservation for 9:30pm here on Friday night. Our date night started at the Tampa Theatre for a showing of Hocus Pocus. Gin Joint is less than 2 minutes walking distance away. We walked in a few minutes early but were welcomed and seated immediately. Walking in the doors, you first hit a foyer or waiting room. A few seats and a well-dressed man attending the main doors. Gin Joint has a certain vibe to it. It's like a speakeasy without the secrecy or special codes. You do need to book a reservation though. I scheduled this dinner about 2 weeks ahead of time and was lucky to get 9:30pm. It's limited dining for sure. We were brought to our lounge table. It was complete with three velvety arm chairs and a loveseat. They were very comfortable. One downside was how close we were to the "dancing area" and the bar. People routinely used our table to dump their empty glasses or even spilled on the chairs. Our server was around quick. She was super nice and attentive. She got us started on drinks. She was laid back and really good at hearing because it was loud in here. My wife ordered a mocktail and I ordered the C.W. Old Fashion. The bar was super busy and that's where the majority of people were. Our drinks took a little while but it wasn't too bad. My Old Fashion was made with Michter's US-1 Rye and a house-made barrel-aged simple syrup. This was sweet, oaky, slightly spicy, and smooth. It was a fantastic Old Fashion and I was exceptionally happy with it. My wife's mocktail was also pretty good. Sweet and in a fancy glass. I texted a buddy later on and dare I say, i preferred this Old Fashion to the Berns one. My wife and I started with the Angeled Eggs. Deviled Eggs but much fancier. Three of them for $9. We split these and each had a half. Beautifully plated and presented with varying colors and toppings. Unfortunately, I don't remember specifically what each one was. I can tell you that they were all cooked perfectly and the creamy yolks in the center all had a different flavor profile. The first one was spicy. The middle one was the Mediterranean. It had a pita cracker on top. The whipped yolk had bacon in it. It was smoky and by far my favorite on the plate. The final one was sweet. The whipped yolk was grey/purple and it was topped with dried apricot. We enjoyed this simple, tasty dish. For dinner, my wife ordered the short ribs and I ordered the Sherry Lemon Chicken. The food didn't take too long. The sherry lemon chicken was ample and had a lot going on. The roasted chicken breast was perfectly cooked with a savory skin on it. The sauteed heirloom carrots stood out, soft and sweet. The sauce that doused this meal wasn't as flavorful as I was expecting but it was good. Going off the name, I expected to taste more notes of the sherry, subtle fruit or nut. It wasn't overly lemony either. The Carolina golden rice with leeks was cooked well and complemented the chicken. I enjoyed this meal but wouldn't order again. My wife's short ribs consisted of tender, falling-apart meat in a savory sauce that went perfectly over the mashed potatoes. The sauteed mushrooms were bursting with flavor and the crispy bacon gave a layer of crunch that balanced the tenderness of the meat and mashed potatoes. Rich in flavor and top-notch for a short ribs dish. CW's Gin Joint is an experience. The ambiance is both laid back and refined at the same time. They offer up tasty drinks and a lively atmosphere where you can drink and dine with the finer things. Excellent service paired with thoughtful and well-executed fare is a recipe for success. We will be back to the Gin Joint.

Yelp
Pretty cool "speakeasy" vibe. The pork chop was unbelievable- drinks were pretty solid.

Yelp
Okay, it's date night and some friends tried this place before us and said we had to go. So, we are always up for good food and drinks. We walked up to the building and there are well dressed doormen who open the door for you. As you walk through a short hall to the main entrance you begin to see the transformation. It's like being in a classy jazz club, combined with a bold art studio, flashy chandlers, bar off to the side that calls you to come sit for a while and enjoy a combination of mixtures that make a mouth pleasing drink by one of the mixologists there. Our bar tender was Justin, Justin you are awesome. When you go if Justin is there ask him to make you his wonder dessert drink. Mmmm. Our meal had sooo much flavor, I thought I wouldn't finish it. However, I did, my taste buds would not allow me to leave any of it for left overs. Yep, put Gin Joint on your list of places to go. In a matter of fact move them to the top of the list. Lol. No really good!

Yelp
Food was good! However it was someone's birthday and they did not offer a dessert nor did they sing Happy Birthday! Ambiance and food were great!

Yelp
So this was my first time visiting CW Gin Joint for dinner and let me tell you I'm even more impressed because this place isn't just a Speakeasy Bar but definitely a 5-star restaurant as well! Every dish we tried was mouthwatering. We started with the charcuterie board and it was a perfect sharing appetizer! We ordered the Bolognese and Short Ribs as the main meal and the short ribs were so tender and flavorful! Just amazing I would definitely come back just for the short ribs! The Bolognese was hearty and filling and the fresh pasta was to die for! We ended our meal with the Tropical Bananas Foster and let me tell you I generally go for decadent chocolate desserts but I was so happy we got this one because it was probably one of the best Bananas Foster I ever had! The coconut and macadamia nuts were the perfect crunchy addition! Loved that we came on a Thursday evening with no reservations and they were able to accommodate us super quick! Amazing service and atmosphere. Will definitely be back not just for drinks but dinner too!

Yelp
Got violently ill after eating their raw oysters, came out both ends for 2 days, with fever. I would avoid this place.
