D E Thai Kitchen expands from the Arts District to Las Vegas Boulevard - Eater Vegas

"Chef and owner Jompon Chotikamars launched his menu of Bangkok street food in the Arts District back in spring 2018 and has now debuted a second, easier-to-find location, less than a mile from the Las Vegas South Premium Outlets. Open for dine-in, takeout, and delivery, D E Thai Kitchen is serving daily at the Desert Diamond Plaza retail center, replacing the Galanga Thai Eatery at the intersection of Windmill Lane and Las Vegas Boulevard. Despite a compact space, diners can order from a lengthy roster of dishes, including popular favorites imported from the original downtown restaurant. Among the appetizers, Bangkok street food sausages, chicken satay, Crying Tiger steak with a dip sauce, and marinated and grilled Thai pork. Traditional favorites of tom yum and tom kha soups are joined by red, green, yellow, and panang curries, plus house specials of crispy pork and Chinese broccoli, egg noodle prepared in Northern Thai curry, soft shell crab, seafood pink noodle soup, lobster fried rice, sweet chili sauce tilapia, and desserts including coconut ice cream served with roti pancakes." - Bradley Martin

Google
Cute place. Arts district. 24 seating. Very nice place. Food is very tasty. Somewhat small portions for price but it’s a Thai restaurant so I’m not surprised. We had Ka Na Moo Grob, fresh spring roll tofu, pad Thai (to compare), calamari, and mango sticky rice (also to compare). All very good. Will be back to try other dishes

The food was great! The tofu was SO SO good, fried perfectly crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. It also tasted very good. I enjoyed the thai tea / lemonade. Our server was very nice as well :)

Google
Service was great, Clean restrooms located in downtown Vegas. Worth the Uber or Lyft ride off the strip for food. the number 10 spice was not too spicy, even my kids enjoyed the spice! The family enjoyed our Thai iced tea, take it to go if needed!

Google
Excellent food, fast service, hole in the wall gem with decent prices off strip. Will be back next time for sure. Arts district IIs NOT glitzy, but day time felt safe and easy to get to.

I live on the east coast, so while I have Thai food available, I think the ingredients are harder to come by out here. DE Thai was an incredible meal and some of the best Thai food of my life. The restaurant is small, so going at a less traveled hour is advised. I went midafternoon and was seated immediately. There are about 6-8 tables, with maybe 2-4 able to accomodate more than two people. I believe the proprietor was our server. And while she was busy multitasking she was attentive, friendly, and patient. Our appetizer came out quickly. The food was incredibly fresh and piping hot. I’m a vegetarian and prefer to not eat egg (adding the word vegan here in case it’s helpful for someone). I ordered drunken noodle with tofu and my partner ordered basil fried rice with tofu. The tofu was cooked perfectly; they accommodated my no egg request without question. The noodles appeared thinner and lighter than what I am accustomed to, but they were the right level of chew while still somehow being delightfully delicate. The fried rice was delicious. The spice level is 1-10 there, I ordered at a 4 because I usually get a 3 on a 1-5 scale on the east cost but figured I’d play it safe. Glad I did. Also this food was insanely affordable. It is hard to eat well on vacation in very tourist ridden destinations for vegetarians but Vegas does have a lot to offer if you know where to look. Thanks internet strangers for rating this place so highly. I was so pleased with my meal.

Google
A great Choice in the Arts district in the heart of Las Vegas. Staff was friendly and offered water as I waited for my too go order . I ordered the tiger steak and chicken pad thai noodles. They don’t use the flat noodles I’m more accustomed to. But overall delicious.

Google
The Thai Basil rice, and sweet fried chicken was incredible. VERY authentic taste. I will come again soon.

Yelp
The food is so great and make me feel like I'm in Bangkok ! I had Tom Yum noodle , Boat Noodle & Glass noodle shrimp salad! All 3 are delicious and taste is just the way I had in Thai ! Service is great as well ! They all are from Thailand and no wonder food taste authentic! Place is jux 3 bus stops away from Fremont Street Experience. So if you're in that area and crave Asian food, please come and eat here

Yelp
Good street thai food. Casual atmosphere in a small cozy facility. Cooking and operations are well Managed by a thai family. Food is catered to a somewhat mainstream audience. The drunken noodle had good consistency and bounciness. It was somewhat more sweet than other thai restaurants that I tried but was still good. Still had a good savory flavor consistent with other thai restaurants. The veggies were tender but had some texture. Other thai restaurants have beef innards included with The beef boat noodles. This one did not and is thereby catered to a mainstream audience. It was still delicious. The soup was savory. The rice noodles had good consistency. The veggies and the beef was tender and flavorful. Service was friendly and helpful.

Yelp
The location is in the iconic Art District. It's a small quaint restaurant. The decor is deco with the area. The service is super friendly and the waitress is very very attentive. The food is fresh and OUTSTANDING. We have tried many Thai Food locations and this one is up there with the food quality. The coconut shrimp did not have a frozen flavor nor did we find it fishy. If you like Thai Food or love fresh Thai food stop by and give them a try. Their menu is small but I'm sure if they grow it will grow along with it. But everything on the menu seems to be right along with the way you do Thai food.

Yelp
Finally a Thai restaurant that serves Thai cuisine vs Westernized/localized taste. Thai spicy! So from a range of 1-10, 3 is Western mild/medium which is good for me who enjoys mild (Spicy 1 is nothing). This place has inspired my appetite for Thai food again!! Con is that we were really thirsty after :( So ingredients used aren't as clean as we wished. But the taste is way better than other local places in the Westside area. Small place good for parties of 2-4. There are 4 tables that fit 4, and 2 tables that fit 2ppl. Don't get it confused wity Bangkok Street Food in DTLV. When I yelp, I accidentally searched that company vs DE Thai Restaurant. We walked over from Bangalow Coffee Shop. The Thai items offered are generally popular favorites. Exception regional specific food: Northern Thai's $17 Kao Soi, and Southern Thai's $17 Kua Gling, and $24 Ka Nom Jeen Nam Ya Pu. No tap/house water. When you order water, it'll be an order bottle water. - $12 Papaya Salad. - $16 Pad Kee Mao (Drunken Noodles) with crispy pork. Other proteins are lower in price, except seafood at $18. The noodles surprisingly was really good, egg pan fried. But the sliced mushrooms was a weird surprise haha - $19 Spicy Catfish. Texture was good. Slightly fishy but expected for catfish. - $3 per bowl of Jasmine rice. - $4 coconut water. Not fresh version. Just the generic brand vita coco. - $5 Palm Juice bottle. I normally would pick Kao Soi and/or Catfish dishes. Interested in trying next time: - $17 Kao Soi - A spicy basil plate - Larb - $24 Ka Nom Jeen Nam Ya Pu - $20 Beef Waterfall - $20 Crying Tiger - sausage, crab fried rice .....etc, ahhh too many items Id love to try.

Yelp
The food here is great, but they lie to you just to make a sale! They will not give you a cup of water for free when you are dining-in, and only offer you a bottle of water for $2+. I previously went to the DE Thai Kitchen #2 on Windmill and they had told me something was wrong with their tap water and it smells like strong chlorine so they could only offer me a bottled water. I came to the Downtown location and same thing! Something was wrong with the tap water and I could only buy a bottle of water. Something doesn't add up when that's an issue at two different locations clear across town. I'd rather not be lied to, and if something is actually wrong with the tap water, I sure hope they are cooking and making other drinks using bottled water too. Despite this annoying thing, the boat noodles served here is one of the best in town. The broth is rich and they put quite a bit of meat in it. I'll prob only come back here just for this dish, and order to-go. The panang curry was quite good as well, but the pad Thai was just average and was a bit mushy and sour. The Thai iced tea was not good, pretty watery, but maybe it was because of the chlorine? The downtown location has a small parking lot behind the restaurant, but it could fill up easily and you might need to look into other downtown options. The restaurant is small but clean, with maybe 5 tables or so for dine in.

Yelp
Really nice Thai food (street foods style) in Las Vegas Downtown area, that easy to find free parking around here or if you wanna park near by you can pay for parking too. Foods are amazing and service is nice and friendly here. Servers will recommend you about what to eat and which one you should try or you might like it. They do have table indoor and outdoor now.

Yelp
We continue to come here and enjoy the food. We also love we can bring out pup. Our favorite thing on the menu is the Panang curry and crispy pork. Best Thai in downtown Las Vegas.
google avatar

Heather W.

Yelp
Food never lacks flavor. We love the green curry, spring rolls, and basil fried rice. Our go-to for Thai takeout. Service is always tops.

Yelp
Always amazing customer service and tasty, fresh food! The restaurant is small, but always packed which is a good sign.. I order online & walk over from where I work downtown and they always have everything ready when I get there. If you can catch it available, don't skip out on the Mango & Sticky Rice! The best I've ever had. Do note that their levels of spiciness run on the high side, so if you have sensitivity to heat.. think about ordering the lowest number :)

Yelp
2/10, I really don't get why this place has so much good reviews. Food is literally SO bad. I know what authentic thai food is since I've been to Thailand more than a handful of times, and this is far from authentic and FAR from good thai-American fusion. Everything just tastes off. Pad Thai 0/10 - this is a very difficult dish to mess up, I dont know how they did it. Its literally noodles cooked in thamrin sauce and?? they got the wrong noodles, the pork doesnt absorb the flavors, the noodles are not chewy.. Pad Prik King 6.5/10 - arguably the best dish here although not that good either. Tom Yum 4/10 - Really salty / sour for no reason?? Good portion for $14. It just tastes bad. Since everything tastes bad to mid, we asked for condiments and the waitress straight up gave us a bad attitude. We had to ask a couple of times and when she eventually gave it to us she slammed it to our table. Unacceptable behavior.

Yelp
We found out about this place online and wanted to get take out exactly what we saw which was lobster fried rice and chicken pad Thai. Unfortunately lobster fried rice is no longer on the menu but the pad Thai was so amazing that we can't wait to get it again!
google avatar

Yelp
Small hole in the wall type spot, foods are delicious, portions are a bit small though. We had Thai basil chicken with rice, Thai pork fried rice and Service is friendly. If I am in the area and feeling like to have Asian, I will go back there.

Yelp
Top 5 BEST Thai I've ever had! The coconut shrimp appetizer was amazing, fresh, crispy and delicious! I had the Spicy Basil Chicken and a Thai tea, So so delicious!!!!!!!! Hubby had Orange Chicken and he loved it. The service and prices were great as well! Will definitely be back!

Yelp
I was on my way out of the photo studio next door and had always saw this little Thai restaurant but never stopped in. I decided that was going to change today. When I entered, there were a couple tables to my left and to my right. There was a couple eating at one of them and their food looked delicious. I asked the friendly woman at the register what was really popular. She told me the fried rice, but I asked her which fried rice she preferred. She told me the Tom Yum, so I ordered that. My order took about 5-10 minutes to be ready. It was piping hot. I couldn't wait until I got home to eat it, so I busted it open in the car while my husband drove. OMG. You wanna talk flavor? This was the Flavor-Flave of Tom Yum fried rice. Every bite was like a mini explosion of YUM in my mouth. I liked that they used red onions instead of regular onions. That makes a huge difference in flavor for me. It came with 3 slices of cucumber and a juicy slice of lime. (I say this because I hate going somewhere and their limes are dried up!) Even my husband, who is a picky eater and doesn't eat Thai food said it smelled good. Would I go back? Absolutely. Best Tom Yum fried rice I've had to-date!

Yelp
This place has such authentic flavors! Love the pad kee mao (drunken noodles). I get it GF with the pad Thai noodles. Be careful when ordering your spice level bc they are a true Thai spice level!
google avatar

Devin R.

Yelp
This place is a hole in the wall and some of the best Thai food that I've ever had! We had the Khao Soi with shrimp, Pad Kee Mao with beef, and the Soft shell crab. Everything was extremely flavorful and cooked to perfection. Definitely worth leaving the Strip for this place!
google avatar

Yelp
Small nice Thai food. Fresh ingredients and nice people . I will be back for more authentic food

Yelp
This is a very cute tiny hidden gem. There is about 6 tables inside and a 2 outside. During the time we were there I saw plenty of people getting take out. This place is super yummy. Excellent quality of food. We tried the fried tofu, pad see eiw ,tom kha soup, jasmine rice, and the ginger garlic plate. We enjoyed every bit of it. Its a great place to eat before heading over to downtown Fremont experience. The girl who served us, was multi tasking. She served the tables, cleaned and took phone orders. Not sure if she was the owner, but she was working hard, and maintained her friendliness. I definitely look forward to going back.

Yelp
1000/10 one of my favorite Thai places I go here at least once a month need to come more Thai tea fire pad Thai, green curry, Kao Soi, orange chicken super delicious need to try more stuff out great service
google avatar

Yelp
I used to say that I didn't like Thai food. Since moving to Las Vegas, I've been eating it more and more. And with this place, dare I say I now like Thai food? This hidden gem is in the Arts District, so it's not in the "touristy" part of town. It's a cozy spot, with seating for about 20 people and they don't take reservations. But that's what so great about this local spot! Great and attentive customer service, both for those of us dining in and those we observed ordering take-out. Plentiful, yet straightforward menu. The vegetable green curry was served piping hot, great seasoning, variety of vegetables, and brown rice that wasn't dry and unsavory. But be forewarned, these spice levels are no joke! I ordered mine a 5: I managed to eat most of it, but I had enough water to drink to fill Lake Mead! I'll probably go lower the next time...and there WILL be a next time!
google avatar

Carlos L.

Yelp
My favorite restaurant. I love the Kao Soi yellow curry. Service was great but they didn't have water the last time i went so we had to buy bottles water that was very expensive. (this has only happened once, hopefully never again.) Ambiance was great.
google avatar

Maya S.

Yelp
This is truly exceptional Thai food in an unassuming little restaurant. Incredible flavors in every dish and some special dishes that I don't see at every Thai restaurant. Great service as well. We went back two days in a row because it was so good!!
google avatar

Jodie O.

Yelp
Everything about this place is amazing! Everyone was so nice. The food was delicious! They can make a lot of dishes vegan! On their website they clearly give a vegan option for the dishes they can be made vegan! I got their vegan tofu pad Thai and pad kee mow both were so yummy! Highly recommend

Yelp
Stopped by for a quick lunch yesterday and I was so glad we did! We enjoyed a lobster fried rice, kao soi and a couple of other dishes. I was so excited for the kao soi and it did not disappoint. The texture of the noodles was perfect, the bowl was a great size, chicken was tender and the soupy sauce was SO good. Can't wait to bring my husband here to try it too. Kao soi has been one of our favorites since we fell in love with it in Thailand! I'm a bit of a fried rice snob but the lobster fried rice did not disappoint. It wasn't mushy and had the right texture. Lobster was a great touch and there was a ton of it. The pricing of it was also so reasonable. I'm always looking for new spots in DTLV and this will be one that I come back to! There are only a few tables inside but we had no problem getting one! I'd recommend calling ahead or getting take out too if you're concerned. Overall, great experience and will be back again soon!
google avatar

Yelp
This is probably one of the best Thai restaurants that I've tried recently. It has a good location downtown and an extensive menu of Thai specialties at affordable prices. Perhaps the most striking part for me was that they are very friendly for vegetarians and vegans with vegetables, tofu and fried tofu offered as part of their "meat" options. All entrees are served chock full of vegetables and protein and piping hot. I got the drunken noodles with a spice 1 level, which had good flavor but wasn't super over powering like spice level at other places. I'd be interested to try a 2 level spice. The vegetables were slightly crunchy and the noodles were a bit stuck together but tasty. I would definitely return or order to go from this restaurant again based on my experience.

Yelp
D E Thai is one my favorite places to eat in Vegas. The food always tastes amazing and the service is always friendly and quick. Brought a couple of friends here and they all loved it. The portions are filling and the ambiance of the restaurant is chill and great when enjoying food by yourself or catching up with a couple friends. Will always be back for more :)

Claudine F.

Yelp
We ordered drunken noodles, pineapple fried rice, and spring rolls. Generous serving. The server is nice. Taste is excellent.
google avatar

Jason S.

Yelp
(4.5 stars) If i lived in Vegas, this would be my go to takeout for Thai food hands down. We stopped in for lunch and it was exactly what we needed. So nice to have an extra spicy dish actually be spicy! Loved how much flavor they got into the pad see ew noodles, and would struggle not to order the chicken wings every time.

Orest S.

Yelp
Great service and the best tasting Thai cuisine I've had in the most unexpected of places. Rather eat at this small local establishment in Las Vegas than anywhere on The Strip. Highly recommended.
google avatar

Pilar F.

Yelp
This lil spot is just delicious!!! Had combination thai fried rice and seafood Tom yum soup. Crazy good!!!! Was contemplating getting a second plate of rice but have a dinner to go to. The soup was amazing it had calamari, shrimp ,mussels mushrooms. Just a lil warning I did 5 outta 10 for spicy and that was spicy to me but so damn good!!! And last but not least dessert. Had the mango sticky rice. WOW!!! Not too sweet but just perfect. This place seems a lil hidden to me but if you read this and it sure where to go eat. STOP HERE!!! SO BOMB!!!
google avatar

Julee I.

Yelp
It's a small little place downtown Las Vegas the food taste amazing friendly customer service. See you guys soon when I come back to Vegas.

Kat K.

Yelp
Great little spot for Thai food off the main strip area. We ended up here at an off time, so we didn't have to wait for a table. I got the lobster fried rice and my husband got the Panang curry. Both were delicious with generous portions. Our waitress was very diligent and nice! I'd highly recommend trying this place.

Yelp
D E Thai Kitchen is a great little restaurant that is worth a stop. I was lucky enough to snag a table for a lunch on a Monday. It definitely is pretty small inside with only a few tables but worth still either calling in ahead of time or checking it out if you're in the area if you wanted to eat in. It also looked like they were doing a lot of takeout orders. There is a fun 'hidden' menu on the chalkboard that I hope to try out next time. The cashier/waitress was super nice - we had a great convo about the food and where I came from. I ended up going with cashier recommendation which was the kana moo grob - the crispy pork with stirfry Chinese broccoli. It comes with a side of rice and can choose the spice level. I went for the spicy! The food came out in about 5-10 minutes. It has a bit of broth which I used to dunk my rice in. The pork was crisped perfectly - a nice crunch and well-seasoned. And the spice level was just right for me - had a few moments of tears in my eyes (of happiness) from the added spice. All-in-all, it was a great lunch dish that was filling and tasty for under $20. Loved the hospitality; the great food; and the lovely atmosphere. Hope to try it again in the near future! Cheers D E Thai!

Yelp
Was searching for something and happened to stumble on this gem. Amazing food. Very flavorful. Would highly recommend. A must try.

Yelp
My absolute favorite street Thai food in Vegas! I been here multiple time. Love the location, right at the heart of arts district. Service is always great. Gave me a reason to come back and try new things. It's a fairly small place, but that's how most street food places are. People come in and out. My go to is always kana moo grob. Their crispy pork is to die for!! Love the smokey taste and aroma from the wok on their pad see eiw. I always ran out of room since their portion relatively big. But this time I get to try their mango sticky rice. A perfect balanced dessert if you don't really want something heavy. Mango and sticky rice is so fresh accompanied with a delicious coconut cream on top.
google avatar

Frank L.

Yelp
OMG ! This is my favourite Thai restaurant in vegas now. Go to the downtown location ONLY. Their other location doesn't seem to be the same. Khao Soi compares to Thailand's restaurant in Mae Kampong. Truly a magical find when you can't be in Bkk.
google avatar

Kate R.

Yelp
Delicious pad thai (the thin noodles. Rice I believe). Was staying in the Vegas arts district and went here twice in a weekend. I got pad Thai with fried tofu, yum. spice level 5 and 6 had me sweating. The Thai ice coffee and ice tea were delicious and not too sweet, both helped with the heat of the meal. We also tried kuagling - very good and has more vegetables on the plate which is awesome. Also the pan and curry. It was great. Really nice service. Not too many tables inside
google avatar

Kirsten F.

Yelp
Go here! We have been coming here for years and I am so happy I discovered this little, tiny, Thai restaurant near the arts District. I will warn you that their spicy is very spicy! I love spicy food and even getting up to about a five or six here is pretty spicy. We usually can do an eight or a 10 at other restaurants, but a 10 here we actually had to add more coconut milk to lessen it. Everything is super delicious and we haven't had a bad meal yet. But just be warned about the spice!

Marissa G.

Yelp
Food at this place is delicious. I'm giving a one star review because I bought the yellow curry with shrimp and extra shrimp (to go). I was counting the pieces of shrimp and I only got 6 pieces of shrimp!! I paid almost $6 dollars for extra shrimps...REALLY? I hate when they do these type of things because you order to go. Service to go I've to say is not good. The ambiance? Well this location is so small that you cannot fit 10 people there but I think this location is more a to go than to dine there.
google avatar

Prescilla A.

Yelp
This place is very small, definitely easy to miss. There's a few spots for parking on the side. We shared 3 things: drunken noodles, kana moo grob, and isan sausage. Our favorite was definitely the Kana Moo for its crispy pork. We will be coming here again and making sure to add the crispy pork to other dishes where the option is listed. The waitress was super attentive. Not for large parties but overall a solid Thai place.
google avatar

Sam S.

Yelp
Had the best curry dish here. It's a small restaurant, but the flavor is huge! This is a must do if you like Thai food.
google avatar

Chai B.

Yelp
Woww yummy..so great..Thai Boat noodle soup..just like home I'm Bangkok...first time here but won't be the last ! Chai Buranamontri

Yelp
Limited seating. I learned that you have to call to make a reservation. If you don't, you might have to wait about 30 mins before being seated. When I went, other people that arrived waaaaay after me were seated first since they had an appt. Easy parking. Amazing food! The best YELLOW CURRY I have ever eaten! I would literally go to LV just for the yellow curry! Service is good.
google avatar

Steve A.

Yelp
Best place in downtown Vegas for Thai food. D E Thai is a very small place. It only has a couple tables. Good for to go orders. They have many choices for vegans and vegetarians. I felt like having something for lunch and this was close. It's one of the few Thai restaurants around here. There's many Chinese but few Thai. Good portions as you get a pretty fair amount. Prices are okay. I had the Thai Yum Salad for a pretty healthy lunch choice. It's $11 and comes with many items. This has cucumbers, tofu, and tomatoes. Has pretty good spice levels. It can be bland without any seasoning. This is a great place for getting vegetables.
google avatar

CATHY M.

Yelp
Consistently great food and service! My favorites are the pork belly, red curry and the seafood dishes. Everything is made cooked to order- still comes out fast. Small and intimate space and one or two outdoor tables. Our favorite Thai place in town! Parking behind the building.

Yelp
This place is small and cozy with only 7 tables but the food is out of this world amazing! The service was excellent and quick. The presentation of the food was beautiful. Pad Thai was the best I've ever had! Drunken noodles were also delicious. We will come back again and again.

Yelp
Ummmm I'm not sure what happened. We were just here 2 weeks ago.. had an amazing lunch. Tonight it felt like we were at a different place. Taste went from 5 to 2 on everything we we ordered. Portions were so small, we were able to share before with leftovers. Tonight barely able too. This place went from being a new fav to prob will not come back. I really don't like making reviews like this, but it's just too much of a decline all around. Pad See Ewe: 2.5/5 : just disappointing. Portion and taste Crying Tiger: 1/5 if I we were in the buisness of sending food back. No flavor, meh Orange Chicken: 2/5 not crispy and lightly sauced, very soft and super orangy not in a good way. The smallllllest portion l. Nothing like the pics. Spicy Catfish: 4/5 I didn't taste but the table said it was really good Egg rolls 4/5 really good.

Yelp
Excellent service from the sweetest waitress. Tried Kao Soi which I've never had but it sounded good. It's like a curry noodle. Really yummy. We always order drunken noodles at every Thai restaurant we try and this place was delicious but we rarely find a Thai we don't like.

Yelp
The Kao Soi was the best Thai dish I have had in Vegas and maybe the best curry dish I have had in the country.
