The 16 Best Restaurants On Capri - Capri - The Infatuation

"You’ll get incredible sunset views at Da Gelsomina, whether you book a table in the large covered outdoor terrace or the inside dining room. Expect traditional dishes like spaghetti alla chiummenzana and ravioli caprese made with tomatoes from the nearby garden. The seafood is great, and so is the pollo al mattone, a chicken dish that’s slow-roasted under a brick. A shuttle runs from the main piazza in Anacapri, otherwise, take the long (but not steep) walk—you can make a pitstop at Philosophical Park, which sits at the end of the road just past the restaurant." - gillian mcguire

We had a fabulous meal at this secluded restaurant on the south of the island. They provide a shuttle service from the centre of anacapri so getting there is not an issue. It boasts fantastic views of the sunset which was truly breathtaking. The service and food was second to none and you can see how they are recommended in the Michelin guide. Unable to rate the rooms as we did not stay there but if the restaurant is anything to go on then they would probably be 5 stars too. Incredible meal.

Amazing dinner spot! We had a lovely view of the sunset while eating dinner. This was by far our favorite restaurant during our stay in Capri! We didn’t stay in the Airbnb but it looked cute from the outside. We were shuttled up to the restaurant, be warned the ride is bumpy but it beats walking by foot! The staff was very attentive and helpful throughout the entire dinner. The view was absolutely stunning and made for great pics. Sad to say I forgot the name of the pasta dish I had but it was an excellent spicy garlicky spaghetti, this was the highlight of our dinner. Definitely don’t miss out of this restaurant, make sure to get a reservation in advance!

A Hidden Gem in Capri – Authentic, Peaceful, and Unforgettable Our experience at Da Gelsomina was one of the unexpected highlights of our trip to Capri. Tucked away in a more authentic and peaceful part of the island, this charming restaurant offers not only delicious food, but also a serene atmosphere far from the usual crowds. The setting is truly special — our table overlooked beautiful vineyards with sweeping views that instantly made us feel connected to the natural beauty of Capri. The staff and Pasquale were incredibly warm and welcoming, and even shared a tip about a nearby secret lookout point. We followed their advice and were rewarded with what was easily the best view on the entire island. If you're looking to escape the tourist-packed areas and enjoy a genuine, tranquil Capri dining experience, Da Gelsomina is a must. We can’t wait to return!

Google
We only came here for dinner The food was delicious, the service was very good and attentive. Complimented with the incredible views the experience was overall really nice. The food was nothing extraordinary but at the same time hit the spot. Plenty of choices, and reasonably priced. The scenery and sunsets incredible. The most exciting part of the experience is the shuttle ride up the hill - it’s like the local version of an amusement park rollercoaster ride.

I went for dinner at Da Gelsomina about an hour before writing this review. First off, the restaurant has a shuttle service for those in Anacapri (which is a very enjoyable place to stay). Once you arrive, you’re greeted by great staff. I was a solo diner so I can’t comment much on the bottles of wine etc, but the glass of local (from the campania region) was great and their homemade liqueurs are a must try. Now, onto the food, the appetizers were great and really well thought out. Very classic dishes (my family is from this region) that are very well made. The escarole polpette were great and the octopus (for those who enjoy it) was fantastic. I had a whole local fish as the main. They can prepare it in several ways and generally have 2-3 types of fish to pick from. The fish was cooked to perfection and was cleaned prior to being served tableside. I didn’t have dessert and opted for the homemade liqueur instead which was fantastic. I went at 9pm so it was dark outside. The view and the sunset must be spectacular from up where the restaurant is, in case this is an important factor. I really recommend this place. Of course, given its rustic feel and very traditional cuisine, you will also be dining with a lot of Italians here on vacation - and this is how you know when a place is good.

We had a dinner with sunset view. Food is great, we found this place thanks to our airbnb host. Definitely worth to visit. Price is fair compared to other Capri restaurants.

Google
We weren't sleeping at the BnB, only there for lunch and that was amazing. Very good food and wine, the service was really friendly, not invadent though. The view from the tables and from the lookout point just a few meters away was absolutely breathtaking. Congratulations to these guys, keep going like that!

Google
Went to the restaurant for dinner. The rabbit was one of the best things I've ever eaten. The rest of the food was also excellent, as was the house wine, which comes from their own small vineyard on site.

Yelp
This restaurant is MUST when visiting Capri! It sits on top of the Island, so the view is absolutely stunning. Our reservation was at 8:00 p.m. and we were able to watch the sun set into the ocean. Logistics: You/your hotel will need to call the restaurant to let them know what time to pick up from the shuttle location (about 10 minutes from the restaurant). If you just show up to the stop, you will be skipped by those who called ahead. After dinner, there may be a lengthy wait, as you will have to wait for the shuttles to bus everyone down the mountain. You can walk, but I don't recommend it at night, as the roads are narrow and there are no street lights. The food was delicious, the service was superb, and the restaurant what shockingly reasonably priced. When you walk into their restaurant, you can see their garden where they grow fresh vegetables and herbs. You could taste the freshness of everything in each course, especially the Caprese salad. I ordered the Calamari (freshly cooked squid, not the fried version - see photo), the linguine with mussels, and tiramisu. I loved every bite of everything. I had 4 friends with me and we all raved about our food and service. For the 5 of us with 2 appetizers, 1 bottle of wine, 2 cocktails, 5 entrees, and 4 desserts, our bill came to €257. We were all shocked.

Yelp
Restaurant boasts a fantastic sunset view, great food, and excellent service. However, the food was sadly not the best we've had in Capri. We started with octopus carpaccio and fresh tomatoes. I love tomatoes, especially fresh and flavorful! Not a super fan of the carpaccio, it was Ok. Followed by a homemade spaghetti (be careful with this as some of the pasta is not homemade!) make sure to ask them for homemade. It makes a world of a difference. This dish was good, but not what I was expecting. Eggplant parm was certainly much better! Followed by the baked fish with almond, which could've been skipped. It was rather bland. However the segafredo, was excellent! Overall, the view is a must-see. The service made the experience enjoyable. But the food is a pass.

Yelp
One of my favorite meals in Italy!! We came for lunch and decided to walk here from Anacapri (~25 minutes). I ordered the lemon risotto and it was so flavorful. After we paid the bill, it started pouring rain so decided to stay for a few more drinks. Cleared up and we waited by the pool for a free ride back to Anacapri center. VIEWS ARE SPECTACULAR and staff is friendly! Prices are well wroth it too for an M-star restaurant! It was nice to get outside the town centers of Capri and Anacapri a bit more since it wasn't as crowded out here - that doesn't mean you don't need a reservation - be sure to make one. Also the octopus and kale salad was AMAZING!

Yelp
Amazing setting atop of Ana Capri, they pick you up from the main square in a little Shuttle as the roads are very narrow. Food and service are both excellent and it's a great atmosphere. The ravioli was really good.- highly recommended

Yelp
Had a wonderful lunch last October at this great restaurant in a stunning location. Perhaps our best meal during a week on the Amalfi coast. It's a bit off the beaten path but well worth the trek. They have a free small shuttle from the town square in Anacapri. Everything was superb. The pastas were exquisite as were the desserts and locally grown and made Casa Rosso. The service and attention to detail was outstanding. We will assuredly return on our next trip to Capri.

Yelp
Gorgeous spot off the beaten path but very popular with those "in the know". Take a taxi to Piazza Vittoiria in Anacapri and the restaurant will send a shuttle car to collect you. Make reservations! The view is breathtaking - try to arrive before sunset to catch the view. The food is fantastic - fresh and delicious. If you only have one dish please make it their signature Ravioli Caprese (It tasted like bites of Italian heaven)

Yelp
The service here was horrible, we spent so long waiting to order. We asked multiple waiters if we could order and they told us they would be there in one minute. An hour later we finally were able to order after asking for the shuttle to leave the restaurant. They were even late to pick us up from the meeting point in Anicapri. The restaurant is a bit of a way away from the city center. We spent a long time with the Restuarant so if you value your time I would def not go here. The view was amazing though. The food was ok, the fish was fishy but the pasta was good and the eggplant parm was pretty tasty. Definitely did not have a good experience here and would definitely not recommend going.

Yelp
Delicious home grown vegetables and fresh seafood served with love and personality. They also sell olive oil, limoncello and finnochetta.
google avatar

Yelp
Excellent atmosphere and wonderful food. We had gnocchi, spaghetti, and grilled vegetables, simple dishes, but so delicious and well prepared. House red was excellent.

Stacey P.

Yelp
This was my most enjoyable dinning experience in all of Italy. The raise their own rabbits, grow there own grapes, harvest their own vegetables. The sunset, food, service, everything was like nothing I've ever experienced before

Emma C.

Yelp
One of the best meals we had in Italy. Came for my birthday and was beyond impressed. The staff (mostly family) were so kind and enjoyable and the food was absolutely delicious. I got the ravioli they rave about and my bf got the beef. Both were delicious I wish we could have tried more dishes so we will def be returning if we can! They have shuttles that can pick you up from your hotel if your hotel makes your reservation (a small tip for the driver is always nice) which made it super easy since it's a little out of town. Our reservation was at 9 so we missed the sunset but it's a perfect spot for that, would highly recommend!

Yelp
Great spaghetti puttanesca. Friends had swordfish which was perfect. Best pasta since arriving. Try the gorgonzola gnocchi. Walk to restaurant from anacapri center wonders you past villas gardens and sea views. Great staff and service.

Yelp
First of all: don't walk here. Call the restaurant and utilize the free shuttle. My wife and I went here for dinner and the food was delicious. We shared some ravioli Caprese. (Delicious) and got our own entrees. As a heads up, This is a very nice restaurant, and I feel we were a bit underdressed.
google avatar

Erika C.

Yelp
First and foremost - the view is amazing. Not a lot of choices available when you stay in Anacapri, and they offer a shuttle service to/from the hotels in Anacapri. The food was good - the zuppe with mussels was really impressive and, of course, the Caprese said was perfection. However, the house wine was some of the most disappointing in our trip throughout Italy. All in all, I would recommend.

Cari M.

Yelp
We have an excellent experience here! The atmosphere was lovely, service was attentive, and the food was delicious. They were very accommodating of our needs in traveling with a child (including arranging a round trip shuttle from our villa) and went out of their way to make our evening out a success! Highly recommend.

Yelp
Get away from all the tourist for this experience. Take the taxi, they drop you off at the gas station. The driver from the restaurant picks you up and drives you to the hill top for the gem that is the red with the amazing view!! Order the Rosè that is made there on the property. The best I have ever had. The food so good we just too the server to bring out the best. All insane!
google avatar

Jules T.

Yelp
Great view, impeccable service, food excellent, home made white wine, and the sun!!! What does one need more!
google avatar

Yelp
Getting to this restaurant on the southwest tip of Capri took winding through the narrowest residential alleys on a barely functioning rickety scooter. The house speciality - ravioli caprese- besides being painfully photogenic, was bright and light, each little pocket of dough encasing a smooth and rich piece of mozzarella. And when you're in Capri, you can't miss the seafood. They grow their own grapes to make their own wine here, and the proprietor jokingly told me our first bottle was 250€ when I contemplated whether it was worth getting a second bottle. It was only 8, and every sip refreshingly dry. .
google avatar

Alex S.

Yelp
Hidden gem, difficult to get to - as mentioned in other reviews, call them to schedule a free shuttle to pick you up in Anacapri, and they will take you back down there at the end of your meal - takes about 10-15 minutes each way so budget that in if you're trying to catch a ferry back to the coast. Family-run restaurant with very fresh ingredients grown on the property. They made their own wine which they do not sell anywhere, but would serve it to you if you asked for it, off-menu. Worth trying if you go! We got the recommendations from their website - Ravioli Caprese, Spaghetti, and then the Chicken which was AMAZING. The real draw here are the viewpoints, definitely plan to spend some time taking in the scenery around the property. The last thing that I would say is that relative to Capri prices, we thought this was a good value for the experience.

Samantha S.

Yelp
Stunning views and amazing dinner. We started with the tomato salad and eggplant Parmesan. Both dishes were amazing and probably my favorite part of the meal. The ravioli caprese is also very good and you can tell how fresh the ingredients are. They even grow their own vegetables in the garden. I ordered the grilled swordfish for my second course and don't have anything to complain about. Finally, a torte caprese for dessert. It had a more subtle chocolate and almond flavor than I was expecting, but it was my first time eating this particular type of cake. Still delicious and I finished the whole thing of course! We also ordered one of the house red wines that is made using grapes grown on the property and it was great - not too heavy, but still a lot of body. Would definitely eat here again if I returned to Capri!
google avatar

Andrea S.

Yelp
My favorite meal in all of Italy. The linguine with clams is a must try as well as the caprese ravioli, which my mother had. They make their own wine, olive oil and grow their own vegetables so the food is fresh and packed with taste. It was the best experience I had in Capri, and thats saying a lot considering I loved the island. We had pepper and cold cut antipasti with buffalo mozzarella. Well worth. I say, make the trip. To get there, they have shuttle service. The people are so friendly.

Yelp
I want to preface this review by saying that I ate here in a large group setting for dinner. I think it's important to still leave a review because others may be looking to book a large group here and should be informed as to my experience. The food took ages to come out. Now, I understand this is Italy, and slow food is a way of life, but it took ages for the dishes to come out, and again, this wouldn't be that big of an issue but what made this meal really awful in my opinion was the house wine. The red was passable, but the white... My God... It stunk like sulfur and tasted terrible. Not one person in the group of 30 plus thought the white wine was good. In fact when the servers came around people actively tried to avoid drinking the white. After 90 minutes we only had eaten an appetizer, an assortment of fried things and roasted vegetables; and their Ravioli Caprese. The appetizers, despite being somewhat cold were the best thing all night. The Ravioli Caprese was okay, but the sauce tasted like Chef Boyardee or plain Heniz tomato. For the main course after nearly 2 hours, was a chicken leg and thigh. It was merely salty chicken. The wife thought it was okay, but it was just overly salty with some rosemary. The desert was a Torte Caprese which was passable but not spectacular. Not sure what this place is like in an individual setting, as opposed to a group, but it really wasn't good... And what's most sad was we were really looking forward to our meal here.

Yelp
This is a fourth generation family restaurant that features their organically grown wine. Excellent little spot to grab a bite while touring through Anacapri. Home made everything. You won't be disappointed!
google avatar

Maddie M.

Yelp
Best meal I had while in italy. The owner personally picked us up from the hotel and drove us home. Lovely ambiance. Restaurant overlooks the vineyard and they make their wine in house! Flavorful food and friendly staff. Must go if ever in Capri
google avatar

Mark O.

Yelp
Wonderful food. Great views. Fun place to go. This restaurant is a destination in itself. Take in the views on the short hike after lunch.
google avatar

Michelle C.

Yelp
Great lunch spot away from the crowds! If you are in the main part of town they will come pick you up to what will be a very picturesque spot overlooking the coast, their gardens & vineyard. Friendly family run restaurant with good prices. Must try their organic wine & ravioli de caprese best on the island!!

Christy H.

Yelp
Wonderful place to dine for lunch with gorgeous views! Lunch was absolutely delicious. I truly hope I get to return again! We walked a few miles from town and earned our lunch then took their complimentary shuttle back to town. Highly recommend!
google avatar

Todd N.

Yelp
OMG!!! This place has the best views on the entire island...hands down! And that includes the chair lift in Anacapri. The food is fabulous...excellent wine, very romantic with live music playing in the background. Loved, Loved, Loved this place! You have to make reservations...and take the bus to the Piazza in Anacapri and get off there. Once there call the restaurant and they will come and pick you up, free of charge, to take you to the restaurant. DO NOT TRY TO WALK THERE! The ride is crazy enough...but once you get there you will be SO glad you did!
google avatar

Yelp
This restaurant was so good, we returned for our 25th anniversary dinner this evening after enjoying lunch here two days ago. Spaghetti Puttanesca is highly recommended, but every dish we had was just excellent. Don't miss their own homegrown wines. The setting high up overlooking Anacapri and the sea below is spectacular. Sunsets are not to be missed.
google avatar

Fran C.

Yelp
Everything is homemade in this place even the wine had no additives or preservatives, grapes are grown from their own garden. The food was amazing!!
google avatar

Michael H.

Yelp
Hard to get to this place, but they will pick you up at the Townsquare in Anacapri if pre-arranged. We did try their own wine, but found it tasting like turpentine. They had a good wine list of other wines and we ordered a traminer wine from Italy. We had a very interesting appetizer which was carpaccio of octopus. This was my favorite part of the meal, served with lemon and pepper over a bed of arugula. My wife had a house made pasta with eggplant and it was quite good. I made the mistake of ordering a linguine which seemed to be from previously made pasta in a bag. On the good side, there are some spectacular sights within a five minute walk of the restaurant. Overall, this was a real adventure and definitely worthwhile. We walked back to town on a path that was pleasant. It took us about 30 minutes. 3.5 stars but I will round it up considering they gave us a free ride to the restaurant and it was a fun adventure.
google avatar

Alex D.

Yelp
First dinner in Anacapri and the experience was awesome. They offer a shuttle service, but we opted to walked from town up to the restaurant - took a little while but it was picturesque and enjoyable. We got there just in time to see the sun setting over neighbouring Ischia island. The octopus, locally grown vegetables, pasta and fresh caught fish of the dat we're all great. Will likely go back before my trip is over.
google avatar

Cleo V.

Yelp
Cute spot in the countryside where the chef grows all his own vegetables and makes his own wine from his vineyard. Amazing fresh ingredients. Delicious and simple ingredients. Try the Caprese ravioli and the fresh fish!
google avatar

Jane P.

Yelp
I really wanted to like this restaurant since our hotel concierge booked it for us. The only thing this place has is a view. The service was slow and there were bugs flying everywhere because of the fruit trees. The food was eh! Would not recommend this place to anyone.
google avatar

Alexis H.

Yelp
I almost don't want to post anything because Da Gelsomina is such an amazing hidden gem and has so much of the charm that Capri's tourist jammed streets sometimes lacks during the day. It's an escape from the high end shopping, plastic version of the island. We wish we discovered it our first night! We went for an amazing sunset dinner and shut the place down. If you go during the day for lunch you can use their gorgeous pool and take in the amazing panorama, too. They're basically at the top of Anacapri so call ahead and someone from the restaurant will come down and get you. The food was amazing and the personal service was so memorable. Everything is grown on site and the pigs and rabbits are raised there too. They also produce their own wine and make their own limoncello and finochietto.
google avatar

Daniel S.

Yelp
Great good with some of the most amazing views in Capri or Anicapri! Make sure you get there 30 mins before sunset. They will pick you up in the main square in Anicapri and bring you to the top. Do not try to walk it!! It's super steep. Great choice for a romantic dinner. Quiet, nice staff, great ambience. Oh and the food was pretty damn good!!

maria h.

Yelp
We came here for lunch and got picked up by the restaurant vehicle. The views are amazing. They have the most amazing view of the ocean and their own vineyards. Their local red and white organic wines were very good. I felt like a light lunch and I had a flavorful veggie dish. Mini rolls of eggplant Parmesan, artichoke and more. My partner had seafood salad. Requested what he liked in it and he loved it. Service was wonderful. Lovely place.

Amanda S.

Yelp
This restaurant was amazing! The views are unbelievable. Go for sunset and have the house wine! Stick with pasta that was the best by far!

Jennifer P.

Yelp
Fantastic food, family run. Drank the wine made on site. Light and crisp perfect for lunch! Will come back for dinner!
google avatar

Kori F.

Yelp
Views were breathtaking from Restaurant! Perfect place to watch the sunset. Only 10 mins from Capri center. Food was fantastic! Recommend the homemade red wine.

Debbie B.

Yelp
My husband and I were here for lunch on our honeymoon and it was one of the best meals of our trip. The organic wine is incredible and the pasta is so light and delicious. As if the food isn't enough the view is absolutely breathtaking and the owner was very friendly and attentive. Great find off the beaten path!
